Not tryna gatekeep or hate or something, but I feel like some people, especially reactors, don't realise that Hellborns exists in this universe (mostly potrayed in Helluva and usually as overlords) and treats everyone as sinners sent there (like commenting "why did they get sent to hell?" or "cause you're already dead"). It's not that they're an idiot-some people just don't know and others could get infiruated from it. My little theory is that since Hazbin (a show full of sinners) was their first taste of this universe, they're not that used to/know that Imps and other hellborns exist, unlike how they interpret sinners-thus assuming most characters are damned souls sent there. And I also like that Imps usually have a "default" look (striped horns, black and/or white hair, yellow eyes, red skin, ect) while sinners and certain overlords/royalties have varied designs-giving them a distinguished look from each other. But this is just me and my opinion.
Fun fact: They somehow managed to get two different theater stars in this episode. Octavia’s actress played Veronica Sawyer in Heathers the Musical, while Fizzarolli’s actor was also the Broadway version of Beetlejuice.
Pilot: Blitzo destroys his phone after Stolas calls him. Episode 1: Blitzo loses his phone during a conversation with Stolas. Episode 2: Blitzo smashes his phone to bits after accepting Stolas' job. I'm calling it, it's now officially a running gag that Blitzo loses his phone during a Stolas-related segment one way or another in each episode.
"You'll Be Okay." Stolas' lullaby, if you get into the deep lore of connections to the Bible and occult books like the Ars Goetia, is extremely sad. He's basically saying, "Hell and demon-kind will all be destroyed in Armageddon, and I'm okay with that, because I know God will spare you."
It's quite possible his trust in his heavenly father (because he was probably there for the attempted overthrow of God) is misplaced. Thousands of imp children are probably exterminated every year. They're shown no mercy even though they were born in hell, punished for sins they didn't commit from the day they are born. The only thing demons like Charlie and Octavia have going for them is status, wealth, and incredible demonic powers. Without that, they're dead.
To be fair, Stolas didn't need a bodyguard. Which is part of why he was so casual about the kidnapping and murder attempts. But yeah, I had an uncomfortable moment of feeling bad for both Stolas and Octavia during their little heart to heart. Both of them suffering in their own ways. Easily my favorite episode so far.
Stolas is a good dad and really does love his daughter. It is implied that Stolas and his wife Stella are in a political/arranged marriage. If you listen to Stella yelling she is angry that Stolas slept with an imp, it's all about imps who are one of the lowest form of demon while their family are one of the most powerful families in hell. She's pissed that he dare cheat on her with someone less than her also that it could tarnish their reputation.
His marriage was a forced marriage and his wife is an awful person who obviously doesnt want to be with him and keeps being mean to him so yeah i dont blame him. The only reason she yelled at him for cheating is because it was an "embarrassment". A wound on her "pride" of having a royal, rich , powerful husband
I resent the idea of you calling him a father father's aren't there they get someone pregnant and then they leave if you're lucky Stolas is a dad and dads have my respect but he is a really shity husband XD
@@elenimauropoulou4212 That basically the gist of what I'm guessing form here. I am hoping to see Blitzo + Stolas being a thing for real after a divorce and it would be neat to see how Octiva and Luna interacts.
As someone who looks at their instagram (yes, they all have one), this side of Stolas is more shown there. I loved this episode because it shows that side of him. As for their family issues, Stolas and his wife are an arranged couple. As such, they don't really love each other as they were only married because of their status. The reason the wife is upset at Stolas is not that he cheated but that he slept with an imp aka commoner and behaves less like a person of his status. I gotta feel for the guy as he is my favorite character in Helluva Boss.
I love how in sync Blitzo and Octavia are throughout this, I can see them getting along later on, with Blitzo being like that cool uncle/second dad (because of his thing with Stolas)
Bit at 21:57 bro, you get it. As the kid who's parents stayed together "for the kids" I can only promise that was only the tip of the iceberg on the disaster.
Except that's not the case. They have an arranged marriage. I don't think she even cares if Stolas screws around. It's the fact he screwed an Imp, which she probably considers a lesser class, and the fact an imp was in her bed. Notice she got angry when he mentioned a hotel? "Like a common plebian!" She doesn't rant about betrayal. She rants about him being low class and an embarrassment.
