- Hello, welcome back to another video. in this video I try to revive this abandoned 2004 mustang GT. this car was left on a property about 2 months ago. the owner of the property decided to sell the car after many attempts to get the car running himself. it's believed that there is a security problem keeping the car from starting. the car was left with receipts that say the car had cams, exhaust, and tune done. so let's see if I can get this one on the road. if you liked this video leave a like, Comment, and subscribe. Thank You.
Can’t beat the sound of a mustang
Definitely not, these 2V 4.6 sounds great.
@@AutoExec1I love the way the 2v's and 3v's mustangs sound👍🏼👍🏼
Yeah yeah
My concern would be the tan airbag on the black interior. That tells me it was in an accident which is why ur headlight may for be gapped properly and the source of your airbag light. These new edges are so easy to work om though and you can source a whole new interior from a junkyard for cheap.
Yes it was definitely wrecked. There is ALOT of stuff missing on the front end lol. But that is true, the parts are easily accessed and cheap. I love these cars.
I wanna say the steering column was replaced and the key sensor doesn't match the key. I had a 2000 f150 the shifter broke I replaced the entire column around the ignition is a ring that has a sensor that matches the chip inside the key it wouldn't start
You just showed where your kill switch is. the kill switch is there for a reason its there to prevent it being stolen
I had no idea it was there or what it was 😂
You have to switch the kill switch move it to a place where no one sees it only u know where it is a kill switch u can get creative with it
Next time to show the kill switch cuz a thief might see the vid and try to find where u live
But keep up the good work man
@@AutoExec1make sure to change your kill switch spot its a reminder
literally found one the other day! trying to get in contact with the owners to see if i can save it, would be a sick project.
You should definitely film it if you end up getting it.
In an old car like this I would not even worry about an accident. If you we're buying a 40k plus CPO car then it is important. For an old car to play around with, it is almost expected
Just found your channel. It’s cool you’re finding these new edge cars and bringing them back to life!
Thank you, I enjoy fixing these cars.
She sounds MEAN... hell yeah
Thank you, I plan on putting some flomaster 10s on it next.
I had a ball joint break on a 71 ford LTD when I was younger and the wheel folded up under the fender. I was lucky I had just pulled out from a stop sign.
i would definitely change those battery cable ends they look real rough.
You're in OKC, I thought that 7-11 looked familiar, I grew up down in that area.
Dude's got my heart the only car I ever owned was the mustang GT 88 notchback, speed and density, had the Motorsport headers on it, a b&m shifter the old flowmasters they stopped making it rained low 13s all day long with bologna skins on it it was a blue one and it was hard top too, 😔. Thank you for letting me share on your channel. Sweet ride buddy I hope to be out there one day again.. God bless you all and family 🙏
What happened to your ride brother is she still rolling ??
That sounds like a sweet mustang man. I appreciate you stopping by to check out my video. Do you still have yours?
Hey thanks I told the story a couple of times somebody drugged me took me for a ride and put me through the passenger side window, I'm telling you please you must really I read it the motor was never touched 🥲 it was a 88 GT blue notchback it was the speed and density that the throttle told the motor what to do it wasn't mass air I'm telling you turbo cars Grand Nationals LT1 Camaro, s. Firehawks, on the street nobody had anything for it there was a gentleman I'm not BS and you all you can research him real fast guy in Maryland, his name is Chris little, he did it 2,88 aod, GT, they put it in the 12, just messing with it tuning it up, but I'm telling you when I pulled fourth gear at 4800, my 85 mile an hour speedometer, was buried fellas, thank you all for letting me vent, God bless you
@@Akac3sh thank you. You really had me thinking about it bro
@@AutoExec1 thank you so much for letting me vent
ngl from someone who works on cars, watching you diagnose cars is hard to watch, you did so many steps backwards.
Womp womp 😢
Lol then you'll be really tore up to hear that I'm a professional mechanic 😂 shit aside, I did it in such order cause I already knew what was wrong. So I skipped the other 9 thousand steps.
Professional that doesn't know what a hose clamp is😂😂😂 wonder if he tried to turn the motor by hand before he bought it .. Doubt it 😂
OMG 😂😂😂 those battery cables😂😂😂
Find a new occupation😂
You can abandon an sn95 for years and it's almost always a guaranteed start up
That's true, this is my 10th GT. They are amazing cars.
That was originally a v6, and someone swapped a v8. Nice find regardless, and nice job on finding it.👍
Damn, how can you tell? And thank you it runs good.
