    I WISH I still went to crops. I actually used to host them. I stopped scrapping for about 12 years because I hurt my back (long story) but I’m starting up again…finally! Yay
    I would OVERpack when I went to crops. Now I have my very own scrapbook room which I lovingly call my SCraft Room so all my stuff is here and I can’t even imagine trying to lug all my “essentials” with me anywhere. More is More. Lol.
    But maybe one day I’ll go to a Crop again 🤩🥰

      Yay for a return to scrapping! I understand completely! I don't have much time or ability to attend crops much, but I definitely enjoy them.

    I watch what I did at my 3 day get together to scrap w my sisters and completed 24 pages. I did realize what I could do for next time with all your tips.

      That’s amazing! 24 pages is brilliant! I’m far too chatty to accomplish that much in a weekend. 😂

    I have learned over several years to be more prepared. Sure cuts down on the supplies when I know what I plan to do! So I think I take just enough. Always a little extra project just in case I’m more productive than I think I will be. 🤣

    • @lauraalbertscrafts
      @lauraalbertscrafts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely! I find a few well-rounded kits are all I really need supply-wise and really forced myself to be realistic on what tools I would actually use!

    Used to take the kitchen sink to crops and retreat. Today I take 2-3 kits and or collections, my tool box, 2-3 punches, circle cutting system, black ink pad with 1-2 stamps and my word thickers case. One bag plus the tool caddy. That’s it… thanks for your wonderful videos!

    • @lauraalbertscrafts
      @lauraalbertscrafts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! I find more than that really just slows me down. Why make it harder on myself to make decisions while chatting away? Keeping it simple is so much better for me.

    I used to take so much stuff and not get much done. I've found that planning and being focused on, "what is it I want to get done?", has helped me pack much less and get so much more done!

    Just got back from a three day retreat. I really tried to pack less but not like you. That is my goal. I find with less options you can make more. You don’t get as overwhelmed. This is a great video! I ALWAYS overpack and don’t use half of what I bring! I also love that you got 10 layouts done and they are beautiful! I’ve never understood the people who do 50 layouts or more! To me each page is an act of love and a piece of art. They take me a long time. To each her own I guess.

    • @lauraalbertscrafts
      @lauraalbertscrafts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you, Norreen! My layouts take about an hour to an hour and a half, but are pretty detailed. My brain can't stay in scrappy mode for more than three layouts in a row though, I have to take a break! I know a lot of people take classes at these crops and that really helps you make a lot more when it's all planned out for you! I've done both underpacking and overpacking, it's definitely about finding balance!

      I always overpack, the others always say if they don't have it ... Ria will have it. I love cropdays or retreats and just have been away with 6 other friends. With the Covid here 3 couldn't make it and that was not fun, so normally we were with 10.

    • @lauraalbertscrafts

      My consideration with packing was that I would have to haul it through the hotel and that was motivation enough to keep it simple! Plus, I know myself, I will spend more time chatting than scrapping, lol! I get overwhelmed easily with too much stuff too, thanks to my ADHD. I love that you have regular crop friends! I'm hoping that I can make some like that too!

    Lovely layouts! I used to over pack, but after watching many TH-cam videos of how to make kits, I can say now I just pack kits and the photos that go with the layouts and scrap those. Occasionally, I bring some stuff to make cards if I some birthdays or holidays are coming up and I need to send some cards out.

    Love, love a weekend crop! But my driving radius is just 1 1/2 hours! Wow, you’re a diehard, to drive 8 hours!! And, I overpack - shew, I would say 6 to 8 bags!! Only 1 crop out of maybe 30 did I run out of stuff to work on.

    • @lauraalbertscrafts
      @lauraalbertscrafts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Normally, I'm not as willing to drive that far, but I was excited to meet some new people. I do wish there were more local crops though! Thank you for these tips. I love the way you pack! Great layouts.
    Can you give me the name again of the IKEA holder you took? Or a link? That looks ideal for me.
    This is a tad off topic... did you say that you ALWAYS cut up the journalling cards in your paper collections? I thought I had seen you using the B side of one as a background, I'm trying to decide if I want to cut mine, or wait. Some I look at my gut says that I'll likely get more use of the 'non journal card' sides.
    As always I adore all your layouts, especially the first one, and the third one. Though really, who am I kidding? I love them all.
    Frivolous comment: I adore your glasses!

    • @lauraalbertscrafts
      @lauraalbertscrafts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So glad it was helpful! It's the Ikea Fjalla, but I'm not sure if they're still available or not. I don't always cut up every page of cut-aparts that I get, just the ones in a new collection that I intend to keep together. If I like the other side as well, I usually buy two copies of that page. I hope that helps!

    Love that you did not pack a ton of stuff. You had plenty to make beautiful layouts and probably could have made 10 more with your supplies! ❤️

      Absolutely! I was prepared to make more, but ran out of time and energy. It was so much fun though and we laughed so hard our sides hurt!

    Hi Laura! I was wondering if you happen to know if your desk organizer is still being sold at IKEA. I wasn’t sure how to spell it so I could look it up. TIA

      It's called the Ikea FJALLA and I don't think they are carrying it anymore, unfortunately. I did see a few on ebay though.

    Do you use the circle cardboards you made as a template?

    • @lauraalbertscrafts
      @lauraalbertscrafts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! I use those to trace circles onto patterned paper.

    I love getting to go to retreats or crops but covid has killed them.

      Very true! I don't know of very many here locally still going strong. The 8 hour drive was worth it though!

    HI Laura. Can you please spell out what that tray from Ikea is that you are pointing at 1:12 on your video. Ive searched and searched for what I think you said but I cant find anything.

      It’s an IKEA Kallax, but may be discontinued. I have seen them on eBay or other secondary retail shops though.

    Link for ikea fajala? The organizer in video?

    • @lauraalbertscrafts
      @lauraalbertscrafts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately, the Fjalla has been discontinued. The closest I've been able to find is this organizer from Scrapbook. com and it would need modifying to fit 12x12 paper at the back slot. shrsl.com/3p4bh

      It's a group that gets together to scrapbook. Sometimes, it's just a group of crafty friends, other times like this one it's a planned event. Often at the events, they offer classes, have giveaways or games, etc.
