The JLC Geophysic is the platonic ideal of a watch. Perfect size (38.5mm), perfectly symmetrical, and under the radar. I’d add a gold dress watch (Vacheron 1921 or Calatrava) and call it a day.

In Australia unless you live in a big city like Sydney or Melbourne where there is money and there are big earners most people won’t know anything about watches and most won’t care either . If it’s a two tone or solid red or yellow gold piece, the gold will catch their eye probably but not stainless steel or white gold. I think people care more about putting their money in a nice home, a nice car and travelling . I don’t think some dude or gal walking barefoot in a Coles will know or care much if you are wearing a steel Breguet type XX on a leather strap……Plus factor in the servicing costs for all those watches in Australia , which are very high and most people won’t be buying expensive watches there ; and I don’t blame them…..

Very nice. Albeit with some overlap in the light dial IWC & JLC plus the black chronos. Imho you’re covered already for ‘dress’. Any analog watch on leather works in formal settings. I’d personally add a Submariner or a GMT M2 & call it a day. You’re missing a sportier piece with rotating bezel / GMT complication.

I’d rather have a holy trinity watch with a well-finished movement (e.g., Calatrava, a Vacheron manual wind with the 4400 movement). To each their own.
