Okada went from Final Boss Champion to wacky Japanese tourist.
It's funny how AEW is doing EXACTLY what the IWC said that WWE would do to Japan and Japanese talent, but that crowd is radio silent. Signed major names? Check. Turned Champions and big names into geeks? Check. Damaged the scene? Check.
If they were going to make him a heel anyway they could have booked him as the Roman Reigns of Japan. Why do the comedy shit?
@@JRJrsx85 The Rock should Rock Bottom him multiple times.
You mean he's become Chevy Chase from National Lampoons Vacation?
considering whos using the title "The Final Boss" right now, i think its insulting to use those words to describe someone as lame as Okada. all hail The Rock.
That’s funny AEW banning signs and shirts I remember folks had meltdowns when WWE did it 😂
TK is so much like Vince McMahon formally the negative traits he pointed out and he doesn't even see it.
@@ButWhatIfItIs at least Tony is too meek to ever be a weirdo sexpest like Vince
They're such a heel company now. Wont listen to fans or experts, pushing friends, banning signs and shirts and owned by a talentless rich kid
This is what I call a full circle 😅
@@adyshowers7970 facts
Triple H strikes 3 stories at once with a CM Punk interference and Tony can't book a single story with 13 matches on the card! *GREAT*
AeW is not WWE. AeW's goal was never to be a watered down version of WWE. AeW is wrestling for smart fans. WwE is wrestling for kids.
@@unknownkingdom Are you sure AEW has smart fans? Ones who care about wrestling?
*Ding*
Only TK will book the first Punk vs McIntyre match to be a Texas Death match.
Bro I've been loving wwe lately but the booking on mitb was all over the place
I still cannot believe what these people have done to Okada. He used to actually be something.
It's almost a guarantee that AEW will suck the aura away from literally anyone that had one. No one feels special in that company. No one.
Okada did it to himself. He knew what he signed up for. AEW is the easiest money a wrestler can make.
@@SES6924Oh they all feel "special" alright.
@@REVIVALFitnessexactly and he can’t speak English you can only so far wit not being able to
Okada IMO was brought into the company just so American audiences could get to watch Omega vs. Okada 5.
Cornette is going to have a heart attack when he finds out Marko Stunted Growth has returned to AEW AND got a title shot
Considering the pop that he had and how the company has gone the past few years, He might have actually missed Marko Stunt. Even I was slightly excited to him for about 30 to 45 seconds.
Marko Stunt is a favorite punching bag for Jim. He will enjoy it.
The main problem is Jim doesn’t waste time watching collision. Can you blame him though ?
Seriously? Jesus fucking Christ
Wrestler returns and immediately gets a title shot? No non title matches to dust off ring rust?
What AEW has done to Okada is something else. Dude was a megastar in Japan and AEW took all his shine away. AEW could get John Cena, Roman Reigns and still fuck it up.
If Okada signed with the WWE,he would have been required to work much harder for less money than he makes for AEW.This AEW stint is just a way for him to get tons of easy money while barely breaking a sweat, while hanging out with his friends.
If that is the case, who can blame any of these guys.
@@chriscornelius2518 No one really blames the wrestlers themselves, except for maybe a lack of ambition. They're milking a dumb cash cow dry, which is fair enough if they don't believe in themselves to make it in the proper league.
And it's not like they would've necessarily made him a star. Look at Nakamura.
@duckmercy11 Nakamura shined in his main roster debut. He suffered because his shot at the title was against Jinder Mahal, which was hurting everyone. And, WWE ruined what should have been a classic with Nakamura vs Style, with the stupid crotch shots
All these Japanese guys know they can basically steal money from AEW
"The Hardly Boys! Two young whippersnappers with a knack for solving mysteries!"
No human being can watch this and defend it, but Dave will!
Wait till Jim reads Adam Pearce’s tweet about Jackie Redmond “fearing for her life” because of McIntyre.
😂😂😂 did he really tweet that
@@christiandiaz8512 "Poor Jackie feared for her life" yeah he did. You know it gets under the skin of the little cucks and Tiny Tony.
@@christiandiaz8512 oh yeah, I saw the screen shot! And the thing is Jackie had more of a reason to be afraid with McIntyre running loose and was taking it better than the Khan Man did when that monitor got knocked over! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Given how pissed McIntyre was acting after tossing 2 refs and elbowing the GM of Raw after hijacking the post-show, yeah I don't blame him.
