Single is still my favorite so far. I guess I just play better with it, I know how to combo things better. If doesn’t have a weakness imo either. It’s very fast, defense is fine, damage is good.
Its a very good stance, and rp too (In cinematic its the stance Cal use. And fun fact if you use Crossguard and finish fight with the saber will have the two little blade on the side)
Crossguard is my favorite. It deals huge chunks of damage and obliterates enemy stamina bars. I love that it's slow, because I have always been in love with high risk=high reward playstyle. Despite it being so slow that you can deal almost the same amount of damage with several other stances, I am personally good and effective at the playstyle so I can personally deal the most amounts of damage with it. I also absolutely love the big change of pace with it and the awesome heavy-feeling attacks. The other stance really depends, I like all other stances a lot but I tend to use Blaster or Dual sabers for most situations. Big respect for everybody's opinion! All stances are actually great if you know how to use them. But me, being a Great Sword main in Elden Ring, that tasty change of pace, high risk high damage is irresistable for me personally. Have a great day lad!
i find the risk way too high at the grand master difficulty, almost everything on shots so missing your attack is pretty much a force respawn, expecially with the bosses and larger enamies where agression stops the AI doing waht it wants to do.
@@7angels844 Same goes with New Journey+ with Purity. When enemies are that tough and agressive, its more difficult to get hits in with CG. It is possible, but not recommended.
I found it worked well if you’re playing like a souls game, taking your time with bosses and looking for an opening to deal heavy damage then backing off. I think the problem people had with it was overcommitting on attacks where they are expecting to be able to just spam hits with minimal consequence but finding it doesn’t work like that. Definitely one of the more skill based stances that take patience and thought to use effectively.
After reading the comments I don't think others have realized how absolutely broken dual weild is. Its not about damage, reach, speed, its the special 'skill' of it. You can press block at any time even during an attack. Which means you can always parry something. Dual wielding makes every boss fight easy if you know their moveset, because you can attack constantly, parry in the midst of a combo, then keep going. The only other one I would run is double edge because of its blocking ability against heavy gunners, but once I realized what dual wield does I never switched off it.
I think single lightsaber is actually very underrated in this game. The left bumper or L1 + light attack is so good. The dash kind of tracks onto bosses even if they dash or go invisible. It's so good in the 1v1 boss fights
I didn’t see one instance of this in the video, but the melee animations let you weave in attacks. It’s nasty. Hit the fire button immediately after a melee attack. You can weave in three blaster shots in between your melee hits except for the final pistol whip/stab animation. If you get good at it you can do it fast, like if you were attacking normally/spamming the button.
@@tayvongray5387melee reds. Once I did by mistake, I started practicing on everything I could. I've been able to parry all melee non aoe red attacks so far
I like blaster and double blade. It’s kind of a trade off between single target and AoE, speed and finesse, offense and defense. With this set you’re covered at all ranges and have some of the coolest animations. I also think the blaster is fitting for Cal, like he’s finding his own way moving past just being a Jedi. Realizing he can do more good by being more than a Jedi
Blaster stance with full perks for more lightsaber dmg after shots and more blaster dmg, adds alot if you remeber to weave in blaster shots in meelee. The animations of this also looks cool. Started to crush huge groups with force powers after having enough points instead of using doubleblade, so now looking for another backup weapon that best helps to fight the hard boss battles.
My favorite combo is dual stance and crossguard because i have super fast attacks to take down someones defense and then i can take a chunk of health out with one or two blows. I think what a lot of people are forgetting with this game, is that the reason you have two stances equipped at once is because they are to be used in tandem. The blaster stance is week on its own but when used with the single blade or cross guard it can be very well utilized by using the blaster and quick jabs to take down the shield and then do a couple of heavy attacks while their guard is down
I’m using regular and blaster; blaster has a really nice looking swinging style and the swings do a lot more damage than I expected, and the regular just looks the most natural. The double bladed has probably the coolest looking animations, but only Maul can make it look fully clean
Love the blaster stance. Can easily take care of a bunch of the weaker enemies one shorting them. Then for bosses you can break their guard from a far and then do the rapid fire lunges to get all your shots back. Repeat! And it really fits the like space western fantasy that so much of Star Wars falls into.
I thought I'd be using the duel wield stance as my primary, but I gravitated to the blaster stance. It's blaster parry is just so satisfying, not to mention it can parry unblockable attacks if you get the timing down. Because it doesn't do well in groups, I have it paired the double blade.
All of em super cool. Playing with all one by one. Blaster one turn out better than expected. You can actually combo with it. 1 blaster shot after every saber swing. Single stance overall best imo. You have jump attack, dash attack, simple and effective string
For now my fav is to use the cross guard for the massive power on the larger enemies and the double blade for the smaller stuff or when there's a load swamping you.
