I’ve been grooming him on my lap, on the ground, in the yard on the outdoor couch….sigh. I can’t afford any of that stuff but I will still use your basic tips!
After spending this afternoon having our rescue doggie snap at our new Wahl clipper over and over, and having to resort to scissoring, I came here, watched, and ordered ALL THIS and will practice table time so we get some grooming success. Thank you SOOOOOO MUUUUUUCH.
Yeah some pups really get angry at the clippers! Something that works for a groomer I know is using a soft head cone that extends a couple-few inches out past the muzzle, that way it's harder for them to turn their head to nip. Also the horizontal hitch that Amy demonstrated in the video is a must, that will prevent too much movement from side to side.
@ thank you, yes , got all the hitches, and that helps for sure. I just bought a cone and will try that this next time - good to know that it works for your friend! I think our buddy is just scared of the clipper, and it’ll take time and gentleness to get over it. Hopefully the cone will help make it an “out of sight, out of mind” situation.
Thank you, I just got a new puppy she's a Morkie and even though I've brush her it never crossed my mind to get her use to my grooming table, very helpful and appreciated.
omg shes such a cute schnauzer! I'm based in NZ hoping to work in grooming, we dont have schnauzers like her here! She's very cute! American Schnauzer I assume?
Thank you so much for this tutorial. My Schnorkie gets stressed riding in the car and they had to give her CBD oil to groom her. Had 2 groomers leave the place. I didn’t want to start over with another. Have purchased the supplies to do it myself. She is very wiggly. I will be doing table time as suggested and adding the old leash for a second tether. I am much more optimistic about future grooming.
This is so helpful. I was adopted by a senior rescue dog 6 months ago. So much for us to learn together. I want him to behave well at the groomers, no fear for both of us. Eventually I'm hoping to do a majority of his grooming myself. Quality time together ❤
Thank you for doing this video!! I have a almost 2 year old cavoodle and a 4 month old cavoodle. I want to start grooming them both and have been windering how i get them used to be handled by me for grooming. Thus video is sooo helpful!!
Oh my goodness what a great video! I have no idea why it did not show up in my feed immediately when it was release but I'm so glad I found it today! With the paw mat that Elleigh Grace is standing on, how do you clean that? Do you clean it after every groom or do you use it for a while? How often do you replace these mats? THANK YOU for being so amazing with all you teach us! We LOVE YOU ❤😍
Thank you so much!! The paw mats are waterproof so you can clean it with your favorite pet safe cleaner between grooms, at the end of my day I throw it in my grooming tub and give it a real good cleaning with hot water as well. These paw mats have lasted me professionally for years Before needing replaced.
What a great video, Amy! I’m sure so many people will benefit from this info. Your momma is a great sport for helping your viewers & for learning from her daughter! I have a Portie that I groom that will sit on the table but also will just lay down - ie: start hanging himself! It’s taken about 3 yrs for me to finally stop that, but the sitting is still an issue. Since he’s not a little dog, it’s hard to get thru his grooms in a timely manner. He’s slowly getting better every time. Any tips or ideas to help dogs like this? Putting a gallon jug under him hasn’t worked very well. I’m thinking a second arm & loop on other end of table is my next option…? Thanks for being you! Thank you to Elleigh & Grace & Momma, too❣️
Great video, thank you! I bet your Mom's going to do a great job. What a sweet Schnauzer, so cute! Recently bought the Groomer's Helper Lead shown in the video but the hook on the end doesn't fit on my grooming arm; going to switch out the hooks. The paw mat is great for paw stability too! ❓️❓️❓️ Question though... For a home groomer that uses the bathtub, is there any type of height adjustable table or platform that can fit in the bathtub so I can stand up & bathe my CKCS instead of kneeling or getting in the tub with her? Thanks!!!
@@GoGroomer Thank you for your reply! Good to know I'm not the only one lol!😅 Yeah I figured I'd take the hook off of one of the leads it came with the table/arm & put it on the Grooner's Helper Lead. Can't wait to use it! ❓️Another question.... I use the home bathtub to bathe my CKCS & it's becoming too difficult to kneel, sit on the side, or get in the bath. Do you know of any height adjustable table or platform that could be placed in the tub, so I can stand up to bathe/deshed her? Something like the tub platforms used in professional washing stations for smaller dogs, but height adjustable for the home groomer? Thank you so much!❤
Another excellent video, Amy 🙂 Is that a little hair dryer on the front of the grooming table? I have not purchased the regular grooming dryer because of the size and that one looks like it fits quite nicely. If it is a dryer what brand is it? I can't quite seem to zoom in on it well enough to see. Thanks! EDIT: never mind... I found it in your description
Im trying to find the place i can hit so i go to your grooming products. My 5 yr old Shih Tzu dog is very sensitive to get his grooming done. I took him to groomers shops but one place kept cutting into the quick of his nails. Causing bleeding which upset and hurt Meko. Now he doesn't want them clipped at all. Especially the front paws. He doesn't like you doing his face either. So i started grooming him. Its been quite the challenge for both of us. Anyway, i wanted to get some of the grooming spray you use to be rid of sny matting in the hair. Can you help me find out how to get to your little shop of doggy necessities 🎉🎉 Thanx so much. 😊

Please address a safety issue for me. My concern is with the grooming arm. Would you please address the issue of the dog falling off the edge of the table with the grooming loop around its neck. This seems like a serious issue possibly injuring the dog or worse breaking its neck. I was hoping this would have been addressed in the video. Thank you.

I know the type😂 Try to always keep a hand under his belly or inner back thigh as a reminder for him to continue standing. 🙌
Fantastico justo lo que necesitaba para algunos clientes difíciles 🎉

I love that mom is bare foot 😊❤️ that’s my style too

This video was really good amy...can you do a simlar video with a dog that's more unruly though ar all? 🙂
Most dogs I groom are very accustomed to grooming so it’s hard for me to find that senecio.
Thank you for this helpful video that was needed and right on time. What is the weight of eat dog?
These dogs are under 12 pounds.
Excellent video👍
Thank you!

I run into that problem sometimes. My solution is to purchase another hook from a local store and hook the groomers helper to that one.

I talked about talking the slack out of the grooming loop. That is to keep them centered in the table.
What's the real true takeaway about grooming a dog at home successfully?
Is a table a MUST
and /or is it the restraining leashes?
All of it is necessary.
It’s not that easy with a Great Pyrenees
Or a wire miniature schnauzer 🥴
The big dogs are easier to train.
No problem. Take the advice and use it.
