I've been waiting for this recipe for days and here you've uploaded it days ago. These look amazing. I've never seen anything made like this before. I would have thought they were steamed one at a time and then stacked up. That's a great tip about using your finger to apply the sesame oil to avoid putting on too much. I need to get a steamer to do some gluten free experiments. Even if I never have the ambition to make the Peking Duck these would be good in so many other dishes too.
They look awesome and this was exactly what I was looking for. My hubby asked if we could make a Peking duck with the pancakes, sauce and vegetables. He forwarded me a recipe a friend used and I looked at it and said 'That's not a Peking duck'. Luckily I have a recipe for the duck - even though it's not fully authentic, but close enough. And now I can serve it with the real pancakes! Thanks!
Our food group had a Chinese New Year's Dinner last night and I made Peking Duck. I made your pancakes and I also bought some pancakes from a Chinese grocery store. Your pancakes were DELICIOUS!!! Everyone loved them. They were so much better than what you can buy in the store. Those were dry and tasteless. Your pancakes were easy to make and moist and flavorful. Thank you so much for your video. You made our dinner!
Hi Iris, I can't believe how quick the new year has come round again. Thank you for sharing that story with Iris, it made me smile this morning. Have a great week Steve

I was wondering that. Please tell how you freeze them? Wrapped in paper and plastic? Do you reheat in a pan or eat when they reach room temp? I guess it's how one prefer. They do take some heat from the filling, I guess. I love these asian pancakes. I use even for Taco.
@@exentr I freeze them in plastic bags quantity 8. Can be defrosted in microwave but I normally let them defrost naturally then cover them them with damp kitchen roll and heat them in microwave for about 1 minute. Works for me.
@@dizzynanny2370 Nice. Thank you! When I asked, I did seach TH-cam. I got a hit for my search. I often ask and then my old friends advice comes to mind. It's all there on the internet. It's only a matter of doing the search.
I would say these are an eat straight away pancake, although they sell them in packs in the stores. Nearly $7 - $9 for less quantity than I make here for about 50c. I guess they would keep fine. Actually I have eaten these the next day and they are just fine :) Steve
This is great, I really want to make these once I have purchased a steamer. After pancake day recently I enjoyed some crepes but thought it would be interesting to make some Chinese style ones as I always enjoy them in Chinese restaurants. What are some good accompaniments for them other than duck?
Look Fresh is always Best but you could make the Dough before it will be better than re heating them but saying that you could do it and I am sure they would still taste great but I think I might separate them and place a little greased paper between them, like they do in the stores, if I were to store them over night or even a few days. They might even Freeze well but I haven't tried it :( If you do, please let me know how they turn out :) Steve
Sorry Anne :) You would never Guess but I clean forgot to put this video up. I looked at my vid manager and thought suddenly!! Where's the Chinese Pancakes. I think putting up the Pita Bread made me skip a beat. If you can get these to work Gluten Free, I would love to see it in video. Have a great weekend Anne :) Steve
I,m from Spain. Thank you . You teach me very very good. Thanks

Thank you! Looks so authentic-- just like those I had in Beijing!

They look yum steve. Never tried Chinese pancakes. Do they keep fresh for a while or best to be eaten straight away?
I never had those, Steve. I have to start trying different food besides red stuff. lol
Ergh, I want some even more than I want some now 😂👌🏼
😍
Raah, how can you roll out the dough and get a complete circle, no crinkles, just perfect…

what is the diameter of the wooden steamer? Does it have to be bamboo steamer or can be used stainless steel?
imisslola321 About 8"
Very Very good video. What is 'fragrant' sesame oil?
It is just an oil extracted from Sesame seeds. Sold in many Asian Food Stores. Are you planning on making them? Let me know how they come out.
Steve
Anything I can use in place of a steamer or steaming basket?
a frying pan
Can we make the steam pancake ahead one day ? Thanks
Yes.
Hello, do you use rice or wheat flour. thank you
Rice
Can they be frozen, if so, at what stage?
Cool down after steaming and then wrap in cling film or airtight container:3days in fridge and freezer friendly.
How long do these last? Can you freeze them?
Dokebi Shi They last a few days in the fridge and they will freeze OK
Thank you!
Really good video and so simple to make..... but I cooked them for too long, so I need to redo them.... If you don't succeed try again ☺
+Delphine Caquelot Absolutely Delphine, let me know how they come out next time..
Steve
+Steve's Kitchen .... All redone again and all eaten. .. my mistake was I didn't steam all of them in the same time...
Delphine Caquelot At least you stuck at it, well done :)
Steve
These pancakes can be pan fried again and you'll end up with some yummy scallion egg pancakes.
+I Wen Chen Nice tip IWC, thanks for sharing, check out todays video th-cam.com/video/-C85VxLIhBk/w-d-xo.html and say Hi.

Sure 😊
Stir then add the rest of the water.
+laila abdoolla Why do you type all that? TH-cam treats it as Spam and your account will get suspended if you do it? Be careful. Thanks
Steve
2 cups of plain flour.
After another stir, let the mixture cool down.
0.5 teaspoons of salt.
Draw the dough together.
2 thirds of water.