Right now blaster feels like the most fun overall paired with mostly maxed resilience and concentration trees, it also involves the most upgrades, and I agree the skill tree isn't flashy but because of that I feel like it's got 0 fat on it, every skill is useful, the blaster skills either keep pressure on single target stamina bars, or if properly utilized, good players (not me) should be able to crowd control while they lunge in and pick certain targets off, you have a lot of options, I think you have to make use of the parry shot to get people off you as well as the deadeye skill to hit multiple opponents whenever possible, also stun charge can help manage the battle, greater hold turns the tide with any one of the aforementioned strategies, without being OP because you only get like 1 greater hold per fight, it allows you to set up an effective dead-eye or gives you time to lunge in and take out the most irritating target, so many options. I am still not great at it, but for me it feels like a really intentional stance, I find that I need to get much better at targeting specific enemies so I can get a charge shot off on someone I don't want to deal with now and then when pressing the attack the cadence between lightsaber and normal blaster shots is really fun, back and forth between square and triangle seems to reward with quick kills, and it eats up your ammo forcing you to drop into block stance and get off a flurry or time a perfect evade to recover enough force to do a flurry. So far it's my favorite because it really feels like I gotta have a plan going into everything: force pull and kill that range guy, then stun shot that strong guy, lunge in and take out the other guy, parry shot whoever is on top of me at that point, greater hold to deadeye to buy more time, and on and on. It's also a weird stance because you can combo defensive moves, like normal parry first attack, perfect evade second and then parry blast the final attack. I run single blade as my secondary because I love the smooth feel of holstering the blaster and shifting to a slightly different fighting style without needing to transform the hilt, I also love how aerial single blade can be, and it has a few strong saber swings without going full crossguard levels of slow.
Started with Dual Wield, but didn't like the moves that much, moved to Maul-style, loving the moves, especially the adsh forward and the animations if you keep hitting attack. But only recently rerolled to go with Single handed after being fed with all these alternative styles. Couldn't be happier with single! Very cool moves, you feel like your favorite lightsaber hero and the attacks are fast and do very good dmg. Beside, it looks really weird to have two green sabers or green double blade. But single looks great!
for me they go like this 1) Crossguard - longtime Souls player so this large Space Greatsword made me feel right at home. The overcharged deflect became to good for blaster defense, why bother shooting them yourself when you can bounce there own bolt back, but dozens of times stronger? Despite it's slow nature, the jump attack is actually quite fast and boosts the stances stagger potential, leading to very quick "instant air attacks" I named them (tap the jump button lightly, Cal will barely jump off the ground only a few inches, you can attack during this airborne state if your fast) and yeeting your lightsaber through 10 Stormtroopers never gets old 2) Blaster - found it best one on one when I needed a bit more speed and the range is nice. The flurry stab restore shots quickly and the overcharge shot demolishes stamina and health bars so it has some rather heafty damage to. The quickdraw is nice when used with the force to level a crowded battlefield quickly 3) Single - Very balance when I can't make up my mind. Wide open moveset gives it a bit of everything. Aerial Dash Strike is also rather good at closing distances as well, I really can't find anything else to compete with it and in some situations I was able to use it as a make-shift mobility tool as well. I tended to keep coming back to it far more often then most other weapons. I preferred others like Crossguard or Blaster but the balance it gives is something I couldn't pass up for general exploring, especially new planets 4) Double blade - Not that it is bad, I actually do enjoy it a lot and it is always the one stance I have equipped at all times. Early game worked quickly for melting bosses. It may have low damage, but like the blaster it is very deceiving. Each swing it about 3 or 4 hits and those swings mixed in with charged swings (each hit of the combo has it's own charged animation, each one dealing significantly more damage then the last BTW) My main boss melting combo went attack, attack, charge attack, tears stamina bars apart and chunks bosses. I did like other stances more but I couldn't take it off due to its crowd control, great defense and surprising boss melting abilities. It tended to loose it's defensive luster when the Crossguard came into the fold and the Crossguard and Blaster took over as main boss demolishers but crowd control became it's only use mid to late game 5) Dual Wield - I tried to make it work but for me, naturally favoring heavy weapons, I couldn't find my mojo with it. When I did get it going it still felt clunky, awkward and very risky to use with it's lower stamina and I seemed to take more damage while using it but I could be mistaken on that one. Most of the skills seemed useless overall apart from the split beam and auto parry stuff. The charged and delayed attacks definitely seemed useless. The retreating attack ended up getting me killed on quite a few occasions as even while using it to get out of trouble I still get hit which is always nice thanks to its one direction dodge and the cancel is nice, but I ended up using it to stop my attacks and parry and go back to attacking. I just can't get it through my head that with this stance I can in theory make my attacks safe in situations I deserve to be hit in due to misreading an attack, mistiming something, getting to greedy. It just feels so....wrong to me personally I stopped using Dual Wield altogether it doesn't click for me and I get killed in situations I survive using any other stance. I focused on Crossguard, Blaster and Single as my primary and Double Blade as crowd control.
So many are sleeping on the single blade because of the new stances. I'd say overall the single blade is one of the best because it hits fairly hard and have some good moves unlike what you said. You just didn't bother with it. Charged throw, overhead attacks, dash attacks and lunge with fairly long range and then the standard swings. Because it's all around a good stance, it's also good in most situations and it's good at going against elite. Like you said all the stances have some "trade-offs" but that is just the thing. Single blade doesn't have any trade-off. It has no real weakness. dash and lunge = close in from range. standard attacks deals with multiple enemies, Charged throw is range and increased damage. Leap attacks and overhead attacks. You can even deal with airborne droids. It actually has the most options and diversity in it's skills. The other ones have a few but they just follow one another. Double blade is otherwise good for crowds, with flurry of attacks but since weaker hits, mostly good for weaker but many mobs. Blaster stance seems really weak in the shots and the trade off is you have no real blade skills. Cross guard seems great as heavy hitter. but the big risk of a missed timing in how slow you move. With single blade by the time you do one hard hit with cross guard you have done the same damage with a single blade.
yeah I agree, it's what I mained until blaster stance and I feel like it's my strong secondary if things get out of hand now, I put the blaster away and get to business, it's not spin-to-win OP, but it's got a decent amount of aerial combat and ways to move quickly around the battle, and it's got powerful strikes without being so slow as to throw off my cadence from other stances like crossguard does for me. I love single.
