I’ve watched a ton of videos lately cuz my fur baby got so matted while I was away & ur by far the most gentle & informative channel I’ve come across!!!! Thank you!!!!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge I am a first time goldendoodle owner and I am struggling with his hair care. Your demonstration was the best I've watched.Again, Thank you Stacey
I have a large Labradoodle with a curly wool coat. I find it so hard to keep him mat free. He is so curly that once his coat gets a little longer he gets ringlets. I have spent the past 4 years clipping him right back but I'm hoping the tips in your videos will allow me to keep his coat a little longer. Thank you for offering non-judgemental and educational videos.
I had the same problem with my shih tzu… changed her food to BARF, major difference. No more mats, no more dog smell. I have her in long coat and she is gorgeous
As a dog groomer myself, I wish all my clients would take the time to watch this video. Because let me tell you, almost NOBODY brushes their dog between appointments! And then they act offended when we have to tell them their dog is matted... Sigh. It's a tough job. But I have SO much appreciation for the dog owners that do try at home brushing, makes such a difference. Great video and thank you!
These videos are definitely very helpful to doodle owners like me! Wish I would’ve realized how important the brushing is with our previous poodles. I still lack confidence on the trimming, but the “you can do it” helps! 😊 thanks!
As a doodle owner, it’s so nice to have the reminders of what we should be doing and how to do it! I even ask my groomer if there is anything I need to work on, but She just seems to appreciate that she is brushed. 🙂
First time watching this video and it’s so fantastic and clear. I’m getting all new equipment based on this video. I have a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier with an American coat. What a nightmare coat!! I’ve had a Golden Retriever, a Black Russian Terrier and I have never had a problem with maintaining their coats in-between grooming appointments. Our Wheaten mats behind the ears, chest, and tail. Plus our area is dealing with groomer shortages. Perfect storm. He runs from me now when he sees I’m ready to brush him. I use to be critical when owners would let there dogs get so matted. Karma!
At 5 dollars an ounce, this stuff better work. I use Burt's Bees same outcome. The trick is to stay ahead of tangles. Fall behind and get ready to shave.
Getting a f1b goldendoodle in about 5 more weeks! I am totally planning on keep my doodle kept up in between grooming appointments and your videos are amazing for people who want to have a great plan in place for that! Thank you for all the great tips!!
“He’s a real sissy” 😂 we love honesty!! Just got a golden doodle a few days ago, he has his first groom this morning so I’m getting all the info I can to keep him tidy! Ur great 😊
Thank you so much for your videos! You’re have been the most helpful and non judge mental /relatable ones I’ve found and you make it so easy to Understand the tools and easy tweaks and techniques to keep My doodle girl feeling and looking good! It’s sometimes overwhelming with the super curly doodle coat and you’ve completely changed brushing for me and my super Curly doodle girl. Now I know I’m taking good care of her coat between grooms And I can’t thank you enough It’s honestly been life Changing and it’s something we bond over kind of now
I have been binge watching your videos since discovering your channel earlier this evening, and I already have so many new products in my basket on amazon and chewy. I am so excited to finally be able to keep up with my pups maintenance needs! You've made the seemingly daunting task of maintaining coats and sanitation look so much easier with the products you use. I've already saved probably more than 1000 dollars (probably 1500 or more actually) by grooming my dogs myself, but man its tough sometimes when they have matts I don't know how to deal with or they get gunk in their ears. Your channel has seriously made me feel so much better about it!
I have the hardest time with keeping the mats combed out on my miniature black poodle, I can get those curls straightened out and five minutes later you can't tell I've done anything to Toby's coat. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. 🙂👍👍
Oh my he has undercoat and yet kinda curly. Mine is a small mini poodle (just an inch or slightly less than a toy poodle,so he is small enough to comb every single day without too much work. I use just one tool daily, a comb with rotating teeth so tiny knots if any, will not hurt. I also check in between the grooves of the paws, as he is like a cat that grooms his feet. I got a real poodle, no undercoat (one of us has allergies to shedding dogs/dander). i have his hair cut short so he can last the 8week schedule, our combing is thus easier without using the slicker. Groomer certainly appreciates no mats.