@@RequiemPoete I’m so glad other people caught that... She’s not pissed off he cheated... She’s pissed off with who he cheated with. In the hierarchy of hell, imps are seen as a lower class by high demons and the other hellborn. It’s very subtle and if you don’t pay CLOSE attention you miss it
@@RequiemPoete also, if we go by the Caste System, it would be even worse then screwing a peasant since Merchants (which Blitzo technically is being a Merchant or Death/hired assassin) are lower on the totem pole then even peasants and servants.
The reason why it looks like they are concentrating on helluva boss is that hazbin hotel has been picked up by A24 and is being made into a full-fledged TV Show! Helluva Boss will stay indepedent on the youtube channel! :)
The thing about he’ll is that there are 2 categories of residents: 1) Natural Born Demons. They have like a species that’s similar in characteristics, take for example the Imps, they are born in hell and they can die by normal means, say gunfire like in episode one and this one as well. Stoles is also a Demon, but he’s a prince of hell so he’s super powerful. 2) Sinners: people who were once humans and upon death were sent to hell. Extremely varied in looks and types. Take Angel Dust and Vagi as examples for this. Once humans, now sinners. I think that they can only be permanently destroyed by heavenly weapons (?) and that’s why there’s an extermination every year.
When stolas went "I havent been ha-" I believe what stolas was trying to say here was "I havent been happy" And when he said "We weren't in-" He was about to say "we weren't in love" Which push me to think it was an arranged marriage
The Grimoire is just used to open portals to anywhere in the living realm, not just Earth. Yes, Stolas just opened a portal to witness the death of a star system for a lullaby. Badass.
Octavia: "I just want to go home, but home doesn't feel like home anymore, you ruined it." Stolas: "You need to understand, your mother and I- I just- I felt- She's always been- I haven't been- We weren't in- I'm sorry I-I-I don't have the words." I just felt like... damn that was both relatable to a lot of people and felt so realistic, I personally liked it when Stolas said that she needed to understand but couldn't explain what he was going to say that felt real because people in movies people always say something on the spot but here he can't think of any way of saying it, and that's what makes it so realistic.
Another interesting fact: someone on Twitter zoomed in on one of the flyers for Robo Fizz. Apparently, he dabbles in sex entertainment. The flyer shows him dangling heart shaped handcuffs and list all his 'specialities'.
@@alexwisz9527 Just looked it up. Apparently Mammon is often portrayed in text as the Demon of Greed, so he might be either another overlord that we haven’t seen yet, or one of Lucifer’s relatives. Side Note: I actually recognized that name a little from the anime Dokidoki Pretty Cure. The villains of that season represent the Seven Deadly Sins, and one of the female generals, Marmo, symbolizes Greed.
@@Cure_Hana Independent, I think since he works at the amusement park and is a robotic replica of the real Fizzorolli. The theory also thinks that Val visited the park after he broke up with Vox, again. Since the dog-fly thing Val owned/shot was seen at the end dragging Millie away.
Funny thing is how Stolas demonstrates how he was always perfectly capable of taking care of himself yet he call Blitzo just to flirt with him there but in the end forgets about him completely. That's what I call character growth.
Did anyone else noticed that the LooLoo-Hat that stolas had mimiced his expresion after Millie Kills the guys that tried to put Stolas to sleep, And then when stolas dropped it the hat was sad
Here's something interesting I just learned: Apparently, according to the Ars Goetia, a demonology from the mid-17th century, Stolas is one of the 7 Great Princes of Hell. He's said to command twenty-six legions of demons and to be a teacher of astronomy (whatever that means). He is also said to be knowledgeable about herbs, plants, and precious stones. His most common depictions are a raven or a crowned owl with long legs. Well, Vivzi definitely integrated the appearence, as well as the herbs, plants and the astronomy-parts. Considering that he's a Hellborn, I wonder how much more this Stolas and the one from the Ars Goetia have in common.
There's actually an explanation for kids in hell people like angel and Alistair are mortal souls while imps like moxie, millie and blitzo or owls like stolace's family or hellhounds like luna are beings from hell.
curious on a couple things actually, are people of other religions in this version of hell? do we know? for instance, ghengis khan, or atilla the hun? julius caesar? if we're going with the "those who have never heard of god/had an opportunity to convert, don't go to hell for not believing," thing, for this, idk if Chinggis(ghengis) ever met any christians, but i'm almost certain kublai had met some. number two, random question, can mortal souls in hell change clothing? or is that their skin?

