    My dad had a Zagato in 1971, it was a 1.3 1969 model in a fabulous original metallic colour, called Rosso Mirabella, it was absolutely gorgeous, so gorgeous intact that it attracted attention wherever it went. On one very memorable occasion a chap on his bicycle was so captivated by it's beauty he couldn't keep his eyes off it as we drove by and ended up falling of his bicycle as he turned his head watching us in awe as we drove by, a very funny and memorable moment. My Dad loved the car so much , he would film it on his 8mm cine camera, which when I watch them today they bring back so many memories. The Zagato was a truly beautiful car, a work of art in my opinion and way ahead of it's time in so many respects.

    The diameter of the exhaust is extremely important on these little V4 engines from Lancia. The original diameter gives you the original performance and engine characteristics, as designed by Lancia. Even a small change in diameter makes a significant difference. On my Appia (the Fulvia's older brother), we experimented with different pipes and even the smallest change was noticeable. Lancia knew their stuff. Keep it to original specs all the way.

  • @garyhargreaves5630
    @garyhargreaves5630 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Looks great Harry. Just a quick one on the Carb intake stacks, two of these could be longer than the other two due to the asymmetric port lengths across the Narrow angle Lancia V4. From the back of the engine coming forward it should be short/long/short/long and ideally the difference in length should be circa 100mm? This would certainly help to equalize the induction port length. 👍🏻

    • @stephencox4224
      @stephencox4224 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can change the trumpet lengths but that does not alter the fact that the position of the Emulsion tubes within the carburettors are always at different lengths in regard to the position of the inlet valves and that is why when all said and done a vacuum check will not be 100 percent accurate as was shown because one reading was done on a short intake length and the other on a long intake length but because the Radiator precludes measuring the front port then you do no 2 on the first carburettor and no 4 on the second carburettor as they are both the same length inlet tract and then the tricky part is setting the idle mixture screws and in that area experience with Fulvia V 4 engines is of great importance as they are an art to get as close to perfect as you can.

    • @Priapos93
      @Priapos93 ปีที่แล้ว

      Didn't they mention something about other trumpet options? I got the impression they wanted to see how it worked with this setup before deciding whether to see if a different setup would work better.

    Fabulous video. Magical stage of the process.
    Anyone who has ever rebuilt a car will appreciate the immense complexity of the mechanicals required to get an old car moving under its own motive power.
    Anyone who has ever rebuilt a car will recall the magic of the noise, sounds, smells, sensations of its rebirth - they’re old memories reborn!
    This video captures these emotions succinctly.
    I remember getting an old mini going again, and feeling similar sensations. It didn’t need doors or a dashboard - just as long as I could feel and hear the thing going again, I was happy to have my car back. Just as in this case, the rebuilt engine was more powerful, cleaner and stronger than the rusty old thing that it once was - but felt instantly familiar.
