  • Here I try out Testors Model Master Metalizer Paints. The entire Model Master line up has been discontinued and I wanted to test them before it's too late and you can't get them anymore. And after searching for a metal paint to compete with Alclad , I might have found one that can,
If you like what you see then you better order some before they're gone forever

These were my absolute favorite paints. I have become anti Rust Oleum since they took a modeling stable off the market! Personally I thought their brand of paint sucks to start with. Every other summer my father & I would outside metal furniture & stoop railings & I didn't care for the paint. I have used Model Master for years & never had a problem with these paints. The military line were spot on. There acrylics line I thought were the best & easiest to use. I'm not happy with the other types of paint for models out there. I like the Testor's enamels, I grew up modeling with them. My father used my Model Master metallic paints with his woodworking finish for accenting. I hated when they stopped Floquil paints, then they stopped Polly Scale paints. Those were favorites for model railroaders (I'm one). Krylon is used on model r/r rolling stock & buildings.

Well I have some news for you. I'm producing my own personal line of paints and they're enamels just like Model Master. In fact the company I'm working with is replicating the Model Master FS military paint line up. These paints perform as good as Model Master. I'll be doing a video test of them within a week or so

Yes, I watch a video where someone else mentioned to eliminate splattering is to keep the air flowing on all the time. And then at the end of each line just release the paint trigger but keep pressed down to keep the air flowing. It looks like your technique is to release the button trigger at the end of each line and restart a little ahead of where you want to paint by pressing the air first then pulling back to release the paint.

    • @barbatosrex9473

When I keep the trigger punched down the entire time it causes my air compressor to run constantly, interfering with the video. I start the air and paint off the piece then come across. If you start the paint and air off piece then that will also avoid the splat effect. UT then that's just me 👍😉

It looks good! I have about 3 metals from MM and the sealer that i havent tried yet, i really like the aluminum plate and gunmetal, even the other colors will be very useful in certain situations, my hobby lobby has them i think im going to wipe out their stock.
PS thanks for trying the spoon test as well and for your reviews.

I tried the stainless steel one, the one that says airbrush only. So what did i do? I brushed it on a cowling and buffed afterwards. I must say the result is really really good, so it SUCKS that these paints are OOP. Good thing i grabbed a six pack of them on ebay before they vanished.

Model master also sold a clear sealer that was to be used only on there buffable paint

  • @gordonyork6638

Why did you not buff just half of at least one of them for direct comparison? You buffed all of them!

Once all stock is gone, it's gone. Good news is there's a bunch still floating around but grab anything you can when you come across it

Does Rust-oleum Painter's Touch 2X clear gloss (spray can) mess those up? I'm wondering if we can make non-buffing aluminum + 2X clear look similar to Tamiya gloss aluminum spray paint.

Not super impressed. Color is alright. But the shine is nothing to write home about. Alclad and ipp paint look better. It’s not reflective enough. It should look like metal. Not paint. This looks like paint.
