Sacrificing the champion of Kirkwall instead of the moustache guy? Nothing logical about that, lol. Hawke still could be needed in the future. He obviously must live on.
Luiz Antonio Well, you are not even really sure if hawke died. Flemith did warn you of that moment in DA:2, to quote her, "We stand upon the precipice of change. The world fears the inevitable plummet into the abyss. Watch for that moment... and when it comes, do not hesitate to leap. It is only when you fall that you learn whether you can fly." Of course, this could of been flemeths misunderstanding of the future, as it was (by default) morrigan that gains the dragon form to flemeth's surprise, but the meaning could have been deeper.
You know, I think Hawke’s my favorite Dragon Age protagonist. The Hero of Ferelden had a duty as a Grey Warden to stop the Blight. The Inquisitor has no choice but to join the Inquisition if he wants to live. But Hawke does what he does because he’s there and is willing to make a choice about where he stands, no matter the consequences. Obviously the nuances are different for different people, but the mould remains
Actually, Hawke did in DA2 everything just to survive. Fled to Kirkwall from the blight because they had no real choice. Sided with Mercenaries to even get into Kirkwall because there were too many refugees. A lot of stuff were just circumstances and they had to keep their position/money for their family. And for the last confrontation in Kirkwall, they still had a Sibling there, unless they became a Grey Warden. They fought Corypheus only because they stumbled upon him and because Cory was bound there by Papa Hawke's blood magic and they felt responsible for it. So no. Hawke didn't do what they did just because they're willing to make a choice no matter the consequences. They're very similar to the Inquisitor. Though the Inquisitor-Role is more "radically" lived than the Champion-Role.
@@MikaeruDaiTenshi did you not play all those MANY side quests helping people? lol. Hawke was kind and helpful...at least in my playthrough. Plus he was super charming when you picked the corresponding answers. He also didn't HAVE to fight the Kunari dude.
@@MikaeruDaiTenshi Olorin did say "Obviously the nuances are different for different people" which meant it depends on how you played your Hawke. Some aren't though They got to Kirkwall, yes, but only with the help of Flemeth. You can't even say that's one sided help because Flemeth needed someone to bring over her locket to Marethari to ensure she'd stay alive even after Warden, Morrigan & co decide to kill her. Your affiliation with either the Red Iron or Athenril was beneficial, but Gamlen pretty much sold them into the organization--especially if you're a mage, since Gamlen told Red Iron you are one. Despite this, you have an option to choose to carry or refuse your contract. You can choose to spare Frederich and Lord Harimann from the contract, after which the Red Iron will take it a betrayal and try to kill you. Fast forward, Hawke makes a name for themself so they get hired for jobs to keep food on the table. All of them are against Slavers, Demon-controlled Templars, Blood Mages, Tal Vashoths, Mercenaries, Demons, Abominations and Darkspawn. When Hawke earned the title Champion of Kirkwall, the Arishok deemed literally no one else worthy of fighting him 1v1. At that point the Viscount was dead and Kirkwall was fucked. He wanted to re educate the whole city except Hawke didn't stood by. You earn the title by blood, by handing over Isabela (wtf who would do this tbh) or fighting for her life, your friend--because no one else will and no one else can. During the confrontation at Gallows, Hawke was the last person holding it together, since pretty much Orisono and Meredith went complete bonkers, but Hawke helped and killed both to stop them from wreaking more havoc because no one else would. Legacy was Hawke's last goodbye to Malcolm (and Leandra). As you said, it's their responsibility, so instead of running from the responsibility, Hawke helps and kills Corypheus because at that point, no one else could. Plus I agree with Sasa Kelala above me. Majority of Hawke's missions are people asking for help because they don't have the means, they don't anyone else to turn to and well, no one else can help. Depending on your friendship with Aveline, it's mentioned Hawke helps a lot with more serious cases or cases not reachable by guardsmen. Depending on your playthrough you also help the Templars (whether they get kicked or stay) and the Mages (freedom or sent back to circle), too before Act3. You can argue Hawke's all in it for the money, but a lot of quest even stay in your journal/quest list even if you refuse to help some assholes. Got nothing against Warden or Inquisitor since DAI was my first DA game and DAO holds special place in my heart, but the Inquisitor put it best: Hawke helped and saved people, not because they swore an oath or because they had a mark on their hand, but because someone had to do it. Haha, replaying DA series recently and I'm in DA2 now, so I had a lot to say^^
@@Nobody-sh4pu God I wish I could frame this explanation on my wall or something. The Warden and the Inquisitor were the classic RPG protagonists IMO, the nobodies who were pushed into facing a word threatening event due to fate or destiny. They're also fully customizable for the player to insert themselves into. (Looking back, Hawke being a human-only character was one of the gripes people had the time) What makes Hawke so endearing is that despite how you run their story (whether you're a benevolent do gooder, a bored, sarcastic person who does things for fun, or a selfish asshole) the decision feels personal, not justified by an invisible "greater good". In fact, Hawke may choose not to get themselves involved in the events of DA:I and just disappear into a distant land like Rivain since as far as they were concerned, they killed Corypheus. But they still chose to take responsibility and hunt that thing down. I hope BioWare finds a good balance between the personal and the global stories of the protagonist for DA 4. Edit : also, what I love in DA2 is, despite gaining the title "Champion of Kirkwall", to your friends and family, you're still good 'ol Hawke to them. In the other two games, your player character was still addressed rather formally even if you have supposed to have formed a bond to your companions.
