I'm new to Dremels, but this thing has been great. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxfPgcZ5_Cl0HDUKkMJAKde11YKQZVgMoR The variable speed is awesome and the cordless aspect makes it so easy to work with. I am constantly finding uses for it that make tasks easier. Recently I put in a new deadbolt on one of our doors. I knew I had to enlarge the hold where the deadbolt goes into the door frame. At first I thought I would have to get a big router and figure out how to use it for that, but then I rermembered we have the dremel. I was able to enlarge the hole almost as easy as if I was drawing with a pen. It's also great for grinding our dog's nails done and so many other household tasks.
Collets on any tool: never put bit 100% into the hole. Leave it out about 1/8in or more and tighten down. Normally loosen the bit. Once the lock not is loose then tap the bit inward with the wrench and it'll unlock and fall right out.
Your tip is a great tip, to keep the bit from galling to the tool, however, this won't remedy the bit coming out on the first loosen. This collet will not break free, even if you tap the bit, until you loosen the nut the second time. Trust us, we've tried this multiple times, just as others have. The collet nut must be loosened, turned several turns, then it will tighten up again, then you have to use the wrench again to loosen further, this is what backs the collet out of the tool and releases the bit. Thanks for watching.
You obviously haven't used the type of collets Milwaukee uses. Also, why tap bits instead of removing them properly? People will be tapping on their expensive, sharp carbide bits if they listen to this advice. Maybe on grinding and sanding wheels...but there's absolutely no reason to be tapping bits on just any old tool with a collet.
Is there a 1/4" right angle adaptor that I can use with this. I need both straight and right angle but it would be great to have both in one tool. Thanks
I think you might be better off with a compact recip saw for the exhaust pipe. I can see a die grinder, being useful for removing casting burrs on bare blocks though.
Just got mine. Had any trouble with the collet? Finally got a ¼" wire brush into it, but it won't come out, the whole collet & collar comes off together.
Inserting the collet into the nut as you did in the video but the nut will run out of threads and the collet doesn’t tighten/compress the bit/die that’s placed into it. Is the collet defective or am I missing something?
I got the collet stuck in the barral in the closed position and can't get it out so I can reset it to fit attachment. How can I remove the collet without disoring it?
No, I would not recommend the straight or right angle die grinder for cutting sheet metal. If you need it in a pinch, then sure, but to regularly cut sheet metal, this is not the tool. Thanks for watching.
what is a good Mounting Mandrel for M12 FUEL 12-Volt Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 1/4 in. Straight Die Grinder ? I have heard a lot of the 1/4" Shaft do not fit well .
Milwaukee Fuel tools do not simply run longer with a higher capacity battery. The electronics in the Fuel line are designed to increase RPM, torque, etc., depending on the size and type of battery used. Really would have been nice to see how one of their higher capacity batteries affected performance.
I hate collets, why can't they supply a mini chuck instead? The constant stopping would be annoying, you would expect it to be better than a mains Dremel, maybe an issue with M12 current draw?
The auto-shutoff can definitely be beneficial, especially for saving the tool or other things like you mentioned. But, it can also be a pain. It's something you can learn to live with. Thanks for watching.
I"m curious as to why Die Grinders are so expensive relatively speaking. They cost more than a rotary tool and just as much or more so than your angle grinder. An air powered one is cheaper, but in general these tools are expensive. Why is this so?
I just HATE the stupid paddle switch that mimics an air tool… I hate it when cordless ratchets do this and hate when they do this for cordless die grinders. Put a damn button on it like Snap-On does for their cordless ratchets that everyone loves!
Not a die grinder. 2 in cut off wheels are a joke if you can't keep the tool straight and not at an angle and cut straight then its just a Dremel. Pretty disappointing from Milwaukee in my book.
It's definitely more than a Dremel. As I mention several times in the video, this isn't a replacement for everything. However, this is a great supplemental tool that's very handy. Not for everyone and Not for every job. Thanks for watching.
90% of this doesn’t seem like a tool review, it’s more like “Can I use a jewelers hammer to frame a house” video.. For the love of God, just use the tool and consumables for what they were intended…..
Thanks, just got the tool and the bit sticking to the collet was driving me mad. You saved a life today.
Awesome! So glad we could help. Thanks for watching.

Just when you think you know it all, I've learned so much. I even learned a few things with the regular M18 angle grinder.

On all my routers I place an o-ring inside so when I tighten the nut the bit doesn't bottom out.

@Sct_159 Not a bad tip for keeping the bit from bottoming out, but that doesn't keep you from loosening it twice for this tool. Thanks for watching.
You obviously haven't used the type of collets Milwaukee uses.

