This is what Bulova should be doing with their quartz movements. Imagine this with a smooth sweep. It’s already gorgeous. Rant over. This is just great looking!
That's a retro stunner. My grandma had a late-40s mantle clock with similar dial with less colour of course. Nice to see a watch like this. Good luck to the brand.
Dial is 50's retro alarm clock from Smiths ! Intriguing design, pin-hole date window is a challenge for the myopic like me.I have a couple of explorer style set anf forget quartz, sometimes it's just great to push in the crown and go - no faffing with winding or the Seiko wrist-job. I'll be interested in their improved Mk II and the next model they make.
I jumped on the pre-order (also green dial) which I happily received 2 days ago. I own numerous automatics and dive watches, so felt I could find a home in my collection for this quartz with its retro-styling and points of difference. I wore it last night to a dinner party and its slim profile fit comfortably under my buttoned shirt sleeve. I’m not fussed on checking the date from this watch and am glad it’s inclusion doesn’t deter from the overall look. I now have a watch to reliably confirm the day of the week…could be handy in case my faculties diminish as I age! 😊
3rd release?! I like the way you are bringing these out quickly and not mucking about with releasing one, then the same one with a mineral dial. Just release the whole range then release the next watch with its full range!
It’s clean, very good looking, has perfect dimensions, probably is extremely comfortable on the wrist and quartz is the perfect engine for a watch one may not wear on a daily basis. I love it.
I'm very careful about hand/dial contrast after waiting many months for my Formex Essence original kickstarter model to be instantly disappointed with my choice and flipped it in days.
Wow! If only I'd known. It's a looker for sure and I love that the second hand hits the markers so consistently. Give it a bit more lume and I'll be pulling the trigger! Cheers!
It kind of reminds me of a few models from the Timex Waterbury Traditional range. I almost bought an automatic version of it a few times but I just know that I more like the idea of having one in my collection than I'd actually wear one so I always stop myself from buying it 😅
I feel like it's going to be a field watch given that he's already done a diver and now a gada/sports dress watch plus the fact that he's a fan of field watches. I must say personally field watches are by far my least favorite type of watch and I will probably never own one so I'm not super hyped feeling like that will be the next watch but I'm sure Jody will put a nice little spin on it, and hey....maybe it will be my first (and only) field watch.