100%. personally id probably say the singleblade stance comboed with the double blade stance is objectively the best combo of stances you can go with. the single blade is very good allaround against any single targets or low numbers of enemies, meanwhile the doubleblade stance offers you that aoe damage if you get overwhelmed with the singleblade stance. Theres literally no other stance combo that can provide that kind of versatility for you
IMO, in pure power it goes 1. Blaster stance- there is so much you can do with the blaster stance. It’s great in group fights, great in boss fights, there is just so much you can do with this. It has great range and has great defenses while still being able to dish out damage. 2. Double bladed- disintegrates groups, and still good in boss fights, also arguably has the best skill tree 3. Single- the most basic, but also the Jack of all trades. This is the most consistent, has cheapest moves as well. It has basically no problems 4. Dual- super quick some solid moves, but also defensively quite weak and has quite weak range. Still good though. 5. Crossguard- they’re all good, but it can be slow and is honestly pretty weak in group encounters
I think with Blaster you overlooked the charge shot upgrades that you can switch between, the AoE shot for just bigger damage, the ricochet shot to bounce the shot around and the stun shot that drops the lightning field which is a great area denial tool and opener against enemies that block alot. Just my thoughts on the matter
Charge shot upgrades you can switch between!? Wait, how do you switch between them? I don't see any upgrades for charge shot aside from the one that speeds up the charge.
@Isra the black it's not in the tree, it's unlocked from the Bounty System. You can unlock different versions of the charge shot that you can switch to when selecting stances
@@IsraTheBlack You need to buy them from Caij, and then you cna switch them in the stance menu, the stun shot for example makes easy work of any so called harder enemies.
I was kinda hoping they’d set the single blade apart by making it better at parrying; either with a larger timing window or doing more block damage against enemies.
I’m definitely going to use single blade and double bladed! I really like the idea of using the single for solo attacks and the switching to the double bladed for large crowds.
I gotta say the saberstaff and cross-guard are my favorites so far: the former for groups, the latter for dueling single targets. I really want to like the blaster stance, but it just feels a bit awkward to use in the heat of the moment, especially against groups or in enclosed spaces.
0:52 the biggest advantage to "single stance" is the fact. The very FIRST time you break enemies gaurd, you can do a "finisher" (only stance that does that)
I'm halfway through my first playthrough and I am able to slaughter enemies with relative ease whilst running on Jedi Master, simply by using the Single Blade stance with a Blaster stance as a backup for pot shots (though it doesn't often get used). Single just has great fluidity, several combo attacks with the ability to chain stun enemies, whilst maintaining ample defence stats. Patience and well-timed attacks means you can avoid being hit very well. It definitely works if you're in a pinch, but obviously most people will probably overlook it because it's the basic, jack-of-all-trades, traditional lightsaber type and not quite so flashy. Maybe I'll switch it up later on or in my next playthrough.
Started single, but switched to blaster once I got it unlocked. On Grandmaster, the ability to weave in the blaster bolts into the combo for bigger damage combined with the constant pressure you can exert even while dodging back is just to OP. For big groups, you just mix in force powers with charged shots and it evens out. Really wished I had it unlocked before the Rancor, then maybe I wouldn't have been 1 shot like 15 times. T_T
@@Dave-jk3jb Honestly, I just play around with the second stance. I haven't run into anything I really NEEDED to switch stances for. The enemies are super spongy on GM, so a stance where you can clear out several small enemies quickly would be best to pair I think. Double blade or Dual seem the best suited for that. That way you got another option for easy add control if your force power and blaster ammo are out, and that'll free you up so you can focus down on the tougher enemies
@@sleepyhavoc6752 See the reply I just gave to Dave for more detail, but spark notes version, I personally don't have a set one. If you're in a situation where your blaster and force are out though, it might be best to run a stance good in add control. Double blade and dual are best for that, I think.
@@sleepyhavoc6752 blaster is best with single or dual weild as backups, they both have great combos and lots of moves to learn for when you run out of blaster shots
Blaster is probably the best overall stance. Its almost never a bad time to use. It great balance between everything. And then using your favorite dps alt stance for big enemies
I’m using the double bladed and the blaster stance. One for groups and one for single target. Seems to cover all my bases quite well. Most satisfying thing is pulling in a bunch of enemies and then using the force attack with the double sided stance. Great for calving through enemies
I'm playing on the Jedi Knight difficulty and I have been having a lot of success with the Blaster and Double bladed stances though I have been using the blaster stance more since its so different. but I feel like they complement each other well and cover the weakness of the other stance.
Blaster stance is op once fully upgraded, and using the perks for charged shot. It melts heavy enemies, as you can weave shots in between all strikes, and it recharges so much shot and force energy with energizing flurry. It's Bloodborne style parry is both powerful and badass to boot. Add the fact that the saber style is obviously form 2, Makashi, and you just look pimp using it. For my secondary I switch between dual wield and single saber. Dual wield is a bit more powerful, but single saber stance gets slept on. Also it just looks the most natural. I will say they could have added like one more new skill to buff it a bit, but I still like it.
