Watching the judgmental haters here, otherwise known as 'the left,' attack the so-called 'flat earthers' is so tiresome. When you go to a Star Trek convention and all these people walk around as aliens, none of them BELIEVE they're aliens. It is for fun! Entertainment. Same with the so-called 'flat earth' thing. Your first clue is: hundreds of vids like this mocking the so-called flat earthers, but have you ever seen a channel that actually BELIEVES the earth is a flat disk floating in space rather than a sphere? Show me one. Can't, can you? Sorry, this whole anti-flat earth thing is a sad joke. Worse, the only people on earth who don't know the earth is a sphere are lost times of indigenous people: the North Sentinalese, and remote tribes in the Amazon and Africa. So really people like you, Dave McKeegan, are mocking these indigenous people for their ignorance. Well, I say that's despicable. Leave them alone. We need to preserve the diversity of humanity, not mock it into submission under TH-cam videos and 'safe speech' rule of the leftist haters.
Why don’t you do the final experiment in Barrow Alaska or see the 24 hour sun in Alaska that would cost way less than going to Antarctica
Funny that they'd rather try and somehow include a polar day sun into their nonexistent model rather than just admit that they didn't understand the globe model in the first place
Particularly since many of them have been saying that a 24 hour sun is impossible on the flat earth...
Thats the neat part of not having a model 😂. They have a separate one for every argument

Flerfiies' copium levels are through the dome. Last year they said: "No one can go to Antarctica! This proves flat earth!" This year they say: "Please don't take me to Antarctica! It will destroy my flat cult!"

@@realbrickbreadYesterday, one was confidently claiming that they will see a 25 hour sun "because the dome does it"

Since there is no 'official' flat earth map, you can't use one to disprove the flat earth. Of course, there never will be an official flat earth map because the earth is in reality an oblate spheroid.
Exactly. They don't really provide us anything about their model for us to use against them. All they can do is attempt to poke holes in our model
I even heard that as defence.
"But even if we ser 24h sun, it still only disproves this FE map, and not other models from x religions"
Some are already claiming that the 24 hour Sun would actually prove Flat Earth
@@korosensei4384 Which tells you they don't actually understand the models from those religions, as nearly all describe the sun travelling under the Earth at night via tunnels/rivers/etc, something that obviously wouldn't work with a 24 hour sun either.
Flerfs get really mad when you ask them to provide a flat earth-based atlas that can be used for actual navigation.
What worries me about genuine FE belief is that it seems to represent a militant, dogmatic distrust of institutional knowledge. Nothing from "them" can repudiate their beliefs. And if one of their own members finds evidence against their beliefs, they either have to make leaps of logic or insist their data is compromised by THEM. When distrust of institutions is that deep-seated, I see no way of fixing it, and it speaks of a much bigger systemic and cultural problem that can only have catastrophic consequences.
This is because we lived through a time where “they” will destroy counties because “they” know there are WMDs. “They” have done thousands of things to lose trust.
It's the internet.
It's connected the earth socially. So it let's people of any shared belief or interst all get together. The issue this also creates is an echo chamber of, say, 10,000 people. They see all the people agreeing with them, and it gives them a sense of justification. They forget that 10000 < 8,000,000,000.

The fact that spherical trigonometric calculations work better for finding shorter flight routes must be like a child trying to put a square peg through a round hole for Flat Earthers. When math reflects reality, no amount of imagination can refute it.
I'm in the latter stages of an essay on celestial navigation in the 18th,19th & early 20th century. Even the most ardent flerfs agree that such navigation was a 'Gold standard'. And yet, every element, every calculation is based on SPHERICAL trigonometry. Euclidean SOHCAHTOA geometry only features in shorter distance, coastal navigation, where, to reduce the amount of necessary calculation, we can " assume" that the earth is flat. The caveat is that the errors introduced by this assumption & approximation are smaller than the natural errors implicit in sailing & navigating a boat through 24 hours.
It goes into square hole
@@chassetterfield9559 Euclidean calcs will get you loxodromic routes, which are fine in a lot of cases, but definitely not for finding ones position from astronomical sightings, hah hah.