I have an 18-month-old Sheepadoodle. I love watching your videos. I enjoy grooming my boy. I got a grooming table etc., for Christmas from my husband and kids. 😍
You are great!...I'm new with this beautiful doggies...I need to clip my golden doodle because is already to matted...but promise I will do the maintenance next time..your doggie is so beautiful..thanks
Thank you for sharing your video with us. I found this very helpful. I have a 7 mo doodle and I have groomed him at home 4 times already, the first two he didn’t liked it. He hated the madding bridle brush every time I brush him and started running.😅
You did an awesome job and thank you for your time sharing! FYI: A horse brush works pretty good too! I agree can’t have to many tools in your arsenal, looking forward to trying that Kenzie brush out. Have a mixed wiener dog, a mini doodle and will be bringing another doodle home in a month that is supposed to get 80 to 90 lbs. Also heard from my mom baby oil or coconut oil also helps get the mats out, they have a farm and are Morgan horse/ dog breeders and travel all over doing shows, I usually ask them for advice and been struggling with the matting issues myself which brought me to your channel. ALSO I’m trying to prepare as we are excitedly waiting for our new member of the family, kinda feels like I’m going through that nesting thing when your expecting a baby where you just want to be as prepared as much as possible . All the excitement and nervousness of waiting for a baby to be born and bring home!
Thank you so much for this video..I have a Goldendoodle and try and keep him up between the 6 week grooming appt. I ordered the tangle-remover spray and it is WONDERFUL. I also ordered the pin brush......trying to keep him up so as to make life easier for our groomer! Thank you again...SO MUCH! (FOLLOWING YOU!)💗
I’m getting my sweet baby Bernedoodle in one week! You are wonderful. I bought the 5 in One right away. I also purchased slicker brush and a metal comb.I still need to get the pin brush!
I only have double coated dogs, and generally am not a doodle person, but WOW!!! Its so lovely to see what these dogs can be like with proper grooming!! The clean face also goes such a long way to looking neat and tidy! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks! Very helpful , I brush my doodle almost daily , I discovered Mats behind his ears , I’m so suprized I never noticed them before. Made me worried as a new owner lol
Your pups feet and nails are sooo clean. No matter what I do my doodle’s feet look clawish. My doodle moves and fidgets and is mouthy at any grooming tools I use. 😅
Mine was too But I got a kong donut looking toy with ridges or A lick mat and put dog safe peanut butter on it and started brushing for Like 5-10 mins and increasing it gradually. She’s so much better and happier Now even without the kong
Isn’t a goldendoodle a double coat dog ? I have had groomers shave my dog slick and he was shocked and cold for weeks . It was heartbreaking . I don’t usually use a slicker brush I use the rake and the comb but that doesn’t get them fluffy so this is a helpful video !! Thank you
Your boy is so well behave❤️ I notice that after having my boy, toy poodle trimming by the trimming shop, his hair is so smooth and will stay smooth like a couple weeks. What product do the professional trimmers use after bath? or after trimming? I really want to know what makes his hair smooth and stay like that like a magic!
Great question! Your poodles coat is straight because you’re Groomer uses professional dryers that blow the coat nice and straight so they can get a precise trim on the dog. Most groomers use a stand dryer and fluff dry poodles so it stays straight for quite some time.
thank you for this video. it very helpful....we have our baby girlie Golden doodle and she is the sweetest, smartest girl and just this feminine energy of love , sweetness is so incredible .... she is very curly and more like poodle coat so it almost daily brushing as once coat gets matted, it needs to be shaved....I have always had long hair, fluffy dogs so grooming, brushing for me is no issue .. it takes time, but for dogs brushing is like for a human taking shower daily.....
Just found your channel and i am really enjoying it. I am learning a lot about my goldendoodle trying to troubleshoot the matting...i honestly didnt realize that their coat was so high maintenance because ive always had shorter haired dogs that didn't need much brushing! Im going to get the spray, but i am also going to try coconut oil trick as that is what i have on hand at the moment!! Thank you!!
@@GoGroomer i brush her everyday. She still mat up...I dnt want the groomer to keep shaving her..They never take the time to cut her they just to shave her and i brush her out really good before she goes to them..I take good care of my baby
Thank you for this video Amy. I have been watching many of your videos after discovering your channel. Will definitely subscribe and watch more videos to get tips and techniques on dog grooming. I have a curly haired Havanese and it's hard to groom him. He doesn't like being touched around the face or paws. It takes two people (my husband and myself) to use the clippers on his body yesterday. Haven't touched his paw or face yet and he looks like a Chinese Crested dog now. Not to mention, I don't have the equipment that you have (table, grooming arm, groomer helper loop, shears etc) What was I thinking? LOL Will definitely have to invest in those equipment soon. I can't afford groomers anymore, I get charged over $100 each time I go. Love your videos and advise. Thank you for sharing.
