Who the fuck needs 4 modern Daytonas? Sell 3 of them and buy a 6263 and call it a day.
If money is not essential and taste and character are not developed, then people end up with these watches and over and over again with the same stuff.

The irony is that the dude has no real heavy hitters. Something like a Patek 5231 enamel world time or a Vacheron Cornes de Vache tells me you have taste. 4 modern Daytonas tells me the opposite.

One of PPs most insightful and educational reviews ever. This collection kinda lacks in self-expression. Since he loves Daytonas maybe it would be more interesting to double-down on a Daytona-only collection that explores the nuances and history and sell the rest?

Unbelievable that you would encourage a guy with money to reach for a Breguet or a Patek world time, instead of the most prestigious and recognizable and fuck-off elegant watch put there - the 5811 (OK I'd prefer the steel 5711, and it's too small for me anyway, but you get my point). It's just jealousy.
Tbh that JJ collection has many hype pieces even the pelagos...

My problem with this collection is that the person clearly has no soul: he has bought all the hype pieces and then keeps wobbling about them some cliche stuff he has probably heard from youtube watch dealers.

Money doesn't always buy tasteful things...i think of a friend of mine who always dresses in loud and clashing designer clothes..D&G belt, Armani tie and so on....why are so many loud rolexes required here...why couldnt a tasteful Breguet or Vacheron festure here...that would give this collection an element of class....a bit sickly

Where's the love for the movements, the complications, the history and style of so many watch makers.

Cut it in half, buy yourself a gshock and a membership to the local boxing gym, go get a good arse kicking and you'll become that better person you think these watches are making you.
Look, guys, when you’re making decent money, and I don’t mean hundreds of millions like Tom Cruise, I mean a few million, you can afford a collection like this but you can’t be throwing money away. Yes a lot of hyped pieces; however, buying Bregeut and old Patek world times aren’t going to hold value as well as hyped Rolex. That’s a fact ! Popular Rolex bought at decent prices are as good as money in the bank. So this collector’s money has been well spent, he went with the safe money (mostly) and he’s done very well. I wouldn’t have bought the VC or the 321, they’re not going to hold value like everything else in the collection. I wouldn’t have bought that Patek Calatrava either. You need some green. I’d be adding a Hulk or a Starbucks, a jubilee Sprite and I agree with the day-date, diamond indices & fluted bezel. You need a SkyDweller as well, in blue could replace the blue VC and it has a nice complication. Just keep it all Rolex and call it a day, you don’t need anything else in there. Well done I say !!!

Great start to your collection. I'd add a Speedmaster. You've already got 2 icons so adding a 3rd really enhances it. Then I'd add a Sub No Date.

The perfect collection in my mind is 6 pieces, 2 divers, 2 Chronographs, a GMT and a dress. Then 2 would be Quartz, 2 Automatic and 2 Manual wind. That way you cover almost everything in 6 pieces without getting out of control.
You’ve posted this before. Why 2 Chronos? A speedy is probably enough. And why 2 quartz? 1 Grand Seiko is enough.