Dual and double, been experimenting a lot with hot swapping between them because you can animation cancel. One swing can be dual and the next double with no separation or joining animations
Playing on jedi grand master i really did not adapt well on the cross guard, too slow for me and the aggressiveness of the enemies means that for me any scenario other than a single enemy makes it mostly useless, and for single enemies i prefer the dual wield. double bladed also didn't pay of for me. too situational, it only really excels at fighting big groups of small beasts. Single bladed was really solid for me as a jack of all trades until blaster came up. Blaster is the best IMO because it tackles the biggest issue in the game for my playstyle which is closing the range gap. so i keep Blaster as my main and dual for dealing with single enemies or swarms. so my rank would be: 1- Blaster - good speed and great range control. lots of utility. 2- dual wield - great for dueling big stamina enemies, good for dealing with groups. 3 - Single bladed - Good at everything but not great at anything. 4 - crossguard - Good against big enemies, mediocre at everything else. 5 - double bladed - spectacular against swarms of shooters and small beasts, crap at all else. too situational to be effective at higher difficulties.
Honestly I love the single blade stance. I've perfected it's use, and on grandmaster difficulty that's tough. But usually I'm equipping the double blade and duel wield with the single. Just in case, cause on grandmaster the smallest thing can kill you if your not on point. And if your wondering how to get better, play with the purity perk on. It increases damage to one hit realistic damage. Your lightsaber and enemy blasters are one hit. You have a split second to stim and have like .1hp after every hit. Very difficult coupled with grandmaster difficulty. 5 hours of that and when I took the perk off grandmaster felt alot easier. I highly recommend using that perk to get better. It really makes you think about every move. Super cool. Especially now that I'm experimenting with different stances using the perk. It's literally a game changer.
the double bladed is much better in this game than the last. I found it breaking through enemy guards faster and stronger than the duel wield stance. Although the stats say it doesn't have as much power, I found it very useful in one on one fights and with many enemies. Also the special attacks are better and more useful than the duel wield at least for me. The duel wield delayed strikes would always get interrupted by the enemy I was attacking and I could never finish the full attack without getting hit. I switched to using double bladed mainly and I recommend trying it out in more scenarios, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Single saber is always my default and I'll rarely switch out of it. It feels and looks the most natural and it has a good rhythm in combat. Crossguard is too slow. Dual wield defense is abysmal and animation locking is the worst. Blaster is so uncivilized. Double-bladed is situational (and is my back-up). At the end of the day, turns out I didn't like any of the 'new' stances. Single saber is just an all-around good option and thematically makes the most sense.
Ive been running the crossguard and dual saber since anything I cant easily fight with the crossguard I can overwhelm with the dual saber. Also the crossguards ability to reflect back a charged shot for extra damage is awesome for taking out low level skirmishers that are annoying you at range.
You missed a critical tech with dual wield, you can cancel out of block with a dodge (or jump), and can be done during any part of any basic saber swing (not dash attack). This also comes out "frame 1" in fighting game terms. With good reactions you can bail out of any badly timed attack and dodge, parry, or at least block literally anything, which is completely gamechanging. I've been maining dual wield through Grandmaster and it's solid in all situations. I only break out the saberstaff to chain reflect when needed.
Dual wield is actually the most defensive stance because you can "feint" an attack with block, then just dodge if its an unblockable. Its so strong I have to stop myself from using it because it makes grandmaster too easy for me
Love your perspective on the stances. My head canon with my Cal is that he is getting aggressive and blasters. Dual sabers and blaster stance is my bread and butter.
I am running crossguard for single target and double bladed for small stuff and AoE. Although I have to say that dual wield is my favorite looking stance but for some reason I never found a rhythm for it personally.
I love how well they balanced all of these, but cross guard stands out to me, you do so much damage and because you one shot most basic enemies it’s actually really good for fighting groups
My favourites are blaster, i've been dreaming about this since Jedi Knight. And double-bladed, amazing for crowd control, plus those moves, mm chef's kiss.
Blaster stance is really good, the only that could consistently stagger oggdo boggdo, I was struggling so hard with him on grandmaster, then when I swapped stances it became much easier
I use Dual sabers with crossblade claymore. I destroy shiet, even groups. I get good combos switching back and fourth with force power etc, Groups barely touch me and bigger units fall with crossblade. Twin vipers are great for mobs. This is my prefered style and ill stick with it until I master it, than master single and double blade.
Personal take (I play in grandmaster and die a lot) 1. Single blade: 3 combo strikes are crispy, and deal most damage within a time frame. Can deal with all the situations. The downside it's boring compared to other stances. 2. Double blade: best vs groups of small minions. Long animation for one strike, which is vulnerable to large enemies and boss. 3. Dual wielding: After testing, it takes 20-25% more damage than the rest stances. It will have a higher rank if I don't die often. I got one shot by Rancor's light attack / chicken crush after 2 times HP upgrade. 4. Cross guard: Some sequel BS. Good vs single/elite enemies. Timing well, it will perform extremely well. It means you need to know the enemy's moveset, not good for the first (grandmaster) gameplay. When cornered by >3 small enemies, can't make a swing before you get staggered. 5. blaster: Not the jedi way.
My favorite is Dual Wield + Double Blade. Not just for the offense + defense combo, but canonically I feel like it makes most sense with how Cal carries his sabers. Plus they look cool as hell and that's worth a lot.
My favorite mainstay stance is actually double bladed. It also has multi deflect and it has one other attribute that may be more unintentional but it works for me well. Will most stances you have to be facing the target when attacking to get any real result. with the double bladed stance, I am constantly dodging around enemies and hitting them with basic attacks almost no matter what. So, I find it extremely effective against anything but a boss. For them, I use the cross guard. For me, the boss fights are largely about opportunity and patience, So, speed is not as big a factor because I am generally only attacking when I clearly can. I have not finished the game, so this may not work all the time, but it is serving me well so far.
