Hi. This is the very first video of yours that I have come across, and I have to say I am amazed by the quality of your video. I really like the look and color grading done on the scenes, especially the shots in the grass field with lots of green and yellow tones. I could literally feel the warmth of the scene as I watched the video. Really amazing work, keep it up.
You were a big part of me deciding to get this exact set-up and I never regretted it. Such a special combo. And it clearly inspires you because your photos with it are some of your best work imo. The big companies don't want people to know it but no, you don't need the latest gear to enjoy photography. In the contrary I would say. I have been shooting with a Nikon D60 and a 35mm 1.8 and I don't even know how old it is but if I didn't like cameras as much as I like ohitography I could very well just shoot with this combo or the GX80/20mm1.7 and be perfectly happy. Btw, if you use lightroom I highly encourage you to use the new denoise funstion. It's ofc not perfect but it makes photos that would have been unusable at high iso completely clean and even printable. There is no more excuse now to not use old gear (if you use lightroom).
I got my Panasonic Lumix GX85 back in 2017 I bought it with the kit lens, the Lumix 14-140mm F3.5-5.6 and the original Leica 25mm F1.4 (best lens I've ever owned). I love this camera it is without any doubts the camera I take with me to do everything and that's the most important as you said in your video "You can't beat someone that is having fun" I'll keep having fun with my little Panasonic Lumix GX85
I got my gx85 as a travel filmmaking camera about two years ago, and it's been an absolute joy to use. I love taking it on hikes and just getting nice shots. It sits right next to me on my desk just so I feel the urge to pick it up. I have a full cinema camera kit, but I still find myself reaching for it because I love its size and its limitations. I've shot multiple short films on it now, and the look has never disappointed me. It really is a perfect second camera.
Ok, I just discovered this channel and believe I have been hypnotized by Teo’s beautiful voice, accent and presentation such that he could take a photo of a blank wall and I would swoon over it. Wonderful talent.
This video has been a fresh air in my mind about so many things i have been thinking about my photography the past months... thank you for loving this art as much as you do
Everything about this video is how i've been feeling for a long time. After many years and many test trials with digicams and even the x100 i finally found the camera sparks that joy and gives me that ease of use and burden-less feeling. I found a deal on the "old" sony rx1rii and that camera has completely resparked my love for photography. I use to shoot a lot with point and shoot film cameras, i would use them as my everyday carry whether i was going out with friends/family or on my commute to work, i would always make sure it would come with me. i would even make room for it in my camera bag on trips or my paid gigs. current film prices had got me looking more into digital point and shoots and long story short i ended up with the rx1rii and now my bigger sony has taken the back seat. its so nice to come across video that really goes into depth explaining that feeling ive been personally experiencing. this has definitely become one of my favorite videos here on youtube that ive watched in a long time, i couldve easily watched this video front to back 10+ times even if it was hours long. so yeah thank you for that :)
I still have my GX80 and it's been superb for my hikes through Japan - nothing wrong with it even today! Paired with some superb Micro Four Thirds lenses (shout out to the Olympus 12-40 Pro, and the Olympus 17mm), the output still is amazing.
I really felt that "resistance" term you used. Right now it's been ages since I hadn't have fun with my camera because of the resistance to take easy photos. You opened my eyes ❤
You were partly what inspired me to get a GX85! Love your photos and how you can turn something seemingly mundane into something beautiful. Been a photographer for going on 10 years and was a micro four thirds guy for a while and sold everything for full frame when I started leaning heavier into video. I realized very quickly I didn't like the weight of the bodies or lenses when going on personal trips or for EDC. Also found out there was nothing "magical" or "unobtainable" with full frame. Yes shallow dof, blah blah; but a photo is so much more than blurry background. So I decided to go back to this exact setup, GX85+20mm f1.7. I told myself I would by a 12mm or a 15mm at some point but I absolutely love the 20mm, it never comes off. I still have my full frame Panasonic cameras for work but when it's just me and I want something light to throw in my pocket or a small sling pouch, it's the GX85 that comes with me.
