The end game should be to build a mini museum and language center, art center, music center, dance center, computer center with a library of LUO history across all regions and clans and urban centers . The Language centers will benefit the younger generation particularly those in urban areas where their parents can pay for a fee to learn the language etc similar to French and Chinese centers .
A shop with merchandise created by Luo artisans and others, books etc . You can start with a mini museum, language center, library in your own clan and then expand to all other clans and urban centers starting with Homabay and Kisumu Kenya and expanding to Pakwach, Gulu, Lira Uganda and all other countries and regions .
You can also have programs for kids born outside the continent like Obama to come and learn the language . Obama struggled to learn the language compared to his wife Michelle who picked faster . Language APPS and Language centers can be very helpful .
Congratulations and keep up the good work . Can you please start with Prof Bethwell Allan Ogot he is retired now and easily accessible at his rural home Yala, Gem Siaya . A graduate of Makerere University Uganda . University of St Andrews . University of London .
Currently Prof Allan Ogot at 94 years of age as a Historian and scholar of African history he has written extensively on Luo History for more than 70 years and Yoweri Museveni declared him persona non-grata in Uganda for speaking against the marginalization of Luo groups in Uganda by Yoweri Museveni and his supporters .
Other scholars that you can use in building your documentaries include Okot P'Bitek, Steve Braker,Prof Washington Okumu, Prof Atieno Odhiambo, Stephen Ombanyo Osieyo, P.L.O Lumumba, Orony Omolo and others .
For the best documentaries consider completing a certificate in film technology 2 semesters at KCA university Kisumu campus . Also can partner with others who have completed documentaries . Focus on all the clans Kenya alone has 35-46 clans and Sudan/Lower Egypt has more than 1500 clans . Luo people of Aegen and Abu simbel are found in the border of sudan and Egypt also .
Find elders both male and female and interview them about the history of their clans for each Luo group across Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, DRC Congo, Chad, CAR, Ethiopia, Lower Egypt/Sudan . Consider digging up the Luo groups that were assimilated by Bantu in Cameroon .
Apply for grants across the world and Kenya to support your documentary for instance through School of African and Oriental Studies in London . Approach the Museums of Kenya to search for grants that support your efforts . Interview Luo council of elders across all regions .
Build a history APP and a Luo dictionary and Language APP and commercialize to support your business and effort . In addition to documentary on Luo history create a parallel film and videography business to do weddings, birthdays, funerals, events/shows etc to supplement your income and make the project sustainable .
Well, applying for grants is easier said than done. There's a higher chance if you are part of an institution. However as an independent individual it's a big call.
@@KPtravels001 But besides grant the best way to sustain is combine the project with entrepreneurship so you can self fund and grow at the beginning and later attract advertisers and sponsors .