Running dual blades+crossguard, like going for slow heavy attacks and switching midway to speed. But I have blaster upgraded midway and switch it our sometimes
I'm currently using DoubleBlade as the main stance. It's not very often, outside of bosses, that we are facing single targets so anything that does AoE will be more effective for me. I just find that playstyle, like the TwinBlades in Elden Ring, WAY more fun compared to the other styles. For the secondary stance I'm currently using Crossguard but haven't been having much fun with it. Without having any sort of poise I find I get knocked out of my animations far too often for it to be super useful. During one Boss fight I tried to use the Cross because of the increased power but was having a ton of issues. Once I switched back to the DoubleBlade I beat the boss the next attempt. I'm unsure of which other style, between Single and Dual, I'll focus on but I am planning to respec to prioritize those two styles once I've come to a decision. I can then fill the rest out over time.
OK, so my opinion on each stance: -Single: If it wasn't for the fact that I used to randomly swap my stances around, or that I've been recently using the Lightsaber Stances mod (which allows you to swap them around on the fly) I wouldn't use the Single stance. But after playing with it for a while, I must admit... it's pretty good. Like the video says, it's an all-rounder, but it still has a few nice abilities. The video already mentions Dash Strike as a winner, but Aerial Assault paired with Aerial Ace is actually a pretty strong move. On the contrary, the video also highlights Twofold Reflection which... I'll be honest with you, I don't think I ever had the chance of using it on the 60 hours I've been playing. Definitely the weakest deflection upgrade. But overall, the stance is really solid with a bunch of highlights. It's just not that flashy compared with the others, and flashiness is something many people considers, myself included. -Double: OK, this one is really a glow-up from the previous game. Sure, range is still an issue, but I would say it's a really good stance. Despite the fact it has lower power, I feel like it actually does more damage to health thanks to it's multiple hits, and that paired with Gathering Tempest and Endless Hurricane makes it a pretty strong offensive option. It also has, arguably, the best deflection out of any stance, and unlike the others this one comes free with the stance (with an skill to improve it even more). The Strong attacks... I don't really use them that much compared to other stances, but they're good for crowd control. Definitely one of the best stances in my opinion. -Dual: ...OK, take a seat, this one is going to be rough. I would be lying if I said I don't like this stance (I swapped out Single for Dual as soon as I had the chance), but although I like this stance, it's also the one that gave me the most headaches. It has lower stamina than the rest of the stances, and it's definitely noticeable (sure, you can block-cancel your attacks, but I don't think that's explicitly told anywhere. I could be wrong, illiterate, or both, though). The Strong attack is definitely the one I like the least among all stances. Sure, in theory it basically allows you to stand there and counter any enemy foolish enough to attack you. In practice (and in my experience), if said enemy decides to do an unblockable attack, you're screwed 9 out of 10 times, since canceling the animation and dodging takes its time. But hey, it's not all bad with this stance. Split Reflection is one of the best reflections in the game, Backstep slash is pretty useful, and Dancing Blades is both spectacular and good for cleaning up weaklings. But this stance gave me problems that the others didn't give me, which makes it probably my least favorite (although I still use it regularly). -Blaster: Now we're talking! This is one of my favourite stances by far. Sure, it has the least power among all of them, but I actually don't really feel it's really that much. And the range isn't just from the blaster: the lightsaber still has a lot of reach with its basic attacks, which combined with its above-average attack speed allows for easy hit and run strategies. Especially thanks to the blaster itself, which gives you both an effective and reliable ranged option and a way to apply constant presure upon stronger enemies. And even one of its weaknesses addressed in this video, the lack of crowd control, can be solved with the different charged shots you can purchase from Caij: Ricochet shot and Explosive shots are definitely the most useful out of the three, the former for mobs and the later for bosses. -Crossguard: So when I got this stance, I knew it would be one of those "love-or-hate" stances. And I'm glad it was the former, because Crossguard is hella strong. Sure, it's slow, but it doesn't matter when most of your blows can stagger even the stronger bosses on a hit. It's Strong attack has the problem of needing a few upgrades to actually work, but once you get Greater Cleaving Swing and Reaching Cleave it's a really powerful tool in your arsenal. Plus Charged Reflection is also one of the best reflections in the game, and Impact gives you a solid ranged option. Crossguard may not shine in every situation, but when it does it shines like the Sun. And before I'm done with this, I have to add that most of each stance's weaknesses can be addressed by clever use of your force powers. Crossguard's slowness can be mitigated with Force Slam or Pull. A charged Force Lift can leave plenty of enemies open for Dancing Blades or Quick Draw. Howling Push can give you breathing room to get out of sticky situations if you have stances with poor crowd control potential. If you play smart, and use all your tools, any stance can be top tier.
I think the single will always be my favorite. It's just perfect and the balance in all areas in my opinion. The crossguard is great for power, but it's too slow and not fun to use. Now I'm experimenting with dual wield versus double
So I run Dual Wield and Crossguard. Dual Wield as you perfectly described is great with speed and with its Dancing Blades skill being a sort of auto target, it helps with AOE, its the main stance I use For the Crossguard, I think it works best for bosses, large animals and similar things. Considering their AI is much more limited in attacks as well as being slower in combat, the high damage can actually fairly quickly deal with them and quicker than if you were to use per sé dual wield simply because you often have to wait for animations of your enemies to finish before you can attack, so you're waiting the same amount of time regardless of the stance however, if using cross guard, you deal more damage, therefore reducing the amount of times your waiting on animations.
I've been using blaster and cross. Might swap out blaster with dual. Pretty nice to burn your ammo, do the range closing attack and swap to cross when in close.
