Just picked one of these up to replace my air die grinder. Using it for metal fabrication/automotive work. Love it so far. No cords to manage, it actually pretty light even with the 6.0 battery. This is likely to be one of my favorite tools.
I was on the fence about this grinder. Been on the fence for 2 months because of reviews that you cant put much force on it. I finally gave in and drove to my HD and picked it up...best 169.99 i have ever spent and regret not getting it sooner. Just an amazing quiet machine. I have a large air compressor and air grinder and i hate the noise but with this is quite compare to an air grinder. Highly recommend
I ordered 2 haven't seen them yet but yesterday I got on the cornwell truck for the first time and I was blown away with the amount of milwaukee he was stocking so I had to do a JRC54 tool haul and pick up a 3rd grinder. I don't buy kits unless I'm getting free batteries or tools, since I use the m12 tools in construction and automotive I only run extended life batteries 3.0 and up I just give the 2.0 and 1.5 away now I have easily 30 small amphour batteries and close to the same in extended life batteries. I'm really digging all the new Milwaukee tool. I'm also stoked to be picking tools up from cornwell, I'm impressed with the tools I have seen so far.
Thanks for introducing this product. I'm about to take on some rust for my car I bought a die grinder instead of a full blown angle grinder I needed this abrasive silicon cutter to cut through paint and rust.
You could drill out that roll pin that's holding the safety switch in, that thing looks like it would be a pain when your doing short precise grinds. Thank you for having a safe channel to comment my opinion on tools for everyone to see and comment back if they would like to.
I took a 1" square piece of rubber strip and blocked the spring loaded safety lever open. The folded spring lever holds the rubber in place and can be quickly removed. It sits behind the trigger bar and is out of the way of your fingers. At first I drove out the bottom hinge roll pin and took off the whole lever assembly and just used the trigger with my middle finger, but with the trigger bar, you have more speed control and the grip is designed so your index finger grips just below the motor while the remaining three fingers squeeze the bar.
I got this 2 months ago and love it. I usually listen to music/podcasts with buds both for hearing protection and entertainment. Today was the first time i didn't have buds on while using it. Noticed a clicking or a rasp sound during the sudden deceleration after letting go of the paddle. It's almost inaudible lasts a fraction of a second. I was concerned it might be a bigger issue but you and actually everyone that recorded the video with decent audio have the same click. It's 7:43 for each speed setting. The paddle being leg to sound isn't what I'm referring to. It almost cancels it out but it's there. It's also not consistent sometimes i can't hear it but it might be in an inaudible frequency.
Cool review, that is something I have been looking at, but do not yet have a project to use it on. rust/dust like that is not good to breathe in case some of the brake pad dust is in there (asbestos is not your friend), always use your ppe and have good ventilation. Lungs, unlike good tools, are harder to replace. Love the channel, will be watching. :)
So far out of all the TH-camrs you're the first one I've ever seen use the tool like I would. So I can see whether or not it's worth for me to buy. I would really be using the 2 and 3 inch barrel round Sanders . That is in my main use in a CNC shop is smoothing out bores. Thanks alot for the video. I see it can be really useful for me. I also heard that Milwaukee will be releasing a straight grinder in February.
I'm sitting in home depot parking lot watching my man. You're talking me into this purchase. I had to make sure I wasn't making a mistake. I have some aluminum rims that need some refinishing. Well thanks for the video and I'm going to buy it. $199.99 plus free 2.5 high output battery.
Could wait to get mine! Wow have I been disappointed. Everytime I have used it, it constantly stops. Especially with wire brush attachments. Not happy with it all.
Greg Norvell yes! I had the same issue, I dont know where they got the 1/3hp rating from. I returned it after 30 seconds of use trying to take lead gaskets off my manifolds. With the small 1-1/2” cup wheel it kept cutting out. I reverted back to my mastercraft $50 mini air tool and it absolutely blew the m12 away. I wasnt pushing on the m12 hard at all. Milwaukee makes some impressive stuff but this one isnt...
