Just chopped my thai constellation yesterday. I also chopped some of the roots because they’re very large and healthy. Will the chopped roots also grow shoots eventually? I think the answer is yes but I’m just worried that I did the wrong thing because I haven’t seen videos or articles about growing from thai constellation chopped roots. Thanks!

I know how you feel, I cut my Monstera "Albo-Variegata" a few weeks ago and just found roots growing at the bottom of one of the pots and got really excited :D The difference was since they had strong aerial roots I potted them directly and it seems it worked! I do live in Costa Rica, a pretty humid place so that makes a difference for sure.

@@MandiMomOf8Channel check your local hardware stores, supermarkets, sometimes they can get nice Monsteras. You should see the Monstera I found at Fred Meyers (local supermarket) its 2 meters in diameter, 20 leaves nearly the size of my torso and 4 feet tall, for 30 bucks.

I use the wide mouth quart jars too! They really help support larger sized cuttings and I can put leca clay balls in there as well...

If put in cuttings directly into soil after big root is finger length mine just started to turn its leafs up meaning its very much alive and growing now.
This is so helpful! My Medusa-like Monstera cluster is out of control big - over 4 feet tall with my sloppy staking, and I can't even measure the diameter. I wasn't really sure what to do with it, and am worried it can't be super healthy with the weight on some of the arms. This gave me a great idea for my office. About 15 of us (out of 250) returned to the office in June 2021 after having been out since March 2020, and we hope to bring everyone else back this spring. Most people left their plants behind thinking we'd be back after a few weeks. That was an eerie discovery - even the bamboo. :( I'm going to replace the deads with Monstera babies. Oddly, one person also had a little jar of sea monkeys and two of the four survived in the dark office. Go figure. I hope to have a small jungle by April.

Do Thai Constellations have an axillary bud or "eye?" I propagated mine and can't seem to find the bud but there is a bump by the aerial root.

I’ve just got two albo cuttings. I started propagating in perlite but both started rotting so now moved to water and one is still rotting. How do you avoid this? I really don’t want to lose my cuttings!!

Hello I really NEED HELP with my Monstera Deliciosia .. Monstera End of the stem started rotting. And it had just one mushy Arial root... I had no choice but to cut the stem just right there.. will it survive. ?? Can send u a pic
Awesome roots! Quick question, did you have to change the water ever so often when propagating your cutting?
When I propagate my plants, I do change the water weekly or so, (whenever it starts to look cloudy). I'll rinse off the roots in the sink., rinse out the jar, and refill it with fresh water. The reason is, you don't really want bacteria growing especially when the cutting has gone through the initial "shock" from being cut off, and also as it's growing and becoming its own plant.

Your Thai constellations is very beautiful! You are very brave to chop it all up. I have a juvenile plant and it hasn't produced very large leaf, though I like it a lot. I been looking for the thai monstera but it's hard as finding Toilet paper! Any recommendations? Love to get some cuttings. And couple days ago I saw someone selling seed of monstera is it even real? Seeds? Lol

I didn't - I just put them straight into water. I think I would add rooting hormone/cinnamon if I was doing soil propagation or sphagnum propagation but the water wipes it all away.

I often wondered if adding seaweed or fish emulsion fertilizer would help cutting grow roots faster. So, I'm anxious to know if that works for you. Would the addition of the seaweed fertilizer required the water to be changed more often or is it about the same? I always learn a lot from your videos and appreciate you taking the time making them!
It's an interesting question. I've been changing the water on my plants I'm propagating (with or without seaweed) every three or four days. I find in either situation, there begins to be a bit bacteria/microorganism build up, but it's especially more evident with seaweed. I've added seaweed to Rhaphidophora cuttings in the past with no harm but I don't know 100% SURE that it's helpful, but it hasn't been harmful. Best answer I can give so far!

Wow so many Thai babes! Random question, do you top dress for aesthetic or for fungus gnat prevention?
Well all my Monsteras were seriously floppy and were constantly trying to fall/jump out of their pots. I added the top dressing to both weigh the pots down and also solidify their stake. It also helps the soil stay consistently moist AND the gravel keeps the soil from pouring out when I'm watering. I chose 1/2"-3/4" gravel because it still allows some ventilation. If I had a fungus gnat issue, I would probably not do a top dressing so that the soil can dry out completely and kill those little dudes.
Heya, do you have to let the cut dry first? I'm afraid that it gets moldy and my cutting would die =(
DreamRice personally i only let cacti and succulents dry and callous. Haven’t had rotting issues - just make sure you use clean water!
