      @davidshanhun  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hey Darren! thanks for this comment my friend and congrats on jumping into the open mic nights! Definitely takes a while to learn some of these pedals - but all so much fun once you get through the frustration of figuring out and saving tones etc! The 600 is pretty cool on the looping front, and definitely has some fun features but I still rate the guitar and vocal fx and tones much much higher on the VL3 than on this.

    David, great video, explaining the RC. I’m running a small home studio in The Netherlands, have a lot of gear, I’m a synth / piano / organ player. Lot’s of synths / keys. But also have other stuff like acoustic, electric guitars, bass, sax, Roland SPD SX Pro pad, Helix FX pedal and some other stuff. But I was always thinking about looping, no matter what instrument. So after a lot of reviews I decided to buy the RC. So now, it’s the fifth of may, and saw a lot of RC movies on TH-cam, and yours came by. Really good video, about how you set it up, and what you can do with it. And, btw, really nice editing of the video.

    Are you finding this easier or harder to figure out than the VoicLive 3?

    • @davidshanhun
      @davidshanhun  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Easier - but perhaps that is partly due to having spent so much time with the VL3. The fundamental setup of the VL3 laters has simply been copied and called modes in this unit tbh. Button mapping works in the same way, just a bit different in terms of the inital menu to access things.

    • @davidshanhun
      @davidshanhun  ปีที่แล้ว

      oh no! It's been pretty good since tbh - so i'm guessing perhaps it genuinely got too hot - was a hot day gig in the sun so may have been the cause? I have had another issue similar, but have now done a bunch of gigs with no problems! Good thing is you can back up your unit and settings etc, so even if you got a replacement - you can load up the new/replacement one all set and ready to go!

    • @davidshanhun

    Im using rc300 and am apprehensive switching over to the rc600 because of so many stories of how much of a nightmare it is. I have a question and was wondering if this had been fixed yet. I hear that a problem is: with measures set to "auto" or to a certain value, it is not possible to abort the Rec phase (Red Light) on other channels after recording the first loop, until at least one whole measure is completed (the Red LED apparently just starts to flash)... is this true and if so has it been fixed or a work around?

    • @davidshanhun
      @davidshanhun  หลายเดือนก่อน

      heya, yeah valid to have concerns - it's a very different beast. What you're asking I haven't run into at all, but that comes down to the settings you use in the unit. There is SO much built in, which makes it a little difficult to navigate as you get started. It is not remotely as user friendly as the rc300. If you take the plunge, be prepared for some mental frustration and a lot of learning time - but you will get some cool options and new ideas with it!

      nope! ....actually more of a tricky question - it does do harmonies similar, but you have to program the key for each song, or send it midi information for each song - it won't read your guitar or instrument input to auto-sense what is being played and match it. So depending on how you wish to use it - it could be a yes or a no haha!

    Just a question David since you say you use layers by pressing the same button. Are the lights on the unit visible in direct sunlight or under color lighting on stage ???

    Amazing to learn from your video and read all the comments
    It does seem a lot of new working out needs to be done to succesfully set up the RC600 to work how each individual wants it to work
    Ive succesfully been using the sweet little old pedal RC30 ha ha ,,its been my best band ever, but now seriously considering going straight up to the 600 and bypassing the older 300 , however the expression pedal seems a great pedal on the 300 and obviusly easier but there seems to be huge benefits with more inputs and fx , just a little concerned still why there are still glitches after the updates , hopefully not when Live Looping
    still doing my homework on both machines , but once again your information is fantastic
    interested to know when you will have new vids so have just subcribed
    btw , i am an ELECTRIC VIOLINIST Piano and Handpan Player ...loving playing live with my current looper but know going forward the possibilities are amazing
    thaank you again

      love this message :) and YES - so much figuring out to do with new gear - especially when there's so much packed into it like the 600. If you're willing to spend the time to learn the 600 I would go with that, but if you want a shorter learning curve then the 300 is an excellent machine and will expand your options a lot from the 30. There are still bugs or 'odd' things that occur with the 600 - but - they are reasonably documented and you can work around them for the most part. If you do go for the 600, I recommend something like JP's course on it, so you can work through the unit bit by bit rather than getting into 'overwhelm' looking at the manual etc haha. bit.ly/jp600course Food for thought haha!

    ... I have loads of gear and being able to scale down to just one loopstation is a game changer.. I was initially put off getting a 600 as it's got way more functionality than I will ever use and it doesn't have a Wah pedal of the bat.. the older 300 looks easier to run but price-wise the 600 is better "value" I think..

    Good to see you again mate. 👍This subject is so interesting. The only thing that would make me replace my current huge pedal board (Boss RC-500 as looper) would be if I can replace all pedals with only the Boss RC-600. The limitations with the harmonizer is the first obvious problem for me. I wonder if this really could be fixed with only software update. I would guess there are hardware limitations in the product as well. Why wouldn’t they have included this in the fist place. Boss has at least three other pedals that can do this. The auto harmonizer based on MIDI is just a joke. What kind of real life scenario is that? Looking forward to the sequels mate.🤘

      @@scrivmusic453 cool - you can program assigns to do this. if you don't have an external control pedal, set the assign to the fx button for that memory. you will need 2 assigns - 1 will be to 'start/stop' loop 2 (verse), and the 2nd assign will be to 'start/stop' loop 3 (chorus). you could use different loops depending on how you set it up but that's the basics. When loop two is playing it will stop it and start loop 3 and vice versa!

    Yes, it is a fun-pedal, but I was not satisfied with th G2B-Effect ... I am playing mostly classic guitars and finally added a HX Stomp XL to the setup which finally provides all I needed. The RC-600 is now only working with the loops... I had a RC-500 before and hated Boss because of their buggy UI. I never had fun with the RC-500. The RC-600 is the brother of the RC-505, not the RC500!...

With the chords + the lyrics it's sometimes difficult to read everything live... I know you have to repeat a lot to have automatisms but if you have any advice, thank you very much in advance 🙏
