before debut, Suga pledged he would donate food if they succeeded- because he used to go without meals. On his next birthday he donated a lot of food to an orphanage. Their charitable nature was well before AHL.

Ppl overreact abt AHL, but it was an important part of why they know the roots of hiphop well. Theres a lot of ppl who just fetishize hiphop without knowing the blck culture this happens a lot in kpop too. Hiphop isnt just a craft it was born out of the oppression black ppl faced, it arised from slavery & torture thats why using hiphop just for “being cool” is just not it. BTS learned a lot from AHL

Fun fact. Iris was who the movie sister act was based on. And ahl is a must watch. It’s part of their history and once you get past cringe of coolio and the 1st ep w the kidnapping prank. I think this show was a life changing experience for them. life lessons and after the giving back episode and helping the less fortunate and staying humble. I think that’s something thats stuck w them ever since. This show Also helped jin a lot I think. Tony’s great. He’s reacted and spoken about this experience like last yr I think on fo squads rxn channel. Ps RIP to coolio and also Jules (one of the girls that passed in a car accident due to a faulty air bag. Her dads still fighting that case I believe 😢)

Interesting facts: Aneesa (the Creator of The Rise of Bangtan) was actually 207th in line for their free concert at the Troubadour, where BTS had given as their final assignment for American Hustle Life. The cutoff was 200 people, so she just missed getting in!
She shared this on a livestream that their concert was actually announced on their social network account so many ARMYs were in line for this concert, so they really didn't need to hand out fliers on the streets to get people to go to their concert. I think the producers had them hand out fliers to broaden their comfort zone on how some artists need to hustle like that.
Also, the movie Sister Act 2 was based on the vocal teacher, Iris Stevensen’s life. (JK, V & Suga loved working with her!)
You should see the final performance they gave in the finale of "American Hustle Life" at the Troubadour in LA.

Yes, Army is still annoyed about this and consider it a dark period for BTS. At the same time, the members were excited to learn and did learn from some of the nicer instructors. But, yes, they were children, from a conservative, safe country, barely understood English, and were exposed to a lot and not always treated kindly.

What you don't see is poor Jungkook getting so shy and nervous that, at one point when one of the girls tried to talk to him, he actually ran away from her. It's such an adorable, honest, relatable moment. Every time I see it, I wish I was there for him - even if only as someone for him to hide behind.
It's ironic that now a lot of people would have that same reaction if HE spoke to them. 💜
I'm not sure if he's actually any less shy now, he's just learned to handle it a lot better.💜

I loved Iris too. And she was exactly what Tae needed, especially after the way Coolio put him down. The way she was so blown away by Tae's voice still makes me smile. And how quickly Jungkook picked up on her comments just illustrates, not only how talented he is, but how quickly he can learn and adapt. Which is a skill in itself.💜

In the episode of American Hustle Life, what is shown is more than just BTS giving meals and listening to people whose misfortunes left them in Skid Row. BTS which was poor were taught the value of common daily work. As youngsters they might not have been in touch with how hard people work for slim pay. Upon receiving their pay, they were thrilled and dreaming of how they would spend their money. It was in this context that the show took them to Skid Row and taught them about giving back. After seeing how using their money for good connected them with how fragile having a secure life is for so many BTS learned lessons about the impact of charity and not becoming too big headed which became a trademark of their personalities.

one thing I love so much about BTS is their humility. They keep their feet on the ground even to this day. They have been consistently down-to-earth when it comes to dealing with other people. They're very respectful to everyone regardless of status. They've been like that from the start and they kept it that way even when they reached this height in their career.

39:06 my heart feel so warmed that BTS still following this beautiful words said by him. BTS are at top. When they start feeling lost, for their arts and stuff, they took their step back. And the fact they was doing after releasing their successful album MOTS7 where they also talk about artist first death, burn out in Black Swan & Interlude: Shadow. BTS really love, respect and passionate about their music. When they felt it's too much, they step back. I'm so proud to fan of someone who are so passionate, hardworking and make good music with diverse music, message and Psychology refrence. BTS is something I always dream of when I don't even know what's dream.

I honestly felt the same way you did when Coolio showed up in the beginning and the way he was introducing himself to them... to this day, I still didn't like the part where he told RM that V was a disadvantage or a burden to him...there's even a part in the show where they pranked them like they were getting kidnapped which turned out that they're only going to meet their hiphop mentors, if you can only see how scared their reactions were, I still hate the part and couldn't get myself to rewatch it. Lol. and I know people are going to tell me "nah it's just tough love" or "it's just show, they needed to learn the hard way" or "they've learned a lot in the show" that I shouldn't overreact, so and so.. I mean, of course I know! and I get it, I honestly love American Hustle Life because they really learned so much from it and they had so much fun. What I'm just trying to say is that people need to learn that we all have different reactions to some parts of the show, we sometimes overreact just because we're protective of our boys and THAT'S OKAY. Our reactions and emotions are valid. So I really get your reaction to that, don't let anyone tell you how you should and should not react. 😊 Love you guys so much!!!

