That said, I have just about every possible world state made so I can see how they might effect the next game (if at all) I just prefer to keep the warden and Alistair together because feelings.
I’m far too attached to Alistair and Hawke to do anything less than making him king. I’d never be able to choose between them. He seems to do a pretty decent job anyway.

I don´t think he is most happy as a warden, because when meeting Goldanna in the fade and you asking him why he is so content, he says don´t want to fight and fight gain and then die a senseless death in the deep roads. He thought he would be happy as a warden, but it wasn´t the right place for him. He just always wanted always belong to some groupe that gives his damaged soul some self worth. When looking at him you see mostly a goofball but behind that he is often very sarcastic / sassy , observant and insightfull. He is a smart guy. He is so much afraid of beeing king, not because he hates beeing a king itself, but because he thinks he will be the worst king ever and he will destroy his land by his incompentence. He has absorbed the verbale abuse and neglect of his past and thinks he is some kind of incompetent fool who deserves to be hurt, betrayed, abandoned, patronized or just harrassed for beeing a worthless bastard. He prefers to be in the shadows and follow orders because he thinks he will fail when he takes command. He is also so desperate for some love that he naively will give Goldanna money hoping that she will accept him. This is the reason why I harden him and make him king mostly, because he can break out off this circle and becoming a man he can respect, someone who will activly fight for his ideals, because Alistair wants to make a difference in the world, he wants to make it a better place so that others don´t have to suffer. He can do that as warden too and while unhardened he will be most happy as one, but he can make much more significant difference with his intelligence and his skills, which he will improve as king and it is stated that by his charisma and easy grace he becomes he very popular king and forthermore through his trained skills he will be a good and just king. Some say he loses his hope in humanity when hardened, but why does he become such a strong but still benevolent king if he has lost his faith? But in DA2 and Inquisition his hardened version has merged with his unhardened version. He is the same regardless of your choices in DAO, thus he is a weird mix between a competent ( see his cameo) but simultaneously a goofy and incompetent king like his brother (see his letters) and the latter cries that he is unhappy but in DAO he said "Make me king" when hardened and he seemed very happy and content as king. Bioware has messed up with his character development. We have very litte King Alistair content and very much Warden Alistair content thus I can´t really tell in DAI where he is the happiest, but I just imagine his DAO hardened version and hpe they will fix this mess In DA4.

@Ethan Schultz Alistair doesn't show up until Act 3 whether as King or Warden, from what i remember. the Qunari problem was the main theme throughout act 2, because the mage/ templar thing doesn't start fully falling apart until the start of act 3. Alistair shows up either as a warden or king Alistair, drunk Alistair is more of a funny joke, i find it less interesting because he doesn't have much to say, so it's not a very long visit.
@Ethan Schultz oh, well you mentioned something about mods, so i didn't think of her. though canon wise if you go by the story, she did meet Alistair, not by herself but story wise she did. in the story it was Zevran who introduced Isabella to the Wardens. Hawke knew very little about them, other than him or her hearing about the Hero of Ferelden ending the blight and Alistair became King. my guess is Hawke probably heard it from varric, cause remember it was Varric telling the story. though based on how Varric is, it's hard to tell which part of the story is true and which part is made up. we definitely know for sure that legacy is true since it ties into Inquistion. but when you talk to Hawke in Inquistion, how he explains certain things even with the choices you make, it sounds like some of the things that played out was a little exaggerated by Varric. which is understandable, considering Cassandra had him held prisoner.
@@Pyxis10 not traitors though, they are willing to recruit anyone, but that involves dark spawn or during a blight when the right of conscription becomes mandatory, so what Loghain did wasn't just betraying a king, the Wardens were there hoping to stop the blight, someone got in the way of that. so in this case they would not recruit someone who betrayed the order, that's what the old Warden Commander did to stop a tyrant. if you remember the Wardens keep quest, that's what's his names great grandmother, but at one point in time she fought against a tyrant. it's unclear what it was all about, but some of the story plays out similar to what Loghain was trying to do to stop us.

Also the events of Wardens Keep clearly portray Sophia Dryden in a negative light: she abused her position as Warden-Commander and her claim to the throne to start a civil war, and one of the core tenets of being a Grey Warden is that you don't interfere with the politics of the nations they operate in. When she lost, it resulted in the Grey Wardens being banished from Ferelden until Maric reinstated them. The Warden and Alistair also meddled in the politics of Ferelden, but in their defense there was a Blight going on and all the other Wardens were dead. This wasn't the case at the time of Sophia Dryden.

Yes locations were recycled, whole plot took place in one city but has great story and the best protagonist. Hawke is my favourite protagonist from Dragon Age trilogy because he is not chosen one like Warden/Inquisitor and only consistent protagonist through trilogy. Why? Because we do not know exact name/race of Warden, same with Inquisitor but with Hawke/Champion of Kirkwall sex does not matter if male or female and he/she is always named Hawke and human. Also I liked in Dragon Age II friendship/rivalry system than approval/disapproval.

He should've swallowed his pride and stick with the wardens, Loghain or not.
My dwarfs always pick loghain because he did nothing to them but blame them for the kings death the others wardens wanted loghain to pay human noble wanted him to die because Howe city elf wanted him dead because of the alienage dalish elf wanted him dead for dividing the lands with no chance of surviving the blight and the mages wanted him dead for using jowan and stopping that templar from doing his job

@@bengunn9670 At first, I wanted to show mercy and recruit Loghain but after realizing how he literally allied himself to a man who killed almost entire Cousland family, sold elves to slavery, poisoned earl of Redcliffe and probably many other things I couldn't leave him alive. Alistair can be persistent jerk but in this case he was right about executing him.
