      It's not hard to find mobile home owners it's hard to find owners who will admit to living in them, because people are embarrassed by it for some reason. It's "cool" and trendy to sell everything and live in a travel trailer or converted bus, it's hip and stylish to sell it all and live in a converted shed called a "tiny house" but for some reason it's "white trash" or hillbilly, or poor, to live in the same exact things as stated above but simply called a mobile home.

      @@Amandahugginkizz I think the tide is changing on that . This economy has really put things into perspective for many people, since a lot of people are struggling and looking for alternative dwellings like you mentioned. I was one of those people who thought " no way a mobile home". Now I'm like " who cares, its a roof over your head and a warm place to sleep ". Also I'm absolutely addicted to watching these mobile home make overs and full remodels. I'm considering a used mobile home now so I can live mortgage free, then do remolding as I can afford it.

    You did an awesome job! Just remember wood filler comes in handy if you want to hide imperfections before you paint like the bottom of the vanity. You can fill it and sand it, so by the time you paint it nobody would even know it was damaged!

    I love the colors and the makeover is quite the transformation. I am curious, though, why you didn’t use wood filler on the damaged area at the bottom corner of the vanity before painting. Please understand, I am not trying to offend, I’m genuinely curious. I grew up in a mobile home (back in the 60s-family of 5 in a 300sqft single wide), and my youngest sister and her husband currently live in a double wide that they are working to update. They have run into multiple problems trying to update it because traditional materials (doors, doorknobs, cabinetry, windows, light fixtures, etc) don’t work in mobile homes like they do in brick & mortar homes. I appreciate your videos and enjoy seeing the finished projects. Thank you.

    Looks great! I have a mobile as well and you can replace the vanity with a sink and vanity unit for as little as $129 at home depot. 1st thing I did in my home was get rid of the plastic sinks and install Kohler fixtures, it was really budget friendly. $49 for sink and fixture. I also got rid of the strips in walls by applying a premixed drywall mud, then sanded and painted. Mobile home living is a fun DIY never ending project. Best of luck to you with yours :)

    Your bathroom turned out really good but let me give you a little tip to save you some time what you should have done is paint your ceiling your doors and your trim first because you wouldn't have had to take anything off then let that dry then tape off the trim and everything and go back with your paint on the walls it would have saved you a whole day just some information and a tip for next time but like I said it turned out really nice and you did do a good job

      Gray is the new neutral. It’s everywhere and it’s awesome. It’s a wonderful base pallet for all colors. My house has gray all in it and then I have pops of color with it. Tan and beige were in style for almost 40 years, if not more, and so now gray has taken over - thank God. Tan and beige make people look ill. LOL So just throw in some color and you’re good to go.

    I haven't ever lived in a MH before but I have some friends who said they have rebuilt theirs 2x or 3x since it was bought in the 1970s. I've seen a steal deal for $50k in FL that's making me double think if I can buy it for cash, can I renovate? The brand of MH that I like aren't in FL, its Solitaire. They remove the wall dividers and tape float the walls, and they use ash wooden cabinets. Idk if all MH have PVC plumbing, but can we go thru to insulate the pipes so they don't burst in the freezes? I do know a woman who is an electrician for MH, so I want to ask her to go thru it to make sure there's no fire hazards. What am I missing? HVAC needs replaced too. That's cheap enough to get done, so I won't panic unless there's a water leak, how can I check to see how old the HW is?

    I am painting & doing diy projects my bathrooms. One grey & one bright white. The gray on your walls pulls purple. What's the name of the color? I have a Behr paint in Gray called Rock Crystal in my bedroom. It pulls a little bit lavender but it's a gray. I love it. I reframed the mirrors in my bathrooms. You won't break the mirror. Have the hardware cut the wood for you and use gorilla glue liquid nails in a caulking tube. Mine look sooo good now 😁

    What is the trick to getting the paint to stick to the mobile home walls? My husband and I just bought a mobile home and he is attempting to paint the walls of one of the bedrooms so he can use it as his art studio. He bought a $60 gallon of Sherwin Williams paint and primer in one (satin finish) and the paint literally beads up on the walls and the places it’s appears to stick, he can just scrape off easily with a fingernail (or anything that bumps the wall). He has tried sanding and cleaning all the walls really good, which helped some, but the paint still isn’t sticking like it should. He then went out and bought a gallon of Zinsser all surface primer in hopes that that would fix the issue. Although it did make a difference, it still peels off if scratched with a fingernail.
    We’ve painted quite a few walls over the years, but this is our first time painting mobile home walls so we are both a little confused by the unexpected results we are getting… especially with using such high end paint. Any help, advice, or ideas you could share would be greatly appreciated!
    PS! I love how your bathroom turned out! And I love the faux granite countertop. I did a small tabletop a few years ago and it fooled a lot of people! Haha 😂

  • @briemills9209
    @briemills9209 ปีที่แล้ว

    You should always remove a door knob assenbly when painting a door and take down the shower curtain rod, for sure. Also I would have stripped off the damaged formica because the finish will go crappy in that spot. The end result looks very nice though.

  • @guineverependragon9804
    @guineverependragon9804 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Please eliminate the background music. It's too loud and annoying. For novices: I suggest you use drop cloths on the floor and tub, also tape everything off before painting. In a tiny space it's easy to make a mess. Also if you're using a paint roller over your head, wear a do rag or you'll be getting paint out of your hair. Remember to clean areas of touch, i.e. around light switches and door frames.

    You are doing a great job. I did notice that the shower wall lifted when you were painting and if you don’t mind me suggesting you might want to go around the shower wall completely with waterproof caulk so not have water seeping behind there and causing mold build.

    Why didn’t you take some spackle and fix the corner of your countertop and the lower right hand corner of your cabinet and then sand it smooth?

  • @donnap587
    @donnap587 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    You can fix the corner of the vanity trim with car Bondo, you can get it at Walmart and smooth it on the broken off trim, paint over it and it looks just like brand new. Also a little silver paint does wonders for a risky shower rod

    Love your video. I have a mobile home with the panels with wallpaper. Can you give me any hints on how to paint them? Also, I noticed on your video that you painted over broken sidings on the vanity. Why did you not fix them or was that not a concern?

    As retirees, we are looking to downsize to a mobile home, too. I shall watch your videos with great interest! I have seen other diyers remove the plastic strips that hide the seams on the walls, and spackle over it before painting. Have you considered this?

    you did a wonderful job of decorating. im going to be looking into a mobile home myself in the new year and i dont mind if i have to repaint etc. its the fun part. i liked seeing your instruction on doing the faux marble on your counter. it would be an easy fix to getting new counters installed and also for the kitchen as well.