Don’t do that at all. Bad advice.
What discs are being used (Size etc) and what tool is used to fit the discs to the Die Grinder?
Milwaukee should have a push button to hold the collet in place to install/remove accessories instead of 2 wrenches
I like the right angle for tight spaces!
The tip that the collar and nut are one piece I was using them separately and the bits kept getting stuck. Subbed
Steel fragments will fill the thing up with those air vents near the head.
It needs a mesh cover like the 5inch grinder
I really like your gloves. where can I buy a pair of those?
..thanks professor.. the safety collet tip was very helpful..
Very useful video. Thank you 👍🏻
Put the included collet shaft tool in a vise and bend it into an L shape. Makes it easier to hold with tool...
That's a great tip. Thanks for sharing.
Hi ! . Can I use it as a bolt cutter . Thanks for the video . /. ✌️
Is there a 1/4" right angle adaptor that I can use with this. I need both straight and right angle but it would be great to have both in one tool. Thanks
Try tmangus, they sell a kit for 90.00 both with bag batteries etc
I think you might be better off with a compact recip saw for the exhaust pipe.
I can see a die grinder, being useful for removing casting burrs on bare blocks though.
Definitely, great idea for this. Thanks for sharing.
agree finding 2" wheels is a bit harder ... was just going to use the 3" till it gets to 2" lol..
Can you use a 2 1/2 disc ? I found dewalt make’s 2 1/2 disc.
Just got mine. Had any trouble with the collet? Finally got a ¼" wire brush into it, but it won't come out, the whole collet & collar comes off together.
Thanks Tim.
Very welcome. Thanks again for watching.
Try cutting oil on the tip to keep metal shards from plugging up.
We use some cutting wax and it works great. Thanks for watching.
Inserting the collet into the nut as you did in the video but the nut will run out of threads and the collet doesn’t tighten/compress the bit/die that’s placed into it.

Learned so much from this. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching.

where can you buy that cutting blade for new m12 milwaukee rotarytool ? please give me the keyword to find it
what collet adapter is available to 1/8 inch size - I need to order one thanks
Awesome tips and great review as usual 👍
Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for watching.
Also excellent at wrecking watches. How did it work out on your watch?
I keep a tempered glass screen protector on my watch. I replace it all the time. So far, the watch is still in great shape. Thanks for watching.
You should test the dewalt dcf 894h impact wrench
We'll do this very soon. Thanks for watching.
Hey have you used any grinding burrs on wood will it still slow down
How recommendable is to use the grinder to cut drywall
Interesting...I had no idea about the safety collet.
Right on. It's news to most people. Thanks for watching.
Will a 3” cut off wheel just bog it down?
Hi Thanks for your nice video ^^ How can i find 3 inch cutting disk 8mm holder for M12 FDGS Die grinder I,m really cant 't find this
nice review. thanks
WOULD THIS BE A GOOD TOOL TO CUT SHEET METAL?
No, I would not recommend the straight or right angle die grinder for cutting sheet metal. If you need it in a pinch, then sure, but to regularly cut sheet metal, this is not the tool. Thanks for watching.
@@Shoptoolreviews what would be the m12 tools for sheet metal cutting?
@@SnD340 depending how thick, perhaps a Plasma cutter

Hi Tim what cutoff wheel are you using? I don’t know what I need to use mine with a cutoff wheel
We purchase most of our cutoff wheels and accessories from our local welding supply store. Thanks for watching.
@@Shoptoolreviews thank you Tim!
Nice Vid!
i work on engine and small metall work is this tool good for me?
yes, it's very handy, but not meant for grinding or sanding large jobs. Thanks for watching.
Wonder if they sell a 1/8 collet for it ?
Yes, you can buy an 1/8" collet for it.

Did you watch this video? This should help you. Let us know, if not. Thanks for watching.

Thank you very much.
The auto shut off SEEMS like a pain until it save you from nicking any suspension or other components you don’t want to be gouging
The auto-shutoff can definitely be beneficial, especially for saving the tool or other things like you mentioned. But, it can also be a pain. It's something you can learn to live with. Thanks for watching.
Anybody have a link where i can buy some cut off discs for the right angle die grinder?
I"m curious as to why Die Grinders are so expensive relatively speaking. They cost more than a rotary tool and just as much or more so than your angle grinder. An air powered one is cheaper, but in general these tools are expensive. Why is this so?
I use candle wax works great
Do a test on the Milwaukee m12 1/4 impact driver.
Would be using this as a grinder and sander with soft pad on fiberglass assemblies and to repair cracks.
Should work great for that. Thanks for watching.
That burr bit is made for cutting steel not aluminum, aluminum burr bits have far less flutes.
He talked about that in the video.
Zamówiłem taką szlifierkę.
I just HATE the stupid paddle switch that mimics an air tool… I hate it when cordless ratchets do this and hate when they do this for cordless die grinders. Put a damn button on it like Snap-On does for their cordless ratchets that everyone loves!
Why can't you theoretically use a 3" cutoff wheel?
The angled one cuts off. No direct power for 3”...freaked me out
Always let the tool do the work. When using a cut off wheel, keep the 90° or it will jump and shutdown the grinder
Correct, you need to let the tool do the work. Thanks for watching.
Absolutely correct. I have this one guy at work that bear down and bog down power tools. Then calls them junk. Yet he doesn’t own any.
The tool will cut off less if you use a 6 amp battery
Probably true, but I was testing with the batteries that came in the kit. Thanks for watching.
Lol 411 nuggets. Yesssss
I'm glad you like my verbiage. Thanks for watching.
I want one but I can see metal shavings and particles filling the inside of it with all the holes near the head

Dremel wins 😅

The M12 die grinder has it's place, but it's still much better than a dremel. Thanks for watching.
Not a die grinder. 2 in cut off wheels are a joke if you can't keep the tool straight and not at an angle and cut straight then its just a Dremel. Pretty disappointing from Milwaukee in my book.

Dremel makes a better die grinder hands down
