Watching them walk out to that bus always gives me a chill because of the famous video of the Challenger crew doing the same thing. I believe NASA has never changed the vehicle either so it's the very same bus that carried the Challenger crew to their doom. It would be so eerie to ride it.
@efapostle no one is blurred.
it's a typical video-compression effect which appears in low-contrast situations and a low bit-rates.
which is also why TH-cam's 1080p videos look nothing like a bluRay for example, because YT's bit-rate is ridiculously low for a 1080p resolution.
What will NASA use after the shuttle is retired?
super engine sound
@Yayakills The Space Shuttle has an absurdly larger amount of mass than a bottle rocket. Think of it like a car vs a hot wheels with a relatively sized rocket strapped to it... the car wont go crazy when the rocket burns out & would continue in the line it was going until the energy of upward motion ran away (which it doesn't on the shuttle b/c of the main orange fuel tank and engines) where as a hot wheels would go crazy because it doesn't have a great amount of mass to hold it on it's course.
Gosh I wish I was smart enough to be an astronaut!
damn, i missed the live coverage, shit. i thought it had to be in march
@Yayakills the main reason is that every aspect of the launch is controlled. You have no control over the thrust your bottle puts out nor do you have control over the flight path. The shuttle is controlled by computers and pilots.
@TheGhostOfSabotage magic! :D

I've seen dozens of shuttle launches, but this one video really gives the impression of how much thrust is produced and how the fast the whole stack gets up to speed. Awesome! An elegant system, I'm really sad to see the shuttle era end.