My tea cup poodle has the same hair as Gus...maybe even a little thicker. Every time I brush him I get Tons of hair out. Would you recommend the quicker slicker of the tropical stuff? Ever since you showed us the warm water spritz, it's made brushing him a lot more productive. Thank you for that but, if using one of the sprays would make it easier to brush him...I'm definitely interested. Also, I don't have a grooming table can you suggest the best way to hold him while I groom him? He can be a real stinker at times...I've never cut or hurt him in anyway but, I have cut myself😑. Any tips would be most welcome.🐩🐩🐩🐩🐩👍
I love both brush out sprays and they both make brush outs faster, easier, and more productive. Grooming tables are an absolute must if you groom your dog. Since you are grooming a very small dog, this one is perfect for you both! amzn.to/3uHcmAM
Hi Amy you have given my family a huge eye opener for grooming our dogs properly, for years. I have a giant Schoodle (giant/ schnauzer, poodle). A dorkie ( Dachshund, Yorkshire Terrier) A German Shepard/husky and a lab mix. Do you have any suggestions on how to groom my dogs safely while I am pregnant? I have the km10 clippers, a presser dryer and the recommended product for bathing. I don’t have a dog bath tub. Normal walk in shower. I prefer to keep grooming my dogs however I am opened to your advice. Thank you for your help. Take care! Much love and blessings.
Congratulations on the new baby:) I would invest in a portable grooming table with grooming arm and lead to keep them safely secure on the grooming table. I have an affordable nice table linked in the description of this video:)
@@GoGroomer morning! Thank you for sharing your honesty. I now feel more comfortable with grooming. Take care and I’m excited for your up coming videos .
Watching your vids it seems like every dog is the best most well behaved and don't act up. Is that typical or do you only show the well behaved ones? What recommendations do you have for getting a dog introduced to grooming?
Hi there! New Husky Momma here! I do all of our grooming here at home and I've much enjoyed learning from you! I have about every brush/comb/rake on the market and I'm debating between the CC Coral Slicker and this Kenchii brand you recommend. Is there a big performance difference? The price difference is HUGE! Thank You so much!
Don’t you have to dry after combing through moist fur after dematting? I would think the moist or wet fur would just cause it to clump together as it dried again
What a good doggy 😊 Can all this advice work for both my yorkie-poo and my shih-apso? Ps my shih-apso has a mole on his side, is it safe to brush the hair in that area?
O.k. I got through your link to Amazon the ear powder, the ear hair puller, the Tropiclean tear stain face/spa scrub, toe nail clipper and slicker brush. My question now is do you prefer the Tropiclean detangle spray or quicker slicker? I've got good shears, clippers, comb and a pin brush, is there anything else you think would help me groom my 2 pound tea cup poodle puppy? I was considering a grooming arm or that small round grooming table you have on your suggestion page because he wants to lay down and he is very fussy. It's hard to groom with one hand. What do you think of those hindquater holders so they will stand? Any advice before I buy is extremely helpful. I appreciate your time!😊⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
My doodle has a super tight curls. How do you get the coat under the arms and chest? i feel like even when i have him on the table I bought its super hard to get at that fur. I've scanned through your videos...do you have a video on grooming a super curly coat?
I have a 10.5 month old goldendoodle. He has much more of a retriever coat! His fur is amazing! We would like to keep him on the longer side. I brush him daily, sometimes twice a day! But I know heading into summer, I will have to see how he does. We use a slicker, metal comb and de-matter comb. I'm curious if groomers will just do a scissor cut back on his body, as we want him longer than an inch and a half! Is there a longer clipper size? We have taken him in for sanitary grooms and baths, but not a body trim!
I have a goldendoodle. What size undercoat rake do you recommend. I got the kenchii large slicker per your recommendation and love it! His head is quite curly, but rest of body is wavy. Thank you
Hello , I have enjoyed watching you video very much and learned quite a bit . I have found a stray standard poodle about 2 month age he was in very bad shape and I took him to a groomer right away, which had to completely shave him down , she could save the hair on his ears , face and top of his head . Unfortunately the shelter and i have never found the owner and since i was fostering him , sice the shelter was full i ended up adopting Baylee , his new name. Baylees hair has grown out to where it has to be brushed and he absolutely hates it . My question is , will I have to invest in a table? I'm on a fixed income so I will have to do some grooming myself and I'm trying invest in some tools if they are not too expensive. Thank you and I will subscribe so I can get a little more educated.
My dog is super poodle curly, even after washing blowing and line brushing he goes backto tight curls by the next day. Anything I can use or is this typical?
5:55 would you recommend a undercoat rake like this for an English Springer Spaniel? I would have guessed no because you said you do not recommend them for double coated dogs. I Googled it and I think that English Springer Spaniels are double coated, but I’ve talked to other people and they told me that they are not, and that they are single coated. I keep finding mixed information. How do I know if my dog is double-coated? I swear that golden retrievers are also double-coated but now I’ve been hearing that they are not (Golden Retrievers are the closest thing I can think of to the English Springer Spaniels hair type. They aren’t identical though)
I have a mini Goldendoodle with a very very thick, curly coat. Which Kenchi rake would you suggest? 16, 23, or 40 teeth? I have her groomed often because she gets hot so easily, but thinking a rake might be helpful? (I have a comb and Kenchi slicker brush) Thank you, thank you!!!