Couldn't agree more. I was using a 1" wire brush. I too wasn't pushing it hard at all, just enough to let the brush do its job. It's just way too sensitive. Although I haven't had any issues with the sanding discs, yet. But I havent really used it a lot with the discs. I just got frustrated with it and threw it on the bench.
Yeah, that’s the safety feature. The sander / polisher is better for the larger things - lower rpm’s, more torque. This one works great with burrs or smaller attachments.
I’ve been wanting to try trowing a cut off disk on mine to see if it could handle cutting a stubborn sway bar link, but I haven’t had the balls to do it.
I just purchased this M12 right angle die grinder and so far I like it. I did order 2 extra 3 Ah batteries since I know I'll be using this tool quite a bit. I will say that it is bulkier than my IR pneumatic die grinder but not having the air hose attached is a major plus. Additionally, I'm hoping Milwaukee will look at changing the collet to a quick release 1/4" collet like they use on their 1/4 impact driver. That would be sweet if they could engineer that into this die grinder. Thanks for the vid and I went ahead and subbed to your channel. Cheers!
Great review. Im patiently waiting for mine to come in. I agree tho, I don't put any 3" on die grinders or rarely a wire wheel. They make other tools better suited for that stuff. Like u said 2" roloc or bristle disc and your golden.
FYI from I’m experience on the right angel die grinder and on the 3” cut off tool I try and always run a 6.0 mainly because of run time. There’s a slight increase in power not much but it seems to last a hell of a lot longer. Also when using like a 2.0 when it hits 2 dots on the battery level it seems to drop down in power and speed. Plus it stands up Nicely with the bigger batteries. Also the straight grind spins a little slower the the 90 FYI.
I need more education on the attachments *PLEASE!!!* 🙏 I heard you saying you use the bristle brush for cleaning the rims & that sparked my interest because in a couple months, I plan on powdercoating my rims but want find the quickest/most effective way of cleaning grime off my wheels
That’s used for cleaning the rust that forms in the mounting side of the wheels. The most effective way to keep your wheels clean would be applying a ceramic coat on them.
I've wanted one for years. I do my own auto mechanic work on my vehicle's (want something done right do it yourself 😆😆) except for high end specialty stuff. Nothing inside a short block besides a cam but top end is fine. I also like doing custom work as well. Got a lot of work to do on the Camaro coming up but anyways thought your vid was worth a comment for the algo! Bout to order both angle & straight version with the 3" cut off tool.😈
Snap on power tool sucks like they always did way too weak and expensive for that crap when u can get a milwaukee for cheaper and 4x more strong and durable
Putting my order in tomorrow morning with the Protective boot for the Tool No Games No Joker Ready to get Busy I think they designed the light to be were it's at with the assumption of what ever a individual is working on a good percentage of the time would be faced downward than face forward what's funny is that the tool is a die grinder but what if it could be used in a sense like the cut off tool ...Ooooohh Milwaukee needs to create a attachment not taking anything away from the cut off tool but It seems like the die grinder has more kick to it
I just picked one of these up, can you maybe drop a link to these attachments? I have been looking and I ordered some off Amazon but it does not look like it fits right.
I just got one and it keeps cutting out using a 2" roloc non woven when trying to clean a rim and when i did try to suffer through a whole wheel the battery didn't last. Might be ok for home use but definitely not for work every day. I should have waited a few more years until it was up to par with the air version.
How would this Tool be for reservestingIs aluminum Truck rims I have a set of rims I want to clean up clean up the face of it to Polish it to be aluminum face please comment back and how expensive is the full packageThank you for this video
Have you tried the1.5- 2 inch cutoff wheels if so how'd it do I already have the lil 3 inch cutoff tools that's awesome but a lot of times a 1.5-2 wheel would be perfect for what I do in places the 3 inch tool won't fit thanks for any feedback 👍👍👍
I would like to see if people will use these for porting and polishing, wonder how long it can continuously run... May have to test out the Milwaukee warranty and do a time lapse!! ;-[)
Great video. I just picked up one of these tools. Do you know where can I get the attachments? I have seen them on Amazon, but they have really bad reviews.