@@AutoExec1 because is doesnt have any gt badges and the pony emblems on the side are a dead giveaway and the bumper covers on the gt are different than the v6. Also the gt mustangs sit lower because they have different suspension. There are other ways to tell that it was originally a v6, those are just off the top of my head.
@@SicilianSVT All 04 Mustang V6’s, GT’s and Mach 1’s had the 40th anniversary badges on the fenders, which is what this car has. Also that is a factory GT bumper. Speedo goes to 150, has leather seats with the stitched running horse and the GT hood. Headlights are not correct for 01-04 but were probably swapped out. Imo everything looks right for it to be a factory GT
@@Everarmed89 no GT badge on back bumper, and no residue or holes for it either
@@Cameron78998rear bumper has cut outs for exhaust, v6 didn’t come with those
Wish I could find an abandoned GT Mustang in the S197 body style myself, that'd be dope lol.
That would be awesome. They are there but probably completely totaled.
i like the tips its the reason i clicked on video
They are growing on me lol
They look like 5 inch tips I got 4 inch on my 2017 mustang tbh I wanna move up to 5 inch but black tips I got stainless double wall chrome tip for now
we doing revivals of these cars now i remeber when this car was regular
I hope you have a lot of money to fix it up. Just a supercharger (new) goes for a little over $4000. New seats will be pricey also. New injectors, fuel pump, and so on.
New Edge's will always look good in any generation.
Agreed!
i had a killswitch in mine too... found out i had one when one day it didn't start when i wanted to go to school... although mine did turn over... it just wouldn't start untill you flipped the switch.
That's wild. I've never even seen a kill switch on one of these.
the gas station starting you were definitely not letting it crank enough. 2v's have a pretty extended crank.
Yeah and it's cammed. It's starting fine now with a proper crank.
Hard to find a stick these days!!! What a great find!!!
Yeah, and it's cammed! Thank you.
Fords must have clean and tight battery terminals, that mess ...I'm surprised lights come on...new terminals maybe new cables, clean up ..
Never heard the magnet thing before. I do know on reprogramming the keys though, 8x between accessory and off within ~15 seconds will program the key in this generation. Have done so on my 04 GT to get another key added before (Spent $1 to get another key for mine 10 years ago). Likely guessing probable kill switch that you found but you should know the ease of reprogramming these keys.
Tan airbag on black interior and misgapped headlight,
Tells me it was wrecked along the way.
Yes it definitely was. It seems to drive straight though thankfully.
great video, I like how you show your thought process. and reasons
Thank you, many more videos on this car coming soon!
We need to keep the SN95's alive! Hope it goes well on this one. Subscribed
Yes we do, I think it will. This seems to be a good car. Thank you very much.
We had the same problem with our '91 Camaro after we had someone mess around with it for a reason I can't exactly remember. The problem was the Anti theft computer was messed up, thinking our key wasn't the right one. But hey, everyone gets different situations, lol
You have to hold the key longer for it to start not just flick it on
Yeah I keep forgetting it's cammed lol
That’s nice brother I liked that and it’s a stick oh yeah I loved that style
Thank you, yes sir I definitely like the manual transmissions more on these.
Abandoned? So who was the owner? Isn’t that considered property theft if the property owner tried to take it for himself and then after failing deciding to sell it?
I had a 96’ Taurus that had the theft issue on it too. It wasn’t reading the key well in the column. I kept trying multiple things and one of the things that I would have to do is just tilt the steering wheel down then turn the key
Love thise tips honestly, looks really aggressive!
Thank you, I think I'll keep them.
anybody think homeboy bought a hot car
😂😂
I love them 4.6 two valves they were reliable engines as long as you don't put too much boost on them they are reliable the 4.8 four valve was even better
That's true, about 400hp is it.
