Wow absolutely Disgusting I hope you're friend got away & these domestic violence situations & Stalking cases even over the internet & Prosecuted for each offense!!!
My 21 year old college student daughter innocently gets herself involved with a man who lied about his name, his age and his background. She discovers his real name, the fact that he’s 37 years old, a convicted sex offender who served prison time and parole. He has sent veiled threats to her, threatened to release intimate photos if she doesn’t give him a thousand dollars and his friends have made up lies to try to lure me to particular locations. I am extremely worried for her safety. Additionally, my daughter tells me she reported the situation to the campus police, but they don’t seem to be taking the matter seriously enough. I now have two options - I can do both or just one or the other. I can go to the campus police and demand action and a timeframe of when that action will occur. And/or, I can rent a u-haul and go get my daughter and her things until the guy is behind bars. The college will still be there, whereas, my daughter might not be.
Where were her parents? I would drop everything and pick her up! If she was so concerned calling the police and everything. Forget school , life is more important!
If your child tells you that her ex-boyfriend is a sex offender and is stalking and threatening her, go pick her up from college and bring her home. After that, you can deal with the school regarding their failure to investigate the situation but your first priority is to get her the hell out of there.
I so sorry for your lost I know the pain that you feel and I pray that you stay as strong as you can. Your life's has changed forever I know all to well what you all feel but keep fighting for her to make a change in her honor, she was a beautiful young lady. Authorities told me I have to have a consistent record of harassment from my abuser before they can act on it..... Even getting punched in the face and having a black I and having a black I didn't get their attention. Finally on the 23rd incident he broke my arm, i had cracked ribs, blood coming out of my nose and ear, he knocked two teeth out of my mouth... two black eyes egg sized lumps all over my head and body.... They finally arrested him. His sentence was 30 days in jail or community service. Six months of anger management classes and the ankle monitor... This happened about 20 years ago. I'm having problems walking, it's hard for me to hold a pen, my vision is distorted and I can't hear out of my right ear... Along with other health issues..... How dare they
How could she not know he was almost 40. I mean come on , so many nice college boys at the school and she falls for this thug she should not of even looked at him .
Nah they can't do that. It'd be racist. Then they'd have a "reason" to loot and pillage. They love rioting and assaulting. They put the faces of pe*ophi/es and drug addicts on T-shirts for God sakes.
How completely dishonorable this police force is. Campus security is their primary job and it should've taken ONE call to find out he was a danger to her. This family is so calm and polite they didn't even stress HOW SERIOUS, this issue was. I wish she would've said every time she called, this was a registered sex offender who has been stalking her and she's afraid he might kill her. It's sad because a lot of these "stalking" situations end up like that nowadays. People can't deal with their failures and harm others. These parents have my ultimate respect because they are still being kind hearted and showing respect even after they've been totally disrespected by all the agencie involved.
Their is so much rape and misconduct on college campus now all of a sudden Utah state wants to implement safety. This definitely could of been prevented.
I truly feel sorry for the parents loss and my heart goes out to them. Yes the police screwed up but so did they. They should have done some research on the guy, showed their daughter the results and warned of of the danger and demanded she stay away from him. Protecting our children doesn't stop when they turn 18.
She was in college on her way to being an awesome adult that contributes to society. The parents did something right. She was just a kid that had no experience dealing with manipulative con man POS
I can’t deny though part of the problem was that she as most women don’t stress urgency. She wasn’t conveying the gravity of the situation. Young girls especially don’t want to be “that girl”who causes a scene or ruffles feathers. This entire tragedy is devastating. And sadly she won’t be the last female murdered by a male.
Alison H I agree. I think we should be more aggressive when it’s our life on the line. However, I think as a human being, calling into an emergency service, I think we all expect our concerns to be treated with as much urgency as possible. People cope and respond to situations differently. Like at a funeral, some people may yell & cry, others may not cry and be silent. But again, I agree that it may have put a bit more fire under their ass if she said that this could turn into a kidnapping, murder. But, again, police don’t handle *possible* situations well🤦🏾♀️
I dont think its necessary for every woman to carry but if you ate a woman and you have some kind of relationship issues then you should definitely take the extra precaution and carry until a reasonable amount of time and the threat has passed. She could have had a parent fly down and stay with her. Had her parents give her money for a hotel where nobody would know she was staying. She could have gone home for a few days. She could have carried a gun. There were several other better options than relying on campus police.
This family, and their daughter, had way to much trust in the system. You have to sometimes realize that systems are secondary to human instinct. Don't be afraid to leave campus, go home, go in person to the police. Never take someone's word for it if things aren't getting done. Don't let these systems make you passive. School can wait; put your life first.
