Dont give up on her, you can buy the entire tub for that this very reasonably! I had a 62 Willis years ago, they are a real blast to cruise around in. Very capable off road too. Come to think about it, mine lost 2nd gear, I found a place in Fort Worth Texas that I carried my transmission in and took one off the shelf, 200 bucks!
Thank you very much for these. I haven't twisted a wrench in years but this brings back pleasant memories of restoring cards ack in the 60's and 70's. He was a Navy recruiter and when out in the field visiting recruits he would keep a logbook and map of everything he spotted. We pulled out many 39 & 40 Fords and got them running in place. One memorable day was finding a 1937 Ford fastback that had set for 25+ years with trees growing up thru the engine compartment. Finally got it free and after a few hours he got it running and we actually drove it down the mountain for about 10 miles before trailering it. I still have flashback toi many cars we found when I get a sniff of 25 year old gas. Again...thank you for triggering some of those memories and allowing me to live vicariously thru you. If I lived close enough to you I would probably have plenty of grease under my fingernails giving you a hand. Keep up your drive...you have a real talent.
YESSSSSSSSSS!!! The Salty Tetanus Jeep (STJ-1) runs AWESOME!!! Great revival work! Some angle iron, square tubing, sheet metal & some stitches with the welder will make this a worthy member of the NNKH fleet - especially for towing all the rehabbed toys out to the river/lake during the upcoming summer season (I was shocked at how good a lot of the chassis metal looked through the floor!)! I, for one, love the jumping around because it keeps things interesting instead of predictable. Keep it coming, and I'd love to see this rig get street legit on the cheap!!! Cheers!!!

My grandfather had a M38 for many years, that he got at an Army surplus auction around 1960 for $50. Sold it in the late 90’s for $5k. I wish I still had it, but I had no place to store it, or much use for it at the time. I actually learned to drive in it. It’s sad to see the shape of yours, but I enjoy watching this video of you trying to get in going again. 👍🏻👍🏻
When you remove a diff or transmission plug, stick a small, powerful magnet on the base of the plug. That will catch much of the rust and other metallic crud before it does damage.
Don't know if anyone mentioned this below but I believe you have a 1965 CJ5 chassis and running gear with a late 1950's M38A1 body. The windshield is also newer than the body. Cool thing about the M38A1 fuel tank that was mounted under the drivers seat was the large filler neck. they had a built in funnel that slid out of the neck. Good luck with the rebuild.
Dude that was such a good episode. I would love to see a part 3 with it opened up on the road or maybe a roadtrip to somewhere offroad! Keep up the excellent content 🇮🇪🤝🇺🇸

You are local to where I grew up and this video takes me back. I worked at a company in Morrisville called Blue Chip and we remanufactured water pumps. I recognized your pump right off but I never new what motor they went on. I Remaned hundreds of those little things, cool to see one in the wild. I recognize the Plymouth one also, again, never new what they went on, I was always a Chevy guy.
Ok, let me know what you think. Put a whole new tub on, tidy up everything to make it safe. True dual exhaust is a must have! But best yet, there's a bull gear overdrive you can install on the transfer case! You take the PTO cover off, put in the OD kit, and it comes with it's own shifter. It will work in all 3 gears, giving you a 6 speed, or really a 3x2 transmission! Then just daily driver that baby into history!
As long as the frame isn't rusted through you can bring her back with either a tub insert or freehand sheet metal work. I once used old car hoods from a junkyard to put floorboards in an old Ford pickup, do what you gotta do! 😎😎
03:24 that thing you were holding is the remains of an example of the precursor to the folding E-tool you used in part 1 to dig out the front tire so you could get to the valve stem.

Hi, l bought the jeep from Chris and have been getting it together
Part 3 for sure... work the mechanicals , keep it simple, minimalist, but KEEP THAT PATINA !!!!! 😊 👍👍👍
Glade the spark into fixing it after you drove it made you think twice looking forward for part 3!
AFTER WATCHING YOU AND THAT JEEP, I HAVE MOVED YOU UP A NOTCH ON MY LIST OF SUPERHEROS RIGHT UNDER JOHN WICK!! AWESOME!!
Fuel can holder looked like an IV bag pumping life support. So much potential, you’ve done a great job on the cheap so far.
Pretty ballsy driving that on the roads. Amazing how you just fix stuff. Keep upthe good work.!
I care little for auto maintenance (Tacoma) but I like the channel, the road trips are fascinating and fun
The jeep must live on! My favorite yet
No, you must be a very interesting neighbour to have, always a rusty moment!! . A new body shell and the Rusty Warrior will be on the road.
I am impressed how you got that old jeep working this far! my suggestion for the name of it is: the beatle Bailey. in case you don't know, that was a cartoon with guy that was in the military. a slacker private named Beatle Bailey.
Sure you could make a clam shell to clear the chunks out of your well, you got the smarts , the clamshell and a capstan ,and a boom over the well. Easy peasy as Mortski says:)
I like that dauntless death trap. I think it is very cool that it’s being brought back
Вот сколько смотрю такие видео и при этом не перестаю удивляться надежности техники тех лет...Даже спидометр работает! ))
Part 3 too please. I have bought a 1968 Jeepster... Convert. But mine isnt so Death Trapish... Gonna spark it up and your video is great to help me some tricks. Thank you for creating the videos.
Absolutely keep working on it… and I’ll keep watching!
Please part three. So many memories we had a jeep like that in Alaska we used when I was a kid. Its name was Lucifer. Great Jeep
I'd love to see a part 3 on this rig! And I absolutely love your idea about running straight pipes out the back or dumps!

You have inspired me to get through the mundane challenges in life! If you can make this Jeep Drive - we can do ANYTHING!!! Thanks so much!!!
That is awesome!
