      If a buyer files a payment dispute, and you’re found responsible for the disputed amount, you’ll be charged a dispute fee by eBay. If you accept the payment dispute and issue a refund, eBay will waive the dispute fee, and you’ll be responsible for the refund amount issued to your buyer. -Exert directly from the Ebay dispute fee page. Although if the item was shipped and you have proof that it was shipped normally ebay will eat that sale price as a seller protection, i have called them twice for this exact thing and not had a problem. Otherwise as it says if you have to do a refund they "waive" the 20 dollar fee. I know you are a great ebayer and provide A TON of great information but on something like this you really need to provide all the information.

      The world is changing in the Ecommerce.. Brick Businesses are shutting down and going on Ebay and other apps, I am a small business per say, I've notice the changes, now I see a lot of listed items that are NEW, posted by big businesses. The used item category will become a last option as people tend to shift to online buying. Huge companies can and will afford lots of items to be sponsored so they will alway be at sight, the fees will start to rise because if someone can afford to pay thousands on a lease, they can afford to pay additional "small change" fees, those same fees that for us just trying to make a living are high.. The same is happening with flea markets, they are charging more now because they know BIG business are getting spots to sell now. To speak more on fees, I can see already TH-cam doing the same to its viewers because they won't care to loose thousands that don't want to pay a viewer subscription because they will be banking with those that will.

    • @earlgendron4893
      @earlgendron4893 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @rebeccashetter8389 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@earlgendron4893 But if it costs the seller more to sell they will look for alternative incomes and they will lose their platform. No sellers ,no eBay. It is very stressful to sell online. You never know what is coming. It could get lost in the mail... the item could be damaged.... the customer could say they never got it and it was delivered... the customer sends back something else.. you may not sell the item after all the work of cleaning.. photographing... listing.. packing... and then their are taxes local and federal.. packing materials... shipping costs... and the list goes on and on.... If you tabulate your time... you are not making minimum wage and it has gone up... Also you have to pay out more taxes then working for someone else. Without any customer service is making it too hard to deal with issues on eBay. They are making enough money off of fees to have a call center to talk too. After you lose a customer it costs thousands of dollars to replace that customer. Plus: sellers are talking about what is going on and stopping new sellers from selling on eBay. They could lose their platform. Years ago I had a business and my customer service made my business flourish. What ever it took to take care of my customers... I would walk through fire for them.. and they expected that. They could contact me anytime they needed me and I was there for them. I took care of my suppliers to and made every contact special for them. In return, I had great customers and great suppliers. You have to take care of the sellers or you will lose them. This will cost you your platform.

    I agree. Getting answers from Ebay and problem solving is absolutely ABISMALL!!!! It is so hard to get a problem solved with ebay and they all too often no longer review problems we may have with Buyers that are fraudulent or hostile. Every time we turn around we are seeing so much where they do not care about the other half of their business which is the Sellers. Having a phone line to actually talk to a real person to help resolve things would be FANTASTIC!!!

    Just had a recent item damaged from shipping. Buyer automatically gave me a negative review before talking to me and making Return Request. I had to explain to Buyer shipping is out of my control and I tried my best to safely package all items I ship, which this case was first time I had a item damaged during shipping. My solution, I gave Buyer a full refund, told Buyer to keep item, and ask for a feedback change... Buyer accepted and made feedback change.
    Best thing we can do now is try to work with Buyers, because it's apparent Ebay doesn't want to help us.

    This is scary to me as a new seller. I don't have a lot of money in my account. I just found out this weekend that if you do a refund for a customer they pull directly from your bank account. That kind of access is scary. So not only did they put my funds on hold in my ebay store, but they took fund out of my bank too. I can't imagine having a bigger store. It happened to me also. But here’s what I found out. If a buyer opens a transaction not recognized case by telling their financial institution it’s not their charge. eBay gives you a two options. To dispute the case and provide tracking details. Or accept the dispute and refund the buyer. If you dispute the case. Provide tracking and the item shows that it has been delivered, you will usually win the dispute and nothing happens. And even if you loose the dispute, eBay refunds the money without any charge to the seller. Well.. At least for top rated sellers. BUT..... if the item tracking does not show to be delivered to the buyer. Then the buyer wins the dispute and eBay refunds the money and takes a dispute fee from the seller. In my situation the buyer failed to pick up the package from the post office because it was to large for the mailbox. And I lost my sale plus shipping plus a 20$ fee. Because the buyer failed to notice the slip in the mailbox. And the bogus part really is that as a seller I had zero control over where the payment came from or how it was handled. MANAGED PAYMENTS DID! Shouldn’t they be the ones disputing fraudulent charges? We pay for every managed payment transaction through our final value fee payment!

    Yes this isn't good. I addressed this fee myself several months back in a video as it's been in the user agreement for a long while. With selling on Amazon, Walmart, Etsy, and etc. they have all had it for a long time. eBay is the last one to add this fee. We've paid the fee pretty much on every platform we sell on unfortunately. I researched it as well, and it appears to be tied to the processing company being hit from the buyers charge card company. If you check your charge card/bank card agreement they do state there could be fees for disputes with many of them. eBay does still have phone service though, but you have to have an Anchor Store or higher. We've had phone service all but one week when the pandemic first hit.

Item was shipped on time and according to tracking was delivered. 30 days after the date of delivery, not the date of sale, the buyer claimed it was arrived broken. I asked see the broken part and the packing. They refused to show me. I told them the item was insured and they should file a claim with the PO. They didn’t and filed a “not as described” case. I countered and showed the pictures of the items they bought and their messages where they claimed it arrived broken weeks after it was delivered. eBay gave them their money back and took return postage out of my account (even though I had it listed as buyer pays return) AND hit me with this $20.00 fee for “bothering to dispute” a scammy customer who clearly broke the dish after getting and using it a few weeks. No, I wasn’t aware of this eBay policy. Thank to you for explaining it in detail.

    It's almost like extorsion. They know sellers won't dispute a $15 item because they may have to pay $20 anyway. It's just a way of forcing free returns no matter what. Stop trying to emulate Amazon eBay and start being innovative like you used to be....

    The only time to use EBay is if you want to sell something at auction nowadays-if it’s a set price I’d sell elsewhere

    Something about this whole managed payment thing seemed sketchy from the start. I am sure as it unfolds, it will have many faces. All I can say is, on an individual case basis, if something seems unethical or you consider unfair from a business perspective, I would recommend opening up a case with the better business bureau. Creates some demand for accountability. eBay cannot play God and still has to conform to what is considered fair business practices and if there shows a trend in bbb complaints l, it doesn’t look good to share holders as a very good business model. Maybe I’m just not familiar with it yet, but like most of ebays supposed changes for the better, the new managed payments is hard to navigate, makes little sense, and so far seems to only benefit eBay itself.