Ruth Watkins, University President, should have been fired at first hearing of her statement and as soon as they found out that Lauren had talked to campus police. They all dropped the ball and should be held responsible for their actions, or more over their lack of actions! I am tired of people not being held responsible when they do not fulfill their jobs. They take the money but not the responsibility of the position they hold. You can’t have it both ways. If you take the wages....then you have to hold the requirements that are the job.
I would have went to get my daughter if she called me the first time with a call like this. I would have told her immediately to leave campus and I would have been there with my gun.
This is why you need to depend on yourself to protect yourself. Don’t depend on anyone to protect you because there will be people like this who will ignore you. Protect yourself because sometimes the people that you believe will help and protect you will let you down.
What a heartbreaking lose of a beautiful soul...May she rest in peace and may her family find solace and comfort in believing that she is in heaven with God!!!
It could have been prevented!!! if you listened to her!!! If you actually cared!!! If you actually were concerned about her well being. University of Utah, you failed Lauren, she was suppose to be protected and the worst part is that she did seek out for help, she told the university that her life was at risk and they just ignored her.
I understand that she tried getting ahold of the campus police and her parents and the actual police but during all that time, I don't understand why she herself did not mention to the actual police that this guy was on Parole because then they would have had jurisdiction to step in even though she was on campus
@@motorcityquig I can see that. Even if she knew she needed to leave him, that doesn't mean you can just turn off the emotions you had for them. However you can't let that be a reason you don't protect yourself from them.
You have to be INSANE to say this couldn’t have been avoided. Completely delusional 🤭😰she could’ve had a police escort to get around and not to mention an investigator looking into this mans parole information.

She was wishy-washy about what she wanted them to do. She was trying to please her mom instead of cooperate with the UUCP for them to help herself. If it was my daughter and I was that concerned I woulda hopped a plane and gone to her rescue. The parents are trying to blame someone else.
Sounds like this man was jealous of her and killed her because he wasn’t happy with himself and her wanting to leave because he knew she was better off this is sickening
She called the detective 22 times!!?? It’s simply negligence. First thing first they should have pulled up his record/information and immediately they would have seen that he was on parole which would show he’s violating his parole by stocking and harassing. I hope the detective losses countless sleep and realize that his negligence is the reason why someone got murdered. I can’t even imagine the frustration the family is going through but most importantly Lauren lost her life at a very young age. SMH
Well, that information is pretty misleading. I read the independent report. She didn't have number for her detective, she was communicating with the officer and most of those calls came from him to her and were missed anyway.
I hate to bring this up but what if the cops were angry with her for putting herself in a relationship with this criminal and figured she made her bed, she must deal with him the hard way, not knowing he would go as far as he did by killing her and himself! It’s a thought! It makes no sense why they wouldn’t help this young woman. RIP Lauren❤️
Police in this country tend to leave hardcore criminals alone but chase after law abiding individuals who might have a momentary lapse in judgment but wasn’t meant to cause any harm. If more police effort is focused on the Real Criminals running freely around this would be a much safer country
Listen to all the 911 calls and you'll understand what the problem was. None of them were able to communicate properly the scenario nor any type of urgency. Sad situation
I agree with you. I heard all the calls that were made and the mom, dad or Lauren cound not even get the words out to explain what was going on. Very strange.
Young girls like this one need to be more selective and use greater caution when choosing a lover. He should not have had access to her dorm room or friends until she met his friends and family. Wow absolutely Disgusting I hope you're friend got away & these domestic violence situations & Stalking cases even over the internet & Prosecuted for each offense!!!
These poor parents, I cannot imagine the horror they’ve faced.
Boycott that university and close it down!
Where were her parents? I would drop everything and pick her up! If she was so concerned calling the police and everything. Forget school , life is more important!
Mae C. Yeah I know my husband would have sprouted wings to get our baby girl.
Never
Is
Gonna
Get
Enough
Respect
😂😂😂😂
If your child tells you that her ex-boyfriend is a sex offender and is stalking and threatening her, go pick her up from college and bring her home. After that, you can deal with the school regarding their failure to investigate the situation but your first priority is to get her the hell out of there.
the university definitely failed her and they cant even show accountability pitifull.
I so sorry for your lost I know the pain that you feel and I pray that you stay as strong as you can.
Your life's has changed forever I know all to well what you all feel but keep fighting for her to make a change in her honor, she was a beautiful young lady.
God be with your family every day and forevermore.
My mother's heart is breaking for the parents. The father seems so broken.
They should have taught her reality than letting her sit in front of the televitz.
That’s so sad. I hope the university apologizes to the family for not taking action. Awful!
Mike Carter YOU HAVE SERIOUS ISSUES “RACIST”!!!
