Now I have ordered a cheap Asus TUF Gaming A520M-Plus Wifi motherboard, 2x8GB cheap 3200 RAM, R5 5500GT CPU and the cheapest RTX 4060 I could find. Plan is to put the RTX 4060 in my primary R5 5600x computer and then upgrade my secondary computer using the new motherboard and 5500GT. Then move my GTX 1070 over there. It will be a huge upgrade coming from my old i7 2600K setup. BL3 runs like shit on the i7 2600K platform VS the newer Ryzen when using the GTX 1070. There is a huge difference in what quality settings I can use and the smoothness of the game.
what are the temps of the 5500 with a stock cooler while gaming? I hear people say its fine but I can not find anything about the 5500 with stock temps.
You know the problem is 500 bucks and maybe want to upgrade later The problem is say that you cheap out on the CPU but you get a slightly better motherboard and power supply and you cheap out on the GPU too well nowadays we probably get the b580 Intel it's one of those things where if you were to go Intel CPU and then once upgrade later would have to then get a whole new motherboard and CPU instead of just upgrading the CPU and bios. I'm not an AMD like super fan but I agree with AMD's platform upgrade ability where when there's a new generation of CPU it's not a new form for a new motherboard you can then upgrade to a better chip without having to upgrade the whole CPU and motherboard it's a more cost-effective method
Thank you. It's not that I am Team Red, as it's that I understand AMD CPUs and motherboards better. Easier for me to understand the trade offs. This video is really helpful.

Upgraded my 10 year old i5 4670K 16GB DDR3 to a Ryzen 5500 32GB DDR4 on a Asus Prime B550M-A Wifi II for $325CAD. That's about $240USD after the exchange rate I believe. Intel had no promotions for their i3-12100F (and this processor didn't even have a cooler whereas the 5500 did), and the 5600X was available for about $70CAD more. Still using the same tower, 600W PSU, older style SSD SATA drive, and an older RX470 graphics card. It's being used as my entertainment desktop and attached to my TV. Hello bro im also thinking of pairing ryzen 5 5500 with rtx 4060. Can you tell me how your computer is doing now? Is there any bottlenecks and how much average fps do you get in games like valorant? Help a brother out
No. 5500 is almost the same as 3600, the difference is negligible. 5600x is little older and better in every way. Even better, you could go into 7 or 9 series instead if you plan on upgrading the card. For 4k gaming you need quite a decent PC.
They are both mid cards and should work about the same. The older 2080 uses more power but may have a slight advantage without DLSS, but the 3060 12gb should out preform the 2080 with DLSS. I personally prefer the 3060 12gb version for future games on a budget.
Not a big deal for gaming, maybe for workstation stuff, but most people buying these cpu's aren't doing very intense stuff that would require Pci-e 4.0