I am using single and dual wield as my two stances. I have to say I miss the combo moves from Fallen Order where you could go from a single slash to a spinning double blade etc. I did notice as you get all the skill tree items he does add some new moves which are pretty cool but sucks you don't know how or why he did them.
The stances I use are duel wield with the blaster bc when you game+ you get that one perk where u do more damage but take more respectively that essentially makes everyone a 1 hit and it's amazing with the blaster omg it's SO GOOD use that perk and the blaster and u will see
For me I always use a group stance and a single boss stance. I think Dual Wield and Crossguard are great together since you can do animation cancel when switching from dual wield will attacking and press your heavy force ability and get it off fast
Single bladed is my favorite and I have it on pair with dual or crossguard. Single blade is very good because of the gap closer and aerial attack you get, its actually very fun. Like to do aerial attacks alot and then change stance to crossguard to deliver a ko hit
I think blaster stance’s damage could be the highest if you weave in some shots in between saber strikes. And then later on when you unlock a certain force ability (i dont wanna spoil) you can do some crazy damage and also deal with crowds
I use Blaster stance for general play, as it's great for picking off those annoying ranged targets, then I use Crossguard for boss fights to really chunk down the Stamina.
My favorite is cross guard and double blade. Gives me supreme power then, if needed, speed and AOE with double blade. Also, double blade is very aggressive with the spinning lunge move. And I love running around with cross guard going "CLAYMORE!"
I really like cross guard now that I’ve gotten use to it. But switching to any other stance takes a sec cause it’s so vastly different. So idk if I’ll keep it by the end. Double blade upgrades is crazy good for crowd control. So in the back of my mind I need 1 for crowd control 1 for everything else. Blast stance is just plain fun. Not a fan of dual blade or single (they’re fine just not for me). So atm rocking blaster & crossguard. Will eventually probably replace one of them with double blade
Id say its like this imo... (comment if you agree or if you disagree with which one and how/why i love discussing debating lightsaber combat forms in star wars) single blade: shi cho / niman Saber-staff: Niman (maybe soresu a bit but i doubt it) Blaster stance: makashi and blaster Dual wield: jar kai ataru, maybe shien Crossguard: djem so The only form i dont see displayed is juyo but that makes sense as most Jedi were prohibited from form seven except a select few like windu who made his own variant vaapad. But if juyo is used id say itd likely be dual wield if anything but i can almost guarantee thats more ataru styled jar kai
I love blaster plus crossguard, the blaster fits with the clone wars exile feel I got plus it breaks guards which lets me open up with the crossguard freely
i think my favourite are dual wield and double blade. i like the speed in the dual wield and the defense in the double blade. for a 3rd favourite i would go for crossguard because of the damage. 4th is blaster cuz i dont rlly use it that much and finally single cuz i basically never used it other than in the beginning. it rlly depends on who my opponents r.
If you want to feel like a powerful force user I found Crossguard + Double bladed to be the most satisfying. If I wanted to play like an aggressive offensive style blaster + dual wield works for that
It just feels odd only using one blade, when every other stance, Cal had something in both hands, or using two hands, so make the single bladed stance incorporate more force attacks in it's moveset. I understand why they made it feel so basic for the first sequel, but I think they have the room to mix it up for a third game.
Well the thing is the single is supposed to not be just basic but an all-rounder. A litteral jack of all trades where you get no bonuses but you also get no weaknesses. And even then it's very strong and gets a lot of air based tech that helps it shine and be less basic. It's a Force Attack monster when you're maxed on it
While I agree that the single blade is a bit on the too simple/bland side of things it hurts seeing people hating on it, it’s extremely versatile and can do everything well enough but it doesn’t excel anywhere either, like it’s stat card says, it’s a Jack of all trades but master of none, you can close gaps very quickly with dash strike, you jump around attacks often in this game *cough* rancor *cough* and when you’re in the air you can use hold triangle for big damage, you have a very versatile but simple throw that hits hard enough but can go through multiple targets, it has good block capabilities and can deflect more than one blaster bolt further increasing its defence capabilities, and it’s attacks aren’t too slow either but hit for good damage. I agree it’s simple and not flashy like all the other stances, but that’s its biggest flaw, because i think it’s an extremely capable and effective stance for any situation, it’s just not as cool looking as the others lol, but besides, you can pick any other stance for what you want it doing most effectively and have the single blade fill in every other capability. Don’t sleep on it, but I understand most people want to try the new stances that weren’t in the previous game
I use blaster and dual blade. The dual is great for crowd control and when you upgrade the skills it’s the best stance if you have a lot of blaster fire coming at you.
I continue to use the two Lightsabers because they are as beautiful as a dance, but I don't know if it's the easiest choice! Sometimes the single Lightsaber feels more concrete. I'll have to get the hang of it! However for this aspect the game is a hoot! You can even reset your progress and reinvest into another style! Thanks for the video!
I like the single and double blade. The other 3 are neat but you gotta invest a lot to make them good. The blaster is really cool, but u gotta really unlock a lot on it
After playing it for 20-30 hours or so, I've come to the same conclusion. Dual wield is the best with the cancel ability. If you really get used to it and focus on learning all the skills, it's unbeatable. But that's it, you have to focus on one to develop your coordination with it. A crossguard focus will be fun on my next playthrough.