I was in the crowd when that happened too.
Brian you're gonna have to start giving Okada that same energy you give Rock 💀
Why isn’t joe a dominant main event heel? Why is jay white stuck doing preliminary trios feuds? Why is Claudio a stooge In a stupid faction ?
Why is Tony still booking?
Why is AEW???
Good Question
I can honestly say, this match absolutely sucked. AEW has no future other than shitty gimmick matches with no story.
Cornette has to drop an album before he passes.
And be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame
At least drop a musical omnibus
WWE should _never_ worry about signing someone just so Tony won’t get them. Tony misuses and kills the excitement for everyone and is no threat, regardless of who he hires. The only exception was Punk.
And IMO Will Osprey...
Hold on Brian Last, at least Rey Mysterio had a great look and physique. The Bucks look like 1970's Walmart Hippies.
Rey rarley botch a move in his prime plus he was way smaller
You can't compare any current wrestler with Rey.
Rey actually knew how to slow down and sell in between moves instead of just doing constant moves at a fast pace.
Aew is nothing more than an indie promotion with money period. It’s a mark owner with mark wrestlers performing gymnastics for a bunch of internet mark goofs.
From the start all AEW was ever gonna be is PWG with a bigger budget
It's not ALL the wrestlers. Just the top 10%....
I thought Cornette would mention Max rapping how the Buckerooos killed Okada’s career.
He's gonna get heat for that
The Yakuza is shaking down Tony Khan he thinks they’re his friends
7:23 "You actually see Casper peak over the apron, and then sees it's not time and then ducks back down. And yet the FRONT ROW IS LOOKING AT YOU!" lolll. Love Cornette.
The Acclaimed went from ‘over’ to yawn inducing.
TK maneuver. You get over by yourself, and he books you so poorly you're boring to your audience.
To be fair, that’s literally everyone who was once over at AEW. It never takes long for Tony to screw it up and derail momentum.
@@namelessjedi2242 No one can argue that! Tony Con if he wasn’t rich could have a job as a fireman. Where’s Wardlow?
@philanderphillips2309 Tony couldn't hack it as a fireman. A family would die in a house fire and he'll say he feared for his life when asked why he didn't save them.
As a big Rey Mysterio fan, and with Brian bringing him up, the differences between Rey and the Bucks are endless. Rey was booked as the ultimate underdog and has been one of the biggest babyfaces of the last 20+ years. When you watch Rey, you know you're watching the GMOAT. If you watch 1 Bucks match, then you've seen them all. And when you really get down to it, Rey Mysterio is such a cooler name than Matt and Nick Jackson ffs. Apologies for the rant.
Rey is one of the best sellers of work ever and he wears a mask
Rey also bulked up when he got that main event push.
Plus Rey Mysterio had a hell of a physique for his height and size. Dude was 5’3 (booked as 5’6) and 175 and had freaking abs and huge biceps and could powerbomb bigger guys like Gregory helms and taijiri, and in matches with big guys like big show and Kane, Rey sold like just a shove from them would remove his spine and the fans were on the edge of their seats for him and holding their breath praying Rey wins somehow.
How the hell can Brian last even compare Rey to the bucks with a straight face
'No one cares at all'
If that's the verdict here, I can't wait for the ZSJ match review. Crowd were SILENT
ZSJ said it himself - trying to show Americans technical British wrestling is like trying to teach Shakespeare to a dog.
@@duckmercy11last time I read Shakespeare he wasn't boring as a fricking gray Qtip 😂😂😂
@duckmercy11 horseshit. Gunther does it and people love it.
ZSJ is trash
@@duckmercy11so what you're saying is that he sucks so bad that he already has a quote ready to defend his work. Shakespeare is actually interesting.
@@eilidhchatswrestling All of you dudes hating on him have probably seen two watered down matches in aew lol. Please. His work is incredible and unique from what everyone else is doing. You're just hating because you don't like AEW. Stop it.

Everytime I see Tanahshi in a match nowadays, he moves around the ring like he’s in constant pain. It’s so damn hard to watch😂
Definitely don't wanna see anymore matches from him. He was great in his prime (2010s) but he refused to take time off to heal injuries and now he's paying the price for it. I still watch his old matches tho.