Thank you so much Claire!!!! 🥰❤️💜 we agree with you. Everyone is going to feel differently about these uncomfortable parts. I know they were trying to make it out to be tough love and learning the hard way, but not everyone will agree. We don’t think human trafficking is a joke so a kidnapping prank does not go well with us. The pep talk part seemed played up for ratings and it was very with the times and MTV styled. That doesn’t make it ok though and you are right that everyone can feel differently about it.

I totally agree with you. I've never believed in this kind of education. I prefer the guy that taught them beatboxing. He gave them confidence, they learned in the end and they were having fun. They were so respectful of their elders and such hard working kids, eager to succeed even then, that all of that was excessive and in bad taste 🙄. Iris was also such a sweetheart and I love watching her at their concert, cheering for them. That is a teacher, even that poor homeless person meant more for them till this day. They live by his motto. They've stayed true to themselves. And as Septa says, let's not forget it's a show. Maybe I think like this because I've had some very special mentors in my life, and I only treasure those who treated me kindly and with respect. By the way, I love Septa and Soare because they're very caring, kind and intelligent. And they know what they are talking about. 💜💜

i am glad you liked it. American hustle life is the name of the reality show. and it is kinda like a cringy show at least the first two episodes because of culio. the boys got kidnapped at first as a prank and they were so scared it was so horrible. but it got better later on. the last song was not their song it was a cover song from another artist. but house of cards is a jazz type song you might enjoy. do the live version.
they gave back to their fans before this show. chocolates and transportation cards and a personal note written by suga. it was all he could afford back then. kpop idols needs to pay back for their training and commendations witch starts 3 years before debut so it takes a long time before idols actually earn real money, they only get a small amount. Jin was the only member who had parents with money so he often gave the members food. they had a daily food budget around 7 dollars each i think it was.

What to say about AHL.... I wasn't a big fan. I saw it was mentioned before but the kidnappingprank was awfull and there were a view other rude moments. (really didn't like that V was considered as a weak link). I also didn't get why they needed to learn how to dance. I mean...they already were dancekings. But...I do think that overall the Tannies learned a lot mentally. I did like Tony, Nate, Warren G and ofcourse sweet Iris. I think Coolio ( RIP) did mean well and he was nicer later on.

i'm not a fan of first 2 episodes of "American hustle life"... but the rest were great learning experiences for them. Not just the dancing, beat boxing, singing tutors but Warren G & Tony told them to always remember to give back to the community, which imprinted in their mind & how they are always charitable till now. In Korea, they have been looked down & criticized by musicians but everyone in the trip saw their talents and hard works.
I especially love Tony! He showed a lot of love & supports to the boys after the trip, he had been sending supporting messages, backed them up when antis threw them hates and also reunioned with them few times since (Jimin's nickname "Chimchim" was given by Tony!)

Amazing reaction my friends!!....You are the right persons to make this insane reaction video and give us your opinion about this insane singer...In 2017, the music world was shocked by the bursting onto the scene of a 22-year-old singer named Dimash Kudaibergen, who performed on the famous Chinese competition show for professional singers called “The Singer”... It was just it was necessary for this young man to make his first appearance, making a cover of one of the most difficult songs in the world, a famous French composition called "S.O.S. D'un Terrien En Détresse", to be considered from that moment on as the best singer in the entire planet....No one in the musical field had ever seen a human being, being able to reach vocal ranges above 7 octaves and several semitones, that is, all 88 keys of a digital piano, which reaches a little more than 7 octaves and as if that weren't enough, sing the more than 12 languages...Since then all kinds of experts (Vocal coachs, singers, musicians, analysts, singing teachers, youtubers, reactors, etc.) have dedicated themselves to reviewing their presentations to try to understand how someone can sing this way...The incredible thing is that that presentation in China was in 2017 but what Dimash has done in these 5 years is to further improve his wide vocal range, which is currently practically above of the 8 octaves... The Covid pandemic stopped his concerts worldwide, all with tickets sold in just seconds, via the internet, but at the same time it ended up catapulting him to the top of popularity worldwide...Anyway, since I think you are one of those reactors who have not yet met this impressive singer, here is the link of that presentation in China in 2017, with the song S.O.S. and I would like you to mention my name as the person who recommended him to you...You have to be prepared because your channel will explode with an avalanche of views, comments and new subscribers....I leave you one more recent video than the others, so it does not have the same number of views as the previous ones, which have millions of views, but it is a more complete video, with an intro, subtitles in several languages and with the improved quality of audio and sound....th-cam.com/video/bDX3FhmyNac/w-d-xo.html

