    It definitely helps that your mother in-law has such good taste in furniture and decor. She knows what she likes and collects lots of beautiful things in the specific style she likes so shopping her belonging for things to decorate with is both, much more meaningful and cohesive. Her home is turning out so beautifully. You guys are doing a wonderful job.

      Today we went through the left over decor and started adding it to books and cranny’s (will show later in another video) and it was so fun. It’s kind of like a treasure hunt in the house!

    Painting the ceiling was definitely the right call. It’s great to see what can be done for so little money but a lot of thought. Inspiring as always, thank you ♥️

      When I was 18, I painted my tiny, dark bathroom ceiling with semigloss paint. I was stunned at how much brighter it was afterwards. Now I always use semigloss on bathroom and kitchen ceilings

      @@SpaceMakerMethod I work at a fabric and craft store. Last Christmas I was ringing up a woman who said this year's colors don't work with what she already had, her reds weren't quite right. It is so silly to me to buy completely new everything because the shade is off. My family has been using most of the same ornaments and things since I was born in 2000

    Well done! Looks great! I think it’s great that you do the makeovers in their style rather than just how you would have it in your own house.

      I agree! I think this is what sets TSD--and April--apart. Most other makeover channels can look similar, but your attention to their details is what makes it so unique. Thanks for sharing!

      Thanks guys! I mean, let's be real, I'm V stubborn and always want to do it my way (my mother can confirm 🤪) but after working with more and more people I've realized that everyone has their own style and budget and it's much more rewarding to work within those guidelines.

      I know right!?? Most toothbrushes are so expensive. I love this one. That was Jackson’s I was showing (I replaced mine like his) and I’m going to get one for him too. Now that I have a sleek black one on the counter I hate looking at his 🤪 (but also it’s super old and gross). I really do swear by electric toothbrushes!!

    • @charmaine8506

      TRUE! I used to have one electric toothbrush that cost me more than a hundred bucks and did not even last for 2 years, the battery is just worn out and required very frequent charging🥲

    Typically,when you have two shower curtains,the plastic one stays inside and the pretty cloth one hangs outside of the tub. (hides the tub and doesn’t get wet and grungy on the bottom,don’t have to wash it as often.)🥰

      The vanity is going back to the person it belongs too because they don't have space to store it anymore, but the fish will definitely find a home.

    Love the wall pocket and baskets. As great as the cabinet was it was wrong for that bathroom. And isn’t it amazing all the small stuff that’s in most bathrooms? I get overwhelmed and want to throw it all out.

    • @SpaceMakerMethod

  • @Brigitte_Cantin

    Good grief, I'm so glad you got the cabinet out of there, dont we all have enough of our own stuff without having to store other people's lol. This past week I took your advice and managed to get almost everything off my bathroom floor, wow what a difference. We have been renovating our entire house since moving in, but hubby is a builder but not a plumber or electrician. He can do the basics but as we know bathrooms need more than that. To make a long story short, we need to add a bathroom then renovate our only 1. So, not for a couple of years. We did change the medicine cabinet fortunately. So, I've been psyching myself up to paint the cabinets. I cannot take anything outside, way too much snow, and the body will only allow me very short bursts of work. (Crps) I have beautiful knobs but I'm not happy with the cabinets. Oh, please tell me you have a 17" toilet? I know you're tall and for us average height fold, it was a life changer so I can just imagine how it would be for you. Sorry for the babble, I could keep going but it's a book already lol. Lots of love 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖

    • @SpaceMakerMethod
      @SpaceMakerMethod  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh man, they've talked about replacing that toilet... it's sooo short! But that's not within budget now. But at least they have the taller one in the water closet. And I feel ya on the cabinets, it's so rainy here that's one reason we decided against it because we just didn't have time to wait for them to dry and the weather. I hope your bathroom gets settled quickly and I'm glad it's starting to feel better!

    Love your videos!
    Here some critique: In this series something is annoying. I believe it is the music. It is rather loud and unbelievably repetitive. It's probably just me.
    But watching the progress and the end results is worth hitting the mute button all the time, so not to miss when you are saying something.

  • @jennylhenry78
    @jennylhenry78 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I really like what you've been able to do for your in-laws and for your parents (I watched that series prior to this one)! But I just want to say, and I know you had said painting isn't your favorite, but the order you paint kind of drives me nuts. 😫
    Cutting in should always be done first bc if you don't then you see your brush marks over what has been rolled. And a ceiling actually should always be done before painting walls bc it speckles when you do it.
    So for future projects keep these steps in mind...
    1. Cut in the ceiling, don't worry about getting it on the walls bc you'll paint over that.
    2. Roll the ceiling.
    3. Paint the trim everywhere; again, don't worry about getting it on the walls bc it will be painted over.
    4. Cut in the walls!!
    5. Roll the walls.
    👌🏻
    I'm really not trying to be snotty, but I have painted many many rooms over the years and have learned from experience the best order. 💕

    I was so excited to look up that label maker after you said it was the best $25 you ever spent. Here in Canada, it is $89.77. Wow. Not the first time I realized that either we Canadians are being gouged or somebody is making a lot of money the easy way but it is irritating to say the least. Great job on the bathroom, April.

    I'm a mom, love what you are doing at your inlaws home as well as what you are doing at your moms. They will love and cherish everything forever. However, the fact thst you and your husband are going so far away afterwards will make them miss you more because every inch of their homes have your and your husband's fingerprints. Meaning, your decorating styles, your DIY's in every room. I don't know how will they manage to live on a day to day basis looking at every space in their house thst will remind you and him. Sort of bitter sweet memories. Other than that, they will be comfortable and very happy with the new look of their home.

    What’s even better than the clear plastic boxes are the clear plastic drawers. They look like little dressers,usually three drawers.(various sizes) That way,you don’t have to bend down to peer in and pull a box out of the middle of a stack.(especially as you get older)😖 I have them under my bathroom sinks and bottom section of the linen closet (I use the wheels that come with them in the linen closet and just roll them partway out) And like your boxes,you can pull the whole drawer up onto the counter to care for a task like hair cutting or first aid,etc.😁

    I definitely agree on adding greenery in each room! 👍🏻 It for sure lifts moods. I like to find just the right faux piece for each room bc I don't want to have to worry about keeping a plant alive and don't want to constantly be buying flowers.

    The door handles on the bathroom door look so great, worth thst investment. :)
    I took down shelving in my own space, and found a suitable bakers rack thing that's " not deep " but has shelving and I discovered it is more useful than wall shelving. It can hold pretty trays, baskets deep enough to hold bath items I use ,body lotions, etc . Much more useful for me. Of course, it's personal choice. I liked the shelves I had, but with a narrow rack, it's more useful.
    Yes, paint ceilings white- white . Good job ! I'm glad to see " shopping the home decor " , because it's good to save certain items, and those look nice in the room .

  • @DipityS
    @DipityS 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I did like the colour scheme brought into the bathroom - a change is as good as a holiday. It was a perfectly good little bathroom - I kept thinking if I had a house with a bathroom like that, I wouldn't mind it one bit. But, yes, a lick of paint to keep up with the rest of the house - and some of those lovely ornaments used - I particularly liked the little wall vase for some reason - I think because it gave off 1930's glamour looks and I'm a bit in love with that look right now. I thought it look spruced up and freshened and that's just what you want.
