    Well done, April! It can't have been easy for you, but you show such respect for your mother-in-law's taste and have made her a beautiful, comfortable home - neat and tidy yet lived in.Some make-overs look great, but you wouldn't dare sit down and put your feet up in them!

    This was a great series! I love your MIL's taste in her collections and antiques and how you were able to fit it into the makeover. Shopping from what we already love and own and to display it in a new way is so satisfying. I would for sure love to live in that house.

    April….This video was worth the wait! I agree about adding the half bath. It’s beautiful, convenient for your family, and adds $$$ value if and when they decide to sell. I forgot about the sink in that bathroom. Love it!! I was looking at buying a couple of rugs from Ruggable, because I have grandkids and pets. Might reconsider that. You might not contact them, but they will probably get in touch with you. 😄I think the house looks amazing! Thank your mother in law for allowing us this peek into her home.

    She has some stunning furniture pieces, I love how you placed them in the right spot and the whole house has a better feel, and that green dishware is so beautiful and compliments the space the way you have decorated all the pieces. What a lovely living dinning room. So beautiful! Great job April!

    She has beautiful furniture and 'knick knack' pieces. The livingroom room definitely shines. The shower curtain will look so nice with the rug in the bathroom. That is a great, comfortable house. Thumbs up to the makeover..😊

    I really like how this home truly reflects your MIL and things that are special to her. It’s so lovely. I like her taste, she has some beautiful pieces! It’s SO refreshing to see this instead of the generic grey and white and homes that all start to have the same aesthetic we’ve been seeing the past 10 years. Great job!

    Wow it looks so good! What a big difference! So much calmer than it was before!
    I like what you did adding the flowers, I think greenery in a house always makes it look more finished and lived in…… although I have a slight plant obsession (nearly 50 plants in a 2 bed flat……. But I don’t really have ornaments, so I think it’s not to crazy!)

    I've learned so much about decluttering and using what I have through all your makeovers!
    The piece that still really intimidates me is the DIY part -- I know next to nothing about painting, replacing doorknobs, hanging shelves, etc...It would be helpful if you did a miniseries on tips and tricks you've found for DIY, esp on a budget / with limited tools!

    One thing I learned in hunting for a new bathmat myself is -you can have nonslip and you can have washable but you can’t have both 😂 the nonslip part on the back is what makes it go all stiff and wrinkly in the washer.

    • @mapleleaf0
      @mapleleaf0 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      To clarify, it's considered a kitchen mat, but it's not one of those thick squishy kitchen mats. It's more flat and has a soft "tooth" to the touch. Patterns I've seen are not kitchen-specific and my mom uses hers in the bathroom.

    I like your mix of fake and real greenery. Some fakes can look tacky, but you did a good job with your choices. I always opt for real plants, but some spaces they just aren't practical. I agree with Ruggable. I have a number of clients that have them, and I am just not a fan. They dont hold up. And most do not wash well in standard washing machines. Truthfully I am not a huge fan of rubber backed rugs overall. She needs to watch her pets. They tend to pee on the rubberized rubs, something about the smell. For Bathrooms I prefer the solid cotton bath mats, kitchens the gel filled mats and entry's, an inexpensive low pile rug that can be pressure washed or replaced as needed. This transformation was beautiful.

  • @AnnekeOosterink
    @AnnekeOosterink 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I wonder if ironing the edges of the rugs would make a difference in how much they curl up. It may have to do with the way they're constructed, or maybe one part of the rug has shrunk a tiny bit in the wash and pulls at the rest.
    In that case ironing would definitely my first step. You might be able to stretch the fabric back out if you pull on them really hard in all directions.
    I do this with my dish towels. They tend to shrink in the middle more than around the edges, so they almost make a sort of hourglass shape instead of a square. Especially those woven bands of different colours tend to shrink in the wash. So I pull very hard on the edges of those stripes and then they are a square again.
    It would be harder to do with a rug, they're much bigger, and I imagine it will get harder the older you get, to put some force on the fabric.
    It sucks that they do this, especially since they're pretty pricey.

  • @graceaxisa4213
    @graceaxisa4213 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I'm curious...were the rugs placed in a dryer after they were machine washed? I would imagine that that would warp the mats quite a bit. I'd air dry mine, preferably on a clothes line, if I ever purchased machine washable mats. Having said that, if they are labelled as clothes dryer safe, then they're clearly faulty.

    I have four ruggable rugs which I have not yet washed. I will not put them in the dryer and will put them back down immediately so I hope that prevents edge rolling. Trust me, if it does not, I will be phoning the company!!!

      If you do phone them I'd be curious to hear what they say.