I live in Canada, in the Eastern Time Zone.
I can call my sister, also in the EST, at sunset for her - 8:45 PM - but I will still have 3 minutes of sunshine. Meanwhile, my friend in Windsor Ontario - also in EST - will have the sun up for a full 20 minutes longer.
At the same time, Iqaluit, due north of me, will have the sun in the sky until 10:17PM.
On December 17, Iqaluit will see the sunset at 1:46 PM, while Ottawa, Ontario, in the same time zone but 2100 KM due south, will see the sun until 4:22 PM.
I lived in the arctic, where we experienced 24 hour darkness in winter, and 24 hour daylight in summer. Anyone can travel the arctic without restriction to experience these global phenomena themselves. And you can call your Flat Earth friends in the same time zone to compare what you see in the sky, including when the sun sets, rises, and the position of celestial bodies.
Nothing but a globe earth explains any of this, and it doesn't take special equipment or permission for any individual to check it out for themselves.
Similarly, in South Africa, in the north near the Tropic of Capricorn, in summer, the days are shorter there than for the southern coast, about 1000km further away. The sun sets first for the northern part, which also goes to show that the sun does not set by going too far away.
North and south also have different constellations - how could that be possible in flat earth?

Or even the USA in many cases. You don't hear them saying that the USA cannot be visited because you might need paperwork to do so.
Also, when going to a hostile place, like a desert, which Antarctica is, for the first time, it is advisable to make use of a guide or someone that knows the conditions. There are so many things that the general public don't know about (like what to do about water), that they would not survive the trip.
Naturally, if there's even the slightest obstacle they'll drag their feet, refuse to engage, call it fascism or whatever that it's even a requirement, then claim any footage was faked, and it's not fair that they can't just do whatever they want as Free People or whatever. Even if you go down there with multiple live-streaming cameras 24/7 and walk across the antarctic five different ways, they will point at the one minute one camera lost its connection and say everything is fake.
Exactly. The theists among them need the Earth to be flat for their favorite version of god to be true and for their lives to have meaning. The atheists need the Earth to be flat for their favorite conspiracy theories about the ultra-wealthy or The Matrix to be true and for their lives to have meaning. It's crazy how they claim a globe earth is unrealistic and doesn't make sense but then get twisted up with these extremely complicated maps, models, and spiels of "reasoning" just to explain the sun. Or how distance on the earth works. Or why stuff goes below the horizon. Or literally anything that works fine with a globe.

Geocentrism needed a lot of tweaks (like planets having to loop around to account for the fact they were, in fact, not orbiting around the Earth) to get an accurate model, and when heliocentrism was proposed it worked way better, with less janky little bits.

@@attila0323 flat earthers may not be that smart, but they are creative, I'm sure they'll figure out some wild way of explaining it
Yah , that's likely what they are working on ❤
It'd be wild to see them trying to push a map that centers the azimuthal equidistant projection around the south pole instead of the north pole. Have you ever seen what that one looks like? North America and Russia/China are massively distorted and mostly unrecognizable in that projection. Those areas plus Greenland basically form a wall that surrounds South America, Antarctica, and Australia. Not as well as the north pole centered AE projection makes Antarctica look like a wall. But it does the job well enough.
I forget the link now but at some point a few years ago I used a site that came up as one of the top search results about the AE projection to generate AE projection maps based around different centers. You can feed it any coordinates you want, like centering it around the city you live in. And it gives you a pdf with the generated map. Out of curiosity I generated and saved five maps from it. I asked for 90S0E (south pole center), 90N0E (north pole center), 0N0E (center near Africa), 0N90W (center near central America), and 0N90E (center between India and Australia). It was kinda neat to see how they each turned out because of what's close enough to the center to look fairly normal and what gets massively distorted for being nearer to the edge.
I think the one that's centered near Africa actually has the neatest overall look out of those options. Nothing is quite so far out that it morphs into a wall around the edge. Most continents maintain a fairly reasonable shape in that one. The other four projections I saved all ended up with at least one continent stretched around the edge.
Something that I thought would've been a neat gag with generated maps like that (something which I did not generate or save at the time when I found whatever site I'm talking about) would be to change the parameters for generating the north pole and south pole centered maps to have them each only generate from pole to equator (nothing farther out than that) and then you print them both out and stick them back to back so that together they make up a "coin Earth" model to troll the flerfs with. (Try to sell that to them as the proper flat map. Something that's very much just taking the globe and squishing it flat in one axis. Like flattening a grapefruit in a hydraulic press.) There would be stuff on both sides that wouldn't get too distorted, although everything along the equator would be pretty ****ed.
the difference is that we already melted the north summer icecap, so they can't use that. once antarctica melts, they'll have a tough time coming up with anything.