@@AutoExec1 i agreed anything beyond that especially with a supercharger on top it will throw a rod
Get some clean battery terminals. And clean the ground points on the engine wiring harness connecting to the battery terminals and you will be all set to go you won't have that problem no more. I had the same issue. And a bad corroded ground wire can stop the current from the battery to give enough power to start the car. That's why when you turn the key on everything goes blank. It's grounding out it's a easy fix. Get you some battery terminals tho. And clean the battery wire cables and grounds of the wiring harness. It will run like new. It's not the anti theft system if the key turns off the light that means the computer responded to the programmed key
Nice looking engine for it being abandoned good find 👌
Seat belt warning kept going off cause of the transmission sitting in the back. The weight makes the sensor think someone's sitting there
Dude do you know diddly squat about working on cars and people whatever you do do not listen to that battery trick if you do that you are running an extremely high risk of destroying your car's computer think of it as if you were to take the positive and negative terminal on the battery and connect them together it would fry itself I know you do not need a bigger battery as long as it is powerful enough to put out 12.4 volts it can run your car and come on dude you just got that car and just barely even looked at it you couldn't even look at the car enough to notice the fact that they had a kill switch what was with you just magically thinking that the car is going to fix itself by sitting there and turning the key a bunch of times and why would you think that there's some sort of magnet trick to reset the key there's nothing to reset there is no key fob there is no keyless entry there is no electronics in that key whatsoever if you take the battery terminals off of the battery yes it will possibly reset the computer but whatever you do do not touch them together you are taking a enclosed circuit and connecting it to itself that is how you fry the entire system like come on people think smarter not harder 😔
The gap in headlight is the weather stripping fell apart and gone usually there’s a piece of rubber there. Happens on I feel like every new edge
I was thinking that panel wasn't straight, but after looking at it it looks like you are right. Should be as simple as a new headlight. Thanks for pointing that.
Hey auto exec those wheels on your gt are from a 2004 mercury marauder I had a friend who had one of those, those wheels look good though👍🏻
Those wheels are worth some money, nothing crazy. Those are Mercury marauder wheels
I just posted them on marketplace. I didn't know they were marauder wheels or that they were worth anything. Thanks for the info.
@@AutoExec1yep they are just missing the Mercury center caps
Of course it's going to start those are the best ones ever made even better than the new ones today.. keep it stock just upgrade the exhaust and air filter
Yes sir, these are amazing cars.
That sounded amazing ....when you got it to start!
Thank you, I have big plans for this car.
That intermittent chiming sound isn’t the seat belt reminder…
that thing sounds like a fun dough nut ripper
Sounds good great buy
I’m in awe of this video.
Good or bad?
Nothing screams I live in the hood like fake metal floor mats and a kill switch
😂 MAAAN
Those appear to be Mercury Marauder wheels with black center caps. worth some money and i want them lol
I want some original 04 GT rims for it.
My 01 Grand Marquis had a similar issue to where the factory key was malfunctioning in the ignition switch, causing the security light to flash and not start the car. I ended up replacing the crankshaft and camshaft position sensors and it fired right up. Security light never came back on after that. (They have the same 2V 4.6 engine as the Mustang does, with the intake being on the opposite side, and the lower power tune from the factory).
Thought it was a joke the whole time lol. Cheers to you my friend.
Lol thank you!
man she's hacked hacked and hacked. but it does sound amazing. it's crazy how much better it sounds than it looks lol
Yeah it's in baaad shape.
Just found this video. What year is the car? Cus you never say in the video. Good video. I am Looking forward to you giving this older mustang some love.
It's a 2004 anniversary. Thanks for watching!
@@AutoExec1
Very Nice. Yeah love that she manual too. So many new cars/trucks and even Semis trucks are all auto now. There also too much tech in them It’s horrible. Imo older Vehicles are better imo. Prob run circles around any new shit as long they properly maintained.
I leaned how drive on my dads old Red and White 1986 F-150 4x4 that has 302 v8, 5 speed farm truck. I she had bo low 1st gear. So you started off in 2nd gear unless your hauling or was stuck, so then you 1st gear. She had heavy duty springs and locking hubs. My dad even shows me how float gear in her. Miss those days hah. Looking forward to see what you do with that old Mustang, best of luck:)
@@AutoExec1how many miles does she?
You would have been fine getting on it since no crowds were around 😂
🤣😂
Just from the outside view and having multiple of these sn95 based cars. It’s been wrecked. I also can see that it’s possible that at bare minimum the control arm on that passenger side is bent or the whole kmember is tweaked, had that happen before too.
How can you tell the control arm may be bent?
Love your new find always fun to have something fun to do.
Thank you, and yes I enjoy fixing these mustangs.
That thing sounds so good
Thank you, it's a good car.
Test the voltage on the battery and see thats its above 10volts. Lower than that and you'll have no crank no start. Thats the first thing to do. connect a jumper cable directly from the battery to the starter solenoid with the key on and see if that does it.
It ended up being that switch. Thank you for the advice though.