I’m fortunate enough to have divorced parents who are actually on good terms with each other and chat normally. That’s way more uncommon than it should be
Later episodes show that Stolas tried to be a good husband but his wife hated him and belittled him even more than he disliked her. The best he could do was be a good father, and even that became less important the older his daughter got and the worse his wife got. Just like a real divorce, the children are either forgotten or they are pawns.
I noticed you wondered about the plants. In demonology, Stolas is the patron demon of herbs, plants, astronomy and astrology. So that’s why you see his house has plants everywhere and his bath in the first episode is surrounded by constellations. Great reaction btw! And I kinda want lemon Coca Cola now 😋
A lot of people, when they hear 'Adult Cartoon' they think, 'Crude language with sex, drugs, and violence.' Which, let's not kid ourselves, Helluva Boss delivers on. But it also means that there are going to be some adult situations; infidelity, separation and divorce, abandonment, a loveless marriage, etc.
it's a bit of a running joke in the community that Stolas is the only character to be censored in the entire show. This is likely for two reason - either it is a hint that he is like the only character who doesn't like swearing, saying "language!", or the fact that he is an Owl and he simply makes extremely high pitched noises when he's excited causing it to sound like beeping, either way it is funny lol.
We know that kid was gonna be a badass goth if she could fall asleep and stay asleep in literal outer space with her dad singing a rock lullaby song while the galaxy collapses
Also, this was the first time that I really felt like Stolas' new voice actor was better than the old one. This one just feels more like he can be both horrifying AND a good dad, as opposed to the other one who did a fantastic villain voice but who I'm not sure would do as well in a father role with that voice.
Coke and lemon? Not as strange as you'd think. Lime is better of course, especially with rum, but lemon will do in a pinch, and it's actually pretty tasty
In France there was a brand of coca cola zero that was lemon flavored. Didn’t last very long though.... it was good but not the best. But i do remember a brand of lollipop called Chupachoops and my favorite flavor was coca cola with lemon and it's still ongoing.
I also find it weird that Loo Loo Land was Octavia's favorite place as an innocent five year old. Her family is in the Goetia hierarchy. Surely Stolas could afford to take his family to Lu Lu World. The one owned by Lucifer himself.
I mean, Loo Loo Land is presumably owned by another overlord/royalty, Mormon the prince of greed. Mormon might have fought lawsuits from Lucifer with Fizzaroli (if he's a real person) to keep the cash-grab rip-off park going and Loo Loo land presumably seems to be more popular among the middle-class-and-under demons. Maybe Stolas liked Loo Loo land better (he's kinda like the type of royalty that enjoys blending in with civilians more-not just from his prefered "taste") or something.
I think that she preferred Loo Loo Land was because it was not owned by Lucifer. I have a feeling that Lu Lu World is more classy so Stolas wouldn't been able to relax and enjoy being with his daughter.
Also, presumably, Lu Lu World would be in Lucifer's domain, the Pride ring, which is where all the sinners are. From what we've seen, human-born demons, while less powerful, seem to be far more unpredictable and, therefore, dangerous, as opposed to the other rings with hell-born demons that seem to function more-or-less like proper societies than the dog-eat-dog world of the Pride ring. While a powerful demon like Stolas would have no difficulty holding his own against even the most powerful of the human-born demons, the same could likely not be said about his five-year-old daughter.
@@lilacpen8678 There is also a rampant angel weapon problem. Black market exorcist spears and guns are all over the place in the pride ring. Anyone, at any moment, could stab or shoot them. And they wouldn't be getting back up.
@@lilacpen8678 Good point. Sure we saw that Loo Loo land wasn't safe, but that was imps who are seen as lowly and don't have the powers that many Sinners have. So yeah it's highly likely that Lu Lu World is far more dangerous.
At the very end of Via's flashback in the circus tent, you'll see Blitzo dressed up as a clown. He apparently spent some time as a circus performer before starting his own business.
Parents stay together even if they want to part ways. This is usually a middle class thing, from my experience. Kids catch on super fast especially in teenage years. Feelsbadman though. It hurts that most kids/adults can relate to it, and Stolas is an amazing father. He fought himself about taking responsibility and throwing his wife under the bus, before finally accepting that he can't explain it and just trying to comfort his daughter.
I have a personal theory that Stolas censors himself because he's a dad, or asked someone to apply it to him when Octavia was born... after watching this episode, it seems like something he'd do...
I come from a divorced family, and unlike Stilas my dad did run away for quite some time when I was young. So the whole daughter and father moment between Stolas and Octavia hit me hard. But in the end, this episode is my favorite so far in the series.
I still remember when my parents divorced it was my dads fault its still hard some times and I'm 38 especially with moving a lot when i was younger.I love being able to relate to Octavia and being Ace as well.
There's one major thing I love about this episode. Stolas doesn't bullshit his excuses when he's talking to his daughter. Most people would say 'Oh we weren't in love' or 'Oh we grew apart'. Stolas started to say those things but stopped himself because he knew it wasn't the right thing to say to her. Instead he told her he couldn't find the words which basically means he had no excuse for what happened. And honestly, that was 20 times better than anything else he could have said to her about what was going on. Then he made sure to put to rest her fear of being left behind. He wouldn't leave his daughter behind and she just needed to know that. Their relationship will get better because he was honest about all of this. It'll just take some time.
This comment didn't age well, but to tell the truth, I feel like it's more about things being way more complicated than he can talk about it. He wants to say ''we weren't in love'' but yes they were. He begin ''Your mother always been...'' and stop because it would be a lie, she wasn't always like that. He jump about his responsibility going ''I wasn't...'' except he have done everything he could and began being unfaithful way later. It's just that it didn't work. In the end, he just can't explain it enough with words, and certainly not in the middle of a emotionally charged discussion.
I can explain this. In the actual Ars Goetia (a book which explains how to summon gnostic demons) Stolas is a prince of hell. He has the knowledge of astrology, which explains why hes able to teleport to basically anywhere in the universe. He also has the knowledge of herbs and gems. That is probably what that book is full of: teleportation rituals, meanings of herbs, and magical gems. Also probably a touch bit on biological sciences.
Feel like he just teleported into a random Galaxy. Then blew the entire goddamn thing up just to just to sing a lullaby to his daughter. that was weirdly morbid and wholesom.
Well... That's also for that reason I love watching people's reaction to the show, and red comments. That reason, you ask? I never noticed the episode ends on a topic it has started with : Via being afraid of loosing Stolas. So thanks! You pause a lot, but thanks to the people in the comment in the previous episode who said what was written on the buttons too, I see plenty of great details thanks to you all! Also, yes, I love people's reaction upon connecting with Stolas in this episode when they usually have a bad picture of him after episode one x)

