I've been searching daily on you tube for some time and in my humble opinion Ger O Donnell is the best folk singer I've heard in years and I've followed folk music since the original weavers of the 50's. Only wish there was a few more uptempo songs by him.
What an outstanding performance. That fiddle compliments the song beautifully. This is without a doubt, the finest rendition I've ever heard of this old classic.
How can a train disapering in roadrail blues still be so unfadingly real? The more I hear, the more I´m struck with recollection, with that big picture of mixed impressions of my past. Thanks.
We experienced One for the Foxes at Tucson House Concerts, and they are INCREDIBLE! Really enjoyed these people, both during and after the show. I'm glad for your connection!
Love your version !! Great harmonies.. I do the song with my Duo partner but just covered an instrumental of it here but very well done on your part!!!! Steve wrote this song while ON the City of New Orleans, they took it off the tracks for awhile but this song helped bring it back in service.. at least for awhile. Miss Steve terribly.
Love the sound first time hearing you Ger tonight Would love to have a CD for my Show in New York The Long Ireland Show 88.7 Saturday's WRHU.ORG my email eilcronin@aol.com 2-5 p.m. (New York time) Good Luck
Simply stunning
Great version and great vocals and musicians . Top Class!!!!
Played and sung to perfection. It doesn't get much better than this. When Ger sings he really feels it.

Have you watched Ger's excellent recording of The Fox with the Petersen family?

Steve Goodman died too young. This was his best song. But I’m sure he had more on the way.
