Note: This video was way longer and I went into much more detail about the abilities of each, but I didn't want a 30+ minute video so I cut it down. There are a lot of good tips people are pointing out in the comments that I didn't mention in this video. It's super interesting to see how everyone plays this game differently.
Wow I couldn't get past half way, I really tried to ignore it but the way you would constantly repeat the same thing about a stance was extremely annoying, I can't believe that you made and edited this video and didn't notice it. I think you would make 2 points per stance and which takes 10 seconds and then spent the next minute or so repeatedly saying the same thing just in different ways wow! I only lasted as long as I did because after 100+ hours with the game I thought that you would have something worth listening to but that repetition was painful to watch and listen to. Maybe I'm being harsh because I just woke up 5 mins ago?
@@danielcalabrese5769Yea so... Why would you say that? I'm assuming you're a little kid, because negative comments should just be kept to oneself. If there is nothing nice to say, then zip it. Incredibly rude. Where's YOUR awesome channel where you set everything straight? Yea. Thought so.
Someone obviously doesn't know that blaster parry let's you parry and I frame through unblockables. Also the quick draw doesn't consume ammo and is very good for bosses. Also blaster is best for single targets and bossfights because you can fire and charge while blocking and attacking, you need to get good at multitasking. Also youre supposed to use force powers to group or stun enemies with cross guard.
Single blade is in my opinion best all round weapon for everything except against ranged enemies that fire multiple shots in which case like you said you shred groups of enemies quick. Single blade is so good for crowd control because of how quick it is plus how much range you get out of it movement wise. Love it.
The cross guard stance is meant to mimic things like the Colossal swords from Elden ring and Dark Souls. Those weapons also traded speed for tremendous power. The problem here is that in those games you had armor, which gave you Poise, which allowed you to tank a hit without having your animation interrupted, which helped to make up for the lack of speed. Cal doesn't have that. The tiniest prick of damage will instantly stop any of his cross guard stance attacks, making the lack of speed much more significant and detrimental.
The devs have said that they really wanted Crossguard stance to reward proper spacing, which isn't something these games usually do. If you want to attack in neutral, you have to make sure you're spaced away from the lunge range of whoever your opponent is so that you won't be interrupted. Other than that, it's built much more for parrying and whittling down the stamina meter until you get a guard break and an opportunity for a charged force attack which does basically the same damage as 2-3 full neutral wins with other sabers lol
“You want to be dodging instead of blocking” It’s true that the stamina is lower with dual wield, but the skill ceiling for it is that there is an animation cancel for blocking on it so you can maximize dps and just watch for animations to parry while slashing. Then you don’t have to worry about the stamina
Man dude single bladed is slept on. It has so much versatility. It has the best gap closer out of all the stances, it has great mix ups, and can deal with flying enemies, groups of enemies and bosses.
You are wrong about the best gap closer. If you use double wield, throw one lightsaber and attack right after, you get the jump from the single blade skilltree. Absolutely busted
Good thing to mention, dual blades are the only stance in the game that allows you to dodge cancel mid attack. For that reason I’d put it S tier for cc and boss imo.
Yeah, dual blades is the only logical choice if you want to animation cancel. Crossguard feels very limited since some bosses can Easily start their attack after yours and still get the first hit in. Super armor and stagger in this game is horrendously designed in my opinion.
@@hubacheckahonestly cross guard is incredibly good for just bosses. Ive got a good amount of time on dual and cross. I do like the animation cancel however if you play the fight properly cross damage is much better. Im not playing on the hardest, second hardest, so i dont have experience with that but i could still imagine it be the best. I run both though. Dual for crowd.
I just beat he game on GRANDmaster in my first playthrough. I literally cannot imagine not equipping the Dual Blade for the entire game. Higher difficulties force you to attack in small openings. Being able to attack and then immediately block is vital
One thing to add to the blaster stance, is I love how it turns the actual saber attacks into rapier style pokes and lunges, which I find makes it much better in lightsaber duels than you would expect. Also find the lightsaber strikes in this stance do WAY more block damage than you would think.
Plus the blaster shots are actually useful against the lightsaber bosses, since at the very least they take a bit of the bosses stamina when they deflect them. And sometimes you can have the blaster shot tennis match - which is always fun.
You're right. It's in fact the only stance in the game to have that feature. The game even states that in the description of the stance in the stances menu. Wonder why Swany didn't mention it.
As a double enthusiast. It's still not THE weapon for groups. Its high commitment attacks and low stagger damage per attack makes it often get parried by enemies. It's circle throw abilities are so good and so fun but still you often end up trading damage to do them or it just misses.
I love the double bladed stance but where it fails at in crowd control is doing enough damage against high health enemies and fighting off flanking enemies. The lack of range makes it hard for you to pick off the stronger enemies who might be flanking or attacking at the same time as others. The animations also force you to commit, they are nearly as long as the cross guard stance making you pretty vulnerable. In lower difficulties I’m sure this is fine but on GM one animations can be the difference between dying or not so. With the single lightsaber having more ranged and slightly better power makes it so you can single out targets stronger targets more effectively.
@@sispyhus totally agree. I play on gm and I could get comparable value to the double blade out of the crossguard in groups even. Against mobs of weak enemies the aoe pull combined with the L1 + square cleave attack basically does the job - Deflecting an amplified blaster shot does a good chunk of damage and starters and destroys shields so it's good for fighting vs ranged too - it also has the benefit of being strong enough to deal with tougher enemies with less commitment. I love the double blade but it isn't the end all be all of group combat. All of the stance can succeed at every situation if you use it right I think
The best thing about a double bladed Saber was you could switch it to be a two handed single bladed one mid fight or for single opponents (yes I am also a maul fan)
This is what I love about the game, different people play the stances differently and use their ingenuity to use them at their best. I use the blaster and the double bladed throw as to not waste the force abilities (not that useful in blaster mode)
Crossguard/Blaster combo is the best setup imo. If you’re struggling to get hits in with CG, blaster has a lot of range and speed, but most of the time you’ll be fine just massacring fools with the big damage.
The double-blade is pretty good at deflecting back blaster bolts but for certain enemies, the cross-guard's charged deflect is actually better. It destroys the Droidekas's shield in one hit. If they shoot again, the charged shot takes a huge amount of their health and staggers them leaving you free to run in and finish them.