That feeling of resistance really spoke to me! Im such a beginner when it comes to photography, like mostly I love learning about it but haven’t done much aside from trying to take pretty photos on my phone. My grandma let me borrow her bigger canon camera awhile back and I just felt too awkward with it and was too anxious to actually pull it out in front of people. Granted, I still have worries with taking photos of and around others LOL but the big clunky camera didn’t help with that at all. I’ve been thinking of playing around with my older cheap digital cameras like when I was a kid because they’re much smaller and less scary seeming, yet I want something that’s newer and better quality, something like this!
i actually hate shooting on cameras with big lenses because i feel awkward pulling it out around strangers + they also freeze up because its so unnatural
That’s strange, because I can usually find it for about 400🤔 I didn’t think that the price could vary so strongly depending on your location. And 400 is really cheap for a camera with the capabilities of the GX80. You‘re not going to find a bloody camera that’s any good for 80 bucks. But the cameras that camera manufacturers try to sell us nowadays are in the 1000-2000 bucks range, so considering that, 400 is a steal! That is the point I‘m trying to make here🙌🏼✨
Sure 600$ bei itself is a lot HOWEVER not when it comes to cameras. It’s not really out of touch when you consider that good cameras can cost multiple thousands of dollars. I‘d say anything under 800 is considerable as a „cheap“ camera. Anything under 400 is a „budget“ camera. It’s the same way cheap Pianos are 800$ and that is just the way it is. You can not expect high quality in that price range but it’s enough. Nothing out of touch with that. It alway depends on what it is about.
I love that you use Dehancer to make your videos look more like film. I hope this becomes a trend on TH-cam. I'm tired of the crisp and cold digital look modern camera sensors are giving us nowadays, especially if the footage is shot with a smartphone, which automatically processes the footage so heavily to look as real to life as possible-I don't understand people who like that look. No, I want footage to look like a nice memory. And your videos do that for me.

7 months ago I was trying to get into photography after years of shooting with my cheap phone. I saw this camera on Amazon and I thought "mmh seems nice and reasonably priced", well at least for how far the reasonably can get ahah. So I searched for some TH-cam reviews and you came up as recommended. I subscribed and then bought the gx85. Didnt regret it yet, and don't think I will. Keep it up👍👍👍
Wanna echo some of the other comments. You’re a huge reason I got my gx85 over a year ago. It is absolutely a fun camera and has made me a better photographer because I take it so many places I never used to take a camera. This was a beautiful love letter to this little beast!
Great video Teo, you inspired me to buy a GX80 about half a year ago now from watching your videos. I’ve taken it everywhere with me and whilst the image quality isn’t insane, it’s such a little pocket rocket and inspires me to capture what’s around me. My photography has improved so much from it.
I'd like to point out that in the last decade or so progress on the digital camera front wasn't made by such huge leaps as it was earlier, meaning a person trying out photography can rely on older second hand models to cover 90% of their needs. Sure higher MP and ISO numbers are great but even having a camera that gives you usable 800ISO is just lovely. And I'd really like to be a guy starting out in this era. Congrats on making it so easy to understand for everyone!
My choice back then was the olympus om-d e-m10 and a lumix 25mm f1.7 and i never got bored! You described literally the way i feel when i shoot with my camera, i really loved this video!
I love micro 4/3 cameras. I just got a Lumix Gm1 a few months ago to get back in photography and I love it. I have taken amazing photo with it and the 20mm lens. I like the built-in modes and filters, especially the dynamic monochrome.
I’m celebrating my 56th year as a working pro, but I had lost touch with what you shared in this video!!!!! Thank you for reminding me that enjoying the craft is more important than the gear! I own way too much, but I have the GX85 too, I will be using it more and having more fun! Thank you young man!
Congratulations on your 1st digital camera. Be careful. This could be your gateway drug into photography. Word of advice. Newer, better, more expensive cameras won’t make you a better photographer. I know this through experience. Use the gear you have. Purchase primes if and when you need them. YT videos will help you become a better photographer. Books, as in how to or of images by photographers you like , will help you become a better photographer. Going to workshops or taking classes are also helpful. Your gear, especially your body, is the least import element of becoming a good photographer. The most important piece of gear you will ever have is about six inches behind your camera. The GX80 was a camera I was on the verge of getting! Love MFT and the compact lightness as well as great image quality was just great to see. I ended up with the Olympus EM5 Mk. III because of some other pros it had over the Lumix, but still this camera is a fantastic choice!
your works are masterpieces🥺 I really adore them! and your speech is very comforting. thanks for sharing your experience, it’s useful for me as I’m currently picking up which camera to buy as a beginner
Brilliant video Teo! Having that type of camera is such a joy. My Pentax Mx-1 is one of those cameras, It feel is great in the hand, has a great zoom range and just a joy to work with. No fussing with lens or having to carry a bag of lens. Thanks for sharing! Always great content!
I have a Pentax K1000 too, and recently instinctively bought a Fujifilm XE-2... your video is so timely! I also love that the digital camera weighs nothing, and look forward to appreciating digital more again :3
Thank you so much for this video! It reaffirms my decision to buy this camera (just got it couple of days ago), although it has been discontinued for years. I agree with so many of your points made on this vid.
