    Now Henry just needs to add an additional one in .45-70 with a 30" or 32" heavy octagonal barrel! I am very happy that they introduced the .44 with a 1 in 20" twist!

      Octagon-to-round. And in .50-70! Break top buffalo gun! And I agree;1 in 20" twist rate for .44! That should help accuracy substantially especially for people who want to shoot heavy bullets more accurately. Never understood the common 1 in 38" in 44 lever actions?

      @Cajun Swamp Fox, This has to be the best comment I seen to the way I think. I am glad to see that I am not the only one out there that thinks this way. This year I took a survey from my hunting friends and some family members on this ? If your allowed to have only one kind of Survival gun what would it be ? One person said he would pick his Ruger 44 mag hand gun, others said like their 30-06 rifle, or their shotguns etc... Guess with me it would depend I what kind of terrain I would be living in. Assuming if its North America or Canada this would be my top choice for a SURVIAL GUN. And I told them I would pick the over and under like you said. But I did say originally the 12 gauge bottom barrel like you said, and with that I would be able to hunt any small game animals including turkeys with that. Then my choice for the top rifle barrel would probably be the 444 Marlin, or 45-70 or 300 Win mag or 338 Win mag so I can hunt any big size game in North America with that. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.

      30 30 rounds or two underpowered for their cost it's much more bullet per dollar that you could be getting Fiat you want more rounds at a cheaper price or you want a more powerful round at the same price

    • @chrisedwards9156
      @chrisedwards9156 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@porkchopspapi5757 yes they'll do the job that's not what I'm saying I've killed many deer with an old 30-30 lever action Marlin but I'd rather spend that Dollar on a 308,6.5 Creedmoor ,30-06. You get longer range flatter trajectory and more takedown power with many other options mathematically speaking not the best choice.

  • @thomasjefferson1457
    @thomasjefferson1457 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    It's now available in 30-30 :) Being able to handload it with pointed bullets would be awesome. That would really bring out the potential of the 30-30 and make it a longer range rifle. Also the 30-30 is an excellent cast bullet cartridge and someone who likes to cast lead bullets it's just about the right size chamber for reduced loads. The 308 is sometimes just too much rifle and unnecessary for deer and for someone who is just getting into shooting it's too hard on the shoulder.

    • @mkshffr4936

    • @thomasjefferson1457
      @thomasjefferson1457 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @mann I believe the twist rate on the 30-30 and the .308 are the same for most manufacturers. 1-12 Not sure about Henry yet.
      I just looked it up and you are right. Henry uses 1-10 on the .308 and 1-12 on the 30-30. 🤔

    • @thomasjefferson1457
      @thomasjefferson1457 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @mann You have a point there. It would depend on the individual and their specific needs. It's almost a toss up to me. I have hundreds of 30-30 brass and .308 also. I quit hunting big game and only shoot for the fun of it now. I play with lead bullets at times and like shooting guns with the recoil no more than a 30-30. I load the Russian 7.62x54 down to 30-30 velocities also and shoot it out of a mosin 91-59 carbine. The 30-30 uses American size bullets (.308) and it's easy to find. As I mentioned before the case capacity of a 30-30 is perfect for cast bullets. Some powders are finicky about the pressure it burns at and do better when the pressure is raised up to certain levels. The smaller the case the higher the pressure will be. Loading down the .308 or the Russian will sometimes cause problems.

  • @troy9477
    @troy9477 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Very nice. Decent selection of chamberings, but i agree there should be a 357 mag offered. It is so useful from a carbine. Other wishes: a 22 Hornet, something intermediate like a 25-06 (or 257 Roberts), maybe a 7mm-08, and just for fun, something esoteric like a 38-55, or maybe a 444 Marlin to go with the 45-70. That should be easy enough since they are making 44 barrels already. Just a matter of cutting the chamber. A 22 LR would be great for older kids and just plain fun shooting too. Looks like a great start though. Thank you, Henry.

    I really like these rifles,...but I have to wait a month or so before my gun buying piggy bank get's refilled again. When I do order one,..it'll be the 223/5.56,,....although I'd love to see a 30/30 model in this.

    Hey Plinkster, did you get the TWRA email with the survey asking if you would want to be able to use single shot .35 caliber and up traditional rifles during ML season? This rifle would potentially fit into that category right?

    One of these in a big bore pistol caliber would be sickness, not to many make a single in .500 S&W. Would like to see someone make a revolving carbine in .500 one day but it is what it is:/

    I would love one in 30-30; I'd ask them about what other calibers they're thinking of adding too. I'm sure anything from .357 Mag, to 35 Whelen/35 Remington would be grabbed as well.

      Charles McKinley T/C Encore is alright, but the barrel prices just keep reaching for the stars. The Encore is not as comfortable to shoot as an H&R, or the Henry, as their stocks are pretty much the same as most rifles/ shotguns. And to get a .405 Winchester in something other than a skinny 24inch twanger barrel I have to go to after market manufacturer and they want three times what T/C charges. I’ve got three H&R’s, so I will start buying Henrys.

    A modern single shot without an auto eject isnt worth buying. You guys in the south may not care about this but once you get into cold weather or hunting with gloves on you are going to want that ejector.

    I haven't found a review yet that discusses the "feel of the trigger"...2 pounds, 10 pounds, creep, anything? The H&R factory triggers, for example, are "just ok", but can be worked on for a 2-3 pound trigger pull, which really makes them a pleasure. As others have stated, A 30-30 would be appreciated, along with a ".357 / 38 Special" chambering.

    I gotta say I am super excited for this especially the new .357 model for my kids first hunting rifle. But I will be honest, they are doing a horrible marketing it. For example if they sent one to Eric at iraqveterant8888 I'm guessing that would sell them at least 2-3 thousand rifles. Or if they put them on some other TH-cam channels showing 9-10 years old slamming deer these would take off. Or at least put them in magazine advertising showing kidds and dad's in a blind together these would sale like hot cakes. Good Job on this rifle, I have been waiting since H&R was killed for this market to be filled, but for the sake of longevity please market these batter so I can buy one for my kids that's yet to be born.

    I would like the brass receiver one but with the wood from the standard one. Any plans for a muzzle loader or even better just offer a muzzle loader barrel that could be swapped out with the 45-70 barrel? Either way I'm going to get a standard in 45-70. :)