I used double blades for deflecting blaster fire, and then switched to dual wield for most melee encounters. Rayvis was kicking my ass until I switched to dual blades. The ability to cancel out of most attacks, was super helpful when I got too greedy and had to dodge quick!
I have no idea why, but I absolutely melted Rayvis by using the double bladed stance. The extra blocking combined with the fast attacks meant I could take advantage of openings and make sure I took minimal damage. Not to mention its ability to deflect all of his shots back at him instead of just a few.
rayvis was a wild boss. I run blaster/double blade and he made me run dual wield/cross guard (mainly crossguard) only for his boss fight and literally nothing else
I fought him first with blaster for the range, then in the second part of the fight I switched to double blade just for more speed and powerful strikes. The whirling strike is absolutely op, you know the one where he spins forwards with the sabre after ockingt
Here is a summary Blaster: S for mobs and B for bosses Crossguard : C for mobs and S for bosses Dual : A for mobs and A for bosses Twinblade: A for mobs and B for bosses Single : S for mobs and A for bosses
i've been playing almost exclusively with double bladed so far and it's great. i spin into everyone. often whittles down health even if their guard is still all the way up. also my fave thing to do with crowds is to force pull all of them in and then just spin around and kill them in one go.
Single blade's really underrated, it also has one ability that makes it unique from the rest, the aerial dash strike attack, on some big bosses or flying enemies you can use it to close in, add one mid air attack then air dash out or do the aerial assault to drop to the ground or to home in at a knocked down opponent below. its one of the blade stances that makes you remember that you don't necessarily have to remain grounded all the time (blaster is the other one since you could do charge shots mid-air).
I was able to cheese a surprising number of boss fights with the blaster stance: you can wear down their guard, and if you're both low on health you can finish them off from a distance without risking getting hit. I finished off Rayvis and the last Dagan fight with a blaster shot
I cheesed the entire second phase of Rayvis’s fight. I just reflected all of his blaster fire with the double-blade and ran away cause I couldn’t cope with his attacks.
Im surprised you did talk about the counter in blaster stance. The move to shoot someone at point blank range right before they hit you is extremely op. Usually one shot most enemies and on bosses it does good damage and pushes them back
@@damonedrington3453what's the point of using cross guard when the blaster stance is better at bosses and crowd control. In my opinion dual wield is the best boss killer so might as well go with that.
@@Eddie-xw8ik dual wield is definitely good, but if you’re willing to learn it the cross guard is absolutely broken against bosses. Blaster is also definitely good but only with its counter ability. Besides that the blaster doesn’t put out enough damage to make it worth it in boss fights
@@damonedrington3453 the ability to hit 3 quick swings after the counter shot plus the good damage from the counter shot is probably comparable if not stronger than a cross guard swing
I think QuickDraw is a good way to open up combat, since you can take out a few dudes before they raise their guns. And it’s pretty helpful once you take out all the ranged opponents and create some distance from the shock troopers and stuff. I enjoy blaster but crossguard is my favorite. Though double bladed has sort of been my Swiss Army knife since the hold input shreds through defense. Of course I also definitely don’t have as much experience as you, these are just what I’ve been enjoying.
@@SwanyPlaysGames not even that I feel like you weren't using it right like your trying to use quick draw when the enemies are attacking of course your going to be interrupted what I do is use any of the force attacks that stun the enemies
Crossguard makes the game very easy if you know how to time your attacks, I beat the game on grandmaster with it. Also, if you couple it with your force abilities, it can be very effective. You have to be defensive with this stance.
Single + double with "versatility" and "equilibrium" equipped is the most dynamic way to play. That's the only way I was able to get through Grandmaster (from scratch.) Everytime I changed to other stances, I discovered more of their weaknesses. M Master Single + Double as ONE stance.
I’m really hoping for a Ghost of Tsushima style of stance mechanic in the third game where you can use any of them at any given time. Absolutely hate having to switch them out at meditation points and work benches.
I honestly wish they would have used the left/right on the D-pad to let you use any of the stance. I wanted to use the blaster or double blade more often, but they just aren't better than the other stances, imo, so I rarely slotted them.
Blaster stance is definitely the best for single target because of the point blank ability which interrupts red attacks and doubles saber is definitely the best for crowd control with its force attack
Blaster/double blade has been my go to since I started playing and acquired them all and I havent changed since. I liked single and dual wield and hated crossguard
I have to say, I found dual wield is way better for blocking than you described. It has a special property where you can cancel any hit into a block, with very little delay. Because of this you can play SUPER aggressive vs bosses w/ it and still get parries off vs enemies.
Dual wield is allot better than you think. It's the only stance that you can cancel your attack in for ba parry. Can be a real lifesaver if your parry timing is on point. In fact I would argue that if your good at that the weakness to your block meter is nullified
I primarily run Dual and Blaster at the moment and i primarily use Blaster for base-level enemies, switching to Dual when i have harder one-on-one fights. One trait that you didn't mention for Dual, that I'd argue is probably THE most important thing about Dual, is the ability to hit the GUARD button to cancel most attacks and immediately guard. In fact, I'd argue that with Dual, you actually want to do less dodging (unless absolutely necessary) and more parrying, due to the aforementioned trait. Tbh, the only stance i don't enjoy using is crossguard, and knowing that I'm limited to only 2 stances kills me, cuz while i love Blaster and Dual, i also love the aesthetic and simplicity of Single and the absolute untouchability and top-tier crowd control that Double can provide for me.