@@oneilclarke8494 yeah my 2600 was getting too hot even with new thermal paste and new cooler, got the 5600 in the end as the 5500 didnt support PCIe4
I have a R5 5600x in my primary computer, which runs great with a GTX 1070. I only do 1080p 60Hz gaming.
I love my 5600, its awesome paired with a 4070, plays everything maxed out...
yes, if you are using it with mid range display cards
Using 5500 with 3060 ti KFA2, Gpu working 100% and I'm playing witv 1080p seen no trubles with it. But I don't see the big need to uppgrade to 5600x
for the price, it's an absolute killer! :)
what are the temps of the 5500 with a stock cooler while gaming? I hear people say its fine but I can not find anything about the 5500 with stock temps.
I get like 52c while gaming
There is no need for new cooler unless u want to overclock
The Ryzen 5 5500 runs cool on my kids PC with a GTX 1660 6GB and 32GB DDR4-3600.
I'm not an AMD like super fan but I agree with AMD's platform upgrade ability where when there's a new generation of CPU it's not a new form for a new motherboard you can then upgrade to a better chip without having to upgrade the whole CPU and motherboard it's a more cost-effective method
similar priced cpus are 3600 at 87 and 4500 at 77, they are a little bit slower but if your playing something like GTA5 its fine
My R5500's clock always at 3.78 - 3.79 Ghz, it doesnt want to increase even stressing it using CPUID nor Cinebench...
Thank you.
It's not that I am Team Red, as it's that I understand AMD CPUs and motherboards better. Easier for me to understand the trade offs.
This video is really helpful.
Great stuff man thanks for the helpful information and funny edits! 🙌🙌🤙🤙
Im curious if its possible to run more powerful cards such as rx 7700 xt or rtx 4070?
It is possible. I might actually do that, just to see what happens. I got my hands on a 4070super so I might pair it with that.
Spoiler Alert: Nope!
I have a Ryzen 5 5500 with the RTX 4060. The CPU bottlenecks the GPU by 20-25%
sure but I wouldn't leave it like that, down the line replace the chip with something better
I just ordered my Ryzen 5 5500, I have a Ryzen 5 1600 AF, but the memory controller is not as good as the 5500 and better price to performance. I bought my Ryzen 5 1600 AF for 85 dollars back in the day. That was almost 5 years ago. I am still rocking my Asrock B450M Steel Legend and I have 4x8GB DDR4 3200MHz CL16 ram. I have a RTX 3050 8GB model and my Ryzen 5 1600 AF in some games gets bottlenecked by the cpu by 10%-30%.
Question would it be best to move up from a Ryzen 3 AMD to a Ryzen 5 5500 I want to upgrade from a 1660 6gb Gpu to a 4060 16gb Gpu Would this be Possible Please advise thanks 🙏🏼
Yeah I would do that. Right now the 5600x is only $20 more than the 5500. If you have $20 more dollars in your budget I would do that. Both are great options when pairing them with a 4060.
i have r5 5500,i3 12100f would've costed like 30-40 bucks more where i live,so i've chosen the AMD,since its cheaper,and i feel like 6 cores gonna age better that 4 that are a little bit stronger
mine 5500 using stock cooler is pretty hot, up to 95°C.
did you change the thermal paste? you should really get a new cooler if its getting that hot.
@@anteosaric3793 yep. already got new cooler
What are your temps now with the new cooler?
@@Techomode 80°C running chinebench R23. room without AC
@Dark_Wizard_of_Mu without side casing the temp drops 2 - 3°C
Hi I'm in budget so
In msi b450 motherboard pro max 2
Amd ryzen 5500 is good for Rx 6800 in 4k (I am playing game in 40fps lock )
The l2 cache sharing arch is mediocore on the 5500, its in the name "loser code pages from ori ibm xt" chip. prob even a lie about hyperthreading its really 12 single threaded cores!
I bought my Daughter the 5600 (Runs it with a 3070) last year and was thinking of building a budget PC for myself and getting the Ryzen 5 5500 and a GeForce 4060. Only want it for Fortnite on 1080p.
Yeah that would be a nice setup. Probably even do 1440p if you wanted to. Nothing wrong with 1080p though!
Could i pair this with a 6700xt or is it a major bottleneck?
@@Stilmja the bottleneck would not be bad, if there is even any. Definitely a good pairing.
You need pcie 4 if you get budget GPU with less lanes like the RX6400/500. Then it will be a "big deal".
Is it good for 3ds max vray rendering?
I mainly play warzone but I don't stream would this setup from best buy run wz good enough
Pretty happy with how it is running.
What board goes good with this cpu?
B450 with pcie3 and overclock bios or the cheaper A520 pcie3 with no overclock bios
i got 11145 and 1496 score in cinebench with r5500 oc

@@TahaBanna u sure isn't the rx 7600 stronger than rtx 3060 12gb for 1080p gaming only
The 7600 out performs the 3060. I would go with the AMD GPU when going with the 5500.
Thanx bro I will do so bro
Actually you are wrong. 4k is easier on this cpu than 1080p

No bottleneck....
Hello bro im also thinking of pairing ryzen 5 5500 with rtx 4060. Can you tell me how your computer is doing now? Is there any bottlenecks and how much average fps do you get in games like valorant? Help a brother out
A lot of people recommended to use a 5600 instead, but I found the 5500 to be way cheaper and more available
I think the game benchmarks only shows the gpu performance
Let’s not talk about water cooling in his build.and a 4060 TI is budget too. What even is this clickbait?
I have a 6800xt and r5 3600
Change the 5500 win plus fps minimum average?
1440p and 4k play the games
No. 5500 is almost the same as 3600, the difference is negligible. 5600x is little older and better in every way. Even better, you could go into 7 or 9 series instead if you plan on upgrading the card. For 4k gaming you need quite a decent PC.
Can ryzen 5 5500 pair on rtx 2080 super
Rtx 2080 super or rtx 3060 which one is better?
2080 super performs better so get the 2080
They are both mid cards and should work about the same. The older 2080 uses more power but may have a slight advantage without DLSS, but the 3060 12gb should out preform the 2080 with DLSS. I personally prefer the 3060 12gb version for future games on a budget.
I can't stand how much I love the dumb jokes.
Lol
you lose the pci-e 4.0 functionality of your SSD with both the 5500 and 5600(G) :(
Not a big deal for gaming, maybe for workstation stuff, but most people buying these cpu's aren't doing very intense stuff that would require Pci-e 4.0
@@Techomode right so dont buy the 4.0 ssd, by the cheaper 3.0 ssd
I'm using sata SSD, so this thing is not relevant to me
Boosted mine to a stock 4.2 ghz
Can i pair it with the rtx 3070
@@aunoxed4636 Yes! That’s what I currently have it paired with. Works perfect at 1440p for any game.
@@Techomode tnx for your reply 😊
i sub because of the kitty in the video
But i was getting like 200 plus fps in gta with this build.
what settings?
@@Techomode with high setting but its not only the ryzen that decides the performance of a pc its everything else too
Is RX 580 graphics card good for this cpu?
This cpu can handle much more than that GPU. It would be fine but your GPU would be your bottleneck.
