Hey everyone! PSA: With the firmware update released in July 2024, you can now deactivate the dry signal and with this workaround you really only have the signal from the PC then! In short: 1) Enter stomp mode on your ToneX One 2) Bypass the pedal 3) Go to the Librarian tab, click on the global settings and disable "Direct Monitoring" Cheers!
Thank you so much for making this video! I was so frustrated by the inability to preview/test other tone models because the Tonex pedal was always on. I don't think it would ever have occurred to me to select the stomp mode and turn the pedal off while it is connected to the computer. Thanks again!
Hi Alex, you're welcome! It was the first thing that bothered us and we were imediately looking for a way to make it work. With the new firmware update you can deactivate the dry signal and with this workaround you really only have the signal from the PC then. Cheers, Martin
Good stuff guys! Exactly what I was looking for!! I've been fighting with this exact thing. Haven't messed with it a whole lot and have just been loading stuff in on the PC, then hooking it back up to my rig and testing it out. Kind of a pain but man the potential of this pedal? It's worth it to me!! I'm getting by far the best tones I've ever had. Was using all tube amps but due to back issues had to go with sold state as I just can't lug those tanks around any longer 😖 Although I do like both Tube and solid state, I must say I still have no regrets. Thanks so much for putting this out there 🤩
Thanks a lot! Glad we were able to help you! Yeah, the ToneX One is a really nice piece of gear once you get it going. It's just a matter of finding a good model. Cheers, Martin
Hello L&M! I downloaded some killer tones you guys made on my spark 40 amp. So I went along and liked you guys on TH-cam. Those were some awesome tones you made. Please keep them coming as I am following you on the spark app as well.
@@jeffereywhite5564 Thanks a lot, that required quite a bit of tweeking. It also always depends a bit on what guitar you're using, but that's why I always add what I've used on my end in the tags. Nowadays I only use the 4 presets stored on the hardware and Yellow Ledbetter is one of them together with the Rolling Stones one, an updated version of the AC/DC preset (due to the speaker change on my amp) and finally the Crossroads V3. With that I'm covering all the styles I'm playing, especially as the Spark really cleans up nicely with the volume control and so one preset can easily be used for multiple things. Maybe I should update the AC/DC one on the cloud too, because that one was made with headphones or high volume jamming in mind where the speaker limitation makes it automatically not as bass heavy anymore. Back then, I used the Spark mainly like that and as such, I haven't reduced the bass as much as most other presets do. Cheers, Martin
You're welcome! If you didn't see it already, with the new Firmware update, you can also get rid of the dry signal that's going through the pedal into the power amp. Cheers, Martin
Tolles Video.
They need to fix this urgently. It's a hot mess! I've spent the whole night here trying to work out this problem and found your video. I can't believe everyone is not complaining about this same thing. It's modelling software. And it completely messes up every model you try to use. Mixing the dry signal in as the best case scenario is still terrible. Come on IK / Tonex... This is not good enough!
There is another one, if you have another audio interface, that is... You could select that one as input, and the ToneX One as output. That should work as well without passing the dry signal through. They should have some kind of mode on the pedal where it simply works as audio interface with input and output, but the whole pedal aspect is bypassed. Cheers, Martin
Sounds like a lot of Headaches Lukus and Martin, I'm not that smart for all that I guess I would have to do old School but at a expense and hipe about the Tone-X , I would expect Better!! Great job Guy's I know you had to help many people! Keep on Rockin Your Music-In-Law 🤘🎸🤠
The pedal is a lot of fun, and I also think they put a lot of thought into the controls of the pedal, but the interaction with the PC software has some flaws. Cheers, Martin
Brilliant! You’ve solve the secrets of the universe, thanks! I will also use this trick to turn off the ToneX pedal and let the IR200 or HXS provide the amp tones without multiple amps running over each other. Although sounds sweet with the JC120 and IR paired with the ToneX or HXS… kind of a sweetener to the tone :)
Hi, thank you for the tip, I noticed that if I turn off the output knob in the software the sound I get is the same when the pedal is not attached to the computer. Am I wrong?
Hey there. You're welcome. Absolutely - if you turn the output in the ToneX software all the way down, the software is muted. You could say that the output acts like a master volume "knob" for the software. What you end up with is just the tone the pedal provides. Cheers!
You're essentially not doing it on the pedal. You're doing it in the Tonex software. You then hear the out of the tonex software through the pedal if that makes sense. But that is the same as if the pedal would use that model and send it to the out. It's the same software that does the signal processing. You're using the pedal just as an audio interface for in and out. If you want to adjust something that is on the pedal, just switch from that tab away. Cheers, Martin
@@LMGuitarCorner for some reason when I duplicate your clicks I don't get the stomp mode, I have the tonex pedal not the one, does that kame a difference?

@@nlmal4 Hey there, we just had a look at it yesterday, they solved the issue, that you'd have the pedal signal going to the output, however, they still have the selected pedal sound going into the digital input, which causes the gain stacking. So the workaround we're showing in this video is still required. You will have to go in stomp mode and deactivate the stomp, so that the ToneX software on the PC will receive the dry signal and not an already altered one from the preset on the pedal.