You wanted to know what we think, so I'll throw in my 2 cents. 1) Saberstaff ("double-blade") is very good at crowd control. It probably should be S tier at CC. However it's quite bad at boss fights if the boss has no ranged attacks, and has a block meter. 2) I'm glad you've acknowledged the power of Single saber. It really is a good stance. It can fill in any "gaps" or deficiencies that other stances have. It also seems to be Form IV, and since Qui-Gon Jinn and Yoda are my favorite Jedi, I automatically approve of Form IV. 3) Dual Wield is absolutely the "best" all-around stance for boss fights. If you're up against single or multiple melee opponents (with no ranged enemies) it shines. Being able to animation-cancel attacks is huge; being able to dodge-cancel attacks is huge; being able to precision-release Force Parry into a stance swap during the animation is huge; Serpent's Bite (hold down attack during Uncoiled Strikes) actually deals damage through blocks and staggers, plus the combo melts bosses who can't block; breaking the boss' block meter with anything -- from a regular parry, to Force Parry, to Serpent's Bite -- allows you to seamlessly switch to Crossguard or Single Saber for a large, single follow-up "punisher" attack. Dual Wield is such a deep, rewarding style that I could write an article on it. Definitely S tier for bosses, maybe even S+. Some guy beat all bosses on Grandmaster without taking damage with DW stance. 4) Crossguard isn't quite as bad as D tier at Crowd Control. Not only is Charged Reflect awesome, but so is Shockwave and Rolling Thunder. I'd probably but it at C tier. Also, it's a perfect compliment to Dual Wield in boss fights: see above. Good video @swanyplaysgames, I can tell you put work into this. I subbed and liked. You earned it!
Finally an actual tier-list. Every other stance tier-list for this game starts out with people saying they're ranking them by effectiveness only every single one of them to put single-blade in D-tier because "It's not fun".
This might come down to play style. For all you Soul's player's out there, Cal does not have poise, which is why cross guard requires careful timing. It is very good for boss encounters, and any situation where you have a lot of enemies with melee weapons. Crossguard absolutely destroys the poise of anything it touches, so if enemies are blocking, it really helps. Double-bladed was my preference for crowds though, I felt like my defenses were just generally stronger with the double-bladed equipped.
I am glad to hear your comments about the cross guard , I was having some of the same issues you mention with regards to speed , but figured it was just my inexperience with the game . I really liked the dual blade and the animations . Have mostly been using cross guard and blaster stance , but now want to try switching it up .
Blaster stance is so broken. Using the Marksmanship and Ambidexterity perks give you a bunch of added damage, the charged blaster shot stuns just about anything, the Flying Lunge attack is a great way to deal crazy stance damage and gap close, and the blaster can help further increase your combos, is able to be charged mid attack, and can one shot a good amount of enemies. Easily my favorite stance just because of the combos, stun lock, and sheer damage from it. And combining all of that with the Fortitude perk just makes the damage outrageously high.
Dual wield is the best in single target. The insane DPS and the fact you can guard cancel all animations, paired with the Shatter perk to just melt enemy guard, makes it absolutely insane against bosses.
Single and Blaster are slept on, you basically can’t go wrong with the single it’s versatile and is a good standard for every scenario, the blaster is straight up OP. If you chain together saber hits and blaster shots you can run through all the enemies that have a high block meter and for any other enemies you can just use your charge shot to annihilate them.
I honestly think all the stances are pretty great If I had to rank them for myself and how much I used each during my play time I’d rank them as 1. Blaster Stance 2. Cross Guard Stance 3. Double Blade Stance 4. Dual Wield 5. Single Blade. I mainly used Dual Blade and Blaster during my first play through and then during my new game plus I focused on Cross Guard and Double bladed and holy ass they are amazing. Cross Guard definitely has a learning curve but the reward against enemies is worth it.
Because with the Dual Blades you can interrupt your attacks by blocking, you can get in hits against enemies in between their attacks, and parry them. It makes it hard to go back to the other stances.
An important aspect of dual wield, is that you can cancel attacks and block instantly. It's the perfect parry style and the fast attacks obliterate block bars. and then you switch to crossguard and hit them with a force attack while they are stunned.
I used the cross guard and the dual wielding stances throughout the whole game and i really enjoyed both of them at the same time, the cross guard is a bit tricky because you need to know when to attack and when to block, but once you learn that its so much fun and it deals a ton of damage without getting hit by enemies
I honestly use Single Bladed and Blaster Stance but have been tempted to use the other stances. Blaster stance is great for B1 droids and I find it the best for exploring with considering you can keep distance and the ammo regens pretty easy. Single bladed for when I have to deal with melee focused enemies and some bosses like Rayvis who can just tank blaster shots, not only that but it's the stance I use the most against blaster fire. Definitely surprised to see these two so high on this list, I knew they were good but I didn't know it was like that in relation to other stances.
I highly recommend dual sabers. Low stamina forces you to be aggressive and makes you better at combat. My endgame setup is blaster for crowd control amd dual for bossfights
I am on my first playthrough of the game, I started on Grand Master since I was comfortable on it in Fallen Order and I am having a blast with the game. My most used stances are Single Bladed and Blaster stances. I just love the Makashi (Fencing) Style sword play of Blaster, it is very quick, powerful and has an excellent gap closer. I used to run Double Bladed alongside it for crowd control but I just unlocked the ricochet shot ability which will probably open up room for single bladed. For reference I just got back to Jedha after doing Shattered Moon and Dagan's retreat.
I'm glad I'm not going crazy for thinking the Gun stance is better than I've heard others say. It really felt like such a good CC stance surprisingly. The dual wield stance also quickly became my favorite due to the innate animation canceling ability alone. It makes fighting any enemy so fun with the ability to constantly attack and then parry at a moments notice. For anyone using that stance, I HIGHLY recommend utilizing parries more than dodges and especially blocking due to the low stamina. There were many times where boss fights became almost trivial due to the ability to parry pretty much anytime even while attacking
I equipped the dual wielded blade stance and the blaster stance (+stun shot). Stun shot it great for crowd control imo and for taking a quick break mid fight to heal. What I love about the blaster stance is that the fighting style reminds be a bit of fencing which reminds me of Count Dookus fighting style. But I’m definitely gonna check out the single blade stance and gonna swap it with the dual wielded stance!

Dual wielding move cancel makes it automatically across the board S tier. Move cancel is huge if you’re playing on higher difficulty. There’s no way the footage used was in grandmaster, almost everything kills you in a couple hits in GM. Plus the split shot reflection makes it viable for killing multiple enemies with a single deflection. With purity on, it’s absolutely goated
Its very cool to see the different takes people have on the different stances. A lot of good points are being made for each of them that i never thought about. My personal go-to stance was blaster and double blade. The blaster stance actually made it a lot easier for me in boss fights. It almost instantly became my main stance once i unlocked it. Which is crazy because i have always been a double blade guy. The versatility of the blaster stance was just hard to beat. What really surprised me the most was how good it actually was with close combat. Cant wait for the next game.