Absolutely speechless 😢😢😢... It's crazy (as a parent) that every bit of you goes into your kids, for someone to take something so precious to you. Prayers going to Lauren's parents, family, and friends
Exactly, and I'm not a parent.
I do NOT understand why Lauren was with him in the first place. This is very sad, but predictable. There is something wrong with this story, and it could have been prevented.
The university needs to be held accountable
He should have been put behind the bars as soon as they found he was violating the parole rules
I hope no similar incidents happen
So beautiful. I hurt for her parents. I have a son at uni and this really hits home.
Shocking failure of policing. Shocking statement by the university. Fault all around. Horrendous. I hope they sue to get money for their foundation.
In the Information Age we should background check anyone who wants to be part of our lives...
Mike Carter lol and the award for most relevant comment ever goes to *YOU!* Congratulations kind sir! Quite the achievement...🙄
@SmarterThenu Meanashell yeah but after a month they dated is when she found out about it. Would be smart to check before you date someone.
If you can figure out his real name and identity
What is there to background check? Look at him and look at her. He's a different species of human being than her.
Wow. What a statement. The father said. "i don't have room for anger.". Hats off... be strong mom and dad..
So sad that a woman can make 22 calls to the police and still not get help.
Her parents had a duty to do more. Why was she walking alone? The family should have taken more steps then just making phone calls.
Wow smh the fact that she called authorities so many damn times and NOTHING was done is freaking ridiculous!!!! RIP
Everyone needs to be fired immediately
Authorities told me I have to have a consistent record of harassment from my abuser before they can act on it.....
Even getting punched in the face and having a black I and having a black I didn't get their attention.
Finally on the 23rd incident he broke my arm, i had cracked ribs, blood coming out of my nose and ear, he knocked two teeth out of my mouth... two black eyes egg sized lumps all over my head and body....
They finally arrested him.
His sentence was
30 days in jail or community service.
Six months of anger management classes and the ankle monitor...
This happened about 20 years ago.
I'm having problems walking, it's hard for me to hold a pen, my vision is distorted and I can't hear out of my right ear...
Along with other health issues.....
How dare they
I'm so sorry you went through that, still dealing. Sadly,it doesn't seem like we've changed much in 20 years. It's going to take another MeToo
Who's getting fired!
How much is the Lawsuit for?
That's all I want to know.
Respect for her family
This is so unfair rest in heaven Lauren. The university of Utah failed her. She asked for help but she didn't get any this makes me so mad
Who says she's going to heaven?
@@TucsonDudeGod doesn't take in stupid people!
How could she not know he was almost 40. I mean come on , so many nice college boys at the school and she falls for this thug she should not of even looked at him .
It's called manipulation
the sadness is so complete, there is no room for anger. that hurts to hear their pain.
Like a US University gonna arrest a black man on a campus
Nah they can't do that. It'd be racist. Then they'd have a "reason" to loot and pillage. They love rioting and assaulting. They put the faces of pe*ophi/es and drug addicts on T-shirts for God sakes.
He had record serious charges and police ignored her
How completely dishonorable this police force is.
The girl made poor decision. These parents should rot in hell for the terrible job they did raising her.
@ Parents probably subscribe to the progressive garbage spewed out by TYT.
But, again, police don’t handle *possible* situations well🤦🏾♀️
Then she'd get called "hysterical." The info she presented should have been enough
Not preventable but admit to so many corrections that are needed? Wtf? So many cruel people in power/authority positions these days.
If she had protected herself from the animal by carrying a gun this would not have happened. Education, carry and warn your children about animals.
It's also poshibley guns may not be allowed on campus.
@@smiley2477 Agreed ! 👍
"The sadness is so great, there's no room for anger". Wow.
University of Utah, you have blood on your hands.
i suppose the parents have a black lives matter sign in their front yard.
It'd be racist if they weren't reppin BLM. HAHA
Makes me so mad how police make you feel like you’re annoying them when you call! 😡
What’s wrong with this university!! She called 22 times and no feedback.somebody is not doing his or her job
What the hell was she doing dating this guy?
EXACTLY
Wanted to be seen.
self hating whites don't understand the realities of race
So sad.. If I were the parents I would of brought her home the first day Lauren called and told her mom about the lies he told her.
Black guy killing his white girlfriend, what a shocker.
I would have went to get my daughter if she called me the first time with a call like this. I would have told her immediately to leave campus and I would have been there with my gun.
Another one who is sure they would have dealt with this problem with gun. Ridiculous.
How does a registered sex offender and convict get his hands on a gun?????
Illegally, that's how.
A darn shame . These are good and decent people . Sorry ass police and campus police . Rest in Peace baby girl. So sorry the system failed you all.
“The sadness is so complete, I don’t have room for anger.” “But we do want change.”