That switch next to the hood release, moving your foot around with the clutch to get it started, that could be a kill switch. The switch down would make the car not want to turn on.
That actually ended up being exactly what it was lol thank you.
@@AutoExec1 :)
Amazing work 🫡
Thank you sir!
The previous owner: 👁️ 👄 👁️
😂😂😂😂
did you try moving the trans from the back seat to where its supposed to be?
Why did you not see if that switch under the dash was a kill switch? I was very curious about it.
I want to see more. Very nice and entertaining. You got a new sub
You definitely will. And thank you very much.
Last cool design for the mustang in my opinion!👍❤
I definitely agree. Aside from the 1st Gen, these are my favorite.
Have you heard of the s197?
YOU PEOPLE ARE NUTS
Just advice Never run below a Quarter of a tank on fuel it Will smoke the fuel pump and there Not cheap or fun to do On the startin there know to go bad on the ignition switch on the column And I Do like the Grill insert
I definitely won't, amd yes that grill is horrible.
Yes David the startin issue keeps up with the problem Replace the ignition switch on the colum as my 94 GT Mustang did the same thing As I'm old school and if I knew it would fit my 94 I'd Gladly buy the Grill from you
Sounds insane ❤
Those are 2005+ pony package mustang v6 wheels aka Mercury Marauder wheels they are identical in style just one is polished and one is chrome and forged and cast...they go for good money so you'll be able to make good money on them
I did not know that, thanks for that information. I was going to sell them for around $300.
Id try to get a lil more usually $500 or so if not get what you can get...I'd post them as mercury marauder wheels to get more interest 👌
@junkyardjimusa1195 I definitely will man thanks.
I got one currently with a similar issue, theft like flashes but it turns over but won't idle. She wants to start but wont
Looks just like tropical manor in Merritt island fl
GOOD LUCK RICKY! I’m posting a video shortly on this video! 2 Weeks for my subscribers
Thanks Ave!
according to what I read in my owners manual for my 02, a rapidly flashing theft means the theft system is not working as it should. The theft light should flash once every couple of seconds if its working as intended. Could be the reason its not starting?
my theft light flashes and use to not start from it but i got a new key made and the new key made it start right up
how about taking the battery to a parts store get it checked and buy some new battery terminals and clean the cables wood be a start.
Didn't you post this yesterday I could be wrong
I did. Had complications with youtube so I had to delete and repost.
Order a new key and key switch and get right size battery had same issue in my 2002 Ford mustang
you just gotta hold the starter a wee longer
I’m always afraid of taking my 92 foxbody out and not starting. 😰
Please fix this one up and don’t sale it, would love to see it being supercharged in future
the ignition might be because of the battery i would boost it with another car
tbh someone probably stole that shit and said alr ima come back to use you as a getaway
Id be fixing clear coat front seats few other things and leve it at that
I have owned a couple of stangs and not ashamed of it.but rather have the bowtie
my mustang always yelled at me about my seatbelt when i had it on
not me yelling at you that the kill switch is right there and that the battery is fine 😂😂😭
Lol maaan I'm glad I hit that. Otherwise I may have bought a battery and all kinds of stuff.
Fairly noticible theft switch, sounds dirty. Probobly a dealers car
Put a correct battery terminal connector on, the terminal being loose as hell like that will cause it to not turn over. And battery looks like dogshit to. Either way the wiring the previous person has on there isn’t safe at all.
Mine didn't have a kill switch in it none but still had same issue lmao
id b finding the fuze box n checking them of at least
Even with a manual car do u not have to have your foot on clutch and brake?
Leave the key on in the on position for thirty to forty minutes and it will start
Those are Mercury Marauder wheels. The four door cobras as they call them.
Please give that thing a cleaning on the inside because it's nasty in there.
not trying to sound like kid genius mechanic i know alot of different things about vehicles
if you dont want those rims can i get them off you?
Yes sir, I want to get $400 for them.
Guy must have bumbed the switch getting out
I think that's exactly what happened thankfully.
At 24:00 you let off the key quick both times. All you had to do was hold it longer lol. This guy.
Yeah lol not use to the long crank.
Probably clutch switch or starter god knows with ford i had 1 i was working on under dash saw a red light flashing and was a button i pushed it and started right up
You know, you just got this. You know nothing about this car.
And you don't mess with anything on that car. Uh, you're gonna pay for afterwards.
I would check the maf sensor
Better batt cable for better grips
Yeah the one that's on it is trashed.