There is an interesting parallel here. Antarctica is one of the most hostile environments for humans' existence on Earth, and at the same time, a flat earther's brain contemplating Antartica is one of the most hostile environments for rational thought on Earth.
I hate how the antarctica FE comments talk like they are 100% right and act like they been all over the world and went further than their basments.
They like to make a case that you can't explore Antarctica freely. Yes, there are protected areas. Most of them are small isolated areas around the coast (where the penguins and seal are). The ones in the hinterland are small areas, few and far between, around mountains tops that are breeding grounds for Snow Petrels, other birds and plants (yes, there are lichens that grow on the rocks) and tardigrades (micro-organisms). There are also some grass areas. What do they think the annual teams do? Sit inside the base all year? No, the ornithologists are out on trips checking on and looking for other bird colonies, the geologists are out looking for new rock samples and the biologists out looking for other plant and animal life. There is very little of Antarctica that has not been visited. What do they think is being hidden there? The protected areas are small, only a few square kms. Not enough to hide where the dome is supposed to be.

Never mind Antarctica, REALITY causes so many problems for Flat Earth, especially the southern hemisphere.
Well Antartica is part of the Southern hemisphere afterall. And the more south you go the bigger the issues becomes for FE, and guess what lies at the most Southern point of the Southern hemisphere. So yes Antartica is like one of the biggest issues for FE
Also flight paths in the Southern Hemisphere are a massive problem for flat earth. For example, the direct flight from Sydney to Santiago is impossible on flat earth, and disproves the existence of a flat earth.
Forget about Antarctica and the Southern Hemisphere, they can’t figure out sunsets and sunrises in the Northern Hemisphere.
Okay; now we have something here. I will give you that the southern hemisphere is huge; area-wise by the Gleason Map, southern is maybe 3 times larger than the northern hemisphere. Trekking it, mapping it, and understanding it all is probably really complicated and lonely. Back to you, cupcake; reality is flat. 62 miles up is still flat. Why do you hang on to a fake ball?
Qantas offers nonstop flights from Johannesburg, South Africa to Sydney, Australia that take a little under 12 hours.
Qantas also offers nonstop flights from Sydney to Santiago, Chile that take a little under 13 hours.
And LATAM will take you from Santiago to Sāo Paulo and from there to Johannesburg in about 14 hours.
These are times comparable to a similar circumnavigation at Northern Hemisphere latitudes (e.g. compare Boston->London->Tokyo->San Francisco->Boston; same number of stops and it's roughly the same). To do this on a disc that looks like a north-polar azimuthal projection, the distances would be gigantic and the planes would have to be going Concorde-fast (and the best routes would involve cutting way to the north--Sydney to Santiago would involve going over the Arctic, like when I went from Boston to Tokyo, only it'd be far longer). But they're using regular subsonic airliners. I can reverse the directions of travel and get similar results.
Part of me thinks that at this point the FE’ers saying the “you can’t go to Antarctica because of the navy and Antarctic treaty” line is so that no other FE even attempt to go there, and they can keep all the crabs in the bucket
Stupid thing is also that according to flerts goverments are trying to control people by faking globe. And then it's flerts who say that you can't go to Antartica or space. That sounds control to me.

I was part of the support crew at Amundsen-Scott (the station at the south pole) back in '98. Interestingly, Orion's belt is right at the celestial equator, so from the pole (at night, of course) it appears as though Orion is buried head-down in the snow up to his waist! :) Having a night that lasts six months is weird. The day is weird too - when I arrived in January, it appeared to be mid-afternoon. Which was fine - that;s when we arrived, so my brain was OK with it. But then I had to get up to go to the bathroom (which required me to leave the building I was in and go to another), and stepping out at 2am to a mid-afternoon sun _really_ messed up my brain. I couldn't get back to sleep, so I just went in to the comms room and did some work.
Before I arrived, a team had come through who were skiing across Antarctica, so that was the first thing I thought of. Oh - you mentioned him (for some reason, I thought it was a team, not just a single guy), but that's the one I heard about.
Sadly for you, however, no such thing as an opposing "south pole" exists. And polar nights can be found only in northern latitudes, with no such thing documented in any Antarctic videos. Nor do Antarctic "crossings" exist, with even official legend stating that Antarctica is too vast and too lethal, and not just for random 'skiers", but even for serious machinery and airplanes.

