Hi David, I miss your videos by the way :) My question: How did you program that cajon four on the floor? I can´t find that simple groove in my RC-600. All of the grooves are so full of extra rythm parts that I don´t want or need. Take care! Anders, Sweden
If you were to hit the all start/stop button would that end the loop and bring it back in while letting you continue to use effects on either your voice or guitar?
Wow, you made that look easy. Gonna be rewatching this video and thinking about what I'd like to lift from your set up. The FX stuff was very interesting. Just out of curiosity: Did you consider bringing all six loop REC/PLAY onto the six pedals in one mode? And if so, what made you not do that?
haha cheers! so many options on how to set things up and great to see all sorts of people's variations eh! I haven't run a setup with all 6 on the one mode, but so far haven't found a real need for all 6 loops with what I do. I think it could be pretty cool using that arrangement though with mark/mark back to bring things in and out though.
Hi David. I just downloaded your memory setup from your website, thank you! One question before I connect my RC600: Is this setup from this video one of them? Because I am really impressed with how your guitar tones sound. Have a great day! Keep looping :)
There is no mic output so how can ı set my vocal on PA system..ı have to use main output vocal and guitar together ?and it s a problem to set your vocal eq on PA and your guitar sound on PA system separately? Thanks bro

My RC300 froze on me several times as well. I just ordered an RC600, in hopes that I wouldn't have the freeze problem. Then I hear that yours froze. GRR!
oh no! It's been pretty good since tbh - so i'm guessing perhaps it genuinely got too hot - was a hot day gig in the sun so may have been the cause? I have had another issue similar, but have now done a bunch of gigs with no problems! Good thing is you can back up your unit and settings etc, so even if you got a replacement - you can load up the new/replacement one all set and ready to go!
Hey Dov! Nice to be back and thank you. Not sure I understand you for this sorry - it was tricky to hold both pedals/pedalboards for the thumbnail image haha!
@@davidshanhun i was talking about the way you switch to your bass and after the boost and delay sound. It looks like easy on the video but i am not sure that it is so easy for someone who don’t know this kind of gear like you. I hope it make sense? Best my friend.
@@dovane9932 yes that makes sense. Yes I have made it easy haha! You can choose what each switch does on the RC600 - so I have set it so that one switch turns on my bass tone to make it nice and simple.
Im using rc300 and am apprehensive switching over to the rc600 because of so many stories of how much of a nightmare it is. I have a question and was wondering if this had been fixed yet. I hear that a problem is: with measures set to "auto" or to a certain value, it is not possible to abort the Rec phase (Red Light) on other channels after recording the first loop, until at least one whole measure is completed (the Red LED apparently just starts to flash)... is this true and if so has it been fixed or a work around?
heya, yeah valid to have concerns - it's a very different beast. What you're asking I haven't run into at all, but that comes down to the settings you use in the unit. There is SO much built in, which makes it a little difficult to navigate as you get started. It is not remotely as user friendly as the rc300. If you take the plunge, be prepared for some mental frustration and a lot of learning time - but you will get some cool options and new ideas with it!
@@davidshanhun Hmm its on offer at the moment and need to make the decision.. was it worth ti for you? Also how does the bass effect on the rc600 compare with the bass effect on the rc300?
@@lucygilbertson3746 i think in the greater scheme of things yeah it was worth it - buuut it was a lot of frustration initially haha, and still sometimes has a few issues, but for the things I have gained running it - they've been pretty cool haha. I think both bass effects on the units aren't great. Been a while since I tried the 300 one, but I'm using hte ehx bass 9 for my setup rather than the 600. I did use the onboard transpose effect for bass to begin with on the 600, and it does a pretty ok job, but nothing on the ehx. long reply haha but hope that helps!
Hello I'm looking for a loop who would detect the rhythm at the first guitar chords played and with whom I can launch the drum rhythm at the foot !! I have an RC 300 from boss but he doesn't do all that would you have any advice to give me to solve my solution ! However thé RC 300 as soon as you stop the first track all the rhythm stop which is not practical because I am looking for an Uber that continues the rhythm to be able to pass on other chords for différent verse for example or the chorus ! Looping with thé louper of Ableton màke that well but i dont Want anti computer in live bécause not So Surely and not very easy. Thanks for your answer
You can do this from the RC600. You will preset the actual rhythm, but it will always match the tempo that you have recorded at. You can leave it running even when you stop loops, and start/stop from your foot etc. The RC600 will take quite a lot of learning to use - so be prepared for that if you get one!
not sure quite what timing you're referencing, but think i'm using an overdrive and delay - sharing my settings very soon so you can copy exactly haha. They're not quite launched but will be part way down the page here when I get it sussed! www.davidshanhun.com/shop
@@davidshanhun thank you this is amazing but please can u do a video on your channel on how to make the exact setup of your amazing (massive) pedal board?
i use mode 1 button 1 to 6 track start stop overdub. / mode 2 button 1to 4 input effect ABCD / button 5 effects bank down button 6 bypass effects ...... same for mode 3 except for track effects i also use a FCB1010 midi foot controller 10 buttons 2 expresion peadls all working with my rc600 no mod
nope! ....actually more of a tricky question - it does do harmonies similar, but you have to program the key for each song, or send it midi information for each song - it won't read your guitar or instrument input to auto-sense what is being played and match it. So depending on how you wish to use it - it could be a yes or a no haha!
Hey mate with your vastly more advanced knowledge of all things one man loop I’m hoping you can help I currently foot tap a four on the floor beat with a traditional “stompbox” live which is great for song dynamics live though I’d like have my foot free to do more looping to do more looping Im looking for some sort of beat machine to take care of my stomps with tap tempo and importantly velocity control of the kick drum on an expression pedal !! I could buy macschine plus or something similar but I’m trying to avoid bringing laptops and similar to pubs Beat buddy and similar pedals are great but no velocity control Have you ever experimented with this idea or know of anything that might do the job ?? Much appreciated Cheers
@@davidshanhun an old boss RC 3 for now but will most likely pick up the 500 to take advantage of the kick drum options there Can do tap tempo /start stop / from the unit and volume on a expression pedal It seems like the best compromise unless you can think of something I’m missing ?? @@QuickSticks8771 you can edit the drums on the 500 in terms of what is used - not 100% sure on editing the velocity though. My other thought was you could load your own drum samples as loops into various units, edited to suit appropriate velocity before importing etc.
@@davidshanhun yeah nah , nothing can manipulate velocity in real-time unless you bring a laptop/ mobile daw type unit I’ve discovered. I’ve also had the multiple velocity drum loop on separate switches idea too But it would need to have tap tempo tho to be a truly useful live instrument Think something like the new headrush prime can import samples then adjust the speed without changing pitch Anywho had no idea my simple idea would end up being this complicated

