Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery is located at 660 Thompson Lane in Nashville, Tennessee. It is one of the largest cemeteries in Nashville.
Among those interred or entombed in the cemetery, there are many prominent members of the country music genre and their families.
In June 2018, Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery installed the "Lynn Anderson Rose Garden", consisting of 200 Lynn Anderson Hybrid Rose Bushes (named for the singer by the National Rose Society of America), as a place of reflection and meditation in honor of the star's signature song.
Tammy Wynette, born Virginia Wynette Pugh; May 5, 1942 - April 6, 1998), was an American country music singer-songwriter and one of country music's best-known artists and biggest-selling female singers. Wynette was called the "First Lady of Country Music", and her best-known song, "Stand by Your Man", is one of the best-selling hit singles by a woman in the history of country music. Many of her hits dealt with classic themes of loneliness, divorce, and the difficulties of life and relationships. During the late 1960s and early 1970s, Wynette charted 20 number-one songs on the Billboard Country Chart. Along with Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton, she is credited with having defined the role of women in country music during the 1970s.
Wynette's marriage to country music singer George Jones in 1969 created a country music "couple", following the earlier success of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash. Though they divorced in 1975, the couple recorded a sequence of albums and singles together that hit the charts throughout the 1970s and early 1980s.
George Glenn Jones (September 12, 1931 - April 26, 2013) was an American musician, singer and songwriter. He achieved international fame for his long list of hit records, including his best-known song "He Stopped Loving Her Today", as well as his distinctive voice and phrasing. For the last twenty years of his life, Jones was frequently referred to as the greatest living country singer. Country music scholar Bill Malone writes, "For the two or three minutes consumed by a song, Jones immerses himself so completely in its lyrics, and in the mood it conveys, that the listener can scarcely avoid becoming similarly involved." Waylon Jennings expressed a similar opinion in his song "It's Alright": "If we all could sound like we wanted to, we'd all sound like George Jones." The shape of his nose and facial features earned Jones the nickname "The Possum"

My mother dated Jimmy Dickens in the early 1940s, before he married his first wife Connie. My mother would talk about their friendship from time to time. She always said that "he was a funny and kind person."

Little Jimmy Dickens also discovered Marty Robbins when he was touring in Phoenix, Arizona and Marty Robbins was his opening act there, then later convinced him to leave Phoenix and move to Nashville to start up his own singing career.

Ok, that George Jones section blows me away. Whoever designed the layout of it was a genius! Notice how George is at the very front as if on stage, with 2 what looks to be solar powered spotlights aimed at his headstone. Smaller, more forward and off to his right is Johnny Paycheck who has a single solar powered spotlight and although you didn't show all the graves in this section, it appears that everyone else isn't a performer so they are facing both George and Johnny and none of their headstones have spotlights. It's kind of set up like a stage with the audience in front of them and spotlights on the entertainers. Clever!

How could you not stop and do time at the grave of Billy Sherill? He wrote and co-wrote and produced some of the biggest country/pop hits of the last 60 years including what is condidered the greatest country song ever recorded "Stand By Your Man" with Tammy Wynette. He also produced and wrote "The Most Beautiful Girl" and "Behind Closed Doors" with Charlie Rich. He is well regarded as one of the top 5 producers/songwriters in the history of Nashville with Owen Bradley among others. IMO

It's very nice with a guest book just for Lynn Anderson fans, etc. They said the family opted for that vs. stuff taped to the face of her marker, etc. Very tastefully done. Tammy Wynette and Lynn Anderson were the main two I wanted to see in the mausoleum.

As many times I've been to Nashville, I've never been to Wood Lawn. But then, the last time I was there, most of the peoples graves you showed were still alive 💙. And I saw most at The Grand Ole Opry. Thanks for sharing 🌹

Did you not see the massive "Lynn Anderson Rose Garden" installed fairly recently? It's up by the actual funeral home itself, filled with over a 100+ "Lynn Anderson Roses" (she had her own rose named for her by the Amer. Rose Soc.). It's beautiful with a big plaque with her name on it.

I must have missed this video, thanks for sharing mang! I got to know Johnny Paycheck very well when he lived here close to me. well enough to get invited to his house only a few miles from where I live now. I set up one of his guitars a Strat if I remember correctly.