On Milwaukee's own site as well as other places, there are reviews complaining of the overload tripping out too readilly or overheating and requiring a long rest to cool down and reset. Thise people may be abusing the tool or using too big a dia. attachment but the frequency of that type of complaint does concern me. I really want to buy this tool but I want to be sure the bugs are out of it. If anybody has thay type if problem, please reply.
I love this thing, it's a great tool for all sorts of things!! (the straight die grinder too!) Though I wouldn't do what it says on the box, about the bristle disks at 20k rpm, because it sends the ''hairs'' flying/breaking of.... ;) Also, a 4Ah(or 6Ah) is the way to go, the 2Ah is empty in no time at all!
really love the products a wee bit pricey for me female just starting out DIY ,then you have different battery & charger then accessories it just goes on and on disabled, mobile just, not a lot of money ,and the final I stay in Edinburgh SCOTLAND hi hi all, love your country and Milwaukee yeha.😎😎💕💕
I can relate with little money and being disabled. I still decided I want Milwaukee tools though so I am slowly building up my tool supplies! I'm thinking of getting the die grinders next! A lot of people are saying it cuts out a lot though with minimal pressure so I'm not sure just yet!
This is cool but WHY is the no such thing as a right angle (corded) electric die grinder/sander???? Why only pneumatic in right angle? I've wondered for years and just can't work out why.
I’ve learned to use a face when using any rotary disc or wheels. I had glasses on using one of the paint stripper disc and chunks flew off and hit me in the lip. I always try to use a shield now.
I hate the fact that this cuts off when pressing too hard. If the motor dies I would rather buy another one than having to stop and reset the battery. Any other milwaukee tool won't shut off from pressure. Why this one does that?
If you’ve never used an air filter these are great. th-cam.com/users/postUgkx_dppjvjF8BYEmPSDTcgCUdRsgWYLXNHN I ended up with three after starting out with one. The noise level depends on the 1-3 settings with how hard you want the machine to work. You can also upgrade the filters and get one better for pet hair and smells which is a must have in my home. I noticed the air seemed lighter and easier to breathe when running the machine for the first time. Works great every time. Highly recommended!
plastic trigger should of been metal with a roller ball on the end or a standard trigger variable.. the led what were they thinking it dont light up the work area and its bluish color a high power clear white led where it lights up the work area or a ring light around the head.. i mean come on milwakee or techtronix who owns all the brand tools you need to start not charging tons of money for these things milwakee is way to expensive....
Just picked one of these up to replace my air die grinder. Using it for metal fabrication/automotive work. Love it so far. No cords to manage, it actually pretty light even with the 6.0 battery. This is likely to be one of my favorite tools.

How has it held up?

This grinder did the near impossible, left my boss speechless. Now we need another, for him.

Thats what I thought too but what I did was use a small zip tie and works great just incase i want to use the safety feature later on

Sometimes get this issue on air tools, i just hold it open with other finger.

Your comment is 2 years old, but as true as it's ever been.
Thank you for reminding me to watch out for myself !
I just recently bought one. I’m not ever going to use it, I just lay around and watch TH-cam these days. But this video made me feel like I do stuff.
This makes me really want to get one. Not going to lie just a tad jelly here.
Are u 100 truthfully and have no criminal record jrc54
I use this grinder way way more than I thought I would
So far out of all the TH-camrs you're the first one I've ever seen use the tool like I would. So I can see whether or not it's worth for me to buy. Let the tool do the work, stop pressing down on it
My order is coming on Monday! Boy I can’t wait! 😂😅🤣👍🏼✌🏼
Jaime Genova jr how is it, have you got the chance to use it?
Its a die grinder. its made for the 2 inch cut off wheels i had a 4 inch on mine in a pinch and it did fine for trimming.
I’ve been wanting to try trowing a cut off disk on mine to see if it could handle cutting a stubborn sway bar link, but I haven’t had the balls to do it.