Will have to do with my rc300 for now which I haven't yet used for a live show. Just a question David since you say you use layers by pressing the same button. Are the lights on the unit visible in direct sunlight or under color lighting on stage ???
hey brother! The lights are terrible in sunlight haha. While there's lots of good things in the new unit - there are a lot of 'fails' in my opinion too haha.
@@davidshanhun thanks David, Well I guess it would be the same issue with any foot unit. Have an old Digitech BP50 bass guitar processor and i couldn;'t see the display in direct sunlight too. Guess that we gotta find a way around any issues.
@@scrivmusic453 cool - you can program assigns to do this. if you don't have an external control pedal, set the assign to the fx button for that memory. you will need 2 assigns - 1 will be to 'start/stop' loop 2 (verse), and the 2nd assign will be to 'start/stop' loop 3 (chorus). you could use different loops depending on how you set it up but that's the basics. When loop two is playing it will stop it and start loop 3 and vice versa!

Thanks, yeah I tried updated to latest firmware and doing factory reset. Froze a couple more times this morning - only unplugging power does anything. From what I read, sometimes you just get a glitchy unit - some owners have no issues at all 👍 think I'll get it swapped out and try again!

Thanks bro
Not really sure what your questions are here - are you able to rephrase or explain?
@@davidshanhun I use vlive for 10+ years on gig..vlive has microphone output so ı can set my sound on mixer and my guitar sound on mixer separately ..but rc 600 has main output and how can ı set my vocal and guitar separately on mixer(PA system)..for example from sub out my vocal and guitar from main out İs it possible?
2)if yes it is1/4 jaq line not mic ..is it enough sound for gig ?
My RC300 froze on me several times as well. I just ordered an RC600, in hopes that I wouldn't have the freeze problem. Then I hear that yours froze. GRR!
oh no! It's been pretty good since tbh - so i'm guessing perhaps it genuinely got too hot - was a hot day gig in the sun so may have been the cause? I have had another issue similar, but have now done a bunch of gigs with no problems! Good thing is you can back up your unit and settings etc, so even if you got a replacement - you can load up the new/replacement one all set and ready to go!
So good to see that Mr loop is back ! Does the setup of your demo it « tricky » to make David?
OK David the RC 600 seems to be a good machine but have all the bugs you don't talk about in your previous videos been fixed
@@antoinenioi6863 yeah it's a cool unit. no the bugs haven't all been fixed, but you can work with the unit consistently at least.
@@davidshanhun thanks a lot David for your précious advices ! Antoine from France
most welcome! @@antoinenioi6863
what sound effect name is it when you were bending the strings to make an electric sound
not sure quite what timing you're referencing, but think i'm using an overdrive and delay - sharing my settings very soon so you can copy exactly haha. They're not quite launched but will be part way down the page here when I get it sussed! www.davidshanhun.com/shop

