    When the rules lawyer calls themselves out.
    12:08 I just texted my DM a few days ago and apologized for asking to have 2 potions ready in a hand to drink them both if a fight started (the rest of the party thought I was being paranoid). I've been playing for over 30 years and she's been DMing for less than a year. I told her that rules as written say one standard action per potion so I felt I cheated a bit. She said it was cool but I still pushed back and we came to an agreement that one can take more than one potion per standard action, but you had to role a con save or be sickened.
    Dam it, now I'm just thinking of how badly one could abuse potions if one could mix and chug multiple potions all at once. Alchemist would be the most OP class ever.

    12:30 no, no, no. I agree that drinking a potion should be available as a bonus action, but a basic potion of healing weighs half a pound. They only get bigger from there. The smallest that shit could be is a 4-oz vial.
    On top of that, potions are fucking *volatile*. Remember, there are rules for drinking multiple potions in a short time frame and the effects can range from permanent potion effects to just blowing up.

      I believe drinking a potion is a bonus action and yeah drinking multiple potions should be somewhat dangerous.

    13:08 YOOOOO, PLAY TEN CANDLES!!! It’s a system designed specifically for spooky/horror oneshots, and it has my *favorite* tension-building dice mechanic of all time. See, you’re not just rolling to see if you succeed, you’re rolling for narrative control over *how* you succeed. The whole table starts with a pool of 10d6 (one for each scene of the game,) and whenever you need to roll, you only need *one* six to succeed; however, every die that rolls a 1 moves from the party’s pool of dice to the GM’s pool, which is rolled at the same time, with whoever rolls more successes getting to narrate *how* this success plays out. When a scene ends, a single die is transferred permanently from the party’s pool to the GM’s.
    The *palpable* loss of control as that dice pool dwindles down until you have just one single d6 rattling around in your hand by the end of each scene… Ten Candles is *incredibly* atmospheric, but no part of it is better than that.
    (Is it any wonder the only dice you can earn back are called “Hope Dice”?)

    For the hero point thing I’d personally have the death save thing be modified into 1 hero point letting you add 1d6 to the death save. Might save the roll, might not. Won’t know till you try.

    12:25 The way I see it is that Healing Potions are medicine. When was the last time proper medicine ever tasted good? I’m assuming the rest of that action is recoiling from the taste

    • @learningcurve6499
      @learningcurve6499  ปีที่แล้ว

      I see that. However, you can still do things has you recoil. I believe it should be a full action for someone to give you the potion and a bonus for you to drink it yourself.