I just got mine the other day and wanted to see how it cut with a wheel on it. Cut through a broken 3/8 extension no problem.
I just purchased this M12 right angle die grinder and so far I like it. I did order 2 extra 3 Ah batteries since I know I'll be using this tool quite a bit. 3" not recommended probably due possibly hitting fingers..great vid..👍
Physics are why 3” isn’t recommend. Higher edge speed and therefore higher projectile or disintegration risk.
Also more load on the tool probably.
Yea, loose some fingers and the wife would really be pi$$ed off. 😮
I love all my milwaukee m18 fuel tools I don't have any of m12 YET but they are coming. but I also like my 14.4
other than the big fuel impact, at this point I like the m12 line over the m18.
This is why Milwaukee is the best im hoping now they come out with a cordless "air" hammer,we'll see,thx buddy👍
george bonney90 cordless air hammer would make my year👍 How i wish!!!
I need more education on the attachments *PLEASE!!!* 🙏

I like how you showed all the attachments that would be good to use with this. Great video.
That toolbox mansion !! My god. Awesome video brother.
They make a sander/polisher too (also M12) that is better for the larger attachments. It’s slower - but it’s not brushless yet.
I've wanted one for years. I do my own auto mechanic work on my vehicle's (want something done right do it yourself 😆😆) except for high end specialty stuff. Thanks for the effort you put in the video showing what the tool is capable of, getting one now because of your video 👍
Lord knows I can’t wait to I get my hands on ones... good stuff bro
Lord know just dont cut your hands off with one of these...True stuff bro
I think Milwaukee tools are definitely cutting into snap ons bottom line.
I have the new snap on impact gun $900 and my old milwaukee gun is still stronger milwaukee and harbor freight Daytona jack
Snap on power tool sucks like they always did way too weak and expensive for that crap when u can get a milwaukee for cheaper and 4x more strong and durable
I have one on the way. I’m feeling better about my purchase after your video. 👍

Good video on showing and explinaning as well as demonstration and specs
Looks great! Will pick this up if it ever comes on special
What attachment are you using for the mounting of the pads?
Is it just my tool that the 1/4 inch doesn’t fit in the collet. I’m struggling to fit the shank in the collet.
Good video and man that is one expensive black wall your standing in front of
The only thing I want this for is rolocks for fiberglass prep
I just picked one of these up, can you maybe drop a link to these attachments? I have been looking and I ordered some off Amazon but it does not look like it fits right.
Looking for the tall 2" Plastic Roloc adapter that you are using on your Milwaukee Right Angle... can you share??
Having a hard time finding any attachments my home Depot sucks ass Lol
I just got one and it keeps cutting out using a 2" roloc non woven when trying to clean a rim and when i did try to suffer through a whole wheel the battery didn't last. Might be ok for home use but definitely not for work every day. I should have waited a few more years until it was up to par with the air version.
@ just the corrosion off the bead surfaces. It will run with a burr bit pretty good though.
How would this Tool be for reservestingIs aluminum Truck rims I have a set of rims I want to clean up clean up the face of it to Polish it to be aluminum face please comment back and how expensive is the full packageThank you for this video
Where can I get the attachment?
Hey I got this tool and was wondering let's say you would prep a steel caliper for paint what attachement would you use?
What's the best place to buy quality consumables at a good price?
Roloks are my favorite
Gpt this with a high output on memeorial day sale for 150 massive score
Any idea of the est runtime using a 6.0 battery and removing rust with the flapper wheel like you were doing?
Sweet tool!
TTC measured 150 Watt constant output. 6ah battery has 65Wh so probably 15 minutes tops I'd say

Where are you getting the arbor and abrasive wheels, can you put a hook and loop on this for sanding?
I get mine from any auto parts store, the arbor almost always come with a pack of discs, they don’t come with hook&loop.