Jody, would you consider doing a quartz watch, or is there not enough demand? The Erebus Ascent is one of the most beautiful watches I’ve ever seen, at any price, but I probably wouldn’t wear it because of the size and weight inherent in a mechanical watch. Granted, the Ascent isn’t aggressively large and heavy, but I’ve found that I prefer that extra bit of slimness and lightness of a quartz watch for a daily. Of course the accuracy and set-and-forget nature of quartz is also appealing. Are there other people out there who feel the same way?
I like the dimensions. I think a black dial with a larger date wheel would improve the watch a lot. I am not sure if they will ship to the USA. Shipping from Aussi to the USA is expensive.
They supposedly do. However I haven't heard anything about them shipping ANY watches but obviously the Aussies got their watches. No word or sign of mine here in the US.
I have a Citizen with a date that small. I dont bother setting it as I would have to take a photo on my phone then zoom in to read it which is pointless as I get the date on my phone display before unlocking it.
Hmmm - its OK - I reckon it needs a domed sapphire or even better an acrylic crystal for this style. And that Ronda movement isn't exactly premium either - it cost me £5.95 at full retail price here in the UK to repair one of mine - about as cheap and basic as it gets,
I brought the Burgundy. Reason it might look good with a brown jacket. Not arrived yet to me in the UK . It was a "punt" . I hope to love it when it arrives and if not it did not cost a bundle .Amended 14th May 2024 . Mine arrived today 133GBP + postage so no taxes . Overall I am pleased . It has something of an old Oris about it with the concentric outer ring pattern. The lume is noticeable when I leave my light filled room and walk down the dull corridor. It is attractive and legible. It is certainly light . Strap good. Finish good. The day looks nice . Moans and niggles? I agree the date is so small as to be unreadable . I wonder if the colours should be bolder ( I have Burgundy. ) . Conclusions: I have lots ion watches that look similar. This is different to anything I have. Clean simple but with enough interest in the form and dial to be interesting. A GADA watch? maybe. Reply
Looks great. I have a SWC Ark which is remarkably similar in spec and price but obvious a different look. If I didn’t I’d certainly be looking very closely at this.
What a cracking watch. Although I am a bit irked by the quartz movement as it makes it cheapens the perceived quality somewhat. I would have preferred a mecaquartz even if it meant sacrificing the day complication. I absolutely love that dial, minimal printing just the way I like it, but somehow maintaining a lot of character without sacrificing utility.
I saw this and thought it would fail too. It’s plain and boring. People are buying specs rather than design these days. These are the type of watches that get flipped because people realise it doesn’t matter how good specs are when it’s this boring to look at.
This watch is a winner! Winner winner winner! 🏆 Big lover of art deco and vintage styling here, and this line is giving off great deco-steampunk vibes. Very very sweet. 👍🏼 Moans and niggles though: If quartz is what defines you, how about not using the basic 32,768Hz frequency. Much love for Ronda movements and all, but Bulova stamps 262kHz on their recent Precisionist dials (though all Precisionist movements operate at that frequency). And, well, in a wrist showdown that's no contest. That said, I have a bunch of Casios that keep more-accurate time than most of my Precisionist watches, go figure. Next: is Hz embracing the 1-tick-per-second aspect of quartz watches? Cuz that's my main gripe about analog quartz appearance. If this watch had the same sweep as a Precisionist, my order would be in. At least go with meca-quartz would be my request. I have and love many 1tick/sec analog quartz watches. But I still wish that every one of them swept like a Precisionist. I know; battery life yada yada. I don't care about batteries, I care about sweep, yo! 🧹
For that amount of money it seems like they could have put in one of those fast sweeping seconds quartz movements. Nice watch but too expensive in my opinion.🤔
Amazing watch for that money. How can a new micro brand put out a watch with decent specs including titanium that is finished better than what I see from big brands like Citizen and just looks so right in that design for such little money. I would love to see them do a version of this design with a mechanical (Miyota 9000 series to keep it thin)
Good looking watch, usually not fan of anything smaller than 42mm but this one is beautiful! 🤩 Thanks for a great content, please do your watch in 42mm better in45mm … thanks
"You may have to adjust the day and date occasionally..." 'Date' I get, but 'day'? Do you occasionally skip or throw in additional days of the week in Australia?
I really like that caseback. You wouldn't expect it at this pricepoint. Also the secondshand hitting every marker. An that finish of a titanium case. Makes you wonder why other brands can't do this while charging a lot more
Day dates are a must for me… my first automatic had it, and now a watch feels incomplete without both. I like the symmetry… make it an auto and put a bracelet on it and I’d definitely be KEEN…
This looks so much like a Timex Waterbury with sector dial. Same complications, though on Timex it's a standard 3 o'clock position. This one's made of titanium and has sapphire glass, which is a bonus, sure, but the Timex costs way less.
I like it,,,, the center needs a little tiny AC/DC album going around as the second hand,,, Lol,,, I've got a small lot of quartz watches,,, wear them off n on,,, hard to take my Islander n Erebus off
There’s a good reason why they sold out. I imagine there might be a Quartz Erebus in the future. Perhaps a solar Chrono... Thanks for the great follow up! Just got done watching you on Scottish Watch Channel and almost spit out my drink when you said you’re possibly planning on releasing four watches a year! I can’t promise I will (can) buy all of them, but I look forward to them!
As someone who wears a titanium watch as a daily I like this, but even at the lowish price, better lume would be good & I'd much prefer a coloured dial. Imagine a decent green enamel or simple subtle sunburst dial. I think it would look better and the legibility would improve off the scale.
A$350 is the right price if you can get a Jet Star HAQ for the same price. Some brands should go for more volume than niche but sounds like they've done well!
I agree, it's a simple, but nicely designed watch with decent specs and no real weaknesses than cannot be looked past for the price. Nice to see the second hand hit the markers and I hope it's not just the luck of the draw. Nice offering and the success is well deserved.
Love the philosophy of the brand, but I'm a bit disconnected from how the features are laid out and the dial design. I think this kind of brand can afford to be a bit more playful, so I'd recommend for a future more 'contemporary' effort: To have the logo at 10 o'clock or somewhere less obvious (thinking along the line of Doxa's positioning); integrate the complication features in a more seemless way that plays with the colours (e.g matching colour date wheel with the dial, position it right next to the day; maybe a TV/box presentation rather than clashing circle shapes, and obviously size it more legibly); and having the 'centre' dial be provide more colour (I think a silver centre dial mutes the feel of the watch as it clashes/matches the tiatanium case colour). I also don't think arabic numerals are necessary - I wonder what styles of indices they could come up with that represent the retro-digital vibe they're going for - it'd certainly add more playfulness and make me want to look at the dial a lot longer than this first model. Keen to see what comes from them next :)

kind of wish that more microbrands would use solar quartz movement. Ronda makes some. I wonder why they don't.
The V2 just released has a Ronda. Not sure is a solar though.
Not too shabby at all. It reminds me of a Mini Cooper S dashboard dial ,in british racing Green .
Swiss Quartz, Titanium, 38 x 10 x 45 mm. Nice Art-Deco dial. Good specifications & size.
Do they make sure the second hand hits the marks on all their watches, like the one you got? Yes that’s important! 😊
I only have one Casio G-Shock. But I still love Watching all your videos.

love that "Hellooooooooooo" on the paper
They can make a non-quartz watch. They would just need to put 3Hz or 4Hz on the dial. I'm hoping mine arrives soon!

Nice, but looking at the dial, it's a bit bare to me. But overall, it's a clean design and I like the minute and hour hands shape.
As a retired electromechanical engineer….I can say that logo on the back is perfection. Well thought out and well done! Nice daily.❤

Yes! We need more better quality quartz watches - sapphire & interesting case.
So it's a tuxedo dial. Nice but a bit too niche for me.
Yep, fix the date to be visible and I'll be there for the next pre-order!
