So happy to hear I’m not the only hater of Richard Mille. Saw one on Martin Brundle’s wrist on the British Grand Prix the other week and whatever the male equivalent is to the phrase “Mutton dressed as lamb”is, is probably the most apt way to describe him wearing it. They look ridiculous.
Excellent stuff Jody. Yes yes and kin’el erm yes. Thing that gets me is that some cost way too much and others seem to have no ceiling at all… hmmm not enough add two zero’s. Do feel sorry for all those who bought a Bremont just before they re-branded too.
The popular claim that Tag watches are double the price of watches of a similar or better quality requires further justification. Excluding microbrands, who sells watches with comparable finishing and design at 50% of their various price points, outside of their gimmicky ltd eds aimed at the mass market and some quartz models? My Tag Carrera 36mm with rose gold plated hands and indices retails for 4600 AUD. Most people who see it assume it is a 5k+ (AUD) watch. I have not seen any watches that look as good for three quarters of the price let alone half in a _comparable_ style. And I own watches at similar price points from other entry level luxury watch brands too, so if there was a big difference, I wouldn't have pulled the trigger. Granted, the movement is nothing special, but the same applies to Longines and other brands on that level. You are paying more for the design/style of the watch, and it's not hard to buy one for 15-20% off. Tag hate is mostly an Anglosphere thing. You don't hear much negativity about the brand in Europe or Asia.
Great video, I'm so happy to see that none of the brands that I wear is not on this dark list. My casio mudmaster was so happy, is not the ugliest one, compared to the Invicta and the others. I mostly use quartz watches, I like citizen eco-drive and casio watches. I still have a vintage citizen chronomaster from my grandfather, and some models from orient. I never considered other brands. My only Hamilton one was serviced after a pool dive. Since then it's in a box. At this moment I don't want to use mechanical watches.
Yeah sure , market a basic Citizen Eco-Drive movement in a Titanium dive watch that doesn’t even have a lume pip, and asks a princely sum for it. (SolarGraph) That’s the way. Watch companies that can’t be honest don’t get my respect. Still waiting for someone to open up theirs and marvel at the tiny mass made module.
HI there. I bought my first "fancy" watch 10 years ago. It was an Invicta Diver. After 2 days it was already behind by 5 minutes. I returned it to Amazon and bought a Stuhrling which is still going strong. Thank you I like your channel.
Swatch, invicta, timex, Hublot, DW, and sadly Seiko because they raised their prices and took away there real dive watch,,,, ps Rolex and there sales tactics are almost on my list ✌️😎

Thanks for another fun video! I'm interested to know what you were wearing in this video. I couldn't quite make it out. Looks like a nice field watch, which is right up my alley.
Hey Jody, great subject for this video and I had to give you my two cents. In regards to Invicta, all your gripes are bang on, the myriads of awful watch designs and the ridiculous MSRP"s are valid criticisms but like yourself I have found amongst the literally thousands of Invicta's I've looked at a few that led me to actually pull the trigger. The first one that I bought was a second hand Russian Diver 1959 limited edition 50th anniversary No.1798. I paid about $135 USD for it, probably a little more than I should have however I wanted it. The second Invicta I got was a gift from my boss, another Russian Diver 1959 in Titanium (2009) No. 21678 which my boss gave me when I complemented him about it. Even though it's massive, because the case in in Titanium it's relatively light to wear. The third Invicta I've obtained I got from Jomashop for $65 which for me was a no brainer. This was the Invicta Pro-Diver Ocean Master Chronograph which my boss also has and he always trust me to replace his batteries on his watches for him. Since I had worked on it, I was impressed with the build quality. He did have an issue with the wrist band and I gave him a Black NATO Zulu band and he loved it and now I want to do the same. Even with the grippes we have with Invicta, I like that they make big watches because I have an 8 inch wrist. I'm from Canada but have lived in Roatan, Honduras for the last 12 years and I can tell you that Central Americans love Invicta in all the models Gaudy variety, it's incredible but they love them. Tag Heuer has an impressive back catalog and I would suggest they look back at what they used to be because what they are now is less than impressive. Richard Mille well bat shit crazy prices and if you like that sort of thing there are many homages on AliExpress starting at $15 to a couple of hundred dollars which will be as impressively gaudy but won't bankrupt you. Fillipo Loretti I almost fell for one of their watches but that little voice inside me said no especially after my experience with another similar brand called Stührling who's designs are great but the build quality feels really, really cheap. Bremont I'm not familiar with so I'll abstain from commenting there. Hublot although they have great build quality suffers from Invicta/Richard Mille design malady but you can find a decent one once in a while. Daniel Wellington I didn't know existed until you mentioned it so ... Cheers Jody!