I like crossblade but it's slow as hell I cant block if I do a bad time attack. So I run single and double at the moment. But I do like double blade too. The gun is handy but I'm not sure on it. Might switch it up for NG+
Don't sleep on point blank. The amount of times that skill goes off while I'm mid combo is criminally satisfying. Paired with other skills like parry push and the force push as a counter it really helps to take blaster stance's main weakness and controls things for you a little better. Point blank I do on accident all the time but take the time to use parry push and whatever the push counter is that works exactly like point blank where you counter and incoming attack.
I'm rocking blaster stance and double-blade mostly, but I absolutely love the single blade stance for how iconic it is and I will switch to that for more serious fights. But blaster is great because you can keep on the pressure and I never really feel that it's weaker because of that. I never really got the hang of dual-wielding and crossguard though :P
Surprisingly enough I like the cross guard and an old fav the double-bladed but I thought I would like duel wield but it's not doing it for me will give it another try on new game+
What I've found works most efficiently for me is a normal double blade and cross guard. Double for speed and crowd control. Cross guard for power and damage to strong single enemies. I can see the massive potential for blaster and dual wield, but that might have to wait until my second playthrough. 😂 Absolutely fantastic game! ❤
What Stances are you running?
Single
@@JC-om7nr basic
None, waiting for the game to be pirated... I meant... updated
Tried all of them but because of my reckless playstyle i found Dual Wield to be best.
Crossguard and double-bladed hands down
Single is still my favorite so far. I guess I just play better with it, I know how to combo things better.
If doesn’t have a weakness imo either. It’s very fast, defense is fine, damage is good.
Shame they didn’t rework the single blade like they did on the double wield.
For me to, the single stance is always in my left switch, the right One is the place where I shift the stances randomly
I tended to main Single stance cuz it's really easy to handle, and I'm much less likely to be punished by bosses.
single is still the best one out of all these
Its a very good stance, and rp too (In cinematic its the stance Cal use.
👍🏼
After reading the comments I don't think others have realized how absolutely broken dual weild is. Its not about damage, reach, speed, its the special 'skill' of it. You can press block at any time even during an attack. Which means you can always parry something. Dual wielding makes every boss fight easy if you know their moveset, because you can attack constantly, parry in the midst of a combo, then keep going. The only other one I would run is double edge because of its blocking ability against heavy gunners, but once I realized what dual wield does I never switched off it.
That’s literally what I also realised. Being able to cancel any attack into a parry us as absolutely necessary for bigger targets
I think single lightsaber is actually very underrated in this game. The left bumper or L1 + light attack is so good. The dash kind of tracks onto bosses even if they dash or go invisible. It's so good in the 1v1 boss fights
The blaster stance has a lot poise dmg even with the saber strikes.
And that blaster parry (Bloodborne vibes) can even block some red attacks, it's crazy.
@@dominikapera9295 which ones
@@tayvongray5387melee reds. Once I did by mistake, I started practicing on everything I could. I've been able to parry all melee non aoe red attacks so far
@@dominikapera9295and it does a shit ton of damage.
It's weird isn't it? The stats say it's a weak stance but I can wreck enemies with that stance
lol let me guess you also love the taste of semen. (Point being is your name is the understatement of the year)
That’s why I saved the double blade for my sith playthrough on New Journey+ lol. The red saber makes it look way cooler
@@FrostFire1987 it is a weak stance when compared to dual weild, even dual wield is faster than this stance and more damaging..
Equip ricochet and its amazing
Yes this is what I’m running, I’ve found it to be the most enjoyable for me
You'd be better suited using dual stance/sabers js. For better power and much better combos with added range. Crossguard for the bigger enemies.
But single looks great!
for me they go like this
1) Crossguard - longtime Souls player so this large Space Greatsword made me feel right at home. The overcharged deflect became to good for blaster defense, why bother shooting them yourself when you can bounce there own bolt back, but dozens of times stronger? Despite it's slow nature, the jump attack is actually quite fast and boosts the stances stagger potential, leading to very quick "instant air attacks" I named them (tap the jump button lightly, Cal will barely jump off the ground only a few inches, you can attack during this airborne state if your fast) and yeeting your lightsaber through 10 Stormtroopers never gets old
2) Blaster - found it best one on one when I needed a bit more speed and the range is nice. The flurry stab restore shots quickly and the overcharge shot demolishes stamina and health bars so it has some rather heafty damage to. The quickdraw is nice when used with the force to level a crowded battlefield quickly
3) Single - Very balance when I can't make up my mind. I preferred others like Crossguard or Blaster but the balance it gives is something I couldn't pass up for general exploring, especially new planets
4) Double blade - Not that it is bad, I actually do enjoy it a lot and it is always the one stance I have equipped at all times. It tended to loose it's defensive luster when the Crossguard came into the fold and the Crossguard and Blaster took over as main boss demolishers but crowd control became it's only use mid to late game
5) Dual Wield - I tried to make it work but for me, naturally favoring heavy weapons, I couldn't find my mojo with it. It just feels so....wrong to me personally
I stopped using Dual Wield altogether it doesn't click for me and I get killed in situations I survive using any other stance. I focused on Crossguard, Blaster and Single as my primary and Double Blade as crowd control.
I'm using the double blade and dual blade stances most, those really suit my plan style best and are most fun to use. 😂
I love single.
i also think the single stance normal attacks look the most graceful/beautiful/elegant
I agree with everything you said I think the single blade stance is underrated.
Agree 100%. Single blade is extremely strong. I use it as my mai with the blaster stance as secondary
100%. personally id probably say the singleblade stance comboed with the double blade stance is objectively the best combo of stances you can go with. the single blade is very good allaround against any single targets or low numbers of enemies, meanwhile the doubleblade stance offers you that aoe damage if you get overwhelmed with the singleblade stance. Theres literally no other stance combo that can provide that kind of versatility for you
IMO, in pure power it goes
1. Blaster stance- there is so much you can do with the blaster stance. It’s great in group fights, great in boss fights, there is just so much you can do with this. It has great range and has great defenses while still being able to dish out damage.