You're one of the reasons why I bought this as my compact travel camera. I remember watching your early videos and being stunned by the quality of photos this camera took and for how cheap it was for me to get. I have it paired with the 25mm 1.4 PanaLeica lens and its one of my most favorite combos out of all the cameras/lenses I've owned and it made shooting photos fun again. Also the 16MP isn't an issue for large prints since Lightroom has an AI upscaler and all large photos I printed from the files of this camera came out stunning. I'm glad to see this camera getting more recognition and it saved my back from traveling with Full Frame cameras like my S1H. Thanks for all your work
Bruh, love your approach towards photography. Just subbed yesterday. The way you communicate and put together your videos is so calming man. I wanna get a Lumix GX80 now haha
With regards to your point on the super high ISO capability at 9:59; that high ISO isn't really useful for single shots, but if you're stacking shots using median blending in post, then you can get the benefits of higher shutter speed in low light while keeping low noise. It's the same technique many smartphones use to achieve such low noise in their night modes.
Great video Teo! and wise words in this one. I love it and it gives me more motivation and a different look perspective (positive way). Keep doing this great work of art mein Freund! Greetings from the Netherlands!
I just picked up a used GX80 Body couple of minutes ago and now partnered it with my Lumix 20mm f1.7. I also have a Lumix GX8, Leica 12-60 f2.8-4 and the Leica 15mm f1.7. Your videos has been one of the inspirations why I build a MFT system aside from owning Fujifilm APSC System. I am really impressed with the quality of photos the Lumix produces. Thanks for the videos!
Very nice selection of glass for your GX80. Congratulations. The GX8 might be a better camera than the GX80. At least it is different from its cousins. I too am also in Fujiland. I only own crop sensor cameras. Full frame, for me, offers nothing I can’t get from crop sensor bodies. God bless those of us that want or need full frame sensors. That is what makes horse racing. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)
That's right, it's all about feelings. That's why the Leica M is the king of this class. Since it is too expensive and not affordable for most people, I bought the GX9, which is a slight upgrade to the GX80. It has a slightly better dynamic range and a 20 megapixel sensor. Since I got this camera, my full frame camera has been put away in the closet. :))
I literally just got the bug to pick back up my GX85 a few days ago and it really does just inspire me to pick it up and go shoot. Thanks for putting this together
I've been using mine for almost two years now. I work between the kit lenses (12-35mm, 45-150mm), the 25mm f/1.7 (debated the 20mm but I prefer tighter compositions), and some Canon FD mount adapted lenses. In a commercial sense, I'm outgrowing it. I won't charge people to take photos for them due to my hardware not being up to the task. But as an art, I adore using this camera. If I feel like my motivation for photography is waining, I'll end up picking it up and it comes right back.
absolutely stunning video. I dont even need a camera, I watched this for the visuals and the commentary. How you feel about the GX85 is how I feel about the Leica M9 or the xpro1--it's inspiring to grab and walk around. I completely agree that most new digital cameras are completely unnecessary--huge, bulky, 50mp +, spray and pray--there is nothing that motivates you to challenge yourself to be more creative: the paradox of ease.
I love my GX80. It's very versatile because of its size, but also produces great images. Paired with the Panasonic-Leica 15mm lens it's hard to beat. I also love the Panasonic GM1 with the same lens, that is such a fun combination.
Teo, I love you and your work! Your videos are so calming and pleasing, your thoughts are brilliant and usually offer a more insightful perspective on things. Your setup reminds me a lot of mine: my main digital camera is an Olympus EM10 mark II paired with a 20mm f1.7 Lumix lens! It was my first ''serious'' camera, I bought it 3 years ago and it gave me some exquisite shots. Lately I've been enojoying the digicam trend, and I got myself a Canon Ixus 70 (the famous sd1000): well, it made me feel and think just as described by you in this video! While tecnically it's a bad and old camera, it actually helped me a lot getting rid of overthinking and made me take more pics! I'd love to hear you talk about digicams as well :) greetings from Rome, if you'll ever come I'd love to meet you!
ever since watching your japan street photography series I've been wanting to get my hand on a lumix gx80 now 😅 also super close to 100k!! its gonna happen before the end of 2023 for SURE
This ties in perfectly with the intuitive 'active filter' hypothesis, it is many times easier to learn things when you are enjoying it than when you aren't. If you want to get good at 'active' art like drawing or painting, you will get better if you actually do what you like since you will pay attention to what you are doing and do it more. Same with language learning and photography, which are more 'passive', pay attention and do it often and you will get results.
Beautifully shot and presented video. I have been using this camera and lens combo since 2019 and its still the one i instinctively pick up when taking a camera out despite having two other M43 cameras.
Still used my two GX9 even after 4 years of purchase and going around the world. IBIS and fun factor of GX80 is still better than most of 2023 cameras available today.