I had to. :( I chose Alistair at first because I had him romance my elf and the hero sent me a letter before that basically saying "If I lose Alistair to YOUR inquisition......" and so I killed him. Bitch didn't do shit.
+Bravo Kilo I had Alistair crowned and my noble character his queen but in Inquisition, he's with that other lady. it kinda pissed me off. so I was with the Hawke vs Stroud choose. I think because I didn't know Stroud and I didn't want Varric sad, I chose Stroud over Hawke
Honestly the game should have had an option where it said something like that. Especially if you do bulls quest and say you sacrifice his men. Because bulls, much like Varric to Hawke, loves his men. It should break their hearts, not just disappoint them. That extra level of detail would have been amazing. Along with a overjoyed option too or something for when you affect your companions in a positive way.
Did anyone else's heart just shatter when he said "Sorry Anders.."? I tried to kill Hawke once... I let the Warden die every time... i just can't see Varric's sad face! Even if you get to hug him it still just hurts!
Ah, same. I used to kill Hawke because I played Origins first, then Inquisition and didn't buy DA2 until I was halfway through Inquisition. Regret that every time. Also, since my canon Hawke romanced Anders I just hate that so much. Because I can't see Anders remaining sane after losing Hawke. Considering nobody else seems to keep in contact with him except a romanced Hawke. (Not sure if a Hawke that befriended Anders may have kept in contact with a living Anders but my point still stands.)
My older sister played a sassy female Hawke and left her in the Fade. Her reasoning was that Hawke would kill the demon, cut it's head off (warrior Hawke), rip the Fade back open, and then end up showing up two years late (so after Trespasser) with a decapitated demon and Starbucks. I left Stroud because I love Hawke too much and I figured since it was true the Grey Wardens had kinda fucked up, a Grey Warden had better start fixing things.
The animation of Hawke fighting the spider was sloppy. He was a mage, complete with staff and everything yet they had him slashing away like it was a sword, even made the sounds of a sword...would it have killed the developers to write an extra sequence showing him blasting away with magic?
+DHF F Seriously though. Even if they didn't want to animate a spell or force certain magic types on our old player character, mages have default blasts that any of them can use when wielding a staff.
I feel like this was the best end for Hawke. Exactly like the Inquisitor said She did things because they had to get done not because she was special. To quote mordin "Had to be me. Someone else might have gotten it wrong."
Flemeth to Hawke: "We stand upon the precipice of change. The world fears the inevitable plummet into the abyss. Watch for that moment... and when it comes, do not hesitate to leap. It is only when you fall that you learn whether you can fly."
... Nahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, they would never plan Hawke to come back even more badass and OP if you actually left them in the Fade, right
Hit me in the heart when Varric said "well" then just couldn't say anything else and walked off. All the missions, memories, foes defeated together him and Hawke. The memories of dragon age 2 abs makes me feel that pain because Hawke was his greatest friend in the world. Dang that hurt
Hawk has something the inquisitor doesn't and I love inquisition and the characters it's friends who'd brave the fade to get him or her back. That's if you played hawk as a paragon or sarcastic. I know my hawke would be confident of the fact her friends would do that. Hake and her friends were a close knit group at the end. Merril do your stuff!
