Islam Safarov the orininal singer who sang this died a few years back, they still perform with a new singer, and that is who you're thinking of. You're the one getting confused here, he's fucking dead, get over it. Fuck
Me too! I was already in my 20’s when this song came out. It’s a very kind and sweet song that speaks for kids who know they’re different and trying to find their way.
When I was 12 years old I was with my BF at Olive Garden eating with my family one night , There was a sound waves across the hwy, me and my and buddy snuck out the restaurant and walked to the sound waves store and bought the Crash test dummies tape. that was around 1993 I still have that same tape. Cool memory.
Among the many brilliant things about this album the best to me is the bass and drum combo. I am a bass player and absolutely love the way this guy plays but if I were a drummer I would not be able to resist playing along with the entire album.
freakin' love this song ------------- simple and pleasing ----------- love it when the lead singer and keyboard player do their duets ---------- over 25 years old already ------------- time flies!
The Crash Test Dummies were the first concert I ever saw at Massey Hall in Toronto and I remember them sounding a lot like their CD and it was a VERY good concert! Great venue too!!
Mientras escuchaba a type o negative.. Poco tienen que ver, pero ambos cantantes tenían unas cualidades y una sonoridad única o muy peculiar.. A gustos.. Dese luego.. Buenísimos los dummies
At that time I was going through difficult situations in my life, but that song gave me happiness. I didn't know what it was about ... but that didn't matter, I was glad to hear it. I love this song. Bogota Colombia.
The group changed the words for the Arsenio Hall gig. Instead of the boy and the church floor, it was a story about tonsils. Still a beautiful piece of work.
@@JoEbY-X Tbh I don't think people were too concerned with offending Christians back then. Thinking about everything I lost in my Life…my father, my mother, my grandma, my pets…this song talks about evrything. This song is about Life….everyone’s life
Well, Brad said in a few interviews it's about outcasts, that's what ties all the lil composite stories. I think once you suffer through child abuse, you do feel like an outsider. "One kid had it worse than that"....I'm sure that's the lyric that strikes a chord with folks. Back in the 90s, DV was just getting into the public eye/getting talked about regularly.....so it make sense, for sure.
I bought this amazing bands first two albums back in the day and that was the end, For some reason I checked them out again last week and done some decent research into them, Thanks to you Bacchus, I have stumbled upon many of their live material, I liked them very much in the 90's, I am now trying to track down everything they have done, By the way, How gorgeous is Ellen Reid ?? Thanks for the huge work you do in bringing these underrated geniuses to the masses, Thankyou again Bacchus
I remembered this on the radio when I was about 6, then I heard it in my favorite comedy" dumb n dumber". now as an old guy I have rediscovered this band and I am obsessed. Great performers. I hope they live in cool houses and feel good.
Seoul Korea 2019.... This song reminds me of travel memory at County Sligo in Ireland 1995... while I was driving Hertz Car from Dublin ,listening from Radio FM.. and I bought CD in Tower record London ,,still I keep it,,
Its this mix at the Arsenio Show. It kinda baffles me when bands and/or the venues(shows) do not maximize the mixes at their board. You can hear ALOT of missed opportunities over the years with alot of bands. This is one of the examples of how GOOD these performances and mixes can be. The mix on the rooftop performance by the Beatles was finally maximized a few years back when they released the official video for one of the songs(Dont Let Me Down) here on TH-cam. The mix is not as good as this one, but it is about as good as you could hope for with an almost 50 year old recording. Even though the most popular act of all time was being recorded, they didnt have access to the very best equipment in the world at that time(whether by hook, crook, or pinch), believe it or not.
@@carvinblack I guess it depends on the bass player and the band or the venue. Every bass player I've ever known won't stare 800 watt stacked cab right behind them there may be a direct input from the cab to the PA somewhere but I guarantee you that bass players got something behind him he's listening to. Honestly the bass player's the only one that has a little bit of free rein in this song I just uploaded a rough draft version of me doing this song and the guitar pretty straightforward not a lot of room for any type of improvising it's pretty much driving the Rhythm with the piano and also did upload a good enough final version of the B side of this single Superman song anybody gives a s*** and wants to hear somebody that can't f****** sing play and sing it in their living room it's on my Channel with the rest of my living room guitar player crap. The chord changes and the melody alone make this a masterpiece. Makes my neck hairs stand up. Love this song

That bass line is unreal
That whole album, the bass is my favorite part. I know all the base lines like they are secondary melodies. Brilliant stuff.
Just found this video, and yes that bass line pops and is spot on.
lmao I'd never heard the tonsil verse before. That's the greatest thing anyone has ever written
I wonder if he didn't want to use the church verse because of the crowd
@@Thornspyre81 I was thinking the same thing. Just avoiding the drama. smart move
there's another verse that was used for a couple of shows in the 90s too that replaces the church verse too, little googling reveals it