Im finding my favorite combo so far is the single blade and blaster stance, because it perfectly balances long and short range, while also entirely skipping extra blade animations taking up time in combat, like spitting or joining the blade, the saber is always ready to go
Switching stances mid combo is something no one talks about. But that can make cross guard more effective. Also u can be kinda glitchy and just spam the d pad for cross guard and u can use first attack animation faster
I used single blade most of my play through because of how well rounded it was and just switched to DW when I needed quick attacks. Shakespeare did say “ A jack of all trade is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one”.
Single, dual and double is all I used really. Cross guard and blaster were really cool but too situational for me… it’s a shame because I liked cross guard as a dark souls fan. I basically played the entire game with dual lightsabers and swapped out the double and single as my secondary stance , depending on what I wanted aesthetically. Early game I used double and then later in the game I used single after fighting Vader with cere as it made me realise how much I missed the single blade. But dual blade is GOATED for me
I have basically 2 setups for this game. For my first playthrough i only used a green single saber with jedi outfit, cause i was perfectly balanced. It was great, didnt even touched other stances. On new game+ i tried a few combinations, and the final was the crossguard+double blade, crossguard for bosses and double blade for anything else. Ofc i used red color for the doubleblade.
No mention of the absolute deal breaker of crossguard for me: the stupid drop kick. I've lost track of how many times I accidentally did that and then the enemies just pummel you while you're on the ground.
Before watching the video dual wield was my clear favorite and the one I felt I could use effectively in all situations, the double blade only beats it out with reflecting the turret blasters way easier. And the crossguard being the most satisfying for me personally
Best to Worst: Single Dual Blaster Cross Double Correct me if im wrong but I've done 2 GM playthroughs and Double is rarely useful, hust as much commitment as Cross with 0 net positive on damage OR structure. Single is the most versatile abd has abilities or everything; air, gap closing, strong sweeps, overheads. Dual has animation cancelling which is life or death for parrying. Blaster is great for beast bosses especially and the quickdraw and point blank abilities are op asf once you master them.
For me: 5. Single: I like all stances, but compared to the other ones, it’s my least favourite. It’s a jack of all trades. But a master of none, in my eyes. I find that this one has the least impactful abilities in my eyes. 4. Dual wield: Really nice and fast. Cancelling your attack is great. It’s great for bosses. Good for other enemies. I prefer the stances higher up though. I defeated the Rancor with this one. 3. Crossguard: What a powerhouse. A boss fight king. I always equipped this with a boss fight, after I got it. Not amazing with group encounters though. But its one on one prowess carries it to the middle of the pack. This is probably one of the best stances without any upgrades. The cheap combo of attacking and using triangle when the enemy is exposed it lethal. 2. Double blade: Great. Probably me favourite for crowd control. This and the now obvious number one are the ones I tend to equip when free roaming. And it’s really solid in duels too. Just hold square and the attack are focused on one single target. And I once annihilated a room with the charged saber throw, which was awesome. 1. Blaster: Superb. Great for crowd control. Great for duels. It’s the Jack of all trades but with greater benefits than the single blade. You can apply pressure from range and the different charged shots are useful. I tend to stick to the standard charged shot, or sometimes ricochet. One of the reasons I like this stance a lot is the lunge attack you do whilst holding square. It costs no force and it’s so damn effective at everything. I cheesed through the spawn of Oggdo by doing charged shot, lunge, charged shot, lunge, until it died. I cannot stress enough how great that single move actually is.
Single is the best stance for bosses in my opinion. It is fast enough to get several shots in at every opening, but did enough damage so that it mattered.
Id run cross guard and double bladed stances exclusively, leaning heavier on the cross guard stance more often. When combined with your force abilities, its a beast setup. But woul fall back to double bladed if the crowd control was to heavy
Im a big fan of how all the stances fill in different niches in the combat and all excel at different things. Very well rounded, they dont step on each other's toes.
The cross-guard stance is severely overlooked in this game. If you have decent spacing, timing, and patience cross-guard is literally OP against everything. If you really want to feel like a Jedi, mastering cross-guard stance in this game is a must. I have a hard time playing any other stance because I miss the precision and deadliness of the cross-guard stance and end up going back. With groups of smaller enemies using sundering swipe will clear massive groups of enemies quickly, especially when combined with force gather (where you pull everything in front of you). You can also pick off weaker enemies from a distance with the force throw as it deals a LOT of damage, and it can also be used to pre-break guard before going in for a finishing attack. This can be immensely helpful for picking off annoying ranged units while trying to take on multiple melee mobs. Pair this with Focused Sight for even more enemy-slaying goodness. You can also basically stun-lock single enemies with the run attack, rending strike, and force attack (cleave/cleaving swing), constantly either knocking them down for free damage or straight up breaking their guard in one or two swings and then dealing massive damage. On bosses it simply deals massive damage and is the easiest way to end a boss fight quickly assuming you're willing to put in the work to learn the patterns.
The double bladed saber is the best for crowd control for me. Those hits are so satisfying when there are a lot of enemies, and you just feel so badass with all those cool animations.
This is a great tier list and consider me a new subscriber. I knew that you understood what you were talking about the second you mentioned Charged Reflection. That said as a Crossguard main, I am a bit disappointed you didn't consider force abilities. The Force is S-tier when it comes to crowd control, so weaknesses when it comes to crowd control isn't actually that bad. I think you went a bit too hard on double bladed. It definitely has better CC abilities than Dual. And like you said, double is easily as good as crossguard when it comes to destroying guards, especially with shatter. I'd honestly put it equal with Dual stances on this list in both regards (slightly above in CC, but slightly below in terms of bosses) And I like that you thought through the weaknesses of Dual and placed it in A for both. It's a really good stance, but it doesn't have the raw power against bosses that Crossguard does and its low stamina cripples it against strong and/or many ranged enemies (aka, many blaster bolts).
