    hi gabe:) i am no professional groomer but i was forced to cut my doodles hair when her Petco appt was canceled on me lol. if i may suggest... please advise your subscribers to be careful when cutting around the mouth, go slowly around the lips, and also extra careful when cutting the long hair around the tips of the ears. You should make sure to touch the very end of the ear, give yourself room, use your finger as a barrier, check twice and then cut. thanks for all your great videos!

    I absolutely love all goldendoodle videos. Very insightful! My goldendoodle is a little over 2 years old and I didn't know how much work it actually pertains. I wanted him to have the teddy bear look but no matter how much I brushed he ended up so matted. I use the slicker and the comb every day, doing half his body one day then the other half the following day. ...no success. I had to take him to the groomer and they had to completely shave him. I take him now every couple months cause I don't ever want him to go through that again. After watching your videos I see my mistakes and learn a lot. THANK YOU!

    I live in asheville, and im picking up my new puppy tommorrow, its an F1BB goldendoodle, i am so excited and nervous to make sure I give the new member of my family the best care he needs. When brushing, if they have tangles, does it hurt them to be a bit tough to get the tangles out?
    also, what should i tell the groomer i want for haircut to keep coat with the teddy bear look? ( as long as i maintain the coat of course.)

    I’ll add my 2 cents as a pro groomer.
    1. Don’t use a clipper without watching instructional video. Learn about coolant, and skin areas that are very vulnerable to getting caught in the blade.
    2. Points of friction will get matted.
    3. Ears, tongues, foot pads are loaded with blood vessels. They will bleed like a fountain. Never use scissors on the foot pads. Be extremely cautious around the ears and watch a head scissoring video to see how to safely trim around the muzzle.
    3. I clip behind the ears with a ten or 7, to remove and prevent mats. I like to use a ten just beneath the ear opening and sometimes inside the ear flap if there is a lot of hair in there. This way we have a good airflow for the ear canal.
    You need to keep an eye on the hair inside the ears. Excessive hair blocks the ear canal and collects matter at the roots. It’s common for golden and doodles to get dirty ears. Ear wipes are a very easy method to clean the ears and prevent ear infection.
    4. You can get a professional clipper. Use a ten blade for sanitary trim, eye corners and to remove hair around the bum and genitals. You can use a 30 place to trim between foot pads. Optimally you would learn how to clip then get a set of stainless guard combs. These click onto the 30 blade so you can set the length. Also if you use a guard comb you won’t blade burn.
    5. Invest in a metro force commander blow dryer. You can use this to blow debris off after a hike check for ticks, blow the coat dry at the root. If you’re going to cut the coat it’s going to be rough without a proper prep and it won’t look even. It’s so important to get dander and stuff off of the skin.
    I can’t stress enough to watch the videos be patient it takes time to get the feel of the clippers and to learn the correct scissor holding.

    • @dottyk1637
      @dottyk1637 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The hair has to be tangle and mat free, be able to be combed completely to the skin before using a clipper. 1st rule of clipping, if not, it might be dull blades, packed in clippers, wrong number clipper blade, etc. A prof groomer will tell you the same thing.

    I have watched your videos and have a few questions. My 1.5 year old f1b mini goldendoodle (35 pounds) is absolutely crazy. Inside my home he is loving and doesn't leave my side. He is food aggressive with my older dog but we have figured out a system for that. Outside of the house he lunges, shows his teeth, barks like crazy, and is out of control when any other dog is around. He has gone through extensive training and has had a 2 week board and train session. The trainer thinks he has severe anxiety and said to try cbd with him. Have you heard of a goldendoodle acting like this? Ideas? Suggestions?

    • @gabebollinger
      @gabebollinger  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey, yes I have. There are these types of dogs in every type of dog. The key is structure and showing him that you make the decisions and you lead him and he doesn’t lead you. You have to be confident in what you do if that makes sense and for example if you go to reach for the food and he gets aggressive, that’s exactly when you would apply “more” pressure which means you would safely remove the dog from the food and he has to understand that if he has that type of behavior he doesn’t get his food. Tried to explain that as well as possible and there’s so much more I could say but hard to type it all. I would watch “Tom Davis” on youtube he has amazing tips on this type of thing

I know of a dog whose owner cut off his peeper with shears. Leave that to the professionals! Poor guy had to squat for the rest of his life.😬🤭😑there’s ALOT to grooming.