A part of me thinks that since we never see him die, or find a body, whoever gets left behind (Hawke, Alistair etc.) may not actually die. Bioware have retconned characters that you can kill like Lelanna, so why not Hawke?
Martin Steell to be fair Trespasser epilogue suggests Inquisition Leliana was probably a spirit like Cole who took on a form of someone whose death left an imprint on them, probably a spirit of faith. If the warden kills her that is, it's a retcon but I kinda love this explanation.
Martin Steell exactly. Anders and Leliana could both be killed, and you get silly explanations as to how they survived. Hawke surviving wouldn't only be expected, but it'd be following an already set precedent. Same thing happened with Mass Effect and the council. If you kill them, they just get replaced by nearly identical people. Bioware has a tradition with making "kill big characters or not" choices have no consequences. Not mad at them, they can still tell a good-ish story (Andromeda, why?), but their rpgs are becoming more and more linear and less interactive every damn game. Even Telltale is close to having their choices matter just as much as any Bioware rpg in the last 5 years, and that's saying a lot
Except saving or not saving the council actually has an impact on the games and the new council is (to me) noticeably different, especially that rude ass Asari. Plus they explain and it makes sense why theres a new council. Dont think you can compare the council choices to Leliana's "bs"
i feel like they shouldn’t do that. as much as i don’t want hawke or alistair (idgaf about loghain or stround tbh lol) dead, it would cheapen the scene and completely destroy any semblance of choice.
I always felt like a terrible person when I chose Hawke. To this day, after 2-3 years of owning and playing this game, I still refuse to choose him when this scene comes up. The hurt on Varric's face when he finds out just makes my heart break :(
I know Healing Aura stops SH Hawke from using any offensive magic while he's got that passive up, but my guy really just said Leroy Jenkins and hit em with the bladed end of the staff
"We stand upon the precipice of change. The world fears the inevitable plummet into the abyss. Watch for that moment... and when it comes, do not hesitate to leap. It is only when you fall that you learn whether you can fly."
to be fair, the game said, "it is very likely Hawke/stroud will die" when you are given the choice. "Very likely will die" isn't "Will most definately die"
I wonder what it says about Bioware's character writing given I'm more broken up about Varric being upset about Hawke's death than I am about the death itself.
Hawke says sorry to whoever they were in romance with, if you let Hawke fend off the spider. I'm sure because I did it to see what happens, but it was in a game with Isabela in romance instead. Side note: is that supposed to be Anders in your profile pic?
I could never make the choice of leaving Hawke in the Fade, I never could do it. I spent so much time in DA2 and I bonded with all of my friends and loved the characters as they went through many personal things together. And plus it was basically telling me to toss away a character that I hardly knew, for a character that I played as for 30+ hours and did so many things with. Seeing Varric like this, I'm glad each time I play through Inquisition that I never sacrifice Hawke instead of Stroud. I always placed Alistair on the throne, and I killed Loghain in Origins.
When I made that choice, I chose Hawke to stay. I had too much history with Alistair to let him stay, but when I heard the end, I knew I fucked up, even when I saw Varric heartbroken. ugly tears were shed that day
Bakers so you always make the evil choices and choose to not like his smart ass comments. That’s the only way he would be angry with you. You would have to be a dick in origins
everyone I'm the hawke family has had the best death scenes and reactions when Bethany or carver die in the start of DA2 it haunts hawke and his mother when carver or Bethany does in the deep roads hawke could never forgive himself when Hawked mother died it was honestly the saddest death I have ever seen in gaming because she was honestly the best made character in DA2 and to see her go was just heartbreaking an when hawke dies it's also so emotional
After I was convinced of the "leap on the abyss and learn how to fly" theory I had to restart everything with an Amell Warden, felt like raising Hawke as a pig to the slaughter.
Is there ever just an option where you put your head down and go “... I’m sorry Varric, Hawks didn’t make it.” Everything sounds like a man trying to make everything sound embellished. “If not for him, we would never have made it, he died a hero” I don’t like that.
What I really hated about this scene with Hawke is the animation is always the same, flailing whatever weapon he has around. Would've been badass to see Hawke launch some giant ass fireballs against that thing.