Wow, I found this video again and there's definitely things I left out. Namely, I think Blaster is by far the best stance in the game for a single reason: Reach. (Crossguard is probably number 2 imo also in part because of this). You can hit the first thrust from so far away that you can essentially be non-committal against almost every enemy, which is only improved in effectiveness by the blaster itself. And then you have a lunge, to close distance easily when you get too far away. The only time it doesn't work is some bosses, but even then it's decently reliable. Also, Point Blank is great, but I find Parry Push to be better. I generally find charge shots more useful than regular shots, so not holding down Y specifically to parry is foreign to me. It's definitely a strong ability though. The reason I consider crowd control to be a joke is because the force exists. For most situations that don't involve excessive blaster bolts, the force does the trick. This is why I consider the Dual Blades to be very bad at crowd control, even though they're technically pretty good at it in a melee sense. It's also why I consider Crossguard a borderline perfect crowd control weapon, as Charged Reflection is what I'd consider to be the best saber tree skill in the game. (My top 4 are probably Aerial Assault, Vortex Dive, Lunging Strike, and Charged Reflection by order of skill tree). Approaching any situation, you should always keep the force in mind for controlling your enemies. It becomes exponentially better if there's no risk of blaster bolts flying your way too.
The dual wield has a major plus that you didn’t mention, it’a the ONLY stance where you can cancel you’re own attack to immediately block. This makes its very easy on bosses to get in close and spam attacks to melt their block meter without having to worry about getting hit during an attack because you can can stop mid swing to block, then you can doge and dash away.
With blaster stance, you can actually charge the shot while you swing your lightsaber, making this stance incredible for DPS against bosses, since you can also shoot in between swings. Charge your shot while swinging, fire, and keep swinging. The shot takes maybe a second before you're able to swing again. The quick draw is very good at damaging melee enemies as they close the distance. Who needs saber parries when the point blank skill exists? It works on unblockable attacks as well, and it can also be performed with a charged shot. This is my favorite stance. It's easy to start using, but has a high skill ceiling.
Pretty much my thoughts, having 100% Fallen Order and Survivor on Jedi GM, with Sekrio as one of my favorite games ever. The single blade stance is probably the best stance if I had to pick only one to play the game with, but a bit boring at first. I would make some minor adjustments, but its more or less the same as mine. Blaster stance is around low A tier for bosses, as with the perks and combo playstyle together outdamages crossguard in small windows vs bosses, and Dual Wield stance is probably B tier vs crowds for me, too easy to get overwhelmed if you try to time dodges and blocks to deal with groups, youre pretty much doomed to just run away and heard crowds into smaller pieces, which doesnt feel fun. Double bladed is the 2nd best overall stance after Single blade, but I found its animation miss against single targets too often, feeling like I got robbed of damage during combos because of hit-boxes not being optimized enough. Cross Guard is my favorite stance, but it can feel very sluggish vs groups, like you said. Overall all stances are good, but Single Blade and possibly Blaster with the right perks are the best if you had to pick only one. Double Blade and Crossguard are a step below that, and I just cant like Dual Wield at all.
If only the single blade had a charged reflection. I love the crossgaurd and dual saber combo. I love using the single blade as well. The blaster and the dual wield maybe I’ll try later more later but I can’t get into them
I was struggling in the second phase of Rayvis, using dual and blaster stances. Then I switched to the crossguard stance-and beat him on the first try. It’s amazing how much of a difference the right stance can make! Cross guard is super fan to play, but it really sucks in crownd control even if your pacient.
Things the video is missing: 1. Effectiveness vs monsters ie big enemies. 2. Cross Guard is really good at blocking and parrying. That perk you get from fighting the Rancor (bonus stamina damage) synergizes REALLY well with this stance). From someone who combos Cross Guard with Blaster to get best of both worlds in terms of crowd control and bosses.
There's a mod on pc which allows you to keybind switch to any of the five stances at any time, massively improves the game in my opinion, that along with character customization mods, you can play as revan, obi wan, maul, and the mando guy
I'm usually between Dual-Wield/Blaster or Crossguard/Blaster. The Blaster Stance is a safe distance option and allows me to experiment with the wildly differing battle stances. If I find myself too unfamiliar with a stance, I can always rely on a safe switch to the blaster stance. As for Crossguard specifically, I'm use to slower combat, so I was able to to take it with me to the final fight with Bode, in were his speed was definitely annoying. The power more than makes up for how slow it is.
I am a year late, but im gonna say this anyway. I feel like the actual lightsaber fighting for the blaster stance is underappreciated. It's a very good fighting style for the lightsaber. At least, that's how I feel about it, personally I would put it in A tier for boss fights
I'm not sure it's true for all the Blaster Shot Types but the Ricochet will knock bosses and enemies out of their Unblockables so it's actually quite good against bosses if you can keep your ammo up.
Appreciate your videos. I just beat the game today and had to immediately start new game + for that beautiful red saber. In terms of how I played it was blaster and dual for 75% of the game if not more. I took my time and was able to upgrade all my force powers and all abilities before I branched out. Dual is insane crowd control if you just force pull them down and have perks for quick regeneration. Blaster was my go to for lots of bosses as hit and run to wear them down and the pesky jet packs. Crossguard was not good for me starting. I’ve took a step back and just messed around with weaker units and found my groove on how to beat effectively slaughter everyone. So much fun but like you said, it’s slow speed can have you surrounded and running for your life ending to switch to something else. It’s the most of the stances once upgraded along with using their abilities in a calculated manner are super efficient and fun. Dual was not just okay until I upgraded. Might be my best now in combo with the cross guard. The perk and throwing light sabers at groups and just wearing enemies down and bringing out the crossguard to hammer them together is nasty. I love all the styles so very much. Last one to play was single. I find myself just not getting the damage or elite functionality of others for my style and is just okay for me. Im definitely still learning how to best implement it which will probably have me enjoy it just as much. Still, just feels so meh after the power of my double saber and blaster. If I need to win I go with that hands down. The abilities are so effective and fun. Honestly at times I was melting bosses so fast on the first try I had to check and make sure i was on the correct difficulty lol. Only time I tired difficulty Dow. Was for the frog dumb frog thing in the droid base. 3-4 times getting him down to 15-25% health and him eating me the second I depleted my stamina/ force abilities. I just wanted to Poncho to make Cal happy 😂 Really hope a new order of night witches and Jedi becomes a new school in the shows to eventually make a big move. Asoka and mandalorians are Theo same time period. Truly hope you can either recruit or ally with both for certain worlds or events. Maybe recruit them and gain strongholds on fringe worlds by talking bases and strategic points to eventually claim the planet as your own effecting the world as a whole. If you neglect their requests or just have the empire some counter strikes to retake if you’re gone for long periods. Battlefront (old originals) had the planetary mode that allowed huge battles to either control via win and push deeper, or lose and have to fall back to safety and reform ranks. The game is damn near perfect for me (RD2, GOW, Uncharted) styles, but I really would love to have the planetary control aspect; wear a hood or masks (wearing all black with bright red hair just is better in that man in black sleek look. Also having key decisions like Mass effect that have chain reaction reactions to that world or the overall galaxy would be amazing. Even just the embrace the dark was great. The third final game would be so good allowing your decisions to make you good or bad, maybe middle of the road. Choose dark side and dominate with that power but fall out of favor with certain groups while light side comes a more harmonious environment with more Allies , but lacks the pure power and cool dark side force powers. Change character’s appearance if you keep going darker over time.
