Nice space. I bought magnetic rails from Harbor Freight and store my sockets on those. The same at work. Since I move my box around at work a lot I cut a piece of sheet metal to fit in the box and riveted the magnetic rails to it so they don’t tip over. Enjoy sorting, Bud.
Ernst socket rails . Buy the 3 piece 19 inch sets with the trays . I have 1/4 up to 3/4 drive sockets on the rails with zero issues. They are 1/4 to lock into place. You can grab rail from the set and bring the whole rail to what you are working on. Ernst also makes good wrench holders in different sizes and widths. Awesome garage man.
shed builds/ workshop set ups are very handy to watch. I only have a 5 x 11m shed so space is very limited and watching thoes types of vids help alot so all for more shed vids
I recently had to upgrade my toolbox as well so I went with the standing socket holders from Harbor Freight, I got them in blue because of my box. I also got the plier holder and that has immensely cleaned up the space in that drawer. I’m with you on watching shop organization videos, definitely gives me lots of ideas. A mill and lathe would be huge for you as you continue to build these wild cars! Great job John and keep it up!
My socket system is made to be able to keep my standard set available and I also travel to jobs so I have to keep something portable 1. I have the snap on standup organizer 2. I use a portable clip rail I got from Lowe's 3. I use a parts bin for all the random sockets extra and double socket
G'day John, watching your channel from good Ol' down under.. Australia. Always great to tune in and see what you are up to. It's also a real buzz when you have completed a project and express how excited you are. Must say that I love the Corvairs but my favourite is that awesome Audi SP 1000. Cutting out those sills and dropping it even further was so cool 😎. Keep up the great work John, looking forward to seeing more episodes.
An important part of any shop, organization! I too store my sockets in the case it came in, but my buddy swears by Tool Widget. I tend to organize all tools with the factory packaging, pliers in a wire plate rack.
You should boxter pan swap that fast back!! Also leave the sockets where they are, as much space as where they are takes up the organization you are getting out of it in a symmetrical manner has that drawer looking good! Label the drawers if you can. It’s tedious but it helps when you have helpers.
i have a 84' cornwell platnium box/hutch and i spent days organizing and it was super therapeutic for me, i also enjoy this time of content. i use a couple stand up post style from the tool trucks but mainly use plastic socket rails for the rel estate. I would also look into wire pliers rack to make them stand up and gain room. wrench wracks i have had the best luck and use with the type that are two individuals rails and you can cut them down and more them around to your liking. if you want photos ask elliott to reach out to me.
Dude I'm totally gonna order some custom "DropCulture" logos to replace mine as well. Love the organization videos, I can always watch these as it inspires me to work on my space
I am always excited for every episode. And like what you do. Love that terd. Can not wait to see you drive it. And the 700 is my favorite. We never got them in South Africa. But know the DKW well the neighbors behind my parent had 2. Love the older cars
My company moved into a new building a couple months ago and we have been doing same thing... "5S" We have labels on each draw e.g. SAE wrench, metric wrench, screwdrivers etc.
a cheap upgrade i recently did to my tool box was cutting out spots dedicated for certain tools. I actually used foam matts from harbor freight simple because they were cheap. your Laser machine would make quick work of them.
They’re still running strong! I have the complete set of first gen Ryobi tools from the late 90s that my father handed down to me, and they all still work!
I can’t seem to find any information on wheel building. I’m looking at building my own wheels. Are lip and barrel bolt patterns universal or do they vary by brand?
They vary by many things. Manufacturer, but also models of wheels within those brands, too. There are many patterns. SRR Hardware is a great source for aftermarket lips and barrels for just about all applications and many custom applications.

I enjoy shop tours myself. Nice space. The socket organizer looks good.
Brilliant!! Love a great workspace. Pallet racks are so great. Your shop continues to look and work great!!!!!
I like the shop builds, I watch shop and toolbox tours to get ideas for my shop.
Harbor freight has the best stuff imo looks great john keep up the great content
That's a sweet shop space.
I would kill for a workshop like that
Im a big “sockets laying down” kinda guy. I like how you hide your tool boxes under the cut down pallet rack work bench.
Always excited to watch what you have installed for us.
Gridfinity is where its at!

Great timing John. I’m actually organizing my work space today. Lots of great ideas here! 👍

I have the same Husky work bench you just got and love it! I always love seeing shop organization. Speaking of, I need to do a little myself.
I’ve found tool grid is the way to go for me. Tons of options and gives everything a place to live.

I would leave the sockets in the original holder it's organized and easy to find the socket your looking for.
Recently organized my box, went with the Ernst socket rails, couldn’t be happier

You should laser cut some divider grids for your drawers
Out of acrylic
Put some kind of skirt on the 6ft box. Every nut or bolt dropped will zip right under it, I know from experience. Keep up the great content, John.
Great video !!
🔥🔥
Could you cut foam the sizes of your wrenches on your Lazer machine?
Your shop is awesome 😁 but you need a 3D printer and make Gridfinity for your drawers 😋
I would love a 3D printer!
I like this kind of video for the record
I like what you did brother
I have a first gen ryobi Sawzall. All my power tools are ryobi
They’re still running strong! I have the complete set of first gen Ryobi tools from the late 90s that my father handed down to me, and they all still work!
@JohnLudwick I had the first gen drill but it crapped out back when I was building cyclekarts. I like the ryobi band saw

@@JohnLudwick thank you for the help. I’ve got access to a cnc laser so I guess I’ll find my lips and barrels and have the centers made from there.
When are u going to finish your car ?
Socket , ratchet organization - Toolgrid
Wrenches - tectonic
Toolbox widget sucks imo