Not like he is constant pain, but he is in constant pain.
It's sad to see him struggle so much because he was great in his day.
I bet he's got piles or shit his pants to walk around like that. It's so bad
100% agreed. The new japan guys they sent cant move. They look like vince taking a stunner. It makes the matches look super phony that other wrestlers have sell their terrible offense. And guys waiting outside for their cue is another issue. I was at the show and the acclaimed were crawling out the floor forever waiting. Another annoying thing; the new japan guys dont pay attention to tags and half of the matches end with someone not legal being in finish.
I was confused when Caster said bitch a lot but thanks to Cornette and Last now I understand why he said a lot
RIHHHOOO and Dwarf Dong Sucker is Back somebody needs to tell Cornette the wonderful news 😂😂😂
Look what they've done to the show created for punk 😂
@@JT-fz2xypunk is laughing at how awful collison has been since tony khan feared for his life and fired the biggest star that made collison watchable I haven't watched an episode since that happened and I won't now that marko stunted growth returned.
This on the night the WWE had PUNK fuck the whole main event RAW scene OH MY GOD "HEY TONY KHAN HOW YOU DOIN?"
@@athanaskozhuharov9700lol that was great man AEW collison is gonna get an even lower rating since nobody was watching it over money in the bank also punk screwed seth rollins and drew mcintyre in the same match.
@@benespinosa6725 He also made Damian look like a putz which is why he said to the Judgment Day to stay away. PAPA H IS COOKING!
Every time I see Okada I think of Kevin James in Grown Ups is playing Chris Farley's part.
Okada is playing Codys part in this bad movie.
Now that you have said that, I can picture Farley. He would have been magnificent.
Uh no. Cody took his style (and main event credibility) from Okada, not the other way around.
That's just sad lol. Kevin James didn't deserve that lol.
It's also like all the Battle Royals AEW has, after the initial melee we got a dozen guys laying around the ring "shaking it off" while two guys are showcasing in the center, as soon as one of the two gets knocked for a loop or eliminated one of the guys laying around miraculously regains their feet.
I’m waiting on the full podcast episode come on Jim!!!!!
Nick is alright. Matt, I can’t stand.
What makes Nick more tolerable than Matt?
@@skooobz Nick doesn’t come off like a know it all douche who’s play acting. Matt just talks and talks and talks and feels so staged. Nick actually feels genuine when he’s playing his character. And he’s a better, less phony looking wrestler too.
2024-25 in WWE Okada coulda had the biggest year ever! Guarantee that we’d see something with him Shinsuke, AJ, and maybe Balor… now that Cena is announced his final run we’d prolly got Okada vs Cena too, Okada vs Orton, Gunther, Drew, Cody, Seth, KO, Zayn, Gable and so on the list is endless and way better then his AEW choices! And this ain’t even goin into story ideas, I’m jus listing matches that would no doubt be great
He would probably said to Trips: Sore wa watashiniha umaku ikimasen, bitch!
(That doesn't work with me, bitch!)
😅😅😅
I don't know if Okada can really go in the ring anymore. It looks like his body has broken down.
Okada and Tanahashi just show how Japanese wrestling can be amazing but it for the most part absolutely destroys the talent
8 years ago-ish Okada was fantastic!
Last time I tried to watch njpw he wasn't the same. Not giving aew the view to see now
But he signed up for this nonsense. No sympathy 🤣
Can’t wait for Jim to review the return of Dwarf Dong Sucker!
They think Japan=Over.
You know when a vignette happened in NXT when eventually it became Shawn Spears I was hoping to god it was Okada, because I heard good stuff with him, but now I couldn’t care less what he does. I get a little chuckle when he says bitch but that’s about it.
I think injuries have really caught up to him and hurt his in-ring work, and Tony Khan seemingly doesn't know how to keep anyone over. Okada was great (probably one of the best wrestlers in the world) in NJPW
@@BiggieTrismegistus I truly believe if WWE was successful in getting Okada, him and Shinsuke would be a very scary solid tag team, so you are right about injury and TK, but damn I always think what could have been.
Most of us had seen Okada's matches in NJPW. If not better he's as good as Kenny Omega n Seth Rollins as long as wrestling capabilities are concerned! But AEW has done an incredible job of making him a laughing stock! He looks like the Asian tour manager of the buckaroo kids!