Sweet! Looking for to the sequels. One question up front: Does the unit also do proper vocal harmonies, similar to the VE-500?
nope! ....actually more of a tricky question - it does do harmonies similar, but you have to program the key for each song, or send it midi information for each song - it won't read your guitar or instrument input to auto-sense what is being played and match it. So depending on how you wish to use it - it could be a yes or a no haha!
Can each track overdub??
Hey mate with your vastly more advanced knowledge of all things one man loop I’m hoping you can help
I currently foot tap a four on the floor beat with a traditional “stompbox” live which is great for song dynamics live though I’d like have my foot free to do more looping to do more looping
Im looking for some sort of beat machine to take care of my stomps with tap tempo and importantly velocity control of the kick drum on an expression pedal !! I could buy macschine plus or something similar but I’m trying to avoid bringing laptops and similar to pubs
Beat buddy and similar pedals are great but no velocity control
Have you ever experimented with this idea or know of anything that might do the job ??
Much appreciated
Cheers
Which loop pedal are you using?
@@davidshanhun an old boss RC 3 for now but will most likely pick up the 500 to take advantage of the kick drum options there
Can do tap tempo /start stop / from the unit and volume on a expression pedal
It seems like the best compromise unless you can think of something I’m missing ??
Didn’t realize controlling drum velocity /dynamics live would be as resource hungry as it seems to be
Cheers
@@QuickSticks8771 you can edit the drums on the 500 in terms of what is used - not 100% sure on editing the velocity though. My other thought was you could load your own drum samples as loops into various units, edited to suit appropriate velocity before importing etc.
@@davidshanhun yeah nah , nothing can manipulate velocity in real-time unless you bring a laptop/ mobile daw type unit I’ve discovered.
I’ve also had the multiple velocity drum loop on separate switches idea too
But it would need to have tap tempo tho to be a truly useful live instrument
Think something like the new headrush prime can import samples then adjust the speed without changing pitch
Anywho had no idea my simple idea would end up being this complicated
@@davidshanhun thanks for your replies to me long questions
Loving what you do wish you much success!!
Have you recorded an acoustic guitar through a mic for looping so it sounds like a real acoustic guitar?
no I haven't
Great to know you're using your new looper on stage. Great video explaining the layers and effects etc in the looper. Wish I had or could afford a boss rc600.
Quick question I’m new to looping mate thanks for the vids… how do you go to another chord progression for a chorus??
what pedal are you using?
@@davidshanhun boss rc-300
@@scrivmusic453 cool - you can program assigns to do this. if you don't have an external control pedal, set the assign to the fx button for that memory. you will need 2 assigns - 1 will be to 'start/stop' loop 2 (verse), and the 2nd assign will be to 'start/stop' loop 3 (chorus). you could use different loops depending on how you set it up but that's the basics. When loop two is playing it will stop it and start loop 3 and vice versa!
How did you get the 4-on-the-floor beat? I had the rc500 where you could remove parts of the percussion set from the rhythm, but I'm not seeing that on the 600. Thanks!
heya, it's under 'guide' when choosing your style. Let me know if you find it or if not i'll give clearer instructions haha - not by the unit atm!
Just bought an RC600 and on the first day of use it froze 5-6 times. Has yours ever frozen or did i just get a lemon?
that doesn't sound great man! Mine froze at the first gig and then another time later - had to pull power out completely to reset. what software version is it running? But that's twice in many gigs and over a year of owning it.
Thanks, yeah I tried updated to latest firmware and doing factory reset. Froze a couple more times this morning - only unplugging power does anything. From what I read, sometimes you just get a glitchy unit - some owners have no issues at all 👍 think I'll get it swapped out and try again!
@@jonpickford351 yep that's pretty much what I've gathered also - some units are ace and some are not! Let me know how you get on with the next one out of curiosity!

Does it not kill you there's NO TUNER on this thing?! Not even about the money I had to buy a Boss TU-3 pedal and I hate the hassle of the dongle setup so much I don't tune. Like how could they build something that does everything but tune? Maybe if enough people ask Boss to include a tuner in a future update they'll finally listen?
What model guitar is that?

Small practical question: how do you note the structure of your songs on your ipad? When to send the bass? stop a track? etc... With the chords + the lyrics it's sometimes difficult to read everything live... I know you have to repeat a lot to have automatisms but if you have any advice, thank you very much in advance 🙏
