    I have it and I love the shine it has

    I know this video was posted a while back, but I just bought a jar after someone told me it was good as a top up over regular classic Layrite. How did the Supershine hold on its own throughout the day? Can you re-style without having to wet your hair?

    I just got a tub (not the new stuff) and it doesn't smell like wet paint at all. It smells like vanilla ice cream. Yum yum!

    Layrite super shine is one of the best water based product its shine is the best shine and the hold sucks for my thick hair i use murrays as my base and layrite super shine for the top coat and thts the dream pomade for everyone stronghold and a high shine. Super good pomp for me

  • @DONTXBREAK
    @DONTXBREAK 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    i have this and id say the hold sucks the shine is ok but i always combine it with the strong hold and that does ok. i found that using the super hold as a base and putting say royal crown of top works much better. right now im using murrays and royal and i like that alot better even though its a bitch to wash out the hold and shine are both superior to layrite.

      By only using little amounts of petroleum based pomade as a topcoat do you still have problems with washing it out?

    I watch many of your videos and have made purchases because of your opinion however, this is the first product you have reviewed that I have bought where I completely disagree with you on almost all your findings. I find this pomade does not have a paint scent to it but more of vanilla with a little bit of Play Dough. The product does not "grip" once applied to the hair. The pomade actually causes the hair to not be formed. In time my hair was just flat and all styling was lost. I do love the scent and the wet look. No other water based pomade delivers in the shine department like the Layrite Super Shine but I have to admit. It's really something for short hair as it could never support a pomp and I would use it over Slick Devil or Lay Rite Original to add sheen.

    So with water based pomades such as tres flores molding pomade, should I apply it to damp or dry hair? I used it the other day and it seemed to dry out in my hair mid day.

    i have long curly hairs as long as yours i want a wet loose hair floaty and unfrizzed look when it dries what do you think i should use it ?

  • @anastasia10017
    @anastasia10017 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I am a girl and wanted to try this to control some of my insanely annoying frizz. I have long hair and wanted to control the frizziest areas around the front of my hairline -- not for my whole head. I did use it on dry hair. maybe i would get better results on wet hair ?? Would it still be shiny ?
    Cons : Even with using a tiny, tiny amount, I found this pomade to be waaay too thick and heavy.,
    It stays sticky for a loooong long time -- kind of like Flypaper !!! Ugh !! it doesn't seem to "dry".
    I tend to touch my hair a lot -- that won't work with this pomade. the areas where I used the pomade feel waxy, heavy and horrible -- a little product comes off on my fingers but is not greasy feeling .
    I can't imagine what happens when you lay your head on your pillowcase !!!
    Pros: This might work well for guys or girls with really short hair.
    it is shiny.
    It is water soluble, it does wash off your hands immediately with just water.
    I don't notice any smell.
    Seriously, if you use this pomade, you would have to wash your hair every night. it makes your hair super sticky and dirt/dust/pollution is going to be stuck to your hair by the end of the day. And I used only the tiniest amount on dry hair -- kid in the video used 100x more than I did.
    I paid $20 for this at a barber shop. : (
    I see it for about $13 at Amazon. know your prices !!!
    Kid in the video has super gorgeous hair -- don't think he needs all this pomade !!

      +anastasia10017 you should use layrite cement but with your dissatisfaction with the product isnt that surprising since this is a guys product

      I wanted to use this stuff because I'll do anything for super shiny hair !!! women talk about using Layrite too -- especially women who like retro hairstyles from the 1940's etc.. but you're right. this stuff is not for me !!

    I've tried this pomade and I kinda disappointed. I got to say that Layrite super shine has good shine. however, it melts under the sun. I live in Malaysia and it is hot and dry over here. Some people noticed and told me there were some white spots on my hair. it must be the pomade...

      I don't know if you can get a hold of this but you should try to find Lone Star pomade which I hear is good with heat.

    Hello. I wanted to ask, is this considered the most shiny of all the water-based pomades? Because I'm interested in finding the most shiny one.

      Well, I got it.. I don't know if it's the most shiny. Anyway. The thing I don't like is that it comes off with difficulty from my hands, even with soap.. It isn't like the regular Layrite.

    • @grodanperson
      @grodanperson 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** I get that too with super shine..and the smell is just dull. It's the most shiny pomade ive tried when applied but as any other water-based it seems to go away throughout the day.

    Mr. Pomp, did you apply it to wet, damp or dry hair? I always wet my hair a little to make it easier to apply and comb, but I am using the super hold, and by applying it to wet/damp hair it gets really hard when it dries. But since this is super shine, and is easier to apply, should I continue applying it to damp hair or should it be applied to dry hair for hold and shine

    • @Aaronfunethebarber

      EdilarinProducts never wet hair for water based pomade, it comes right off. what you should do is spray a little amount of water to the pomade that you have scooped from your hand and smoosh it around if it isnt smooth enough/

    • @Roger161
      @Roger161 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like it a lot. But I use a combination of both Layrite super hold and super shine. What I do is mix both solutions on my fingers. Just use a little if you have a fresh cut. A little of both will go a long ways. You'll have the best of both worlds with control and shine. Both layrite products mix very well also.

    • @Art2D2
      @Art2D2 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    For the first time with a hawleywoods product, I was actually disappointed with the super shine. Not from the shine, because the shine is excellent and unmatched. I was just disappointed that it couldnt control my waves in my hair. Literally cannot do anything with this but a slick back, and even then it doesn't last very long due to it enhancing and making my waves even worse. Damn all you lucky straight haired cats. Ha.