You have to marvel at the overwhelming stupidity that went into this decision. Sacrifice Hawke or a minor Warden NPC. The choose option should ONLY have ever been if the choice were between Hawke siblings. That at least has weight. You can imagine a DA2 player wanting their Hawke to sacrifice themselves to protect their little brother/sister. But STROUD!? Laughable.
Dragonmots I know this is a super long ago post, but i think he might've ended up possessed by the demon. Maybe he even does it so that it can't possess someone in the non-fade world. Regardless, I doubt he's dead. They wouldn't put probably in the sentence if he was certainly going to die.
I just can't kill Hawke. It makes Varric so sad but it also hurt other characters. Obviously Carver/Bethany who are the only ones alive of the family if none of them died in the deep roads. And then your love interest. My Hawke romanced Anders so just imagine what it would do to him. Hawke was pretty much the only think keeping Anders from losing it so I think Justice would take over almost permanently.
We don’t see hawke die and it says likely, so there’s a very real chance he’s just trapped in the fade now, maybe we’ll see him in the next game while passing through the fade
God, could you imagine if they made us choose between the Hero of Ferelden and Hawke? I'd have to get drunk to make a choice. Oh well, sorry Stroud, it is what it is.
Well it can be difficult if Alistair is here, especially if you had him as the romance in DAO, imagine having to choose between killing your first protag's lover or the second protag?
I kept Hawke alive because, when the three great heroes of the Dragon age come together don't want to see the warden morrigan and kieran standing alongside the inquisitor and cassandra comforting Merrill as she stands over the third hero's tomb.
Am I the only person here who thinks that Hawke is the best Protagonist in Dragon Age? Now, before the DAO fanboys and fangirls kill me, I love Origins as much as the next person, but the Warden only ever lost twice in his/her story(Their Origin story[Except maybe the Mage Origin] than the Battle of Ostagar)[P.S I love the Multiple Warden fanfics]. Hawke, as badass as he/she is, does nothing but lose throughout the entirety of DA2. In my first playthrough, being the dumbass bitch that I am, I ended up getting ALL of Hawkes family killed. Poor Hawke, lost her mother, father(off-screen), brother and sister.
Fans when da2 came out: I DON'T WANNA PLAY AS A HUMAN CALLED HAWKE I WANNA PLAY A BEARDED MIDJET OR AN EFFEMINATE PIXIE MAN NOT A STUPID HUMAN NAMED AFTER A BIRD Fans now: He was like a father to me
I okay with the choosing between the two, but the way they handled it seemed lame and poorly done, I think they all could have managed to get out, it didnt seem like anyone needed to stay behind at all.
even still seeing this after all these years and completing this scene on game gets me emotionally every time. worst option what i have ever chosen in Dai.
Honestly, learning more about Stroud as a person and Warden, he's also not an easy choice to sacrifice. He was conscripted by Clarel into the Wardens, to stop him from seeking revenge for his murdered family, casualties of the Grand Game (fuck Orlais, that place is a piece of shit coated in diamonds to try and distract from the shit). Due to his training with the Academie des Chevaliers, he was one of, and later THE, finest swordsman in the Wardens. Over the decades he served, his trainees were among the best in the Grey Wardens in terms of skill.
When I first did a run through of the DA series, I kept Alistair a warden and hated DA2. So sacrificing Hawke was an easy choice. 5 years later I did another run through and fell in love with DA2. I can’t ever justify Hawke dying and hurting Varric and his friends anymore. U g h
I loaded my decisions manually through codes (cause DA keep sucks) and instead of Stroud you can get Loghain as Hawke's buddy if you let him live through DAO. I played all the trilogy in order and I simply became attached to my humorous femhawke; her and Merrill are my favorite DA characters. So, even if I get the choice a thousand times, I'd always choose to have Loghain sacrifice himself. The man already lived a long life, it won't be long before age and the Calling claims him, he has done his mistakes, he is a war hero from the war between Ferelden and Orlais, and has always seeked a chance to redeem himself. Hawke is much younger than him, and though her family is dead, she has Merrill waiting for her. It would simply break my heart to leave Hawke behind when she has so much life ahead of her. In this outcome, Varric commented on how the tale of the Hero of River Dale (Loghain) has come to an end. But he's glad that Hawke is alive and well, though she heads to Weisshaupt after that.
