Great idea using the air fryer to make your toad in the hole. The sausages looked scrumptious, but I’ve been making Yorkshire pudding and toad in the hole for over forty years, I copied my grammas recipe and she only used one egg mostly water with just a drop of milk obviously flour ,and the Yorkshire pudding always turns out fluffy and light with a beautiful crispy crust. But I must say I enjoy watching backyard kitchen 👍👍
Tried this in the oven (not sure how I'm gonna get it to work in a Ninja air fryer), and it's literally the only recipe I've found that actually works...wife doesn't even like toad in the lole and even she loved it...thanks a million dude 👌🏻
Hey man - thanks for the comment - hope you check out more on my channel - all my recipes work just adjust to taste. I can't see the point in making a video and showing tosh like some. Best, Rik
I was born in England and moved to the USA when I was eight years old. I still love a Sunday Roast with Yorkshire Pudding. Never made or had Toad in the Hole, but it's two of my favorite things...Yorkshires and Sausages!!! I didn't know what I was going to do for dinner tonight, but now I know!!! Thanks!
@@BackyardChef I'm in the US and we don't have the variety of sausages you folks do. I did some looking around and what we call country or breakfast sausage is fairly close to yours. Now the problem is these sausages, in link form, are small, about the size of a longish AA battery, and not the bratwurst size you're using. I will have to check some of the more "upscale" markets here since they tend to have unique items that the big chain markets don't. I look forward to trying this dish and thanks for posting your video, it got me revved up again to try to make it.
@@pathiggins4455 Cheers Pat - loved to hear you are revved up that is what its all about - that means a lot to me. As far as sausages go they dont sound too good if they are the size of a AA battery. If you can get skins - take the small sausage meat out and re stuff - a lot of hassle if you can just get hold of some from somewhere! Best of luck - look forward to you telling me you made this. Best, Rik
Yum. My UK-born aunt re-introduced me to YP a few years ago. Dad, the 'normal' cook in the family while alive, never made them. I then found out my aunt was buying FROZEN, pre-cooked ones! Her husband, born in a UK town well-known for being 'Irish'(!) liked them a lot. They were Ok, but this recipe looks good.
Hi there just found you tod in hole looks delish I've made this in my small cosori it come out perfect every time never had batter come out so well .Great vid hugs from Shropshire
Just got my airfryer and fancied doing this, you cant beat homemade toad in the hole ay I remember my dad liked his really thick glad i came across your video
Bit late to the party, but looks good, so will give it a go. But the secret to a good toad in the hole are the sausages, can I ask which ones you use? Since my local butchers closed, I have struggled to find decent ones.
You want about 1 1/4 cups of water to 1/4 or 1/2 cup oil if you want to use more oil. Use any oil of choice for the air fryer - Avocado, Olive, Canola - up to you. Make sure you give the bottle a good shake before spraying Oil and Water separate. Hope this helps. Thank you. Best, Rik
What gravy do you make for your Toad In The Hole? I've made onion gravy (without flour) with Yorkshire pudding but I think a Beef Gravy would be better myself or maybe sausage without the milk.
I have tried it in the air fryer and it's OK...But made in the oven is a different level bro. Ask yourself one question....Oven Yorkshire or air fryer Yorkshires? Yes it works and it saves a lot of time. You won't be upset with the results but if you have the time....do it the right way hahahahaha. Great video bro. keep the content flowing, it's always a pleasure and a school day watching your skills in the kitchen.

Rick, I notice you only used half of the batter you made up. Can you keep the rest (maybe freeze it?) for future use, or can you just halve the ingredients to use all of it?
Yes you can half - I always make more. You can keep it in the fridge for 2 days no more - it ferments. Makes great Yorkshires, Freeze cooked portions. Best, Rik
I watched your other toad in the hole video too just before, now I’ve watched this one but I’m curious about your batter Rik. I thought you either had to use S.R. flour or put baking powder in your plain flour. In both of your videos I never saw or heard you mention baking powder in your flour. I was going to make this during the week next week and now I want to know does it need baking powder. I’m wondering if that’s one of the reasons my Yorkshire puddings didn’t turn out, although I’ve only tried them a couple of times years ago, but they never turned out neither did my toad in the hole. I’d like to get it right this time cos I can’t afford to waste ingredients these days. If you could let me know I’d really appreciate it Rik. Thanks and have a great weekend.

The inside of the pudding looked under cooked to me, shouldnt it have been all puffed up and crisp at the bottom as well...maybe a thinner batter mix and a few minutes longer to cook..
My brother's been on me to get an air fryer for ages now but I honestly never understood his fascination. After seeing a couple of your videos I'm leaning towards actually getting one.
