This Si is a beast of a daily. I wish they can come up with a mod list of how you can make your 11th gen even more fun but doesnt mess with reliability
It is the ultimate give and take of modification. You sacrifice reliability for fun because in adding more rigidity and power to a car, you stress other components shortening their lifespan.
Back in the day- like 1968 we used to drag race on the back roads outside of town using the same technique, except we called it board shifting, (Keep your foot to the floor on the accelerator as you go through the gears) We were doing this with Plymouth Road Runners, Chevy Chevelle SS396's and Dodge Super Bee's. With the tire technology of that era and lack of traction control, we were sideways and fishtailing it all over the place. Wonder we didn't kill ourselves. I just bought the 2022 Civic Si and it is a blast. Like driving with F1 technology compared to back then. Nice review Jason. Kudos to Hondata!
It is truly stunning what Hondata has done in terms of tuneability for these cars. To generate that much horsepower from just ecu flashing was inconceivable 20 years ago! Thanks for the great insight and review! Glad you arrived safely!
Very interesting & intriguing. It’s quite fortuitous that the HP was undervalued by that high a number. I wonder how much the average delta is with that # between different Si’s of the same exact year model & specs obviously. I saw an article where they stated that the latest Hondata Flash for the 11th Gen Si could be a HP boost that could potentially be upwards of around 37HP. So with the actual higher stock HP # & an ECU flash without any physical mods giving you a total reaching at or above 250 isn’t too shabby.
I am a bit hesitant to get the hondata and tune my car. My car is mostly stock no major upgrades to engine. But the tune done in this video is all I need and because of the video I need help with making sure I do the correct tune when I get my flash pro
i was just telling my wife how when i had my Honda quad 250R, i never let up off the throttle when shifting. This comes natural to me and easier then heel toeing. Of course on the quad the throttle was a thumb leaver.
@@shutupishful That's not how Acura works. My bet you will have to buy an Integra with at least 1 or 2 option packages to get those features that are found on the base Canadian SI. maybe $3500+ more. We spent ~ $6000 (Technology + SH AWD) in option packages on our TLX and still don't have the fog lights that come standard on the Accord Sport.
From the looks of it, it seems like this also eliminates the rev hang. That’s my biggest pet peeve with this vehicle since I got it last year. If you are passing someone on the highway for instance, it basically feels like you are flat foot shifting because the rev hang keeps the RPMs up.
This car is junk, dead steering and clutch feel, clutch is weak and won't hold extra power. Engine is made with cracker jack parts be ready to replace motors and head gaskets...
Test drove one and compared it with my 8th gen. Definitely more faster than the 8th gen for sure. But I just love the sound of NA and revving it to 8500 rpm.
I have a 2020 ilx, which has the k24 and a dct. The manual in the Integra is way to expensive and do not want a cvt. May look at the si. Here in Canada, we get more options.
Will this damage any of the mechanics overtime or is it safe to use this tune indefinitely? because 250 HP on an Si sounds like the sweet spot and I want it.
@@ranthony2714 I read on the 11th gen forums the gearbox can take upwards of 350-375 hp before causing any problems. The factory clutch is what kills the ability to run more power stock because it only can handle 270 lb-ft.
Let’s be real any tune or beating on your engine will cause premature engine failure that’s just the name of the game with mods and tuning. It’s hard to say for longevity because with engines and tunes so many other factors are in play. I guarantee as we see more aftermarket support for the 11th gen we’ll have more reliable tunes but I’m thinking post tune the cars won’t last long.
U have to take a look at the Canadian market si, heated seats, heated steering wheel, fog lights, Bose audio system with wireless CarPlay, also has the full digital dash with led shift lights
The heated seats and the fogs, which were on the previous gen are the biggest offenders. Missing LED turn signals on the mirrors too isn't it? Maybe that was the Sport.
If a person wants to lease the Civic SI, can you use the flashpro during the contract term then take it off before returning the car after the contract is done? Or can't be possible?
Hi Jason i would love to use that for my new Honda civic Hatch sports touring 6MT but i am scared I might mess up my electronics and ECU, can you do a video on how to really download and upgrade it step by step, please!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
The K is nice, but the fuel economy difference between my 8th Gen Si and my 10th Gen Si is unbelievable. For a Daily Driver this little 1.5 is nice enough for what it is.
Wait wait... Flat shifting is supported from hondata software and available to upload on the car? Also vtec and twin scroll turbo... Ok, I am glad I waited for this!
Obviously, you need to use only premium fuel once the tune has been added. My concern would be - what would happen if regular fuel was put into the tank? Even if not on purpose - let's say an unscrupulous gas station or mistake led to a station selling regular as premium? Would the engine blow up on full boost? @HondaPro Jason - After your comparison of US Vs Canadian features, I just cannot get myself to buy this car. I need those features found only in the Canadian model. I guess I have to wait for the Integra?
I know on my Fiesta ST tune from Stratified I have on the fly map switching with my cruise control buttons. I can go from 91 to 93 to valet mode at any time.
Have you accounted for the lighter fly wheel of the 11th gen. Dynos don't measure power, they infer power, and rotational inertia can have a significant influence on the results.
Biggest concern for me is if the stock clutch can hold up to that much power and torque. Time will tell as the clutch was 100% a limiting factor on the previous generation. Regardless cool to see.
Well, they noted it's already slipping so you'll need to downtune it yourself if you are. In any case, you'd be mad to be adding power and not upgrading the clutch in the first place.
@@eksentrysyti yeah I should have finished watching it. I know they went to a single mass flywheel design so I was hopeful that the clutch would be stronger.

@Juan Suarez No, that's incorrect. You can't import a vehicle not originally sold in the US til its 25 years old. I moved from Canada to the US back in 2015. I brought my Ford truck with me, I just had to get some customs papers filled out. Since the Civic Si is being sold in the US, that 25 year rule shouldn't apply