I pretty much only used blaster and double bladed for my first play through. As you mentioned blaster is great for crowd control and bosses that can fly. Double bladed just felt like I was doing great damage without sacrificing so much speed with cross guard and also has great defense. Double blade is nice when you get the split blaster perk. that's something you didn't mention but its incredibly useful.
Single , dual, and double is all I use tbh My favourite is dual for its speed. I would alternate the single and double depending on what I wanted at the time. I never really use the cross guard and blaster, I am a big dark souls fan and wanted to use the cross guard so bad but it doesn’t work in this game really… and I didn’t use the blaster pose as I wasn’t a big fan, especially for role play reasons.
I honestly enjoy the single bladed stance since I had to use it the whole time in the last game. I also feel like it’s more cinematic when you I use the single blade during boss fights
Currently working my way through the game, and so far, I've found the double-bladed lightsaber to be the best overall weapon in the game. High stamina, rapid attack sequences, auto-deflect blaster bolts, and you can cancel attacks mid-sequence by using the Dodge button if you need to emergency evade. The only flaw it has is low attack/damage power, which can be dealt with via patience. Crossguard requires way too much wind-up time for most of its attacks, Dual Blades has far too low stamina for my taste and leaves you insanely vulnerable, and Blaster/Saber combo deals even less DPS than the double-bladed saber. My alternate is the Single Saber, because it's a Jack-of-All-Trades that works well in nearly any given situation, and gives me some more power if I happen to need it.
One of my favorite details in the game is that cal switches lightsaber combat forms for example, the blaster stance, cal uses form 2 macachi for the one handed stance making use of thrusts and jabs like dooku
After beating the game twice with one of the plays being the hardest possible difficulty with perks and what not, the top 2 stances are the dual blades and the blaster they are just so quick allowing you to smack em and pull away faster then another with easier pairing potential and they are highly versatile, that being said i typically ran Dual blades and cross guard
The gun stance in my opinion is the best in style and versatility. For any Sekiro players out there, it’s like you get to be Isshin with his glock. The crowd control applications are seamless, but up close, point blank is like a parry that deals vitality damage and can go through unblockable attacks with perfect timing. The skill ceiling is very high. With stronger bosses, I found you can chain point blanks together, dealing massive damage. Not to mention the flying lunge…
I had the totally opposite experience in most of those cases. I would almost never take the double bladed lightsaber into bosses because id be locked into attack animations long after they recovered. But i think it was the best at crowd control for the reasons you said and one more thing. Its special moves cover a lot of distance so in fights with multiple big guys who you cant parry it was best to lure them into position get a hit in and push through to the other side where you can attack from the side they arent attacking and run away again. I loved the blaster for bosses because you could get in and out quickly and wear down their stamina from a distance before you parry and get the punish. But in crowds i was much easier to overwhelm. I never got the special shots tho. I think i took this one into the rancor The dual weilding was another one i loved for bosses because of its dodging strike where you can end a combo backed away and with som i frames. The crossgaurd i also didnt use until postgame because i messed around with it and it was too slow. But i mostly found its value in crowd control using the wide sweeping strike to break gaurds and kill many enemies at once or doing the same with the throw. Most bosses i remember having it for were too fast for me to find time to effectively use it. The single bladed lightsaber was my favorite for a long time because it was strong enough and fast enough to reliably parry and heavily punish. I only stopped taking it to expirement with other styles and if a boss was giving me trouble i would take that one into the fight. This is the one i took into oggdo boggdo, but the force parry made all the difference in that fight. I really like being able to respec freely in this game though, i definitely wouldnt have had any fun with the crossgaurd without the freedom to experiment. Anyway, interesting video, i like to hear other peoples experiences with the game!
I used blaster stance for the entire game once it was unlocked in the story & I found it perfect for boss fights. If the boss had a block the blaster could usually destroy the whole bar before I go in with the lightsaber for some hits. If it was a beast or no block bar scenario I could just eat away at their health from afar. The rancor was actually extremely easy once I had the blaster - only had to get in close 3 times with the lightsaber. Blaster did the rest
Crossgaurd has been my favorite stance since I unlocked it. Yes very slow, but forces me to use force powers more often and really time my attacks. Once you get used to the time it takes to do what and when to do it so it works more than not.. it's amazing. That and double blade for me lol
The hold attack of the blaster stance is actually real;ly really strong vs bosses and does a ton of stancce damage, plus dashes you onto them. Just spamming it is a solid strategy xD
I use the Crossguard stance religiously, just learn pacing, blocking, and dodging, as a Greatsword user in Elden Ring who at this point only wears armor based on appearance (beat the entire game dual wielding Ruins Greatswords with Ranni's set on) this stance is amazing for me, and it DOES have crowd control abilities, such as the wide sweep, and you have force abiliyies for an extra hit of crowd control
I basically finished the whole game with just blaster and dual wield stance on Jedi knight. With the dual sabers you can hit lightsaber bosses until their block meter is half gone, then when they go for the light attack (which they will try 2 or 3 times)you can parry the attacks which breaks their block meter and you can get a lot of hits in before they regen or roll away.