Auto shop life is where it's at :)
Excellent tool i like mine its very handy
Best tool ever
what about 3" sanding flapdisc does it work with it?
tnx, off to see ur tour
I love this thing, it's a great tool for all sorts of things!! (the straight die grinder too!) Though I wouldn't do what it says on the box, about the bristle disks at 20k rpm, because it sends the ''hairs'' flying/breaking of.... ;)
Also, a 4Ah(or 6Ah) is the way to go, the 2Ah is empty in no time at all!
Great info. Thank you for sharing
really love the products a wee bit pricey for me female just starting out DIY ,then you have different battery & charger then accessories it just goes on and on disabled, mobile just, not a lot of money ,and the final I stay in Edinburgh SCOTLAND hi hi all, love your country and Milwaukee yeha.😎😎💕💕
I can relate with little money and being disabled. I still decided I want Milwaukee tools though so I am slowly building up my tool supplies! I'm thinking of getting the die grinders next! A lot of people are saying it cuts out a lot though with minimal pressure so I'm not sure just yet!
Do they have a good attachment kit? I could have a thousand uses for this👍 Now if they would make a chisel hammer👍👍👍👍
What is the name of green and yellow pads?
thanks for this info i really like that one for sure
Hello, do you know of an eraser wheel will work on this tool?
Can find one to sand car for paint only polisher's n grinders.
Can you use it to cut, like a metal grinder??
You can but there is no guards. I would rather use Milwaukee 2522-20 to cut metal.
Die grinders don’t have guards for some reason. Excellent for accessing tight spots though.
Cannot find one to buy in uk (full kit Not bare tool) .. Can anyone help please?
Great camera angle of your hand.
those wire wheels are probably rated at 4500rpm. This tool has min RPM 10k-25k which is why the wires fly out into your face.
Great video Jim heck of a set of accessories new Milwaukee die grinder is sweet
This is cool but WHY is the no such thing as a right angle (corded) electric die grinder/sander???? Why only pneumatic in right angle? I've wondered for years and just can't work out why.
Keep up the great reviews!
Face shield with wire brushes always
I’ve learned to use a face when using any rotary disc or wheels. I had glasses on using one of the paint stripper disc and chunks flew off and hit me in the lip. I always try to use a shield now.
nice demo thanks
I hate the fact that this cuts off when pressing too hard. If the motor dies I would rather buy another one than having to stop and reset the battery. Any other milwaukee tool won't shut off from pressure. Why this one does that?
You want that safety handle. Once you sit or roll over on one without it.......
Great review
What is a videahya?
Great in depth video, I love this tool. What brand is that 2” red flap disc?
Not sure I got them from cornwell
I think the yellow bristle wheel is coarser than the green so it might cut in a little better. The White is less coarse.
If you’ve never used an air filter these are great. th-cam.com/users/postUgkx_dppjvjF8BYEmPSDTcgCUdRsgWYLXNHN I ended up with three after starting out with one. Probably wouldn’t be good for auto body?
i can smell this video.
Great video! :}
ay mandaw ka uyam?
Would you use any of the roll-loks to remove gaskets, or are they too aggressive? Also do they leave too much abrasive residue?
Bristle disc works well
@@JRC54 It doesn't dig in to metal od leave abrasive residue?
Those disc are rubber. They do well if your careful
Man the Americans are hard done by, the full kit in Australia comes with 2x 6AH batteries
Great video bro
Good you know video you know
Are you an auctioneer?
plastic trigger should of been metal with a roller ball on the end or a standard trigger variable.. the led what were they thinking it dont light up the work area and its bluish color a high power clear white led where it lights up the work area or a ring light around the head.. i mean come on milwakee or techtronix who owns all the brand tools you need to start not charging tons of money for these things milwakee is way to expensive....
Now thats a tool box... or box wall
you gotta give a die grinder the utmost respect while in use.
but a right angle die grinder just seems like suicide to me.
Do NOT use this to cut metal with a cutoff wheel. No guard makes a 2" wheel a bad accident waiting to happen.
Straight tool would worh better more balance
its not designed for 3” disc
