I think dual stance is great for mob's of enemies. It's how I beat 150 droids challenge. Being able to action-cancel and parry at anytime is great for mobs because you never know when one of them might swing at you. Plus the speed allowed me to chop through droids pretty quickly.
Blaster stance trivializes Oggdos and other bosses susceptible to stagger. It's the best stance if you account to cheese - point blank, once mastered, makes you night invournelable, and quick draw gives extra stagger amo on top of regular amo. Again, Oggdos won't even approach. But if you want to fight fair, then yeah, it's disappointing. Despite its obvious flaws and your fair judgement, I still LOVE Crossguard stance. I think at least for me, it has the best rythm, and the have Hold X attack trivializes Sub-boss type enemies.
I tend to use the blaster stance in a fencing style. Hitting enemies while they’re mid-swing and cutting them off is nice, or shooting them in between paries
A technique I've developed particularly when low on health is back flipping constantly and firing a shot between each flip gives you room to breathe to heal and then switch to your other stance
I've been using double-bladed stance since the beginning (because there are lots of mobs in the game) and at first I was switching back to single-blade to figut big single enemies; but now I'm just keeping the double-bladed stance because it DOES have a secondary "mode" meant to be used against single targets: if you hold x (or square on PS), the moves change, and the whole cycle is also different if you keep using the held button (5 different moves). The damage against single targets is VERY good, albeit you do get animation-locked if you use it incorrectly. I tried single-blade against the spawn of oggdo extensively, but only killed it with the double-bladed stance once I got the right feel for it.
For my whole first playthrough, i pretty much only used the single saber stance. I rotated through all the other stances as a secondary, but almost never used them.
I primarily use blaster stance because it looks so cool, but I like to keep the crossguard in my secondary slot. It does a lot of damage, it makes you want to make every swing count, and the charged reflection ability works well against almost every enemy that has a blaster.
Great ranking list. Well thought out and rational reasoning. That being said the dual wield is the most “fun” to play for me. I’ve played so many single wielding light saber SW games in the past it’s cool to have something g new to play with. Also Ashoka is my favorite SW character so that helps too! I do think I’ll try to play around more with the staff after watching this though since it does seem fun as well. Thanks again for making this video. Very entertaining
I think double sided is the best secondary stance. Great against blasters, groups, larger enemies. It can keep bosses staggered for a long time with its super quick hits.
Blaster stance is best for mob if you have ricochet or stun shot and force shot that can take out multi enemies and second best for boss fights using charge shot and marksmanship and ambidextrous Ease of use should be worst to best Cross guard Dual Double Blaster Single Mob control worst to best Single Dual Cross guard - if you have reflective bold and then jump force ground line attack it handles crowds great Blaster with ricochet or stun Double Boss fights worst to best Double Single Crossguard Dual it’s force parry ability can be clutch and it’s the only stance that lets you cancel an attack and block Blaster - with the exception of bode and skritons nearly all main and legendary bosses you can beat from safe distance and stun them for a bit so you can get a few lightsaber swings to re ammo up, it’s the only stance that has perks strictly for it and most speed runners use it since it’s overpowered with its perks and force shot and flux perks
Considering you can cancel the attack animation at any point with a parry/guard with the dual blade stance I'd say its pretty good at groups. Dual saber throw does a ton of damage too in general I feel ur sleeping on blaster also, works great with dodges since the lunge has great range and u can get multiple shots in while closing the distance. Constant damage and pressure. The blaster parry ability deserves a mention too because it can even be used against red unblockable attacks Those are def my top 2, I only use double bladed at times because its best against projectiles. I see no reason to use single or cross guard tbh
once i discovered charged shot on blaster stance, i barely used other stance for all the game. I was always shooting mfs, my other stace was usually crossguard or single saber. I used Dual and Double and got bored of both.
I only played with the "access all stances all the time" mod, so that influenced my favorite stances. I found myself using dual-wielding, crossguard, and blaster the most, as I could handle most situations between the three of them. In this scenario, single blade's versatility wasn't appealing because I always had the option to choose a more specialized stance instead.