Another fun fact; Stolas is actually a real -biblical- demon prince listed in the Ars Goetia. He’s a demon of wisdom pertaining to astronomy and herbology (hence why he seems to love stars and keeps many exotic plants)
@@TheLangenator He's not biblical, as you said Prince Stolas comes from _The Lesser Key of Solomon_ (specifically the _Ars Goetia_ section), a 17th century grimoire. Prince Stolas is also present in the older _De praestigiis daemonum_ (in the _Pseudomonarchia Daemonum_ appendix), a 16th century medical book which ironically says that people who believe in books like _The Lesser Key of Solomon_ are suffering from delusions. So he is non-canon to Christianity.

@@justsomechapinatophat5517 Stolas and Blizto are actually friends, just Blizto doesn't enjoy Stolas being overly flirty. Though it is pretty much one sided in a romantic or sexual relationship, with Stolas being the only one interested in it.
Octavia is closer to her father than her mother. In fact she rarely ever brings up her mother. All of Octavia's family concerns revolves around the fear of Stolas leaving her life for good. Besides their family portrait, the mother never appears in any other pictures that Octavia has. It's always been just her and her father And yes it's highly implied that Stolas and Stella have an arranged marriage and don't actually love each other though Stolas' lullaby heavily implies that he tried to love her and used to believe that love was an actual thing. Stella doesn't even give a shit that Stolas cheated on her, she's more pissed that he slept with an imp, which seem to be considered a commoner in the eyes of the royal families. Plus that Stolas and Blitzo slept on THEIR bed in THEIR royal house
People are thinking that in Stolas’ song, when he mentions “one last story to write,” it’s either in reference to the end of his work in that he could die during the story (hopefully not, cuz I love him), or another probability that it’s his willingness to stay in the failing marriage to be there for Octavia. That would imply he was never happy in his marriage, gradually grew unhappy in it, or had been having his affair with Blitzo for that long, which I find hard to believe but weirder things have happened. So it’s either in regards to a death flag for him, or his support for Via in his failing marriage.
So, the way they're doing this is, Helluva Boss is going onto TH-cam, and then Hazbin Hotel will actually be on TV (I think). Obviously, it'll be a bit more time before we get Hazbin, but it apparently got picked up by a good studio that gives a lot of creative freedom (can't remember who, but they had a short name).
I am surprised nobody notices it , very few do , loolooland is a spin off of lululand from lucypher , now the thing is lucypher' daughter is Charlie from Harbin hotel and at the lululand song from fizerali there is a line "i have a dream , i' m here to tell" singing on a piano highlighted copying/mocking Charlie' song
I don't think that was an illusion. Stolas jsut portaled them to a random star system where the star was going supernova, just to show the scenery to his daughter as he sang her to sleep. Also, you've never tried putting lemon juice in coke? It's pretty tasty. I'm serious, it doesn't make it super sour, it just gives it more flavor.