I've begin to play dragon age with this game... Not really knowing who Hawke was... So I killed him because of his inspired speech and for the drama of course... And now, I'm reading comments and i feel like a monster.
I initially refused to sacrifice Hawke but I’ve seen the comments speaking on this. MY Hawke wouldn’t have given the Inquisitor the choice. They’re Ride or Die when it comes to fighting the Big Baddies
I remember my female Dalish Inquisitor taking Varric into her arms to help him grief... In that moment, my small Dalish was the big shoulder for that massive dwarf. That moment was heartbreaking.
I mean given bs bioware pulled off so far with characters like Anders, Wynne, Justice that were outright reconnected I wouldn't get past them. Import system isn't really well thought out and executed in this franchise.
I honestly don't think Hawke dies in there. Flemeth basically recommends Hawke to 'leap into the abyss' paraphrasing. And also tells him to become a dragon, maybe in jest, but maybe not, its Flemeth after all. And I think the parable of becoming a dragon like her and flying out of danger is a deliberate metaphor. Hawke would survive where Stroud or Alistair or Loghain would not.
*sacrifices Hawke*
Everyone: "Nooo, why did it have to come to this! He was such a good person, why!"
*sacrifices Stroud*
Everyone: "It was a necessary sacrifice, back to important inquisition business."

Sword slashing sound effects to.
Healer mages and their riduculously long CD :)

Have you seen Stroud's Mustache? Pretty sure he did at the least.
Yeah but a fear demons is different from the other demons in Dragon age, there will always be fear, so the spider will live forever
Plus whoever is in your party
James Toney in cutscenes even the most op characters tend to lose their guts for some reason
Isn’t it possible to replace Stroud with Alistair? If that’s the case, the spider would be shitting itself.
And you wonder Hawk dies, he is a mage, and instead of casting spells, he starts hitting that thing with the staff.
hahaha

Some aren't though
They got to Kirkwall, yes, but only with the help of Flemeth.
(Looking back, Hawke being a human-only character was one of the gripes people had the time)
What makes Hawke so endearing is that despite how you run their story (whether you're a benevolent do gooder, a bored, sarcastic person who does things for fun, or a selfish asshole) the decision feels personal, not justified by an invisible "greater good".
@@RedEyedRaven93 ah really? Mf ohgren keep spitting his drink in front of my warden despite me having a higher rank than him
Ah sarcastic Hawke is best Hawke
DJ Jenny :3 I love sarcastic hawke. But only the girl...guy hawke's voice annoys me 😒
Glad I had Alistair crowned in my game, I don't think I could choose between Hawke or him
+monica villa i guess the hero of ferelden never makes an apprearance no matter what then
gab perron well yeah, but they make it sound like the hero of ferelden is dead both in this video as well as my game play (which I just finished)
Females actually play this game ? lol
I love the Sarcastic Hawke story the most. It feels so great. And it hurts so bad.
It's diplomatic Hawke lol
and remember he died at CHATEU HAINEEEEEEEEEEEEE
"I'm sorry Anders..."
It's fine it's not like I needed a heart or anything.
He isn't greatly disapproving, he is HEARTBROKEN !
Yep. I came down to the comments to see if anybody else mentioned it 😭
@@VenhedisKaffas I doubt poor Anders would even survive without Hawke.
"His last words were: "Say goodbye to Varric for me.""
Pretty sure it was actually: "Spiders! Always the Maker-damned spiders!"
Trying to cheer up varric. "His last words were Spiders! always the Maker damned spiders!"
Varric: yeah, he would say that.
@@tkbryan95 Varric: Typical Hawke.
I like Stroud, but I can't do that to Varric and my Hawkes' LI :(
If Alistair didn't die, get banished, or crowned, it's a choice between Hawke and Alistair.
I know
Let me guess...it's Fenris, isn't it? ;-)
Anders
JadeRaven24 I see! Usually, people who can't sacrifice Hawke are scared to hurt their romanced Fenris. :)
Flemeth to Hawke:
"We stand upon the precipice of change. The world fears the inevitable plummet into the abyss. Watch for that moment... and when it comes, do not hesitate to leap. It is only when you fall that you learn whether you can fly."
