Perfect description of that one, Himalayan comes into it's own offroad and as you say, the best thing is that it dosent worry you about getting it dirty and having fun 👍
The issue is that anything that could be better than the Himalayan will cost a lot more than the Himalayan did. Interesting to hear the Himalayan will be sticking around, time to send it down those mucky lanes some more, especially with the wet season arriving 💪 Hope you’re well mate 🤘
Hi Adam. I was in exactly the same position a few months ago. I ride with my wife as pillion a lot and the Classic 350 manages that extremely well. When I'm solo, it's great for exploring the lanes. What it's not so good at, is doing the longer distances on "big" roads. This summer we added a 2017 T120 to the fleet, the first time I've ever owned two bikes. Fortunately, I was able to afford the Triumph too. It's a bike I'd really wanted since they came out in 2016 but the price of them then was unattainable. But this one came up at a great price. It's in fantastic condition and not too high mileage. I didn't get rid of the Classic 350 for three reasons. Firstly, he's named "Ernie" after my late father. Secondly, the poor residuals meant it wasn't worth selling. But thirdly, although I love my T120 the Classic 350 is still my go-too for most of my riding.
My wife and I have been looking to get into a bit of off road riding and the Himalayan is near the top of the list as it would be cost effective to get two. I rode one a few years ago and thought it was fun as hell.
Way to go mate! One day, Sandy lane carpark, The next, Dakar Rally! 😊 I found my Unicorn bike, its the old thing that im still rattling round on 40 yrs later! Its not especially brilliant at anything yet it does everything reasonably well, from Green Laneing to Just into three figures on the road. A bit out of the timezone now though....
I have often thought the same but the HImalayan is a great bike and bit of can do anything bike. I live down in Cornwall its almost all small miner roads. I was going to get a bigger bike but have now decided to make do and the odd longer trip will just get there a little slower.
Had one, used it for 5 years. Sold it because I couldnt keep living with the low powered engine. Like you said, The grunt, Its missing and it makes a big difference once you ride it for an year or two.
I think its great if you ride all year round because it feels very stable in the wet, but I didn't like it during the summer. I just wanted to open up the engine
@@EpicAdamMotovlogsThe shoe analysis is best.. Most people have more than one for different purposes. You don't go hiking in office shoes or go to your ballet class wearing work boots. 😃 The Himmi is like a pair of cross trainers.
This sounds like me. I switched from a sport touring motorcycle to an adventure motorcycle, but since i got it im afraid to use it for what it was intended because i dont want to get it dirty or damage it, so i end up not using it for whats designed which made me consider just selling it and going back to sports touring. Obviously i should let go of this idea to not want to get it dirty..
@@CuriousGooseMoto i think alot of people will see the extra 39cc think its a massive upgrade and quite a few people will be selling there 411cc so could be alot of good deals going next year.
One bike will never do it all, so one bike is never enough 😉. Anyway, with the current value of used RE bikes you might as well keep it, you'll be able to use it for the winter and the muddy stuff, keeping your shiny new thrills machine for the faster roads and better weather 👍.
That's the plan. I think the Himalayan 411 will drop in price soon and I won't be able to get anything better for what I'll get for it. I have started to enjoy it again too.
Yamaha T7? Aprilia Tuareg? Himalayan 450? I find the Himalayan perfectly capable of some spirited (and legal) A/B road riding. It does struggle on Dual Carriageways as it doesn't like 70mph... Stick with the Himmy and go in search of more puddles. Do grab the tank with the knees when you stand up, though
Sounds like an excellent plan. The Himalayan is fun in the mud but there are different kinds of fun and an effortless fast bike doesnt have to be mega cc on the wild west coast.😊
@@EpicAdamMotovlogs cool. I have this conversation with my son weekly. He has a 650cc BMW classic bike. He says well, how fast do you want to go? 125cc will do 60mph. And I say, the ability to do 70mph. Easily.
I think I got myself in a negative mid set. It wasn't until I watched a video where someone was enjoying the himalayan that I started enjoying it again.
The bikes get into your soul (DAM THINGS) I fitted a TEC Cam and 16 tooth sprocket made a big difference on motorway, but all the popping and banging has gone now which I miss it was that what gave the bike the smile factor going down country lanes I think. @@EpicAdamMotovlogs
Good decision I reckon. I think it's pretty impossible to get a one bike does all (as I'm trying!), anyways everyone knows two bikes are better than one! 😆
In my youth I tried riding a goat and pig. The goat hit the afterburner and I was off the back. Riding the pig ended much like my last ride on the Rocket 3 at Bonneville 😄😄
😂😂 The salt flats were as bumpy as that parking lot. Of course the answer is always find another bike that doe what the Himalayan doesn't and keep the Himalayan. Oh yeah the money part seems to come up at this point.

An SV 650 would be a good fix for your speed requirements.
A DL650 Vstrom would fit the bill. Same engine as the SV650 but with adventure bike styling. 70ish bhp, loads of midrange