🥺😓💔💔💔
Ladies stay away from Utah State! They are not in our favor!
Stay away from Gangbangers and you'll be fine regardless of the University.....
more like stay away from the blattts...
This is why you need to depend on yourself to protect yourself. Don’t depend on anyone to protect you because there will be people like this who will ignore you. Protect yourself because sometimes the people that you believe will help and protect you will let you down.
Keep your guns close!
What a heartbreaking lose of a beautiful soul...May she rest in peace and may her family find solace and comfort in believing that she is in heaven with God!!!
Her fault! Dating the wrong guy! 🙄
Too late for them to correct it. Maybe prevent future instances but I doubt it’ll be permanent, it could only go to an extent.
AMEN
It could have been prevented!!! if you listened to her!!! If you actually cared!!! If you actually were concerned about her well being. University of Utah, you failed Lauren, she was suppose to be protected and the worst part is that she did seek out for help, she told the university that her life was at risk and they just ignored her.
This is so sad my heart goes out to this women and her family :(
More than 20 times called to police but they cannot protect her omg
She even look like an angel when she run, i mean without make up and all that stuff
I understand that she tried getting ahold of the campus police and her parents and the actual police but during all that time, I don't understand why she herself did not mention to the actual police that this guy was on Parole because then they would have had jurisdiction to step in even though she was on campus
She was probably in love with the guy and didn't want him to go back to prison
@@motorcityquig I can see that. Even if she knew she needed to leave him, that doesn't mean you can just turn off the emotions you had for them. However you can't let that be a reason you don't protect yourself from them.
Sincerest sympathies to the McCluskies on the death of their beautiful daughter.
Why the parents didn't warn her about dating a black guy!!
It wasn't the color of his skin. There are plenty of white men that do this as well.
You have to be INSANE to say this couldn’t have been avoided. Completely delusional 🤭😰she could’ve had a police escort to get around and not to mention an investigator looking into this mans parole information.
When will authorities learn to take these threats seriously.
The big question" WHY did she date him in the first place?
From a cnn article it said he admitted he was a manipulator and was attracted to young and vulnerable women from an earlier arrest interview. Sounded like the girl was a bit naiive still in dating men. He probably gave her a sweet talk that sounded all good at first but later turn onto their dark side to prey on girls like her. It is sad.
That's the big question? Blaming the victim? FFS she obviously didn't know his history and he lied about his age.
Most creeps masquerade as fairly normal people. There's no badge they wear warning you off
I sincerely hope the university president was ousted for lack of sympathy and accountability. What a joke, this case is beyond heart breaking. May you rest in eternal peace Lauren. Your light will continue to shine with your foundation that is helping so many people and animals.
Well I hate to say it but it sounds like her sexual preferences got her killed. She had a thing for black guys and she chose the wrong one..
Find TheGap black guys .. so how many u know about her ? Nd u mean white guys doesn’t do it well ??! + u r offensive for the black guys that they r killers!!
Fatimah Adam Moron. Blacks statistically do this more often
There's no such thing as the right one...this is the average situation of what will happen to them. They are a different species from us.
Campus police sounds annoyed because of her calls and they did nothing. This is an outrage.
To any prospective daters. Please do your homework. At minimum, do a background check. It's like 20 bucks and can save your life. This world is cold and unforgiving. Always err on the side of caution.
Well said.
My heart goes out to this family, watching this is so aggravating that she fell thru cracks and no one, even on the call to dispatch, seemed concerned! My prayers are with the family and the state of Utah and the campus for not opening their eyes. We need to pray very hard for them...
I just listened to all the calls to the UUCP between Lauren, her mom and dad. They did everything they could. Lauren mad very stupid decisions. The UUCP staff was VERY committed to her.
God bless them 🙏🏾😞😞
She called the detective 22 times!!??
Courtney Lee: The cops and her parents felt that.
Toll status?
Wow wth screw him r. I. P
Police in this country tend to leave hardcore criminals alone but chase after law abiding individuals who might have a momentary lapse in judgment but wasn’t meant to cause any harm. If more police effort is focused on the Real Criminals running freely around this would be a much safer country
He was a creep...from the sound of the recorded police calls Lauren wasn’t specific when she called them. Probably why they didn’t do more
This happens all too much too often because people don't take stalking abuse serious. This is sad
She knew better. No one was surprised. She did NOT do everything right.
Young girls like this one need to be more selective and use greater caution when choosing a lover. He should not have had access to her dorm room or friends until she met his friends and family. I use tinder and find that even as a straight male I have to use great caution and never let anyone know where I live until at least a year passes.
And to use background checks on everyone before you date/meet them in person. She waited for a month to do that and it unfortunately cost her life.