Aneesa was actually very generous to Coolio, in my opinion. He was horrible to them. They had been terrified the previous night, and he treated them like they were a waste of his time. I don't think he ever redeemed himself, especially for how he treated Tae. I've always felt like Big Hit or Bang PD stepped in and made the show treat the boys better, because it was a completely different show after Coolio. Ultimately, it was an overall good experience, and they learned a lot, but the kidnapping and the stuff with Coolio was unnecessary. You can be strict and teach without cruelty.
And the kidnapping was so insulting. It's like a Korean broadcast network took a racist trope and ran with it. "Ooh, those big, scary black men!" I mean, WTF? That's how you portray a community you're supposed to be emulating? I'm not talking about the boys, I'm talking about the people behind the show. The guys were wonderful!

Hi, I am back. Good reaction, ty. American Hustle life was important. I feel like they learned a lot of very valuable lessons being here. Yes, it was cringe but beneficial nonetheless. Iris by the way is the lady that inspired Sister Act! I love those movies. I plan to watch this show eventually too. Like Jin can beat box come on! That is so cool. JK got to come to USA twice once on his own. The agency really invested a lot in him and the others. They did as much as they could. Love this series. Hugs. Love u. -NY USA 2019 Army💟
First : that Iris woman who was giving them vocal lessons? Her life was the inspiration for the movie Sister Act! How cool is that?
    Jennifer Mann said on 2/18/22
They were in LA for 2 weeks filming American Hustle Life. They didn't show how the show actually began, with a kidnapping prank. All the boys were in a van and their manager went into a building to get something (he knew what was going to happen) and a bunch of men came into the van and drove BTS to a different building. Once inside they were eventually told it was all a prank. But poor J-Hope and Jungkook (who was just 16 at the time) were so scared they looked like they were on the verge of tears. After it was over Jungkook said he was worried he would never see his parents again and was worried he was going to be sold off. But imagine being in a foreign country not knowing how to speak English and something like that happening to you. Some of the members probably figured it was something related to the show, but you could tell they weren't aware what was going to happen. One of my favorite parts of American Hustle Life was seeing them on the streets of LA handing out flyers for their free concert. Trying to explain to complete strangers who they were. And then they had a mini concert at the Troubadour in LA. Who knew just over 7 years later they have 4 sold out shows at SoFi Stadium in LA. BTS story is just so inspirational, it makes you believe anything is possible.

some people may misunderstand the part where they seem to freak out or panic getting near the girls. We must understand that in their culture or in most part of Asia's in general, men have to be careful being too physically close with a woman. When they started interacting with American celebrities back in 2017, you'd see photos of them getting hugged by female artists like Taylor Swift, Camilla Cabello etc and the guys would hug back as courtesy but with "manner hands" as they call it in Korea. It's like hugging without touching the woman's skin.

I loved your reaction to the video and look forward to watching more from you guys. Also mid video -- very cute doggo lol. Stay Happy and Healthy. HuGGieS

I feel like American huatle life was a... a time. I wasn't around then but that type of reality show was super in and it was smart for them to do it for a lot of reasons. It ended up, in the end, being really great for them and their journey. Rise of bangtan does a great job at summarizing it so you don't have to watch it but you get the idea of how it ended up being a good overall experience for them.

Hey Septa and Soare! I'm sure many many ppl have already told you this, especially since this was released so long ago, but AHL is definitely worth looking into, even if it's on your own time! The boy's are taught so really good lessons despite some parts of the show being very cringe. Fair warning the first few episodes aren't good at all, at least personally for me. Once they made some mentor changes and once the Coolio bit was over it was much better. I personally hate the first few episodes because the boys really aren't treated well at all but after that, if you can get through it, the rest of the show is decent.
I just wanted to say that i've recently found your channel and have been catching up on your BTS reactions and I wanted to thank you so much for taking that step into getting to know the Bangtail boys! It means the world to me and Army that you guys take the time to really get to know them and appreciate what they do. I love how if there's something you don't like you take the time to explain why in a very nice and humbling way. I love watching you break down and discuss each video you watch. It really shows how much you care and want to share with us!
I appreciate you guys! Thank you and 💜BORAHAE 💜I PURPLE YOU 💜

AMERICAN HUSTLE LIFE is a show where BTS learned about HIPHOP deeply.