Especially with dual wielding, parrying is key, timing the whirlwind counter, ur just in their face the whole time, it’s so sick and fun. U should definitely try and record some gameplay with some good parries with it, especially because u can animation cancel with it
@@microsf121 Actually, I can back up his statement. I finished the game on GM with the majority of my hardest bosses being done with the dual wield stance. That force counter it has made those fights a ton easier, and yes, being in their face non-stop was the way to go as it kept their stance constantly breaking (especially with its force counter).
As a fellow Dual enthusiast, I see too many folks thinking it's a dodgy style, when they need to be going for those parries, given the guard cancel trait the style has.
@@microsf121 Played on Grandmaster with dual wield as my primary and double-bladed as my secondary stance. Fought all the bosses as Cal with dual wield and only switched to double-bladed to deflect blaster shots. The advantage of dual wield is you can non-stop attack and then just parry when they attempt to attack you. This allows you to do things like trap Rayvis in a corner since he doesn't have enough time to properly recover. If played correctly (i.e. parrying while attacking and also using focused parry) this is a stance that should be in S-tier for boss fights and above the crossguard option. Focused parry basically just gives you free hits since it staggers them as if you had fully drained their stamina bar, and animation canceling makes it so that you don't ever need to stop attacking unless you need to dodge an unblockable.
Imo it goes Blaster blade Duel wield Single blade Cross guard Double blade Blaster is really good for many bosses. The chip damage isnt all that but that shot repluse thing skill can cancel unlockable attacks. Plus it helps break gaurds. Alot of ppl say duel wield isn't good for crowds but i disagree largely. Attack cancelling is so useful. If youre fast enough you can be surrounded by 10+ enemies and never be touched. That same ability also makes it the best for boss battles. You can just pummel opponents and then parry or dogde and get right back into the fight. On jedi master ng+ i was able to beat dagan on my first try all three fights and didnt need a stim for any of them. In fact i don't think any enemy was able to kill me except oggdo jr and the rancor when i used the duel wield. And the ability to split shots into two lasers to hit back at ppl was extremely helpful. Single is just a multipurpose tool. It does everything decently well and lacks nothing. Crossguard is 4th only because how situational it is. When fighting more than 2 melee opponents it is pretty much trash. And if your fighting aomething that tends to hyper armer through attacks its useless. That being said its the best weapon vs tanks, droidikas, bosses and most 1v1 fights. Deflect a shot and it doubles in power really cuts enemies down. Its arguably better than the duel wield for blaster deflection. Double is fun and good crowd control for weak enemies. Thats about it tho. Sure it can reflect multiple blaster shots but when the duel wield can cut the shots in 2 and the cross guard can super charge thw shot before spiking it back, who needs the doubleblade? Awful against bosses and pretty much any tough opponent
What is your favorite Stand combination?
Do you change the Stand during a fight?
@@ZHL242 love the look but its neutral play was super boring I enjoyed it sometimes but being more active with blaster is much more fun for me
Hopefully they add a update making it more viable
Once you unlock the right stuff the crossguard is an absolute beast in boss fights. You've just gotta parry alot as opposed to dodging
It’s prime for bosses
“You want to be dodging instead of blocking”
It’s true that the stamina is lower with dual wield, but the skill ceiling for it is that there is an animation cancel for blocking on it so you can maximize dps and just watch for animations to parry while slashing. Then you don’t have to worry about the stamina
It’s 100% the best one on one weapon in the game, especially on grand master. If you master the parry timing, the dps is insane
@@k1llez4fun65Bro it’s the best stance in the game. Being able to parry whenever you want is broken af lol
You did not use the term “skill ceiling” correctly there…
Man dude single bladed is slept on.
@@sebastianlarsen5471 really? Ima have to try that thanks for the tip!
@@downfall2735 ofc bro, i was surprised too, but yeah it works, really makes an impact in boss encounters imo
@@sebastianlarsen5471 Blaster stance has the best gap closer (flying lunge). It is just insanely good.
Ever heard of the dash strike that can be used with all stances?
Good thing to mention, dual blades are the only stance in the game that allows you to dodge cancel mid attack. For that reason I’d put it S tier for cc and boss imo.
This. 100% necessary on the harder difficulties.
@@davidtodd2104 True. I'm on hard, and two blades is the way to go with occasional blade+blaster
I agree the elegance and 'skill' feeling from it puts it above most stances
its essentially Makashi just with a gun as well
That's what I'm saying
You can also shoot blaster shots in between basic melee attacks that also benefit from the blaster parry, so you can keep the offensive pressure on
Plus the blaster shots are actually useful against the lightsaber bosses, since at the very least they take a bit of the bosses stamina when they deflect them. And sometimes you can have the blaster shot tennis match - which is always fun.
Anecdotally i found the dual blades to seem to have incredible cancelling from attacking to blocking/parrying.
You're right. It's in fact the only stance in the game to have that feature. The game even states that in the description of the stance in the stances menu. Wonder why Swany didn't mention it.
Auto parry is also really effective
If you played Sekiro, dual wield is stance is all you need
@@Foxy_Lightningfr, it’s the entire reason to use the stance and the reason it’s the best for boss fights
@@donovan4222 Sekrio is a masterpiece
Single being better than double bladed at crowd control? Interesting...
Double blade is the CC for sure
The crossguard stance is my favorite. With crowds I’ve found that it does kind of lack but it’s not that bad if you use your force abilities.
This is what I love about the game, different people play the stances differently and use their ingenuity to use them at their best. I use the blaster and the double bladed throw as to not waste the force abilities (not that useful in blaster mode)
if only the poise perk was integrated into crossguard stance it could be soooo much better for cc. its still a boss fight monster tho
I love combining double with cross guard.
Crossguard/Blaster combo is the best setup imo. If you’re struggling to get hits in with CG, blaster has a lot of range and speed, but most of the time you’ll be fine just massacring fools with the big damage.
Force wrench with the cross guard cleave swing combo helped with groups a lot
The double-blade is pretty good at deflecting back blaster bolts but for certain enemies, the cross-guard's charged deflect is actually better. It destroys the Droidekas's shield in one hit. If they shoot again, the charged shot takes a huge amount of their health and staggers them leaving you free to run in and finish them.
