My druids trauma is that their whole tribe disappeared after a necrotic orb appeared outside of their village. They touched the orb and got corrupted by its power and became a blight Druid (subclass from Matt Mercer). So I think they would just be confused but happy they got so strong, not knowing the cost

Okay, that unrelated one at the end was really hilarious! Not that there weren't good ones during, but I laughed real hard during that one.

At 18:29 for the murder mystery, comprehend languages does not make it so other creatures can understand you, thats what tongues is for. Also you cant counterspell a ward as the spell is already cast, and since no one is actively casting the spell there is no trigger for counter spell. Finally, just retcon the way he died, it could be dark if you wanted it to be dark.

Fun fact about speak with dead in a murder mystery! they are under no obligation to tell you the truth!
(Well, that or you can write things in such a way that the victim doesn't know)

Not sure my newest character would be able to see themselves before trauma. Their trauma is actually that they are a parentified eldest child of their parents and the matriarch of the family is scary to all the members of it. So basically their entire life is that.

    • @learningcurve6499
      @learningcurve6499  ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@learningcurve6499 lol the entire theme of the party is when a person says the phrase “it’s complicated.” Because honestly? Each of these characters says that. Nothing is simple about who they care about, who they hate, who they betrayed, who they are loyal to. Heck, the least complicated relationship any of the party’s characters have is my own character’s with their cousin’s SECRET child, whom mine adores as if they were their own child, and welcome said child unconditionally and lovingly into their family. It’s complicated but also…not. The child is still secret and there is complications around that but the actual relationship between the two? Not really. Oh but lol, it’s about to get complicated for another party member. The other parent of said child…well let’s just say the party member met them on the battlefield in an incident of their backstory. And so it’s gonna be a built in guilt stab for the player (the approval of the player was given even if they don’t know all the details. I just mentioned child and “can I give your character a guilt stab?” and then asked dm to make the connection which was approved). But yeah, this entire dnd campaign for that character has “it’s complicated” as it’s theme so pretty much no one hasn’t had a trauma free life from day one of their character’s lives.

    *Before Trauma* Meets *After Trauma*
"By the Maiden! You are me, as I become?"
"Yeah! A lot happens over forty years."
"My, I'll be fully grown by then, able to join Kophyn on missions! Which, by the way, I love your outfit. These checkered patterns and colors compliment our skin well, but..."
"Why am I not in plate? Or chainmail, as you are now? Well, I became a bard. I never became a true paladin."
"But... What does Kophyn think of it?"
"... I still have our pendant. I never... strayed far from the Maiden's light... But some plans don't always work out, young one."
"But this has been what we've been striving for ever since he rescued us. Why would you... give it up?"
"... Some plans don't always work out. Sometimes you aren't always sure of things. Sometimes... a drow is pushed out of the path intended for them. Why don't you go find the old man? Ask him about it, and give him a hug. Make him some tea. Talk with him. Maybe you'll come across some more stories to tell. As for now? Goodbye. And kid? Good luck."

9:45 I am not sure if this applies to sorcerers, I'm playing a (changeling) (wild magic) sorcerer, currently 3rd level, and I get 3 "sorcery points" which I can use to enhance spells (e.g. doubling a spell such as catapult, increasing the length of mage hand, etc.) but in the chart it says 14 "spell points"
idk if this is the same thing or if I'm wrong but if anyone knows please, fill me in :]

It is a different system for spell slots, so sorcery points and spell points are in fact different. Sorcery points can be converted into spell slots, or used for Metamagic effects, but spell points would be used to cast spells, more similar to a classic JRPG MP system.

The biggest irony about the Satanic Panic is this: Dungeons and Dragons and the other tabletop roleplaying games of that era were inspired by works like J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. J.R.R. Tolkien was a devout Catholic. Everyone knows that C.S. Lewis was a Christian, but most don't know that it was Tolkien that inspired him to convert from Atheism to Christianity (although Lewis joined the Church of England rather than the Catholic Church).
It really does make the Satanic Panic look rather ridiculous.