As ever, Jodie, you are spot on. I wonder how many of the F1 drivers who are contractually obliged to wear RM hate them as well. Wearing a Hublot or RM is basically saying, " looking at much money i have, and how little taste"
There’s actually a somewhat OK looking Invicta Tank (model 46857 in black on a strap). Looks reasonably tasteful, Romans at the 3 and 9, small seconds at the 6, and a 24 hour complication at the 12. Described as 30mm, it’s slightly chunky looking for a Tank, but down right svelte for an Invicta. I’d be tempted to pick one up but it’s only 80% off. As a 35 dollar budget watch, could do a lot worse.
That's the thing with them. They have really nice models as well as the brutish nightmares. They kinda have a style for everyone which is what Jody very lightly notices.
This is so funny 😅 I too despise Invicta's monsterous models, but guess what I bought last week? An Invicta 1963 in all black. Looks really great. According to Invicta the price should have been $795, but guess what: paying $99 was ok too. 😂
Been watching your videos for a while now and was inspired to start a collection. Started with the MaMaCoo , its specs for price and clean looks, now am looking for a dress watch to add.
I had a DW and while all you said is true, it was still a light, thin watch that reliably told the time. Which is more than I can say about the previous watch, a Junkers automatic with a miyota movement.
My father has the Filippo Loreti moonphase you shown but in gold and blue, and I’ll be honest, I was very impressed with fit n finish. Reminded me of Shinola. Wore it for a month or so and I genuinely loved it. On the contrary, I bought a Timex on a whim at Wally World and the date complication broke first time setting it. Loreti is still going years later.
Can also say this too. Unfortunately, the brand seems to have gone down to homage route a bit more lately. Every once in a blue moon, you do get a good release. As far as I could tell, they’ve been going all-in on their Ascari collection.
Geez mate you were hitting me hard with the first two!🤬🤣 I love my constantly on sale $90 Invicta subs! Fantastic at that price point.👍🏼 Then Tag Heuer. Oh come on!😱 I bought a 2000 Series some 20 years ago & it’s still a great wear. I bought a mechanical Carrera last year & again a beautiful watch. Then recently a vintage F1 straight after the launch of that “Kith my arseth!” 🤪😂 Yeah the rest bin ‘em!👏🏼
Totally agree with this, tho if you can get the invicta pro divers for around £60 i think overall the quality is worth it, obviously ali express has better watches for less but if you dont want to order overseas then i think this a solid choice for that price range.
I have a Bremont descent 2 super marine - diver GMT. I like it very much - saddened by the recent change in direction they have taken. The perfect vacay watch IMO.
@@orangeyellow-me1pz I have one, a 4-gen one I got secondhand for dirt cheap, it's ok, I use it when exercising. When it dies I probably get a Solar Casio
Dude, don't pay attention to the people here and buy what you like. Most people aren't like the ones here. They all enjoy the Submariner design while I find it played out and don't want one. Point is, buy what you like because you only live once.
Agree wholeheartedly with this list. I've never owned an Invicta, however, I have endured the utterly horrible experience of dealing with their customer service after having issues with a couple of Glycines (which are owned by Invicta). It was probably the most inept snd pathetic customer service I've encountered from ANY company, watch or otherwise.
Really loved that one, please let Dark Jody come out from time to time (at new moon or something 😂). I would add Audemars Piguet for the way they treat people who want to buy their watches, for their cynism (they could increase production easily, instead they raised prices), their AD are nothing short of obnoxious (no exception, I travel a lot) - I still love the Royal Oak but hate what they have done with this immense heritage. For Richard Mille I am a bit mixed. The man himself is sincere and his work is horologically very impressive. I am happy that there is space for people who make things crazily different. The difference with for example MB&F (as crazy, as expensive, as “in your face” in terms of design) is that the bling crowd has decided that RM was cool. For me RM is a victim of having many hatable fans (and don’t forget, there are much more fake RMs than genuine ones). But the firm, the man, and the watches are for me respectable - they have identity, technical innovation, and integrity. Not saying I would buy one if I could afford, but i know genuine enthusiasts of taste who love them. Just my thoughts :)
Great stuff mate, almost journalism. Not enough trenchent criticism in the review community. Tag are doing alot right (carrera, F1, MOP Solar!) as well as....at least they're in the conversation
My wife & I had 4 original Tag Heuer F1 quartz watches between us (2 metal bodied, 2 plastic). 3 of the 4 died & replacement plastic straps & bezels were not available to purchase. Not a great experience.