Yeah the cross guard is more a defensive stance than offensive
I used double blades for deflecting blaster fire, and then switched to dual wield for most melee encounters. Rayvis was kicking my ass until I switched to dual blades. The ability to cancel out of most attacks, was super helpful when I got too greedy and had to dodge quick!
I think being able to cancel out of attacks is very overlooked, saved my ass too many times
I completely cheesed the Rayvis fight somehow by stunlocking him with crossgaurd
Here is a summary
Blaster: S for mobs and B for bosses
Crossguard : C for mobs and S for bosses
Dual : A for mobs and A for bosses
Twinblade: A for mobs and B for bosses
Single : S for mobs and A for bosses
The spin on the double bladed lightsaber is broken on bosses. Absolutely melts their health.
Facts!
As a double bladed weeb…I’m fine with that
i've been playing almost exclusively with double bladed so far and it's great. i spin into everyone. often whittles down health even if their guard is still all the way up. also my fave thing to do with crowds is to force pull all of them in and then just spin around and kill them in one go.
The double blade has an OP attack in both games then lol
Which Spin Attack? Vortex Dive or the Running attack?
Crossguard is FANTASTIC for crowd control, you just have to use you timing, parrying, and DODGING in-tempo.
Yeah, did he even parry a single time?
Plus learning the combos are definitely worth it, especially the impact for range.
I have found my people!
@@mr.stuffdoer8483couldn't parry a single time. It looks like some average Mario party gamer is playing and rating these stances honestly.
It’s also cool seeing it smoothly go into a cut scene without jolting into single blade
@@jameshill8493 There are some few cutscenes where he uses stances other than single-blade. Not many though.

Yh I liked to beat them up with dual sabers for the animation cancel then finish them off by unloading the blaster

Im surprised you did talk about the counter in blaster stance. The move to shoot someone at point blank range right before they hit you is extremely op. Usually one shot most enemies and on bosses it does good damage and pushes them back

And it’s pretty helpful once you take out all the ranged opponents and create some distance from the shock troopers and stuff. I enjoy blaster but crossguard is my favorite. Crossguard makes the game very easy if you know how to time your attacks, I beat the game on grandmaster with it. Also, if you couple it with your force abilities, it can be very effective. You have to be defensive with this stance.
Yeah. Some stances combo far better with force powers than others. I often swapped between crossguard to use force, and blaster to use ammo.
Single + double with "versatility" and "equilibrium" equipped is the most dynamic way to play. That's the only way I was able to get through Grandmaster (from scratch.) Everytime I changed to other stances, I discovered more of their weaknesses. M

Yes they should have let you be able to change stances on the fly like in Ghost of Tsushima
There is a mod for it on Pc
@@AdamHallDeathPunchMy main is blaster and double-bladed, lol
The single blade is the best simply because it has no downsides/weaknesses. It has an answer for every situation unlike the other stances.
Definitely the one I used the most in my first playthrough, going to try others as I'm going through my second one now
Dual is best on harder difficulty, only thing it lacks is a gap closer which can be compensation with force dash + attack
But in a game where you can have 2 at once, there’s no need to have that. Crossguard and Gun compensate almost perfectly for the other.
Dual and getting godly at parying it very fun and satisfying
So glad to see classic single blade get some love here. I always loved it the most. The heroic style. The game did it justice.
I honestly think all the stances are pretty great
If I had to rank them for myself and how much I used each during my play time I’d rank them as
1. Blaster Stance
2. Cross Guard Stance
3. Double Blade Stance
4. Dual Wield
Played my first playthrough on grandmaster and dual blades is my main stance
Dual wield is definitely the best against bosses since it allows you to attack and parry at the same time
Doubleblade is the best for bosses. No need to dodge if your enemy is stun locked until they die.

What would you recommend as the 2nd best stance to pair with it?
Single stance was the best for me the jump attack and the dash attack along with its force lung it’s just perfect
10:01 I can’t lie here… the way I beat the Rancore was just going up on that cliff and just spamming my lightsaber throws 🤣
That fight was my most retried one, I think It took my 30 tries to beat it.
@@rehakmate lol
But dual blade is GOATED for me
You can shoot on the places where the blaster stance would normally hit your enemy with his gun, allowing you to maximize dps
Best to Worst:
Single
Dual
Blaster
Cross
Double
Correct me if im wrong but I've done 2 GM playthroughs and Double is rarely useful, hust as much commitment as Cross with 0 net positive on damage OR structure. Single is the most versatile abd has abilities or everything; air, gap closing, strong sweeps, overheads. Dual has animation cancelling which is life or death for parrying. Blaster is great for beast bosses especially and the quickdraw and point blank abilities are op asf once you master them.
I Agree with this list
For me:
I’m anxious to see how the combat will be in the next game. For stances, they should do the actual 7 forms
Single is the best stance for bosses in my opinion. It is fast enough to get several shots in at every opening, but did enough damage so that it mattered.
I’m doing a pure single blade play through. I love the classic feel and the balance.
Those hits are so satisfying when there are a lot of enemies, and you just feel so badass with all those cool animations.
i love the cross guard. the ability to just huck the thing and cleave through multiple enemies multiple times in a row is very useful
I'd honestly put it equal with Dual stances on this list in both regards (slightly above in CC, but slightly below in terms of bosses)
And I like that you thought through the weaknesses of Dual and placed it in A for both.
Things the video is missing:
The power shot does too:)
I just wanted to Poncho to make Cal happy 😂
Really hope a new order of night witches and Jedi becomes a new school in the shows to eventually make a big move.
I just love how different people place these stances!
Single , dual, and double is all I use tbh
My favourite is dual for its speed.
I love the cross guard stance in this game it's just so much fun too use
I'm glad you ranked Single so high.
The Blaster and Double Bladed stances are my favourite because between them you feel like you have a fully equipped tool set ready to take on anything
You mean dual wield?
I think i took this one into the rancor
The dual weilding was another one i loved for bosses because of its dodging strike where you can end a combo backed away and with som i frames.
If the single blade was a tiny bit faster it would be God tier.
U should definitely try and record some gameplay with some good parries with it, especially because u can animation cancel with it
Play on grandmaster and get back to me.
Imo it goes
Blaster blade
Duel wield
Single blade
Cross guard
Double blade
Blaster is really good for many bosses.