I'm pretty sure you've sold quite a few GX80s at this point. I also got one earlier this year in large parts thanks to your videos. MPB should have sponsored this video ;)

This made me want to start photography as a hobby. Your love of photography is so tangible in this video that I feel like I need to be a part of it
Your voice is the most soothing and this video is so peaceful ❤
Totally agree with you regarding how the camera makes you feel is supper important. Great video. Thanks for sharing!
watched a few seconds to stop. what the hell are those amazing scenes. absolutely bonkers !
from the first video i saw, i could feel your love for photography. Thank you for sharing your point of view of the world here! 😊
I love micro 4/3 cameras. I just got a Lumix Gm1 a few months ago to get back in photography and I love it. I have taken amazing photo with it and the 20mm lens. I like the built-in modes and filters, especially the dynamic monochrome.
The Gm1 is the best camera ever made.
That photo at 6:00 is GORGEOUS.
Recently received my own GX80! Lovely, small companion for a great price
incredible work you've put in for this video! props to you, keep it up
For more than a year it is my favorite too!! And the way it came to me was through your videos!! Thanks for inspiring!
I totally agree.
I’m celebrating my 56th year as a working pro, but I had lost touch with what you shared in this video!!!!! Thank you for reminding me that enjoying the craft is more important than the gear! I own way too much, but I have the GX85 too, I will be using it more and having more fun! Thank you young man!
Thanks man for clearing my doubt and what a lovely video.
THIS IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL VIDEO IVE EVER SEEN IN TH-cam!
I actually just bought this as my first ever digital camera a few weeks ago from watching your videos and it’s the best thing i’ve done!!

Absolutely beautiful cinematography. Immediately followed!
Thank you SO much! What great words of wisdom you share with us here. I am going to do my best to take everything you said here to heart!!!!!
The GX80 was a camera I was on the verge of getting! Love MFT and the compact lightness as well as great image quality was just great to see. I ended up with the Olympus EM5 Mk. III because of some other pros it had over the Lumix, but still this camera is a fantastic choice!
I bought my GX80 because of your street photography video in London, I think 3 or 4 years ago. It's still my go to camera!
This video is itself a work of art! Loved it to the core! ✨
Even your videos are art on its own. Absolutely my favorite photography channel
Aww thank you!🥹🙇🏻♂️
Wonderful video. Which led to me purchasing a GX80 which I love and see why it's your favourite camera!
your works are masterpieces🥺 I really adore them! and your speech is very comforting.
thanks for sharing your experience, it’s useful for me as I’m currently picking up which camera to buy as a beginner
this is video is capturing the same feelings i have about cameras for a while perfectly, such a beautiful video, very inspiring
I just fell in love of the quality of this video ❤
i absolutely love this
Aww thank you Gawx!!❤️
Thanks for all your work
This whole video is visually stunning. Amazing work
Bruh, love your approach towards photography.
I have an xe3 from 2017 and I absolutely love it
Awesome video. Its so calm and inspiring. The colors suited perfectly.
wow, less than a minute in and I already subscribed. The cinematography is incredible. Keep up the good work!
so happy I found your channel I feel so inspired!
I love the sound of your voice. It is very calming.
One of the most inspiring and best videos on youtube. cheers.
Great video Teo! and wise words in this one. I love it and it gives me more motivation and a different look perspective (positive way).
Keep doing this great work of art mein Freund!
Greetings from the Netherlands!
Beautiful video
Advance congratulations on hitting 100K subscribers Teo!
You're awesome, god bless you.
Aww thank you!🥹🫶🏼 We hit it now!❤️
Loved your video! It gave me such a sense of tranquility and your recommendations are helping me a lot

It’s incredible the quality. I love your style 💛
Teo, you are so inspiring! Plus your voice is soothing 😌
The end of video is heartwarming❤❤
Nice thought, Good video !! One more thing .... very inspirational 👏
You made me feel so inspired❤Thanks for this one. Love your channel for a long time.
Currently switching from Fuji xt200 to the lumix gx80! Excited!!
Man, your video quality is superb.
The shots of this video are beautiful! Makes me wanna do filmmaking again.
Im getting a Sony Nex 5r, its a very portable camera and it is similar to the Panasonic, I am super excited to take it on my trip across the US!
absolutely stunning video.
I also love the Panasonic GM1 with the same lens, that is such a fun combination.
can u tell me the price plz
I'll gonna buy this camera one day, btw i like this video, your voice the editing everything ✨
Ohh noo hahah what’s your setup? I’m sure it’s fiiineee!✨
Yeeeee I’ve been watching it inch closer😭🫶🏼
@@teocrawford my setup is just my iphone / canon g7x 😅 and sometimes nikon f60 w/ 50 mm lens
We are so close to 100K Teo! Happy for you man
Beautifully shot and presented video.