6:16 something that took multiple watches to finally get, is Stolas’ wife’s yelling. Even though she is angry at him for sleeping with somebody it seems to be, more that he slept with an Imp, then it is that he cheated on her. In fact she seems to be even more upset at the idea is that he would’ve done it in a motel room.
One thing I love about Helluva Boss is that the characters unintentionally speak directly to the viewers. Like when they make commentaries about things like corporate shame and how shady some theme parks really are or even about certain other things I just love how they make commentaries like that as if they're talking to people calling them out.
The same book but I think it serves more than simple transporting purposes. Stolas is the Goetic Demon of Magic, Geology, Astrology, and Botanics. The space used for Olivia was likely just one made manifest. That or Stolas just caused a universal collapse of a parallel universe but I don't think that's in his jurisdiction to do so. Fun Trivia: Knowing that Stolas is the Goetic demon of those factors it makes a lot of sense pertaining to his aesthetic and hobbies. Has a bunch of plants, space, and even in the end you see he turns the imp to stone as a nod to geology.
Genuinely don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing... like I’m more a fan with the idea of people where we’re just pieces of shit in life wanting to find redemption because THEY want redemption because they recognized that they f-ed up and want to change. And I feel like showing us all the pain and suffering they went through before they show a willingness to change and redeem themselves is minimizing their sins so to speak.
@@wiseguy1512 I think it's to make them relatable (fathers in estranged relationships can relate to Stolas' struggle and people with a rough life can relate to Angel's if they went down that route) and make us feel happier for them when they do decide to try and redeem themselves
I mean, beside of the "relatability" theme, they both kinda shows a type of "redemption ark" for two of the least "redeemable" characters of the series (Angel and Stolas were only potrayed as "sex-joke riddled comedic relief" characters before the release of "Addict" and "Loo Loo Land" respectively). Since then, people finally see past through them-seeing the real struggle in their lives (and somehow not used to "justify" their behaviour/action-which is good, I guess?). Idk why, I just love how this series way of showing more dimension to the characters even if it's not "direct" or "rushed". But this is just me.
You're the first reactor that actually brought up the fact that Stolas just casually watched a solar system implode. At first I thought he caused that to happen himself, but people have been saying that that solar system was going to explode anyways. Another thing is, none of the reactors i've seen have even mentioned the cheeky self-reference they put in the 'Loo Loo Land' theme
comapared to most people's reaction-styles, i like yours the most because you are not afraid to speak your mind and pause the video or rewind to comment or explain something that you noticed, while at the same time long lingering on a particular scene for too long. P.S. I think Stolus only swore once in the whole episode, when he was about to call for bodyguards. (Blitzo)
If I remember the reason Stolas has the book for him to do his job as mentioned in the first episode, is because he is the demon of astronomy, that is if I remember correctly like I said...
Stolas is legitimately a good father, which is why I love him. I especially love when he admits "I'm sorry, I don't have the words". Admitting that he doesn't know how to properly articulate what's going on and how sorry he is scores big points with me. He's admitting that he's not perfect, and I vastly prefer that to him trying to fake bravado his way through it.
It's impleid that stolas and his wife was arrange marriage but it's also impleid in his song that he tried to love her but she only cared about her status. When she's yelling at him it was all about that fact that it was an imp he slept with not cheating on her but with sleeping with the lowest ranked demon in hell. Octava only feared losing her dad not her mom cuz her dad gave her a good happy childhood her mom was just there (this ep was really relateble, I was octava Sept my situation was worse were I had to be moved in to my grandmother's care) but fantastic episode 💚
That wasn't an illusion I think. But what was happening was that the star was dying. The first sign is when the star changes from yellow (like our Sun) to that color (like blue or violet). The second phase is when the star starts getting bigger, thus swallowing any near by rocks or planets until it blows up. At least that is what I remember learning
Fun fact: Most of the Hazbin hotel and Helluva boss characters have Instagram accounts and Stolas and Octavia both posted pictures from the weird taxidermy place.
fun fact Stolas in mythology is a lord of hell who commands 26 legions of demons and he teaches astonomy and history he often changes history for amusement or for personal gain
In the beginning, Stolas likely teleported to a dying solar system. IRL demonology says that Stolas taught humans astrology, so him keeping track /having knowledge of important astrology related events (such as the death of star in a solar system) that have yet to happen makes sense.