We finally saw the sun appear again on September 21st. Then the sun was visible 24 hours a day again the rest of my time there.
There was a guy who had set up a camera that pointed in a fixed direction, so you could (if you wanted, back then) have seen video evidence.
There are thousands of people who have been to the south pole in the austral summer, hundreds who've wintered.
I did see the "midnight sun", and while that could be either pole, since it was January through March and then September until I left in October, it could not have been the North Pole.
The sun's altitude above the horizon did not visibly change even over a week, so I must have been at (or very near) a pole.
At night, I could see the Southern Cross high in the sky, and Orion's belt was at the horizon, legs pointing upward for me. That did not change the entire time I was there, though the direction I had to look to see it circled once every 24 hours.
I saw this all myself, and am reporting it honestly to you.

I repeat what you haven't registered the first time. No such thing as a "south pole" exists. It would imply a spot capping an entire opposite hemisphere that would be upside-down to another one in the north. At the same time, it would be inclined and twisting, while flying millions of miles away under a mess of stars, excluding any fixed stars and fixed constellations. Meanwhile, none of you globe-nonsense lovers have shown a single trace of such magic world.
I repeat, so far polar nights can be found only in northern latitudes, with no such thing documented in any Antarctic videos. You would surely have first-hand evidence of such occurrence if it really was true, and the humanity would gladly look at it - so what's the holdup exactly? I'm ready to believe your account when you support it by any actual evidence, and after you explain why you would call the established documented reality "nonsense", while insisting on the globe nonsense precisely.
In the meantime, tons of people have been to the Antarctic shores, and yet no one presented any evidence of an upside-down "pole", bending level, capsized oceans or Antarctic polar night.

You might wanna check out the visual aid he provides on his channel, as well as his weekly radio shows, to understand more about the topic and the Antarctic question specifically. I figured out the earth as a globe as a kid because moon and sun were a globe. I saw Venus in a telescope and it was a globe. Can’t believe we’re debating this. Lol
That's likely how the ancient civilisations figured it out. "All big celestial bodies are balls and Earth is big, so Earth should also be a ball".
@@dudono1744and also the fact that the moon and sun can appear at the same times too
We dont have to go to antartica to disprove the flat earth: just go to australia. All their models show australia as being incredibly stretched horizontally when in reality it's about as long as it is wide. Travel from Apollo Bay, Victoria to Cape York, Queensland, takes 43 hours by car. (I'm not counting tasmania, just to give the flerthers somewhat of a chance) Travel from Brisbane, Queensland to Carnavon, WA, takes only 52 hours even though with a huge detour to the south since there's not particularly good roads in the dead center. On Flerth, east coast to west coast would realistically take at least twice as long as south coast to north coast.
And guys, you can travel to australia. There aint any restrictions beyond travelling to any other country.
Their excuse is that "no map is perfectly accurate," which while technically true (the best kind of true) ignores just _how_ distorted theirs is, as you pointed out.
i honestly find it hard to argue with flaties simply bc they don't argue in good faith. These people have already decided they are right and everyone else are lying, so no argument can convince them they are wrong
Try approaching it as if there is no argument. Tell them they are wrong because you use the exact same map of the globe Earth they use for turn by turn directions. It turns the tables on them and makes them their own undeniable globe proof. Their map is literally the one and only physical proof they own... and it's the globe! lol
It's the biggest secret of the FE and I call it comedy gold!
The best tip I’d offer is to pin them down on particular points and don’t let them change topics. Call them out for it when they do. They likely won’t concede any points, but you can at least show everyone else that they’re using dishonest tactics.
The point isn't showing _them_ they're wrong. The point is to show it to any clueless bystanders who can't tell by themselves.
You can't, *but* you can make them twist themselves into knots until they contradict themselves and point that out! It drives them mental and shows how publicly dishonest they are to everyone else lol
The badge of honor is making a flerf delete their whole thread.
I was in Antarctica for 5 months in 2008/2009. 24-hour sun is real, it just follows the horizon. The weirdest adjustment I had coming back was trying to figure out why the sun was directly overhead.
Now I'm in Alaska. Pretty tired of the sun being up when I go to bed at 10pm.
Up until the very second this challenge went public, you could have asked any flat earther "So does the sun actually set in Antarctica?" And every one of them was saying yes. Now they're not so sure, before the experiment has even happened? If you're a flat-earther, just take a minute and think about that behavior, and why some of your top influencers don't want it to end. Flat Earth isn't meant to proved. You would see plain as day, if this were any other subject.
"Flat Earth isn't meant to proved."
Yep. That's the sign the people making FE videos know it's a grift.
Flat Earthlings would have to acknowledge that the continent of Antartica exists! Remember, the 'Ice Wall of Doom' is holding the world's oceans in place on Pizzaland!!!
Then they get to make up stuff as to why a 24-hour sun doesn't prove anything...the latest rage is the aircraft's 'pitch data'! This is the drivel Oakley is spewing now...go figure.
For any flat-earthers out there, you can sign up to work at an Antarctic research station. They don't need just researchers. I have a friend who goes down there to work every year doing food service for them. Someone has to prepare the food for everyone in the facility. She's been doing it every year for more than a decade.
Everyone working there would get fed up of nothing but pancakes on the menu. "Why can’t we have meatballs on the menu?"
That would require them to go to another country, continent, when they have never gotten out of home town.
They are all brainwashed, a failed education system. Only skill is on a computer gaming.
She can't really be in Antarctica since nobody can go there. Thus, we know she must really be in an alternative location where "they" are faking Antarctic stuff. 🧠
@@chrisbenson6683Probably in an underwater tank. Because reasons.
Saying you’re not allowed to explore Antarctica is like saying you can’t explore the Sahara Desert. No, there’s nothing stopping you from exploring it, but why would you, it’s a desolate wasteland with nothing there
Exactly, the reason most tourists visit the North African countries along the coast and not the interior.
Not that long ago the Sahara wasn't a desert and there have been incredible archeological discoveries there, Gobero as an example. People thrived in that area and lived there for thousands of years before the most recent cycle of desertification replaced the "Green Sahara." If you were betting on where the next huge discovery about human civilization in the time period of between say, 5,000 to 14,000 years ago is going to take place, its probably going to be in the Sahara.
7:21 that tracked vehicle suspended over chasm is absolutely terrifying, and a great example of why not just anyone should just go and explore Antarctica. It's bloody dangerous.
I say... LET THE FLERFS GO! :)
Who do you think made it dangerous? NASA OF COURSE. Check made globe heads hahahahah....
Wait......