And this mission called Here Lies The Abyss
...
Nahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, they would never plan Hawke to come back even more badass and OP if you actually left them in the Fade, right
@@toolatetothestory like a dragon Hawke? right?
That "Sorry, Anders.." at the end hurt me because I romanced Anders and kept Hawke alive. It should be illegal to make Varric sad!
Seeing Varric sad breaks my damn heart
Hawke was a more directed character that the Inquisitor
I liked Hawke better too, but I would not consider her group a tight knit group.
Your Inquisitor's eyebrows are nicer than mine.
He totally survives. Flemeth told him to make this choice - And he does.
He is seen to go limp though. And this (Mage-)Hawke is even quite stupid for hitting the Demon with his Staff...
@@MikaeruDaiTenshi I've watched this multiple times. He doesn't go limp.
I always felt like a terrible person when I chose Hawke. To this day, after 2-3 years of owning and playing this game, I still refuse to choose him when this scene comes up. The hurt on Varric's face when he finds out just makes my heart break :(
^^ I even sacrificed Alistair instead. Killed me, but I couldn't do that to Varric
Just noticed that when the Inquisitor hugs Varric at 2:12 the Hawke family theme from DA2 is playing in the background.
I played through Dragon Age 2 and I can tell you Hawke would have said told Varric: "It had to be me. Anyone else would have fucked it up."
Like Mordin lol. That would've been an amazing little cameo. "Had to be me, someone else might have gotten it wrong"
Hawke is someone, who changed my mind about my most favourite RPG hero... I cannot kill him. NEVER!
suuppose hawke didnt die... it did say LIKELY DIE. maybe hes just stuck in the fade lookin for a way out
I wonder what it says about Bioware's character writing given I'm more broken up about Varric being upset about Hawke's death than I am about the death itself.
Varric: Where's Hawke?
Inquisitor: HE DEAD
who said "sorry anders" at the end? hawke???!?!!!1!1
Hawke says sorry to whoever they were in romance with, if you let Hawke fend off the spider. I'm sure because I did it to see what happens, but it was in a game with Isabela in romance instead.
Side note: is that supposed to be Anders in your profile pic?
Tag! whaaat? pfft, of course not * sweats nervously*
oh my god. everything about this kills me but the "sorry, anders" hits the most. whyyy :,-(
Lets be real if anyone could survive the fade it'd be Hawke
Nope. Could never leave Hawke. Especially after seeing Varric's reaction. Nope. Nope.
Am I the only one who thinks that default male Hawke looks stupid in DAI?
Default Allistair looks stupid too. Female Hawke is pretty though.
+Otto Kylänlahti At first yes. But he does kind of grow on you.
I always placed Alistair on the throne, and I killed Loghain in Origins.
omg that kirkwall theme when Varric's telling that story...my heart T_T
This choice is SOOOOO hard if its between Alistair and Hawke.....
+Walter Camacho I chose Alistair, partly because I deserved a heroic death, and partly to not make Varric cry.
When I made that choice, I chose Hawke to stay. I had too much history with Alistair to let him stay, but when I heard the end, I knew I fucked up, even when I saw Varric heartbroken. ugly tears were shed that day
Nah, I always kill hawk.
Fuck alistair. No matter what i do in origins he is always angry at me.
I’m sorry but if you EVER sacrifice Hawke instead of mr. Mustache, we’re gonna have a HUGE problem
I’ve never sacrificed anyone except Hawke, no matter who the Warden is
"Safe Harbors Isabela..." I literally started crying idk why
That hug :3
+Kiko Sempai The second I saw that hug, instant reload; hit me right in the feels it did. Hawke over Alistair anyday!

I feel like shit now.
*Where's* *Hawke* ?
Welp, today's the day my old friend!
*Looks* *at* *rope* *over* *a* *chair*
0:48 with that tone, may as well have said "what are you gonna do about it?"
He isn't greatly disapproving, he is HEART-BREAKING !
I had no idea the story changed based on the personality you choose for Hawke in DA2. Thats incredible
Is there ever just an option where you put your head down and go “... I’m sorry Varric, Hawks didn’t make it.” Everything sounds like a man trying to make everything sound embellished. “If not for him, we would never have made it, he died a hero” I don’t like that.