I can’t wait to hear Jim’s review of Jeff Jarret flipping out on Tony Kahn that was fucking great 😂
Did Tony cower in the corner ?
@@chuckles9767 it was a pretty good rant he complains about the bbc Moxley and the bitch okada 😂
When was this? I gotta see lol
If wwe signed Okody and had him doing a broken english goof gimmick the freakazoids would drone on about how raaaaaaaayciiisst it was
AEW still trying to live off the hype that new Japan had in the mid 2010’s
They are kind of living off the past. Let's face it. No matter if you liked the Bucks or you didn't like the Bucks in 2014 or so, at this point in 2024, their style is outdated.
I’ve heard the name Okada for years. AEW is my first exposure of him. Safe to say I have no opinion and he’s just another guy.
Same
Collision last night looked like AEW from 2019 and 2020 with Marko , Riho, Jungle Boy and Hangman.
I agree with Cornette. I don't understand the kneeling on the outside the ring. Punch your opponent and sell a hit out there while u are watching for a queue.
No one can outrun Tony Kahn's booking.
Yup, doesn't feel like a big deal at all. Sure he doesn't give a flip as long as tony keeps mailing him a check.
As an NJPW fan it didn't hit me until the hot tag that this is what Tanahashi vs Okada has become. An Ace that can't move anymore and Okada being a part of the worst faction I've ever seen.
I'm not a huge NJPW fan but I've seen a fair number of matches featuring Tanahashi and Okada (against each other and other people). They were absolutely amazing back in the day. It sucks that many Americans will only know them from their time working with AEW.
For the sake of Jim's blood vessels nobody tell him that Marco stunt is back in AEW😅
Thank goodness Jim no longer watches Collision.
No one does, it's wack. Just Rampage 2.0.
Since I’ve first seen bowens wrestle, there’s something special about him. He’s got a ton of athletic talent, I’d be happy to see him in nxt, he’s got a lot of natural charisma as well.
I’ve no doubt he’d do well at NXT/WWE.
The "CM Punk" protest chant has migrated companies 😂
Bucks only got over on the indies cuz they were a “tribute band”
Bucks are examples of guys that work seeing them few and far between, seen one match seen them all
Before AEW, I loved watching Okada’s matches. But his booking here…just like Jay Lethal, Andrade, Miro, Bryan Danielson etc. their value gets circumcised.
7:31 PREACH BROTHER!!!
I was at the show. Definitely was a CM Punk chant but subdued.
the cm punk chants will get louder i'm sure.
JC makes a good point: it is an illusion we want to have- don’t insult your audience by over-emphasizing the fakeness
“Leg drop both the bucaroos tiny little nuts” - hahahhahahahhahahhaha
man i didn’t want to watch the match at first but jim’s review got me intrigued Lol
O’Cody is setting money on fire for AEW! Because he wreslter like 80 year old man!
Tanahashi could barely walk. Okada gets 4.5 million a year. The Bucks make 3 million a year
Seeing Tanahashi like that was tough because he was _great_ back in the day. It sucks that a lot of American fans are only seeing past-their-primes Tanahashi and Okada
I don't follow NJPW so I have no idea what O'Cody 😂 used to be like but, he hasnt impressed me since he's come to AEW! Waste of money? 🤷🤦
He was much better in NJPW, his matches with Omega and Naito were great.
It's astonishing how quickly Tony has made Okada look like...nothing.
I'm convinced Shinsuke Nakamura was the smartest dude of his generation in New Japan. That dude got out while the getting was good and will still be able to walk when he's 60.
People think he's being wasted? Because he didn't want to end up half crippled?
If Okada went to WWE instead, I’m fairly certain he would have been NXT Champion, or the North American Champion by now. He’s just another name with a bloated salary in the AEW roster. How sad.
I disagree on the part about WWE only wanting Okada to keep him from AEW. Triple H and HBK wanted him for years. I have no doubt that they would've put him in the main event picture with Gunther and Rollins. Probably with Nakamura as his manager. He would've been a major star.
He was something at one point, but just like White, AEW dropped the ball.
Nakamura signed with WWE when he was Okada's current age. He also speaks better English and is more charismatic than Okada. If WWE wouldn't or couldn't make Nakamura a bigger star how in the world could they do anything with Okada?
