      A dirt cheap USB HDMI capture card is like 60$ Canadian on it's own 180$ isn;t unreasonable what with the extra powering options and the likes. We also don;t know what the chipsets compression is like. Really wish he would have gone into more detail about the bitrate of the record 1080p files .

    • @DerSchaddan
      @DerSchaddan ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@EricLefebvrePhotography I've read that it's 8 bit Video, nothing about bitrate or format though. I think 50$ is asking a bit much... Personally I'd buy it it if was 100$.
      Cheap monitors are not as bright as my iPhone 12 and have annoying control schemes - it has to be cheaper then the runner up, because let's face it: If you want to make a video, your phone is going to be a lot more useful when it's not doing something else the whole time. You know, like making a call, or googling something if you are in a pinch. Or using it as navigation when you are driving on location. Even if I'm using public transport my ticket is on my phone... Also I doubt that a phone will last as long when it's powered of a NPF/LPE6 Type Battery, like a dedicated monitor would. For 180$ you can buy a decent monitor like the Portkeys PT5 II for example. The cost saving need to outweigh the inconvenience of not being able to use your phone for the time being.
      The android version is availble for 100 usd, wondering if the price will come down for the iPhone version, or if it's just so much more expensive to license accessories for apple

    The 1080p recroding ot the phone is great for cameras that have the hardcap. I don;t do a lot of longer recordings so dropping 800$ Canadian an a ninja V for the one or two shoots a year where I need one seems a little wasteful.
    200$ to use my Android phone on the other hand (yes, there is an android version of this).
    If you are someone who needs to do a long recording on an older DSLR for your kids play ... 1080p isn;t bad unless the bit rate is utter garbage.
    I'm just curious about bitrate, audio compression and so on so forth. Kind of sad you didn;t go into more detail on the technical specs of the video files.
    I found a few Atomos wannabe devices ... some of them seem actually decentish like the ClonerAlliance ViewPro (it's rebadged under a few other names as well). I think a ocmparison of a ClonerAlliance ViewPro VS an Atomos Ninja VS Accsoon SeeMo would be an interesting video.

    Interesting product. I checked out the website and it is due to be released in a couple days.
    Low confidence in this product though. There is ZERO information on compatibility with various cameras or phones.
    For instance will it work with different kinds of HDMI or is it like some lower end monitors only supporting lower bitrate/bitdepth.
    Does the app only run on latest IOS or can we repurpose our older iPads/iPhones?
    I've got an old iPAd Mini I'd love to use this for, but not going to spend $180 to see if it works or not.
    Also especially important is bit depth. My Fuji can output a higher quality HDMI than it can record.

      Not iPhone. You will need an MFi-certified USB to HDMI adapter since iOS doesn't support the UVC protocol. SeeMo is the only one on the market.

    Was very intrigued until I saw the 180$ price. The whole point of this is to save you money. As said by others, a 50$ price tag would have been terrific. For those of you out there looking for a cheap monitor option thay doesn't suck, you can get a Portkeys PT5 monitor for 150$

      SeeMo is more than just a monitor! Recording and live streaming can be costly if you also get dedicated hardware. SeeMo is 4 devices in one: a production monitor that you can load 3D LUTs from the cloud, an HDMI recorder that you can edit and share directly, a live streaming device with built-in wireless connections, and a camera viewfinder.
