Fantastic story - absolutely entertaining! Judith certainly defined "tenacious" back on Feb7'64. And great work David just letting the lady talk without interrupting her as many interviewers do. Looking forward to your next instalment!
Just recently, I saw on TH-cam the first appearance of the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. The last time I saw it was February 9th, 1964, the night it aired. What struck me as I watched it again just recently is that it was exactly as I remembered it. I was just 7 years old, and to think that almost 60 years later, the memory of an event was so close to actuality that it just blows my mind. Talk about making an impression!
So many people have said the same thing. They are immediately transported back to their home and seeing it on TV with such a clear memory. Amazing the impression it made.
A great story! On February 9, 1964 I was sitting on the floor in our living room as close to the TV as I could possibly get. Part way through The Beatles' first set, I turned around to look at my parents and they were both staring at ME, completely baffled. I knew then that a big change was taking place. They didn't understand the dimension we were in, the dimension The Beatle's were creating.
Thank you, I know what she is like and just wanted her to tell her story her way. She is a lovely lady, and wait for the next 2 episodes! It gets better!!
I held onto The Beatles Feb. 9, ‘64 and have never let go. At 16 I fist heard them 2-9-65 in Indiana, then moved to Arizona then into Los Angeles within months. Same glory everywhere on the radio stations…. Beatles played and played. I traveled with a plug in plastic radio and quickly found the rock stations and ran to hear a Beatles tune, hugging the radio! In Arizona August, went to the premiere of A Hard Days Night, paid 75 cents. The entire audience screaming the whole movie. I couldn't afford their first LP until L. A. While going to high school thete I became the first female teen DJ at a junior college campus radio station. I got to play endless Beatles. Woo hoo. I saw The Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl 1965. In the 80’s my sister in law became my favorite Beatle Ringo’s personal assistant. Over years: The absence and fragmenting of my immediate family was compensated for me by holding on to the music for all it was worth; to this day, never disappointed.
Omg, I love what you are telling. “In Love for the rest if my life!!” That was it for me… like your story…. I was 16, not a child when i fell in love with them. I too, born in 1948. Loved Rydell, Everlys, pre Beatles. Yes, I heard The Beatles on a Florida radio station in December 1963. I made my friend stop the car! The day The Beatles came into my life and we all saw them for the very first time. : 10 days before February 9, 1964, our mother had just left our lives. (Oh no!) I held onto
That was pretty neat. I was about 4mos old when they arrived for the 1st Ed Sullivan show appearance. These videos make for more upbeat history after sleuthing through NWO conspiracy videos etc. The Beatles and that whole thing can lighten the heart. Thanks for that fun story, Judy!
@@BrightmoonLiverpool I still have bits of memory when they broke up. I was 6 or 7. I remember all of a sudden we had the Let It Be and McCartney album laying around right around the same time. One of my bros is about 9yrs older than me. So he must have bought those albums. And a little talk around that atmosphere of the Beatles break up. I definitely knew who they were, even at that age.
One thing for sure here....we all know just how inpactfull the surge was...the musical genus of McCartney/Lennon alone atest to that. The very personal testimony of this determined fan equals such. The remarkable thing is..after 60 years...the sparatic energy spews as if it were yesterday....AFTER 60------SIXTY-----years. Astonishing. That's some power for just a rock and roll band...wouldn't you agree?
Did you Brits see our Sullivan show in 1964 live or did they let you see just that one show because it was YOUR Beatles? or was it years later you saw what our big fuss was about? ALSO: I want a deep investigation of how and why their one microphone was out! everything was perfect at the rehearsal! that should be one whole video in this series with the people still alive who KNOW what happened if there ARE any.
We had never heard of the Ed Sullivan Show over here, so it wasn't shown here. There was some coverage in the newspapers, but the show was unknown here. Tell me more about the microphone and I can ask some questions for you?
On "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" you can't hear John, but his mic is OK again on "I Saw Her Standing There.' I think those were their second set. I wonder if Sullivan's sound people realized the glitch and fixed it for the second number. On their first set, "Till There Was You" was a Paul solo. Not sure about John's mic on "She Loves You." There was definitely something wrong at least for part of one set.
@@Susan-gr2xdI heard they did a sound check that morning or the night before(rehearsal). The sound tech's marked the volume and tone locations with a grease pencil. Then later on a midnight shift(?)janitor cleaned them off. I noticed also that John's mic is too low for the first couple songs.
Great interview. Great book! Every time I read it I’m cast back to 1964.
It is fabulous isn't it?

Can't wait! Paul waved at me once--I was on cloud 9 for days.
This is great! I was born 10 years tok late but I love living through your experiences!
Likewise, I was born in 1965, so I love discovering these stories.
Amazing interview David what a story ! 👍👍😎🎸(👍47 )

You're right. It is incredible, and it isn't going away. It was an era-defining group that changed history.

Correction, Feb 9 , 1964, indeed!

John's mic seemed to be out. I've always wondered about that.