They make a lot of good watches. They just make watches for everyone if you ask me. A hack I've found is to look for watches under the, "Women's", category. You'll find their smaller watches there.
@@orangeyellow-me1pz agree. Invicta Stores site definitely has something for everyone. I was really surprised to see how many "normal" sizes there are. Prior to looking and purchasing one all I kept seeing on TH-cam channels was " Invicta make great big ugly monstrosities, except for the Sub homage Pro Diver ". It's just BS. There's plenty of smaller offerings.
According to Morgan Stanley TAG makes 390,000 watches pa, divided into the annual F1 sponsorship contract $150m = $385 per watch - just in F1 race sponsorship, never mind team sponsorship, and before the additional costs for advertising paraphernalia (billboards, signage, clocks, other promotional guff, staff, etc, etc.) 🤔
I don't have the model number but it's one of their ghost bridge watches. It's a ghost bridge *man of war* but be warned, it's a big one. I think it's 47 mm but might wear even larger. That bridge is a Chinese movement. I haven't seen it in other watches so it might be a custom movement of theirs. When they were in production a couple years ago there was a Swiss model as well. I didn't buy it because of the sheer size. Had it been 44 mm I would've bought one.
I have a love/hate relationship with Seiko, but that is not the same as love to hate, though. Really enjoyed the video. F#@k of Invicta made me laugh 😂
Can I just say that whoever is making your thumbnails, is doing an amazing job. Kudos if it's you making them, Jody! Love this video btw. All hail dark Jody!
I completely agree with the list, however i wouldve included Rolex. Sure they have some nice pieces, but their marketing strategy is awful. Im not waiting 3 years to buy any watch.
Sorry there Jodie I'd have to say that you were way too polite when it comes to Daniel Wellington. About the only use I could think of for these pieces of utter crap would be as fishing sinkers, but unfortunately they would be way too light. I'm sure that I would find much better quality emanating from the general vicinity of the rear orifice of a horse! Great video - I loved it!
I hate to admit it, but Daniel Wellington got me into watches. Even despite the salesperson telling me the D is upsidedown (it's not) because Daniel Wellington is from Australia (he's not) 😂

The male equivalent is “compensating”.
@@realistic_delinquent Spot on! LOL
I didn't know the term had a gender bias.
Great list! Somewhat surprised that Swatch didn't make your list! The moonswatch in particular has been very controversial for some...
no one will touch the swatch. It is one of the best watch brands ever, full of icons
Excellent stuff Jody. Yes yes and kin’el erm yes. Thing that gets me is that some cost way too much and others seem to have no ceiling at all… hmmm not enough add two zero’s. Do feel sorry for all those who bought a Bremont just before they re-branded too.
I used to not care for/ almost dislike the tag Monaco but now it’s probably my dream/ grail chronograph
Invicta is inexpensive, and that is the reason I dont think it deserves to be hated
Depends on which models you're looking at. They have more expensive ones.
@@orangeyellow-me1pz OK
Great video, I'm so happy to see that none of the brands that I wear is not on this dark list. My casio mudmaster was so happy, is not the ugliest one, compared to the Invicta and the others. I mostly use quartz watches, I like citizen eco-drive and casio watches. I still have a vintage citizen chronomaster from my grandfather, and some models from orient. I never considered other brands. My only Hamilton one was serviced after a pool dive. Since then it's in a box. At this moment I don't want to use mechanical watches.
I honestly think Tag is the most underrated brand as a whole. Their catalogue is just nuts
Yeah sure , market a basic Citizen Eco-Drive movement in a Titanium dive watch that doesn’t even have a lume pip, and asks a princely sum for it.
(SolarGraph)
That’s the way.
Great video! Lots of fun and loaded to the gills with honesty.
Swatch, invicta, timex, Hublot, DW, and sadly Seiko because they raised their prices and took away there real dive watch,,,, ps Rolex and there sales tactics are almost on my list ✌️😎

Doesn’t make any sense.
THEIR real dive watch.
THEIR sale tactics.
Corrected it for you, just plain English.
My first auto was an Invictia sub homage. Now I have an Omega. Tudor, Grand Seiko, Hamilton,, Tag Heuer, Seiko & Mutiple Casios. Thanks Invictia :)
Never heard of Invictia?