  • @MewDenise
    @MewDenise ปีที่แล้ว

Look I get it. Hip-pop was Coolio´s life. BTS has a hip-pop base in their music and he for sure wanted them to respect it. Kudos to BTS for actually trying to learn about the history of hip-pop

i totally agree with you Septa. While I understand that Coolio was probably making them aware and sort of adjust to a different culture, being that rudely cold-hearted still didn't sit right with me. I didn't like what he said about V. I'm not sure if any part of that was scripted but I just didn't like it. But generally AHL was helpful to the boys because they learned a lot from that experience.

I’m sure you know this by now, but they were not making any money yet at this point - so they barely had enough money for food themselves. They were not able yet to give anything back to charity. But they did already do what they could, when they were able to in their busy schedules. They are all giving by nature. I’m sure the experience of feeding the homeless on AHL impacted them, but it’s not what made them charitable.

Well, I did it too when I saw how disrespectful V was with his teacher, an artist with more years in the industry than him, and how many times do they have to repeat that they didn't go to play? Victimize V as if he were a baby who doesn't know what he's doing¿? I was 18 years old, enough to be a little responsible.

    • @bhavna7707
      @bhavna7707 ปีที่แล้ว

no one is victimizing V, they're right that he was a bit harsh on V . He's not arapper first of all nd kept smiling doesn't mean he is dumb tht he was only pointing him out. He wasn't disrespectful its just the cultural difference nd lang barrier, V couldn't exactly understand wt he was saying still he tried to neutralize the awkwardness. But ya u could see he should be responsible at the age on 18 nd giving stupid explanations for tht too , shows how judgmental of a person u r who must have done countless mistakes at tht age nd i couldnt even say if u have either crossed tht age bcz u dont sound like an adukt too.

The Coolio bit is really painful because they didn’t speak English, so they literally could not understand what he was asking them, which is why they did not answer his questions. I think RM didn’t answer or volunteer that the others didn’t understand because he was intimidated and trying to be respectful. Did no one tell Coolio they could not speak English and were from Korea? It honestly makes him look either stupid or just plain mean. These were kids who were very respectful to teachers by culture and were eager to learn and hard workers. It was unnecessary to be abusive to “get them to take it seriously.” Being s reality show, I’m sure it was scripted for him to be harsh, but it was stupid. This his why I hate reality shows. Manufactured drama.

Clean all the ingredients. Cut the carrot into matchsticks. Thinly slice the onion. Run the knife through the white parts of the scallions lengthwise, if thick, and then cut into about 2-inch long pieces. Remove the stems from the mushrooms, and slice into 1/4-inch thin strips. Cut the meat into thin 2-inch long strips.

DSC 0919 1024x685 - Japchae (Stir-Fried Starch Noodles with Beef and Vegetables)
In a large non-stick pan (see note 2), bring about 5 cups of water to a boil, and cook the noodles until completely translucent and soft (6 to 8 minutes). Drain in a strainer and rinse under cold running water. Drain well. Roughly cut the noodles with a pair of kitchen shears or a knife into 6 -7 inch lengths. Transfer to a large mixing bowl. Mix well with 3 tablespoons of the prepared sauce.
PicMonkey Collage - Japchae (Stir-Fried Starch Noodles with Beef and Vegetables)
Fill the same pan with 2 cups of water. When water boils, blanch the spinach only until wilted. Drain quickly and shock in cold water. Squeeze out water, run a knife through the squeezed spinach a couple of times, and lightly season with salt.
Spinach for japchae 1 - Japchae (Stir-Fried Starch Noodles with Beef and Vegetables)
Add 1/2 tablespoon of oil to the skillet, and stir fry the noodles over medium to medium high heat, stirring frequently, until translucent and a bit sticky (about 4 minutes). Transfer back to the mixing bowl.
    DSC4946 2 640x427 - Japchae (Stir-Fried Starch Noodles with Beef and Vegetables)
Add 1/2 tablespoon of oil to the pan, and stir fry the carrot over medium high heat, sprinkling with a pinch of salt. When the carrot sticks are half way cooked, about a minute, push them to one side of the pan to make room for the onion slices. Stir-fry the onion slices until translucent, sprinkling with a pinch of salt. Stir-in the scallion and cook briefly. Do not overcook. The vegetables should be crisp. Transfer to the bowl with the noodles.
DSC5095 640x427 - Japchae (Stir-Fried Starch Noodles with Beef and Vegetables)
Add the beef and mushrooms along with 2 tablespoons of the prepared sauce and cook until the meat is cooked through, 2 - 3 minutes. Transfer to the bowl with the noodles.
DSC5101 640x427 - Japchae (Stir-Fried Starch Noodles with Beef and Vegetables)
Add the spinach and the remaining sauce to the bowl with all other prepared ingredients. Toss well by hand. Adjust the seasoning to taste by adding a little more (start with 1/2 teaspoon) soy sauce and/or sugar as necessary.
