When we see, at the end of the video, after this excellent performance of these two famous baritones, people from the audience clapping softly or not clapping at all, we say to ourselves that there are swine who come to attend this concert just to show themselves and that they are not worthy of the gold that has been given to hear!
Luca is, without a doubt, one of the best bass-baritones in opera I have ever listened to. Carrying down from Paul Robeson, Norman Treigle, William Warfield, and Sam Ramey, Ildebrando d'Arcangelo, and James Morris, whom both three are still around singing today, I think Luca Pisaroni has a perfect personality and flows well with the great lyric baritone Thomas Hampson, whose daughter happens to be Mrs. Pisaroni. Tom and Luca are a team! They're like brothers.

For me Luca Pisaroni is the best 'acting' baritone in grand opera of the past 20 years. In every performance he plays his part as perfectly as he sings it, be it humour or pathos. His catalogue aria in the famous modern Salzburg hotel setting of Don Giovanni is probably the best visual version of the great aria currently available. But most importantly he can take 18th, 19th and 20th century operas and perform them in totally modern settings so convincingly that one is never distracted by the change from one's natal experience of the 1950s, 60s and 70s as the story lines and the libretti seem almost to have been written for the 21st century world. With d'Archangelo, Pisaroni is the greatest gift modern directors and producers of this wonderful art have been given. In the above concert performance with Hampson his diction is almost unbelievable. It is just a shame that Hampson cannot sing with an Italian accent. But that is a very small criticism when one realises how lucky one is to hear such a staggering performance from two such entertaining and magnificent singers.
It seems to me that Mr Hampson is somewhat better at the very fast patter than his son-in-law.