"This has to be a flashback before things got horrible?"
Yep, it was.
Stolas isn’t a good husband, but he IS a good father.

And this is worse because I bet they are only together for the power and money

The thing about he’ll is that there are 2 categories of residents:
1) Natural Born Demons.
This episode, in one opening segment, turned Stolas from the owl sex-fiend to the best father in Hell. And that is cool.
Here's something interesting I just learned:
Apparently, according to the Ars Goetia, a demonology from the mid-17th century, Stolas is one of the 7 Great Princes of Hell.

Octavia and Stolas episode so good and man the father/daughter dynamic never gets old.

*Blitz-o-:* "Hey hey hey. The 'o' is silent."
Stolas in this episode can be summed up in three words.
"Dad mode: activated!"
"Bird Loona"

"BIRD LOONA."
@@maxentirunos and THIS comment didn’t age well 😂
I can explain this.

Octavia is closer to her father than her mother. In fact she rarely ever brings up her mother. All of Octavia's family concerns revolves around the fear of Stolas leaving her life for good. Besides their family portrait, the mother never appears in any other pictures that Octavia has. It's always been just her and her father
And yes it's highly implied that Stolas and Stella have an arranged marriage and don't actually love each other though Stolas' lullaby heavily implies that he tried to love her and used to believe that love was an actual thing.

Fizzarolli is voiced by Alex Brightman, who played Beetlejuice in " Beetlejuice: The Musical".
I’d say Stolas’ song has more of a David Bowie vibe
It does
That wasn't an illusion I think.
Actually coke with some lemon juice isn't that bad ( it's really good)
fun fact Stolas in mythology is a lord of hell who commands 26 legions of demons and he teaches astonomy and history he often changes history for amusement or for personal gain
I believe it's Orange Coke Zero (or hells version atleast) at 8:09
In the beginning, Stolas likely teleported to a dying solar system. IRL demonology says that Stolas taught humans astrology, so him keeping track /having knowledge of important astrology related events (such as the death of star in a solar system) that have yet to happen makes sense.
Given that Octavia is an owl, I can only guess 'weird taxidermy' would be like the equivalent of weird cheese sandwich sculptures or something
So what I’m gathering is that the robot clown is a robotic version of a clown demon named Fizzaroli who exists in Hell.
I actually think that’s orange Coca-Cola which is actually a real thing look it up.
thank goodness i'm not the only one sees that as an orange.
yes. It's called fanta.
There are multiple branches of cola orange in my country
Yeah bro my parents recently got divorced recently it’s hard man I’m 15 and I’m having a difficult time but this episode kinda helped me feel better thank you for reacting to it
you should watch every thing that Brandon Rogers is involved
Great that the clown was played by the guy who played beatlejuice