I have learned a lot from your videos! I home groom our two Wheaten terriers with American coats. They remind me a lot of doodles in terms of coat maintenance. I’m wondering if this advice would be the same for their coats since they don’t shed? I really don’t love brushing them in between clips because mats are a constant problem. Wish I had a kenchi clipper like yours! I have an Oster golden A5. I also just bought magic coat detangler for tangles and mats. Thank you!!!

I love both brush out sprays and they both make brush outs faster, easier, and more productive. Grooming tables are an absolute must if you groom your dog. Since you are grooming a very small dog, this one is perfect for you both!

How do you clean and sanitize scissors, blades etc after using them?
I have a video on that.
Go for the large kenchii slicker and watch my deshedding video. Tools you should not use to deshed a dog.
GREAT video!!!
Don’t you have to dry after combing through moist fur after dematting? I would think the moist or wet fur would just cause it to clump together as it dried again
Great informative video
Thank you so much!!!😄
How do you feel about banish shampoo and conditioner in addition to the pre/post banish spray?
Just watched your whole video.. very helpful. I'm a new doodle owner (sheepadoodle) I'm wondering if a slicker brush is good for daily brushing?
What a good doggy 😊
Can all this advice work for both my yorkie-poo and my shih-apso? Ps my shih-apso has a mole on his side, is it safe to brush the hair in that area?
what a good pooch :)

Did you take photos of GUS .... Bedlington Terrier trim out?
Would these be the brushes I could use with my Bichon? Also, which groom table would you suggest? Thank you so much for your videos and help!!
I would use the Les Poochs gold brush on a Bichon:) I have a portable grooming table linked in this video that would be great😍
Are you bathing the dog before all of the brushing?
My doodle has a super tight curls. How do you get the coat under the arms and chest? i feel like even when i have him on the table I bought its super hard to get at that fur. I've scanned through your videos...do you have a video on grooming a super curly coat?
I know your troubles. This video may help you

Thanks!
Cheers my friend! 🙌
How do you keep him from moving?
Have you watch any of my other videos? It’s all there for you. 🙌
👍🏾🍷Thx 4 sharing.
I have a goldendoodle. What size undercoat rake do you recommend. I got the kenchii large slicker per your recommendation and love it! His head is quite curly, but rest of body is wavy. Thank you
How often can use the detangle spray
Every time you brush your dog.
So like everyday I have Bichon I brush everyday to avoid Matts as I live in damp climate raining most of the year
💖 ♥♥♥♥ Thank you
Hello , I have enjoyed watching you video very much and learned quite a bit .
What tools would you recommend for grooming an F1b goldendoodle. I’ve never had one before and I got paired with one for my service dog
Would you suggest the slicker brush or the pin brush on a longer haired golden doodle? Thanks.
Definitely the Kenchii large slicker brush.
I would recommend for a springer.
That sounds very helpful for my golden doodle Harper but we have trouble keeping her ears dematted
Have you tried this? It works:)

@@GoGroomer Thanks!
Why is my AussieDoodle matting
She is 2 on 7/22
Also
She sheds?
Weekly brushing. The undercoat is matting due to not brushing, bathing and conditioning. Then more brushing.
I wish you could be my dog groomer!!!
Can’t believe you actually dematted all that
My little Havapoo just won't stand still for any length of time. I think she's the boss of me.
Im in desprate help i had my goldendoodle at a new groomer because hers retired and her skin turned black after 3 days like hyperpigmentation not sure
Maybe you should have a vets opinion? Could be something that needs attention. Not typical when grooming dogs.
@@GoGroomer thank you I did already and nothing going for second vet
I have learned a lot from your videos! I home groom our two Wheaten terriers with American coats. They remind me a lot of doodles in terms of coat maintenance. I’m wondering if this advice would be the same for their coats since they don’t shed? I really don’t love brushing them in between clips because mats are a constant problem. Wish I had a kenchi clipper like yours! I have an Oster golden A5. I also just bought magic coat detangler for tangles and mats. Thank you!!!
Hi Erin:) yes, the routine shown in this video would certainly apply to your Wheaten's:)
What does 'break' that coat means?
Break the healthy hair
Give me the name of y he products
They are kindly listedfkr you in this videos descrition.
Great 🙂👍
This would be so easy to do when the dog cooperates 😅