2. Double bladed- disintegrates groups, and still good in boss fights, also arguably has the best skill tree
3. Single- the most basic, but also the Jack of all trades. This is the most consistent, has cheapest moves as well. It has basically no problems
Just my thoughts on the matter
yea the upgrades are very very nice
Charge shot upgrades you can switch between!? Wait, how do you switch between them? I don't see any upgrades for charge shot aside from the one that speeds up the charge.
@Isra the black it's not in the tree, it's unlocked from the Bounty System. You can unlock different versions of the charge shot that you can switch to when selecting stances
@@stachitus Ah I see. I"m not that far yet I guess.
The very FIRST time you break enemies gaurd, you can do a "finisher" (only stance that does that)
Pretty sure dual wield can do it though I could be wrong don’t quote me
awesome breakdown. I find most often I am using blaster, doublebladed, and crossguard.
Which one do you pair with it?
What's your backup? Just unlocked the blaster on grand master difficultly.
Blaster is the best IMO because it tackles the biggest issue in the game for my playstyle which is closing the range gap. so i keep Blaster as my main and dual for dealing with single enemies or swarms. so my rank would be:
1- Blaster - good speed and great range control. lots of utility.
Yeah my favorite is so far is the single blade with the dual wield being my least favorite lol
the double bladed is much better in this game than the last.
@1:04 That pull was genius. Definitely going to try this
Ive been running the crossguard and dual saber since anything I cant easily fight with the crossguard I can overwhelm with the dual saber.
Main stance is blaster for me, it looks so cool at times. For the secondary I switch between dual and crossguard. They complement each other very well
I am running crossguard for single target and double bladed for small stuff and AoE. Although I have to say that dual wield is my favorite looking stance but for some reason I never found a rhythm for it personally.
The Blaster and Double Bladed stances are my favourite because between them you feel like you have a fully equipped tool set ready to take on anything
One of my favorite things about the double blade is the reflection potential. I love killing enemies with their own shots.
Thank you for making this. I just got the game and even though they all look cool i didn't know which one would best fit me.
Personal take (I play in grandmaster and die a lot)
My personal favorite is the Dual Wield one. I just find it cool using two lightsabers at the same time 😅
Fulfills your starkiller fantasy I take it?
@@yeetingpotato2934 sure, why not. Isn't it wrong to think so?
@@jibbersdelight1616 no no not at all
My favorite is Dual Wield + Double Blade.
I think we should have access too all stances, considering that it’s all one lightsaber
I’m doing crossgaurd, and double bladed. Crossgaurd GETS IT.
As a Souls player, through and through the cross guard is what im running.
OK, so my opinion on each stance:
-Single: If it wasn't for the fact that I used to randomly swap my stances around, or that I've been recently using the Lightsaber Stances mod (which allows you to swap them around on the fly) I wouldn't use the Single stance.
Yes I love single too, but bit more rework and more flashy combos would be nice. It feels at some points boring and not special at all.
I personally love using crossguard and double weild, they both are very different but i feel like they work well together
So I run Dual Wield and Crossguard. Dual Wield as you perfectly described is great with speed and with its Dancing Blades skill being a sort of auto target, it helps with AOE, its the main stance I use
For the Crossguard, I think it works best for bosses, large animals and similar things.
I like using double blade to overwhelm enemies and then i switch between dual weild and blaster for the other stance
(comment if you agree or if you disagree with which one and how/why i love discussing debating lightsaber combat forms in star wars)
single blade: shi cho / niman
Saber-staff: Niman (maybe soresu a bit but i doubt it)
Blaster stance: makashi and blaster
Dual wield: jar kai ataru, maybe shien
Crossguard: djem so
The only form i dont see displayed is juyo but that makes sense as most Jedi were prohibited from form seven except a select few like windu who made his own variant vaapad.
4th is blaster cuz i dont rlly use it that much and finally single cuz i basically never used it other than in the beginning. it rlly depends on who my opponents r.
everytime I try to step away from Crossguard + Double-Bladed, I find I miss both of their reflects, especially the Double-Bladed reflect
I mix double blade with blaster. I wear their guard down then rush with the double blade to deal damage and block the retreat to do more shooting.
Don’t sleep on it, but I understand most people want to try the new stances that weren’t in the previous game
single blade stance is good but i wanted to use something different since thats really all i used in fallen order
I use blaster and dual blade. The dual is great for crowd control and when you upgrade the skills it’s the best stance if you have a lot of blaster fire coming at you.
I'm fine with all the stances, but I struggled the most with Crossguard and just ended up sticking with Single most of the time. Simple yet effective
The blaster can be used to break open the places you need those roller bomb things for.
Crossguard and double blade is the goated combo
Surprisingly enough I like the cross guard and an old fav the double-bladed but I thought I would like duel wield but it's not doing it for me will give it another try on new game+
i really like blaster/double bladed duo, also you can upgrade the blaster to do significantly more dmg with perks and you can buy aoe perk from caji.
Is the saber longer in cross guard stance ? I feel like the saber gets longer in cross guard
Every time you say “exspecially” I die inside. 😅
I found that with the blaster stance, jumping around a lot can be a helpful tactic rather than dodging. 🙃😉
I recently finished the game on grandmaster jedi and i love dual wield, i think it is the best stance you can pick