2:24 Ooh that one on the left is stunningly fully realized.
Hello dark Jody
Helloooooo Kevin!
Thanks for another fun video! I'm interested to know what you were wearing in this video. I couldn't quite make it out. Looks like a nice field watch, which is right up my alley.
If you’re gonna go dark, you gotta find a better name Jody doesn’t exactly stripe fear in the hearts of men
*strike
The Invicta Pro Diver convinced me to not buy a Rolex Submariner 😊
I saw a Hublot that I thought actually looked surprisingly good in person. It was a truly funky piece.
Mate at work has a DW and I was in a quandary about telling him for fear of being a watch snob.
I was only trying to educate the poor fellow
Hublot has always struck me as Invicta for people with more money.
Jody's just disappointed Erebus cant sponsor an F1 team.
yet... haha
I love my Tag F1 Red Bull Racing. Beautiful looking watch ❤
Hello, what glasses are you wearing? Would love some details ❤
Spot on video. You're great as always
my list of watches I would not consider: anything super-shiny on tables in a malls, Invicta, kids non-casio digital watches, Apple Watch, modern Timex
So you'd wear a Samsung watch.
@@orangeyellow-me1pz I have one, a 4-gen one I got secondhand for dirt cheap, it's ok, I use it when exercising. When it dies I probably get a Solar Casio
Great channel… I finally subscribed
As a Swedish person I would like to apologise for the brand with my first name from my country, Daniel Wellington.
I love my blue-dial TAG Heuer Autavia. F1 drivers get their Mille's for free, they just have to make sure they're 'in frame' once in a while.
Fair enough but I still want a Carerra 39
"Feel free to look away if you start to feel nauseous." 😂
Thanks, Dark Jody! Your positivity still comes through, though.
Am I wrong in kind of wanting one of the Invicta Jokers?
Dude, don't pay attention to the people here and buy what you like. Most people aren't like the ones here. They all enjoy the Submariner design while I find it played out and don't want one. Point is, buy what you like because you only live once.
Agree on Tag. Not a fan of Invicta but if they save/revive Zodiac, I’ll forgive them, Never heard of the other brands at all.
Is that the cheap Solar movement they borrowed from Citizen?
😂
Morning jody! Lol! Not watch yet but he are the ones I hate hublot, timex and rolex. Love helm, seiko and Sinn
My wife & I had 4 original Tag Heuer F1 quartz watches between us (2 metal bodied, 2 plastic). 3 of the 4 died & replacement plastic straps & bezels were not available to purchase. Not a great experience.
Invicta produced a minute repeater watch which gave everyone a chance to own one, that didn't cost the earth. So fair play to them.
Oh jody, starting out with Invicta 😂 you made me throw of in my mouth a bit, right from the start 🤣
My first thought before any brand was mentioned was Hublot… and I said it in Nico Leonard’s accent 🤣
Very accurate list.
Wait, the super-skeletonized Invicta on the right at 2:37. That's a banger ,.I'd like the reference number.
Spot on in every watch brand mate!!!
There is a Hublot model for Singapore watch club that looks amazing, the only Hublot that looks amazing...
7 x spot on 👌
I have a love/hate relationship with Seiko, but that is not the same as love to hate, though. Really enjoyed the video. F#@k of Invicta made me laugh 😂
Tag definitely going in the right direction and getting more love than hate of late. The others are definitely on the sh1t pile for me 😂
10:48 actually an interesting mechanical contraption
Can I just say that whoever is making your thumbnails, is doing an amazing job. Kudos if it's you making them, Jody! Love this video btw. All hail dark Jody!
I completely agree with the list, however i wouldve included Rolex. Sure they have some nice pieces, but their marketing strategy is awful. Im not waiting 3 years to buy any watch.
Is it bad that I don’t hate the classic fusion from hublot?
Spot on! 100% agree
Even despite the salesperson telling me the D is upsidedown (it's not) because Daniel Wellington is from Australia (he's not) 😂
I own some high end watches, but my Invicta Pro Diver 8926OB is still my guilty pleasure. Brush the bracelet with scotch brite and buy it during prime day and you have the bargain of the century.
Stupidly, after my GS, it’s one of my most accurate watches.
Embrasse your inner Invicta,
You know you want to 😉
Currently wearing my Monaco Calibre 11 🎉
Great and entertaining video, Jodie!
You're absolutely right!
When i saw the video on my page i knew TAG Heuer was in the middle, they always et a lot of hate (a lot of time for no reason).