Varric at 1:00 is just so done with this shit, he's straight up out.
Laughable.
Awe that was freaking great. I never got that far in this game but I completed origins, awakening, and da2
Has a staff, but runs up to the big monster to hit it with said staff in melee combat instead of using magic from afar. Sure, that makes sense.
I expected Hawke to use magic and survive, sinds it said "Hawke will *probably* die"
Dragonmots I know this is a super long ago post, but i think he might've ended up possessed by the demon. Maybe he even does it so that it can't possess someone in the non-fade world. Regardless, I doubt he's dead. They wouldn't put probably in the sentence if he was certainly going to die.
If there is no body, there is no dead. For me Hawke's "death" is like Gandalf's death in the Fellowship of the Ring
even when stroud dies, the da2 music kills me everytime i just cries
I could never kill off my Hawke. Sorry Stroud, you never stood a chance.
wtf, my hawke could have kill that nerd, not only that, with 10 more of it. (reaver)
They didn’t die. My theory.
Your inquisitor looks like hes off to host an early 2000s MTV show right after all this saving the world business
AWWWEE giving Varric a hug is the most adorable thing ever!
I would sacrifice Hawke easily. HoF is a legend and saved thedas from darkspawn
THIS IS HEARTBREAKING. NO.
I kept Hawke alive because, when the three great heroes of the Dragon age come together don't want to see the warden morrigan and kieran standing alongside the inquisitor and cassandra comforting Merrill as she stands over the third hero's tomb.
+Henry Mcdougall thos characters are meant to be the player, so you can die all you want, I'll live and enjoy the world I saved.
Cassandra: "Varric...I'm... Does this mean I wont be getting my Tale of the Champion signed then?"
Fans when da2 came out: I DON'T WANNA PLAY AS A HUMAN CALLED HAWKE I WANNA PLAY A BEARDED MIDJET OR AN EFFEMINATE PIXIE MAN NOT A STUPID HUMAN NAMED AFTER A BIRD
Fans now: He was like a father to me
I okay with the choosing between the two, but the way they handled it seemed lame and poorly done, I think they all could have managed to get out, it didnt seem like anyone needed to stay behind at all.
even still seeing this after all these years and completing this scene on game gets me emotionally every time. worst option what i have ever chosen in Dai.
I could never do this. Varric's expressions just murder me inside. Probably his best friend.
Mhm, in the default worldstate hawke was his best friend in DA2, where they’re the protagonist.
I solve the situation by making Alistair the King, and sacrificing brief Stroud.
WOOOOW Can I just say your Inquisitor looks frickin GORGEOUS
Just putting it out there, It never says that whoever stays behind in the fade dies or gets stuck there....
"Corypheus is mine!"
Umm Hawke... I understand you're confused by the same voice actor, but this is NOT Corypheus...
Does his dialoge change when you select in the Dragon Age Keep that you werent good friends with Varric?
But he's glad that Hawke is alive and well, though she heads to Weisshaupt after that.
it was bad enough with Varric being all sad but that 'Sorry Anders' at the end just broke my heart. how rude.
could never sacrifice hawke, i can't do that to varric
I've begin to play dragon age with this game... Not really knowing who Hawke was... So I killed him because of his inspired speech and for the drama of course...
And now, I'm reading comments and i feel like a monster.
Its gonna be like grunt. He is gonna show up in the next game with a few injuries.
I'm glad I can watch this and know that I didn't sacrifice Hawke in my playthrough.
And yet it still hurts to watch. :(
I'm gonna cry!!!!!!! I could never let my Hawke die.
I initially refused to sacrifice Hawke but I’ve seen the comments speaking on this. MY Hawke wouldn’t have given the Inquisitor the choice. They’re Ride or Die when it comes to fighting the Big Baddies
I dont know whether bringing Varric would be better or worse. On one hand he has to see his freind die. On the other hand, he gets to say goodbye.
I remember my female Dalish Inquisitor taking Varric into her arms to help him grief... In that moment, my small Dalish was the big shoulder for that massive dwarf. That moment was heartbreaking.
We didn't actually see Hawke die. I mean, that's just high hopes. But don't put it past BioWare. Whoever you leave behind may not be dead.
I’ve never made this choice ! I’ve never seen this!! The whole scene actually made me so sad ! Omg 🥺