@duckmercy11 Blame Vince for that. Nakamura had a ton of hype behind him in NXT, and that carried over to the main roster for a bit. Then Vince stepped in. Just like he did with Asuka and Kairi.
Jim Cornette needs a whole album of his singing especially the cult of personality lol
This is the worst okada since his Kato days in tna
O-Kato is leagues better than this AEW 💩.
@@vonVile lmfao someone needs to feed this nickname to jim
And Meltzer gave this match almost 4 stars. Shows you how serious his match ratings are.
I've been looking forward to this one, lol.
I don't get how people hate Okada. The hate is because he is in AEW and he's trying something with his heel gimmick! He's being funny while also being an Elite Jackass! Wrestling can have comedic relief Corny!
I thought the exact same thing last night at the end of the 6 man tag. Kevin Owens kept peeking up into the ring and going back down and it was distracting.
Was he selling?
Yeah I can't stand that shit from either company. Idk why people started doing that dumb shit in wrestling
@@TimTE01 not very well obviously.
O'Cody was a bigger waste of money than Mercedes "Groan!"........."Thanks Guy's!" 😑👈
They are going to Japan later this month I think. I saw Cody's dates that he puts up each month.
Compared to Bischoff’s evisceration of the Bucks in this match, this was a Meltzer 7 star review
Rey Mysterio had a hell of a physique for his height and size.
TRAVIS UP IN SMOKE 😮❤
Half of these nj guys look like war vets
I know his look and physique isn’t exactly menacing…but man Okada used to be an absolute spectacle and attraction, and put on some fantastic matches. It’s a damn shame what’s happened to him.
I think with Okada, he is only as good or bad as he is booked and presented as. Which is different than someone who can get over no matter how badly they are booked and presented as or someone who can't get over no matter how well they are booked and presented as. Good or bad. Bad in this case. Okada seem like he just kind of goes with whatever people tell him.
Tanahashi used to be amazing as well but now he moves like some who is obviously in quite a bit of pain.
The profound sadness that corny had to see this version of Okada that the bucks want to latch on to for legitimacy rather than the 2016 version that was genuinely the best active pro wrestler walking the earth,
Agreed. I don't watch much NJPW but Okada and Tanahashi were always worth checking out. It's sad to see them reduced to this.
Money and miles, marks.
Money and miles.
It is amazing how many PPVs the Elite have spent in random tag matches. It isn't that they have moved away from the main event, it's just that since Tony has to get every angle onto the show, people go from headlining one month to 'storage' the next. Every program has extra matches in it.
If Okada had gone to WWE, the expectations and standards for how he'd be presented and booked would be astronomically higher. No-one would've accepted this mid-card comedy goof Okada bs.
Ngl, if i was at any wrestling event & seen a 6 man tag with any of the participants "selling" outside of the ring & then peeking up on the apron to wait for their cue to re-enter the ring I'd laugh my ass off
Jim singing Phil Collins is brilliant 😂
Hey can someone tell me what happened to malakai and Brody ik buddy is off tv for rn. Just curious if these guys are wwe bound or not
jim makes a good point that wwe was really only interested in him as an inroad to japan.
No millie
Just wondering. If they don't peep to see where the match is at, how would said wrestler know when to go back into the ring, or it's their turn?
What if aew had bron breaker 😮😮😮😮??
They would bury him in a few weeks
Why is a picture of okada here exactly I thought he retired from wrestling earlier this year
Firebreaker Chip is now more over than Okada.
The ducking down on the side of the ring also happens on WWE. I'm not sure about any other promotions. I see wrestlers get knocked off the edge of the apron and stay down for five to ten minutes yet when they get hit with a finishing move and get up on a two count.
Somebody tell Brian Last that grampa Minoru Suzuki collapsed on a japan match this week 😰
Ugh it’s a shame what they did to Okada and Tanshashi. As for Okada, he’s definitely on vacation and just collecting a check. He would have to give a crap if in WWE but in AEW he can do whatever he wants. He’s phoning it in.
Everything is great guys wait till Cena joins

Aside from the horrific booking Tony's got to be the worst of all time for pushing unover mean nothing friends into big positions too - Bucks, Okada, Hangman, Perry.
The acclaimed got ruined with the bang bang scissors gang