They can't be selectively cutting videos like that and not realise they're lying, right?
It not lies, it's just bullshit!
@@davidg4288 oh, as in they're just blurting out any old tosh without any deeper thought? Yeah, that seems accurate
You are the perfect person to send to Antarctica for our team. You are an excellent researcher, photographer, and critical thinker. I love your videos.
I hate referring to the so-called “flat earth model” as even being a model. I guess I don’t have a word that means “supposed but not actually a model.”
Simple, just add an 's' to 'model'.
it's a model, just not a working one
There's a flerf on here (onelight) who said that the flat earth model is simple and the globe is complex. When pressed, he said if you take a bowl and add some water and stones and put a light bulb above it, you have a valid flat earth model, but there is no globe model because you can't make water stick to a ball! Yep.
You put "model" in quotations lol
@@5peciesunkn0wn You can do that when writing. I was referring to in speech. I guess you can do the “air quotes” thing.
The goal posts really are on wheels. They suggest flying over the Antarctica only because they think no one will bother doing that.
On wheels, yes. And the wheels are attached to a Formula One racing car.
Or they simply forget that very thing has already been done but of course not for them specifically so it doesn’t count. Why bother doing it just for them anyway? All they will do is declare it fake.
Kelsey at 74-Gears made a challenge where he was renting an airplane, and everyone would have to pay their tickets but no profit.
Zero flerfs were interested to find out the shape.
@@freddan6fly And they did was complain that he wasn’t just giving to them for free. Whitsit even tried to use it to imply that all such offers are scams while completely lying about what actually happened. And like usual with him he refuses to provide any information to back himself up. Look it up you can find it, no it’s your responsibility to provide references to what you are claiming in a debate and not insist that your opponent look these things up on demand as you know they can’t do so in the middle of conversing with especially when you toss out 4 - 6 versions of the same thing out at once. If you don’t provide the citation and show your work on each one then dismissing them is not a handwave dismissal. You did not provide the evidence and therefore a claim without evidence can be ignored.
Explains why he still can’t understand that posting the ‘correct’ answers in an algebra test without showing your work got you accused of cheating, because you were.
Goal posts on wheels? Don’t be daft, they are mounted on the starship Enterprise… and that’s going at warp factor 10
My father- not a scientist- went to Antarctica. We have pictures of him there, old pictures from before the digital age. He wasn’t “with the government”- he is a comedian. The Brazilian comedy TV show Casseta & Planeta recorded a special in Antarctica. It is well documented, you can look it up. My dad went to Antarctica for a few jokes
All these years later, a group is planning to go for only ONE joke!