Blaster stance with the shot dmg and the saber dmg after a shot perks. I tear through bosses. Also use rotate between saber and shot to get the saber dmg up every strike. (X) then (Y) rotating. Also like the finish animation.
Went saber staff and duel sabers for 95% of the game personally, but the single saber is still probably the best. Edit: blaster stance is GOAT against Oogdoo though. The charge shot interrupts it's unlockables. I'm convinced it's the single reason I beat that mofo on Master (there's no way I'm fighting it on GM).
Crossguard stance desperately needs some sort of quick attack, even if it does comparatively little damage. Either that or implement some sort of Dark Souls style poise or hyperarmor. Far too many enemies will simply beat you to the draw constantly and knock you out of your attacks, cancelling them.
I completely agree, but I don’t think that the differences between stances are anything more than marginal. You could make it through the game with whichever one you like, some are just more situational; which is why the single bladed stance is truly the best no question. That said, I rock the crossguard stance because I’ve always used ultra greatswords in souls games and I feel at home with it. I would say that the double bladed stance is objectively the best in used in tandem, but you’re not gonna give me a gun and that I don’t use. Plus the executions in the blaster and crossguard stances are the best imo.
I think it is good design if single blade has highest skill ceiling in general but is not immediately as good as the others or as good as the others in certain circumstances.
I’m trying to love the cross guard but it just feels so clunky… maybe once I get the perk that gives you poise I’ll run it. Dual wield is op cause of the cancel but it’s aesthetics are bottom tier. I rank single and blaster on the same tier, blaster gives a lot of utility. Single is good at everything with no weaknesses, and has a lot of mobility. Double blade is by far the best looking, and is surprisingly powerful vs single targets as well. Current run using double blade and blaster.
great ranking. I was super ready to disagree with you, because most of the other ranking videos i have seen were totally backwards, but you did a good job here.
I'm so little of a star wars fan that if I wanted to be a star wars fan I wouldn't even know the order to start watching the movies in, that being said from my perspective the crossguard makes no sense as a lightsaber stance. How does cals lightsaber suddenly become 50lbs heavier? And if it doesn't then the fighting stance makes even less sense lol.
2 out of 5 stances is only thing I don't like from this game. Not even a costumise option for the blaster and holster to just for looks. Everything else awesome game ✌️🙏
Not a bad ranking for any of these. I will say that while I agree with you when using these stances exclusively, if you use complimentary stances (single blade/cross guard) and swap between them mid combat or even mid swing with practice, you can absolutely shred every encounter with ease. My main two stances all game was single and cross guard stance. Single for most starts to an encounter and swapped to cross for single opponents or even mid combo for heavy damage or finisher is fun and stylish as hell. I understandable is you disagree but to get the most out of combat it’s the best way to play because forcing yourself to use a single stance at all times can be a unique challenge, it’s objectively not how the game was intended to played
I don’t really like the Single Blade stance tbh. I played a good bit of Jedi FO, so I mostly had my fill with it. which difficulty did you play on? based on my experience, i find damage output to be more important over other categories such as crowd control on higher difficulties, which is probably due to the fact that it’s best to single out specific enemies in groups when they simply deal more damage, and can stack easier because of higher aggression. i played on jedi knight, and ng+ on grand master, and found double bladed to be almost unusable in my re-playthrough, but crossguard was incredible. it taught me to take my time and be rewarded with fantastic damage, especially against bosses.

The Blaster and Double Bladed stances are my favourite because between them you feel like you have a fully equipped tool set ready to take on anything

They should have given it a quick force based pommel strike to throw an enemy of balance long enough to wind up a heavy blow.
I’ve been using the blaster a lot!
I feel like if you dedicate yourself to any stance, you can get really good with it.
Cross saber with 1.5x speed mod makes it my second favorite stance, right after double saber, which I love just because SPIN TO WIN lol.
